Fantastic experience: Great gym!! Clean, lots of natural light. Thoughtful setting with good movement. Grading was solid (definitely not soft). Very friendly and helpful staff.

Fantastic experience: This gym is solid. Tough walls with all kinds of difficulties. Dan is one of the kindest and open to teaching guides there. Also a tip of the hat to Jack and Shane. Quality folks sharing a passion. ???? love this place. Home away from home.

Fantastic experience: Decided to take a 6 week class to learn how to belay and Dan my instructor was amazing! He was great at giving simple but effective understandable instructions that got me belaying and climbing very quickly and leave me the confidence to climb. Please sign up for one of Dan’s classes. On top of that the gym was amazing as well! I was able to move from top rope climbing to bouldering was so easy. This is a great gym!

Fantastic experience: This review is specifically about the Intro to Climbing class. Dan is a terrific teacher, and great energy! His pacing was perfect - fast enough to get in a lot of information, but with enough repetition that perfectionist dummies like me could feel confident while literally holding another person’s life in my hands. I’ll be back tomorrow to get belay certified ????

Fantastic experience: I did the lead belay 2 day course with Dan and he honestly did an amazing job! I really enjoyed his energy and passion he brought to teach each day. He was very knowledgeable and able to relay that information well. The course itself is well worth the information. It provided me the comfort to pursue lead climbing on my own. I feel especially comfortable with falling as well. Thanks Portland Rock Gym for the experience and thank you Dan!
