Fantastic experience: This gym has it all! Out of all the gyms in Alaska I have gone to, this one has by far the most machines, and the best dumbbells. The staff are amazing and the gym is gorgeous!

Fantastic experience: Southside Strength and Fitness is the top gym within the Anchorage bowl! I have been a member for many years and have had great experiences. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful, the equipment is top of the line with a variety from free weights, to machines, and cardio. One big thing that stands out from any other gym is the other members who attend. Everybody that I have met and come across are friendly, helpful, and know how to practice gym etiquette.

Positive experience: This is a great gym with all functional equipment! Although could use a couple Assualt PronRunner equipment. Clean gym with friendly staff. Reasonably priced and perfect for anyone who live on the sour side of town.

Fantastic experience: this place is awesome- just snagged a couple day passes while visiting from denver. staff was super helpful and helped me out with a machine that was set up differently than the one i normally use back home. highly recommend if you’re passing through! they have free weights, rigs, smith machine, kettlebells, really anything you might need.

Fantastic experience: Southside is the preeminent strength facility in Anchorage. I have trained there and its predecessor gyms since 2007. Southside has the most square footage and the most equipment to become a champion. As of this writing they count among their members the state heavyweight bodybuilding champion and the powerlifter with the heaviest raw total in Alaska history. They also have Olympic lifting platforms, cardio machines, strongman implements, as well as plate-loaded and selectorized exercise machines. This would be an outstanding facility anywhere in the country, and Anchorage is firtunate to have Southside.

Fantastic experience: My partner and I are visiting Anchorage and this gym made our morning! After a not so pleasant greeting and being turned away at another gym we headed to Southside and felt welcomed the minute we walked in. The gym felt relaxed, easy going and friendly and Josh was so nice. The gym had everything we need without any snobby or obnoxious vibes and we also got some great tourist tips of where to go. Highly recommend to head here whether you are a local or visiting and need a place to get your sweat on!

Fantastic experience: This Gym is simply awesome, I did the day pass as I was traveling and they had reasonable prices awesome staff and just about anything you could need from beginning lifter to the upper cosmos of niche equipment like a camber bar ( very rare to see) so if you are in town for 24 hours and want to get a quick workout or you live in town and are serious you will get so much savings and benefits from utilizing this company

Fantastic experience: I cannot stop ranting about this wonderful gym. The culture, friendliness, and welcoming people who work here like Josh, Helen, and Taylor. Even the owner Matt who upholds this example, is truly heartwarming to come by these days. I have no intention of going anywhere else for my gym life. Its a God send to have a gym culture as sensational as this. This place is a must if you are looking for a healthy addition to your walk of life!

Who are more than welcoming and friendly to the people entering and leaving the gym as They always say “hi”and “have a good one”. Fantastic experience: I came here on a guest pass and I couldn’t have been more pleased. The equipment was great but the staff were even better. I was helped by a handsome and younger man by the name of Mathias who had a charming smile that lit up my day. He helped me through the whole process. His looks and jaw dropping smile brought a singular tear to my eye as I saw him wave goodbye to be. Pretty good gym. Would recommend.

Fantastic experience: Southside is the spot! I’ve been to gyms all over the country, but this one took me in today with open arms. The gym is amazing, everything you could ever need and quality too. Arsenal rigs, top notch plates, variety of barbells you rarely see. Reminded me of Old School Gym in Ohio which is a notorious gym if you’ve ever been. The team here has done a great job building this place. Oh! And I the dry sauna was perfect for what I was looking for. Thanks for the hospitality!

Southside Strength and Fitness has it all: friendly staff; an organized and well-managed gym space; extremely affordable monthly costs; and tons of equipment and weightlifting options. Gone are the days of fighting over limited rack space! As a bonus, Southside has partnered with several local personal trainers who train out of the gym. I work with Coach Ragnar, and it's been game-changing! Thanks Ragnar and the staff at Southside, it's a great gym.

Fantastic experience: I’m from Oregon and am in Anchorage for a couple days. I decided to try out Southside fitness to get a workout in and I am very impressed with the atmosphere, the selection of machines, bars, dumbbells, etc. the gym has everything anybody would need to get totally jacked! It’s also a friendly environment and the person at the front desk was extremely nice and helpful. If I ever come back, I’ll be working out here!

Negative experience: I really liked this facility, it's a real shame i had to discontinue my membership here. They have some of the rudest staff i've ever encountered anywhere. It reminded me of those restaurant chains where the whole theme is having wait staff are rude and condescending to you. The front desk lady with the nose ring and a few tattoos was insufferable and just nasty for no reason. She gave me nothing but attitude from the day I signed up and onward. She literally rolled her eyes at me once when I had a question about my barcode key card. Crazy how she made planet fitness seem more appealing than a facility with great equipment. The friends I had that also went here have cancelled their membership as well because she is like this with everyone, it's just not worth it to be talked down to when you're just trying to work out. I'd much rather give my money to a business that employs decent people.
