Crunch Fitness - Cerritos

Negative experience: this gym almost made me give up on myself. Its crowded, unclean, ridiculously loud, and there is a subtle feeling of disdain towards members from workers and manager. I rarely give reviews but I don’t want anyone else to make the same mistake. Two stars because I was able to cancel my membership without too much of a hassle.

Positive experience: Edit: I like that it has an indoor running track, and they updated the distance! Thank you :) Open 24 hours, love that. They could throw in a few more leg press machines. The only real issue I have is with the limited quantity of specific machines. During peak times, the one you might want to use is taken. Sometimes I’ll see someone using it, go do something else, come back, and someone else is on it. Repeat. I don’t mind waiting for a machine, but I would prefer more similar options that train the muscle groups nearby. I know there is the actual weightlifting area where you place the circular weight, but idk, I’ve never really felt safe using them. I think they have done a great job keeping it a little cleaner, with the obvious slip ups with running out of wipes to clean your machine. The group for classes room is open when a class is not in session, which is a great place to warm up. When classes are in session though, it gets a little congested in the rest of the gym. Overall, from my last few reviews, some updated gym equipment, some reorganization, and a relatively warm gym culture, I feel good about working out here. They could throw in a few more leg press machines.. That one seems to be out the most. And they could keep a better stock on sanitation wipes for the machines.

Negative experience: The classroom is always hot. The AC is broken . It is been like this for years and done nothing about it.

Fantastic experience: Lots of cable machines, cardio machines and platforms for squat. Not much bench for barbell bench, but lots of bench for dumbells. Upstairs has a little track and 1st floor has a small little Turf. Nice clean gym.

Negative experience: This location is literally the worst! They sign you up saying your membership will allow you into any gym blah blah blah, and that you can have a buddy with you, but once your signed up and you give them your money they don’t care. I wasn’t allowed a friend in because of a bunch of excuses and I was told that I couldn’t be signing into any crunch gym only the Cerritos. Canceling with them is incredibly hard. Just go to 24hr fitness they have a really nice clean space, easy to cancel and feeeze and literally never have any issues with billing or any overdrafts like I did here

Negative experience: Honestly a bit icky, I keep trying to go here but this location really has a problem with keeping their wipes in stock! Super inconvenient when there’s no wipes and I can’t wipe down my equipment and more importantly the person before me can’t either. Wouldn’t post about it if this wasn’t a consistent issue that I’ve seen. Went to another location for the last 2 months and came back here and still a major issue!

Negative experience: Somebody needs to stop this loud continuously blaring music. For god sake is there no other music but hiphop at top volume!!!!!!!

Negative experience: Multiple machines have been broken for the 1 month I've been there. I'm trying to cancel my membership and they're giving me a hard time as well. Overall bad experience

Positive experience: Super convenient that this location is a 24hr location. The staff here is super friendly and are always accommodating. I just wish paper towels or sani wipes were available for us to clean the equipment. I’ve been buying my own at this point, but it would be nice for the gym to be stocked with these essentials.

Negative experience: Avoid speaking to General Manager Michael. He is weird and rude. Learn how to talk to someone with proper respect and instead of looking down on someone or making faces like if someone is below you. He is sassy. Always trying to cause problems. It ain’t that serious. The other managers there are absolutely great ! Keep it up everyone and boot that general manager out. He needs the proper training with his customer service skills.

Positive experience: This is a poorly maintained 24 hour location. Like many Crunch fitness locations it's in a shopping center and roughly occupies the foot print of a smallish big box retail shop. The location was busy at 7 am when I came through. As indicated by other reviewers, the bathrooms are in rough shape, up to and including a post apocalyptic style plea to fix the Men's shower sometime in the near present. I also walked in without showing my membership, which was fine with me but might cause concern for a security minded person.

Positive experience: Solid music, staff are very helpful, but nobody re-racks their weights. People working out are very polite and everyone minds their business

Negative experience: I gave them my credit card as record when signing up but pay cash at counter for monthly fee. However, i just found out they have been charging my card! They now refused to pay me back! It’s a dishonest business and it’s a scam!!!

Fantastic experience: Gym is overall fine in terms of equipment. It’s an old Bally’s which used to be there. I give 5/5 stars because of the amazing help I got from Marc!

Negative experience: Don’t ever go to this location!! They are scammers and will try to lie to you. I have more worse experiences with gyms at this location. They will lie and try to scam you. Avoid at all cost!!!! They do not care about this gym. It is always dirty and weights everywhere. The people in front are rude and do not care

Negative experience: The gym is nice but the general manager here is such a tool. Always tries to lie and charge you for any inconvenience. Just go to the Norwalk one if you actually want to workout.

Negative experience: I witnessed Tim the manager on duty today, 8/18/23, become very rude and hostile to a patreon. From what I was able to hear the individual was seeking to enter the gym to work out but Tim refused service without reason when questioned he continued to exclaim that he may not enter because he says so. He then approaches the patreon as if he is trying to begin physical confrontation. Very unprofessional

Negative experience: Bathrooms are always Dirty , Manager is Judgmental , Weights all over the place (constantly un-racked and unorganized), But half the staff is cool and they've got punching bags, the People who go there are pretty cool- 1/6 of the ceiling is always missing/dripping Ive been working out for 8 years going strong going from fat kid to experienced gym rat and have certification and tend to have explosive weightlifting/ boxing knowledge Despite this the manager (Tim)refused to interview me do to me wearing a tank top :/ .... These guys aren't real Gym People. Plain and Simple.

Positive experience: My first time at this location and it wasn’t what I completely expected. I thought this was a big place and would have a variety of machines available but unfortunately there wasn’t many. Pretty much the whole facility was outdated and needs to be redone. Once that happens I am willing to give it another try. Meanwhile the Anaheim location will have to do.

Fantastic experience: The Cerritos gym has all of the equipment I need for my fitness goals. The gym itself is a good size. It's very well kept. Bathrooms and exercise floors are clean. Staff is friendly. There was staff painting the upstairs walking area during business hours but did not interfere with our workouts. And they are 24 hours a day 7 days a week which is convenient.

Positive experience: This is one of the better SoCal crunch gyms. I love the lighting, for some reason it seems not too bright and not too dark, lighting is an underrated but important factor for me when working out. It has a great variety of machines and LOTS of squat racks/deadlift platforms. Upstairs running track, machines are kept in working order. Overall it’s great and 24/7 open. The only bad part about this gym is the bathrooms are always gross. Otherwise awesome.

Negative experience: This is actually a very good gym I do have to give it that. The problem I have is with the way this gym is managed. I recently got a call from a collections account, to my understanding my gym membership had been canceled in June 2022. The collection call said I had a delinquent account that I haven’t payed since July. I called in to the gym at 9am looking for a manager to talk to, I was told they wouldn’t be in till noon. I call back at noon to speak with “manager” Tim which sounded like I caught him eating lunch or something. He told me he would look into it and would call me back. I have built my excellent credit up for many years so for something like this to effect my credit report is a very serious matter. I heard nothing from Tim so I called back at around 2pm where I was informed he was on lunch and would be back at 3:30 pm. Once I got a hold of Tim, his tone sounded irritated and basically told me the best he can do is cancel my late fees. I tried explaining that I didn’t see reason for me to pay something I never used and to my understanding was canceled. Tim the manager basically told me I could either pay it or get my hard earned credit record destroyed. I asked if there was anyone above him to help me out with the issue and he said if I wanted to talk to someone else good look catching them and laughed. Not sure how managers here are trained but they clearly need to undergo interpersonal communicating courses. At this point I am on the brink of losing everything I’ve worked for due to a collection account I had no idea of.

Negative experience: I do not like Crunch of Cerritos. I like Crunch of Lakewood. I tried Cerritos several times, but the class of Jumba was really crowded and small space. During summer time, the air was no good and not provided fan either. There is only one side door, too. They need a bigger classroom for Jumba or for other activities. I also does not like their customer service. I asked a copy of monthly plan for class, they said they do not have it. It is really crowded not only the classroon, but also gym itself. Too many people! So I could feel the dusty air, not fresh air! Not healthly place at all! I like Lakewood for customer service and bigger classroom and two sides doors. I live in the same distance between two crunches, so I go to Lakewood crunch. I like it.

Negative experience: A good energy place. Lots of young people and hard core bodybuilding types. Everyone is friendly and chill. Only reason for the downvote is that the bathroom really need an upgrade. The shower stalls are always dirty and filthy. Alway have lots of hair debris. Soaps never filled. The excuse of short staffed janitor on weekend is no excuse. It’s like saying no burgers at McDonald’s. Come on!! A clean bathroom is essential to the health and safety of the gym users. No excuse there. Hope it’ll turn around one day. I do love the gym and want to come for years to come. A janitorial staff that takes pride in its work is essential to turn things around here.

Negative experience: I had to try 3 treadmills before I could hop on one that was actually working, the climber machine is suuuper dusty. Equipment needs service and cleaning.

Negative experience: Horrible experience they have been charging me twice for 2 years now and they refuse to help me or assist me with this inconvenience. The gentleman Marco was extremely rude and now I am proceeding with a fraud alert with my bank. I’ve been there plenty of times regarding the issue and the manager never seems to be available the man never works. And no one seems to be able to resolve the money they have been stealing from me for the past 2 years

Fantastic experience: Was my first time here Visiting 1/8/22 at night time and Daniel was very welcoming and he signed me in ( guest ) The gym has all the main machines , treadmills , elliptical, bikes , weights , indoor track , bathrooms , four squat racks with platforms, a hiit zone, a tanning booth, a hydro massage bed, and they’re even open 24hrs 7 days a week

Fantastic experience: I felt skeptical in the beginning about the personal training. But miss Z helped me feel less shy about using the equipments. Also I love how I can ask her what I want to do and she is happy that I am motivated.

Fantastic experience: Loved it. Everyone's doing their thing. No judgements and no fighting. Great place to release some steam in your workout. Definitely going back.

Fantastic experience: Easy cancellation; no hassle. I've been going to this gym for about 6 months, but had to cancel my membership. I cancelled via email and nearly immediately received confirmation of receipt of my email as well as a cancellation receipt. The process was straight forward and easy.

Fantastic experience: I have no complaints about the gym, good people good equipment big spaces to workout, just be aware someone broke in to my car on a Sunday early while working out, the sheriff said he goes almost every day to file a police report at this location. They broke my side window and took my purse with cards.

Fantastic experience: Was able to work out inside!! Very clean and the manager Ed does what he can to give the best customer service. I was going to just cancel since all these restrictions have made it hard to work out at a convenient time if your a 9 to 5er. But this has been my home gym for years now and I really don't wanna let it go that easy. I hope I can keep this relationship going.

Negative experience: I had signed up for personal training for $150 for 4 session with erick after the 4 session ended...After a month later they charged again another $150 without my permission and after talking to the trainer he said i have to tell them not to autocharge it...But who gave them permission to charge when i didnt ask for the service...And he said money wunt be refunded and i have to train the 4 session..Hate this gym and its management..Could give 0 Stars if i could..

Negative experience: Crunch is the only unprofessional and uncaring corporation that I have ever dealt with especially during COVID. They charged my account for one month and then proceeded to charge for a yearly membership fee of $49.00 during non operating hours. I kindly asked for a refund, at least for the membership fee since I didn’t plan on renewing due to COVID (at least for the time being). Their answer was...it’s too late (less than a month) to cancel. Why would I renew if everything is closed as we speak? Horrible customer service. Crunch Fitness should learn from Tony Hsieh (CEO of Zappos) and Steve Jobs (former CEO of Apple).

Positive experience: Very popular intermediate gym. Enjoy modernish gym equipment that more then likely isnt gonna give you covid. The environment isnt too shallow with just a few "Instagram models" and low key "personal trainers". If this review comes off misleading given the score or judgemental, it's based off the reality of pretty much all gyms in socal. This is one of the better ones...

Positive experience: Great spot with a lot of equipment. My favorite is the assault bike. My only concern is the COVID adjustments. Seems more packed than usual and members weren't wearing masks including the staff.

Negative experience: Crunch Fitness on Del Amo, Cerritos is a ripoff I tried to cancel in person back in March but due to COVID closures I canceled over the phone. I talked to a Crunch Fitness representative who assured me that my account was canceled. Now it’s December and I got a call from collections agency stating that I owed over $200 dollars in charges. I never received a letter or email to warn me that my account was delinquent. Also when I went in person the manager on duty (named Mia or Nea) would not help and only stated that she couldn’t do anything because the account was in collections. She wouldn’t even give me a name or number of someone in upper management that I could talk to. She couldn’t explain why I was not issued a letter to warn me that my account was delinquent and was being sent to collections. It was always a monotone response “can’t help you because your account is in collections.” I found out that the majority of my delinquent charges were from late fees and they even charged me a $49 dollar membership renewal fee that I had not consented to. Stay away from this branch they are considered independently owned and Crunch Fitness corporate billing department could not even help me. At this moment there is no one I can talk to from this branch.

Negative experience: Limited hours. HUGE wait time during peak times. But at least they are open. Mask and towel required to come in, after that it's not really enforced, which is the reason for the one star. Management and employees not caring about keeping up with regulations will likely lead to these places shutting down again or creating a hot zone and no one wants that.

Negative experience: If I can rate them 0 star, I will!!!! A lot of hidden fees and poor communication! Last year due to covid-19, they close around March, 2020. They did send out a email saying that they will close and monthly membership fee will not be charged. But they started charging since July,2020 without any notice email! And I called them around Agues,2020 and want to close membership. The guy who picked up phone says I can just freeze my account and I can reopen whenever I want. He didn't mention anything about freezing period and I need to pay for freezing. So I say ok I want to freeze at least 1 year because I don't know when the covid is gonna end. It turns out I still have to pay freeze fee and yearly membership fee!!! And maximum freeze period is 6 months! They start charging me again at March! on the charging day, I called and sent email asked for close my membership immediately and refund because I didn't use the gym even 1 day! However, they don't even reply my email about the refund!!

Negative experience: I signed up last week with a membership that allows me to bring a guest with me. however, when went there a week later, they told me that I can not have my guest in because it is full, and when I asked them what is the maximum amount of people that can be inside, all their response was 10% and another said 25% and none of them knew how many people where inside and how many must be inside too. I talked to the manager and he did not know what is the max limit of people that are aloud inside and all he said that " the reason I can not bring a guest is because it LOOKS CROWDED", also, he said that I can always downgrade my membership.

Negative experience: Why does she have to start a fight with me? This Mia person is the worst human ever. She definitely got some emotional problems and stop making excuses. She kicked me out of the gym but I'm still a member.. NO refunds were given.. All this because I'm trying to cancel my membership. Thanks crunch fitness for great experience I definitely won't be coming back.

Negative experience: Take care of your money and be careful from this wolfs, they advertised $19.99 at month and they make you sign up for it. But after 6 months they charged you $49.49 for an annual fee. They never told me that when signed up. I called and they said that I signed the contract where it says that! Really? they expect me to read all the contract all the way through? If they speak with you trying to convincing you, why they hide the annual fee? I'll cancel right now!

Fantastic experience: People really don't know how to leave accurate reviews. If the sound of weights dropping bothers you, you should probably go to Planet Fitness, honestly. They are strict on that. If the front desk doesn't greet you, are you even trying yourself to greet them? If they don't respond, then you're justified to leave a negative remark. Establish your own connections. I've had no issues, and it's trivial things like this that makes me question humanity. You're not entitled to a greeting or rather anything, for crying out loud. Every gym gets packed during a certain time, typically around 5-8 PM. If you don't want to deal with crowds, put the effort in to go early/super late. Don't leave negative feedback of something out of the gym's control. Additionally, as for the wipes running out and/or broken machines, the staff is quick to address and put an order in for it to be fixed. The main issue is that people don't report it, and staff WILL from time-to-time go around the gym to return equipment—especially the personal trainers. Obviously if there is a lot of people, the front desk people will have to stay at the front desk. Dirty machines or missing equipment? That's also outside the gym's control. That's more of a gym etiquette problem, and that resides with gym goers. The staff will do their best, but during peak hours it's nearly impossible to micromanage equipment/customer service. Just because you don't see it yourself when you're there DOESN'T MEAN it's not happening. Anyway: + variety of equipment + able to borrow accessories from front desk + 9/10 clean atmosphere + restrooms are maintained (never used the showers) + friendly staff + lots of parking (backside/side of building)

Negative experience: My boyfriend and I were waiting in a long line and it was hot outside. Some white lady decide to cut The Whole line and in-front of us . When I told the manager about it he didn’t do anything and still let her in. He didn’t make her go back of the line. That was unprofessional. It’s not fair that everyone else had to wait in the hot weather and this lady gets a free pass.

Negative experience: I was a member for over 1 year. I constantly complained about the bearings in the elliptical machines but they were never fixed. One entire series of their ellipticals is set to Kilometers and not Miles--also still not fixed. Even spoke to the regional manager. Membership cancelled.

Negative experience: Highly unprofessional with memberships. When you call to cancel they tell you they will cancel your membership and stop payments. After a few months go by check your bank statements because they keep your card on file and start charging you again without notice. Also the email they tell you to contact for issues below is not even correct so they pretend they want to help but actually don't.

Negative experience: I dont like that this gym steals money from people. I cancelled my membership 11 days before due date as contract says and they still charge me for it. Bad costumer service they only care about gettimg your money

Negative experience: This place is excessively packed! Members don't always wear their facemasks probably and staff members don't enforce it on the workout floors. Dumbbells and weights are all over the place. Very disorganized. Cardio equipment is always available. Almost impossible to get a good weightlifting workout

Negative experience: Machines are decent but the restrooms are very unsanitary. The front staff, do absolutely nothing. They do not greet and spend most of their time on their phones. Weights are regularly thrown on the floor and there’s never enough wipes in the canisters to clean the machines.

Fantastic experience: Because you're willing to pay to keep it open for people who want to take care of their health

Fantastic experience: I stood in line for 45 mins or so.. the workouts was intense and watching people was gratifying, my health and my vibrations has reach a level of high and happiness.. Fantastic experience: I love this gym. Right next to my house and well worth the money I'm paying. It's a relatively small gym, but they have packed almost all the essential equipment in that I need to my workouts (and arranged it well, definitely doesn't feel crowded). The staff is generally very friendly and welcoming--usually get a "Hi" and "Have a good one" when I come and go from the facility. They are also very good at respond to customer complaints regarding damaged or out of order equipment--someone usually writes it up immediately and the repair is completed in a timely manner after that. The facilities are very clean and we'll maintained--I regularly see maintenance staff cleaning and on the floor making sure things are in working order. The music they play is also very good. I used to bring an MP3 player every gym session, but now I just listen to what they have on over the speakers. It feels like the staff chooses the music based on their own taste, so the music is varied (which I like), appropriate for working, and just good music (from 90s gangster rap and R&B, to 60s rock, to trap/house music). Definitely a fan. This is in contrast to the Lake Forest location which I also go to regularly when I'm in the area, which I would rate as "ok" to "poor". I've only been to the two locations, so I'm not sure which is the norm for Crunch. Not sure why the disparity in the quality of the locations exists, but the Cerritos location is awesome.
