The Edge Rock Gym

Fantastic experience: This place is a lot of fun. It will certainly give your arms a heck of a workout. Great place to bring a date and even for the kids. Little small. If the place gets packed it's hard to wait your turn to get on the walls. They need to expand the place. When I was there they had two kids birthday parties going and it was miserable trying to get any climb time. Along with all the annoying children running around. I'd say go during a weekday or when you know kids won't have a chance to be there.

Fantastic experience: Fun and safe even for us old people. Great safety brief. Staff was readily available to answer questions or lend a tip. Went early and had plenty of space and did not feel rushed.

Fantastic experience: What a great workout! When you arrive you get a funny instructional video to watch. The staff gives you harnesses to use while you climb. They have a bouldering area that is around 10ft high and you don’t use a harness, they have an automatic harnessing area that you hook onto that you self-repel on the way down, and they have an area that requires a partner to counter balance you on the way down. You get unlimited time but we only made it an hour before our forearms felt like they were going to fall off. The routes are color coordinated for level of difficulty. If you’ve ever wanted to try out rock climbing, this is a safe and fun environment to give it a shot!

Fantastic experience: I got a membership here and I love it. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are clean. I haven’t used the traditional gym much but the rock climbing gym is a great workout. They have a yoga class and belay and lead certification courses. The least busy times to go are during the weekdays before school gets out and most Sunday nights a couple hours before closing. My only complaint would be that the auto belays aren’t changed out enough.

Fantastic experience: Definitely my favorite place in Jacksonville. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating and the routes are really cool. Definitely a climbing style I'm not used to but very fun. Great for beginners and avid climbers alike !! Has top rope, lead, auto-belay, and bouldering. Auto belays are better for beginners but the holds are very used so be careful because it's slippery.

Fantastic experience: This place is just amazing! I wish I lived closer so I could go everyday! The staff is always so friendly and helpful! Their gym has nice equipment to warm up on for the climb and they offer yoga/acroyoga classes (Dawn!!! She’s absolutely amazing and teaches on Sundays!) Couldn’t ask for a better place to go to ^_^ Highly recommend to climbers of all levels.

Fantastic experience: I only started climbing two months ago but The Edge Rock Gym has been an amazing place to get into the hobby. The community is great and there are plenty of climbs for a multitude of skill levels. If you're in the area and looking to climb, give it a visit!

Positive experience: My 10/12 year olds loved it! It’s a nice impromptu trip we took. Conveniently located. Good size parking lot. Go early as there’s less people. Around 630 it started getting crowded. Affordable. Going back definitely.

Fantastic experience: I have recently had a rock climbing kick, it’s amazing. This place is great and so is the staff. It’s a great way to work out and it makes it fun too. Every time I get home from the edge rock climbing gym and take a nap because I’m so exact exhausted. I love these people and I will be coming back as I bought the monthly membership. I’ve been here at least five times. It is a great and I can’t wait to come back.

Fantastic experience: Ooh boy, I had such a good time here. I didn’t do any climbing myself, but my daughter had a blast and when she has a good time, I have a good time. It really is nice that you can have the option to move from one wall to another without needing another person. And that there were so many available skill levels on each section. Doing things like this really boosts my daughters self confidence and fosters an interest in physical activities and the outdoors. I can’t wait to come back again and again.

Fantastic experience: I started going to the Edge after moving to Saint Augustine, FL from Boston. It’s a straight shot on the highway and the drive was always worth the community, friendship, yoga and stellar climbing routes I found at the Edge. It’s not a giant facility (like BKB) but staff are friendly, there’s bouldering, top rope, auto-belay, and lead climbing. There’s a room to practice yoga and acro yoga, and a training area. After getting a holiday deal on their membership I was hooked, driving up 3 days a week. I’ve met some really cool people there, and found a consistent climbing partner there as well. Really love their slab and dihedral routes.

Fantastic experience: I have never ever done rock climbing and was terrified after the orientation but I had so much fun once I had faith in that Auto belay to hold me. I only successfully got up one wall but I enjoyed the challenge and watching others even kids. Glad I brought water but looks like they had drinks. There's a gym too. I definitely will return. I wish it was even bigger so one large room could be boulders and the other just Auto belay. After work hours are busy though so I can only imagine the weekend. Good price for an all day pass considering you can leave and come back. So glad to have this in Jacksonville. I was impressed and can't believe I've been here 12 years and just found this place

Fantastic experience: I drive over here from Gainesville every Saturday. Love the plethroa of auto-belay routes, in both quantity and quality (difficulty ratings). I am too old for bouldering, but they have an abundance of problems for younger, stronger guys and gals. The staff are really nice, and it's a treat to be recognized as a "regular" for a septuagenarian geezer like me. Wish I had known about and taken up Climbing 30 years ago!

Fantastic experience: This is the first climbing gym in florida that felt like a home gym to me, so much so that I drove from St Augustine 2-3 times a week for the two months that I was in Florida. I began coming here as a relative beginner, having just started climbing regularly and training with purpose. I certainly saw improvements in myself within those two months. The bouldering grades are hard and tend to require some muscle, so beginners be aware of that and don’t get frustrated. With repetition, I got stronger and was able to send more routes. The auto belay routes are great, and I really was able to build my endurance and skill with the array of fun grades that they set. Not that it’s all about grading, but I went from struggling up a 5.5 to sending most of the 5.7’s. The routes challenged me, but also helped me progress. The fitness area is amazing, lots of space and variety, as well as a yoga room to stretch and cool down in peace. It had everything I needed to train alongside my climbing. Finally, it’s a really welcoming gym. Every staff member is happy to help, welcoming, and kind. People are there to just climb and have fun, I never felt intimidated or unwelcome. I really wish I could just pick up The Edge and take it to New York with me, I was sad to leave it behind. I’ll always consider it the gym where I became a climber!

Fantastic experience: Had a great time. Staff was friendly and leaves you to your own devices unless you need or want some help. The walls look intimidating and a bit confusing but once you get the hang of it its simple enough. The chalk is worth the cost if you plan on climbing more than a few walls.

Fantastic experience: Visited 11/25/20 Very impressive climbing gym for North FL. The routes are laid out the correct way by color and well marked for grade. Everyone is masked up and they had staff on the floor. Great experience!

Fantastic experience: Awesome gym! Lots of options for routes and quick response from the staff when needed. It got crowded on a Thursday afternoon once school let out but we were still able to enjoy our time.

Fantastic experience: I love the Edge. I've been climbing there for years and Im on the JV team and it's been the most amazing experience ever. The coaches and staff are amazing. They are doing a great job keeping everyone safe during COVID-19.

Fantastic experience: I had a blast at this place. This was my first time ever climbing, so the heights kind of threw me off a bit. However, after spending a few minutes watching people climb I decided it to give it a go and I was able to climb to the top of the wall. After a few climbs I tried bouldering, which is quite challenging. I will say that this type of activity is a workout. You should expect to sore afterwards.

Fantastic experience: I have always wanted to do the rock climbing walls and found a great deal on Groupon. They also had a FREE climb day as well. It was loads of fun. Wasn't too busy to get a lot of climb time in. There were a lot of wall levels to choose from. Rent the shoes if you don't have any, they are worth it.

Fantastic experience: Very nice gym with very nice and helpful employees, and a lot of different climbing difficulties from very easy to extremely difficult. They also re-do the walls every 8 weeks or so which means there are always new walls to climb. Prices are reasonable as well.

Fantastic experience: Had an awesome experience after going here for my first timer this week, Once you pay you’ll have to sing the waiver and watch a short 10 minute video about safety and putting your harness on that it. Then you’ll get your choice of about 7-12 different paths to climb of ranging difficulties from pretty easy to extremely hard.Overall highly recommend!!

Fantastic experience: I've been to this place 6 or 7 times now and plan on going more. Great gym for all, from those who have been doing for years to first timers. The price is reasonable for rentals and passes. All the staff members seem friendly and enthusiastic about climbing.

Fantastic experience: Had a great coupon on groupon. Really enjoyed my time here, especially considering it was my first time rock climbing. Only wish I had the energy for a longer session but man lifting my 200 pound self up for a few hours was exhausting. Great arm workout and a fun alternative to lifting weights. Just wish the price was this good back home in Virginia.

Fantastic experience: Had an absolute blast at this place. It was my first time with rock climbing and I got all the recommended gear and it was a lot more fun than I thought. I would definitely recommend to anyone who has never done rock climbing. People are very friendly and will assist you with everything you will need. I would say, it was just a fun way to burn some calories LOL!!!

Fantastic experience: My husband and I had a great time climbing! It was pretty crowded on a Saturday night + a kids birthday party, but the wait for each climb wasn’t long at all. The on-boarding is comprehensive, the staff is super helpful, and climbing is very self sufficient with auto belay.

Fantastic experience: Had a great time during our first visit to this rock gym. Hadn’t been climbing before but was easy to get the hang of. Only rented the harness and got a great Groupon deal. Got by with our regular sneakers but may opt for the shoe rental next time. Overall, a good experience and would recommend to a friend.

Fantastic experience: Awesome gym and walls. When i went one of the walls was under construction so i hope that gets fixed soon. Reasonable prices, and plenty of opportunity for bouldering, auto belaying, and normal belay climbing. Atmosphere is nice too, well lit, and clean.

Fantastic experience: Came here because of curiosity...and a Groupon...now it's like home. The staff is great. They are always more than happy to help when you have questions. The members are great as well, ready to offer a belay or suggestions on beta. Also, the routes are changed regularly and the grips washed.My husband and I love The Edge! And my mom too!
