Down Dog Yoga Herndon: Opinions
Fantastic experience: I love DDY! I have been going for almost two years and it has been the best exercise experience. I had never done yoga before, and after 5 or so classes I felt really comfortable with the poses since the teachers keep the same sequence but also offer amplifications and modifications. I will always come back when I am in town :)
Positive experience: One of the better places to practice in Northern VA. All around, good studio and good vibes. Excellent heating and humidity controlled systems.
Fantastic experience: I love Down Dog! I really enjoy the practice, it helps me a lot with stress. The teachers are amazing and super friendly!

Fantastic experience: The Herndon location is located across the street from PJ Mulligans. The staff are welcoming, friendly, and courteous to make you feel like you’re a regular. There is parking street side, below or out back. The Herndon studio has a bit more room than most studios I’ve been to and do not have rugs in the actual practicing area. As always bring a bottle of water, an extra set of clothes to change out of and an extra towel to capture your sweat before getting in your car. The studio has drinks, towels, yoga mats and swag for sale. Under COVID-19 restrictions there isn’t any showering in the studio, masks are worn, and social distancing is enforced during your practice.
Positive experience: This is the first yoga studio I've ever been to, so hard to compare to others. I tested it out with a Groupon and liked it enough I bout a 3 month membership. The staff and teachers are super nice and welcoming. The classes are fun and encouraging for all levels of experience (trust me, I knew nothing going into this). My only complaint is that for the expensive price tag to become a member, I would think the locker room area would be better taken care of. It is super small making it difficult to use. The 1 bathroom stall doesn't lock well, the changing rooms look like they really need a fresh coat of paint and could use a real door, and everything is just kind of dinged up. Outside of that, I would recommend!
Fantastic experience: Love it. Going to classes make me feel so good. Down Dog Yoga is my ultimate comfort zone. Great team, homey environment.
Fantastic experience: I went to this studio in my first time i was very happy and the teachers was so great all team the very friendly I recommend to try this place :)
Fantastic experience: Down dog Yoga is a family. The teachers are caring, gentle, loving people. Down dog is NOT cheap and that's not in keeping with principles of yoga. That said, they are worth more than they charge. I like that their yoga studio temperatures are not boiling hot like I have seen in other places. The front desk makes it a point to know you and your family. That attitude towards community building percolates to the students and I have grown to like and hangout with many classmates. Down Dog recently lost some good teachers but they quickly assembled a fabulous cast of teachers with more variety than they offered before. I am humbled by the depth and dedication of Leena L, Katie T, Debbie T and Diane R . I wish them luck and lots of goodwill.
Fantastic experience: Great experience as a two week visitor. Valuable and affordable intro package. Showers, locker room, large facility. Fantastic teachers
Positive experience: I really like this place but I wish they made it hotter in the room so I can sweat more. My favorite instructor is Colure. Barbara pushes you too hard and you end up leaving the room feeling on edge but I like her variety of stomach exercises. An improvement I suggest is that when a charge is made against a customer' account when it wasn't the customer who made a charge... they should at least follow up with the customer. This has happened a couple of times to me
Fantastic experience: Down Dog in Herndon is much more than a hot yoga studio, and if you're looking to meet friends and are willing to take a little time to reach out you'll meet some awesome and truly generous people. This place is like a second home to me. I've practiced here hundred of times now, and everyone who works there learns your name, remembers you, and makes you feel welcome. If you're nervous about trying out yoga for the first time seriously, just do it! Go in, tell them it's your first ever time and I guarantee you'll be well taken care of :)
Fantastic experience: All around great experience! Clean studio, excellent instructors and classes. Only issues that I have experienced is parking is a little tight sometimes, the locker room is a little small and crowded and they charge for use of towels (not sure if this is a common thing with Yoga Studios and I have never experienced this at any other studio that I attended in the past).... But I still love Down Dog Yoga and the fact that you can pay per class! That is important to me! This is the best studio around by far! Some advice, register online, come dressed and ready with only your car keys and don't forget your towel!
Positive experience: It's a good studio but as a word of caution, the class pack expires after 60 days, so if you're a casual yogi like myself, don't be too casual or you'll lose your classes.
Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this place. The teachers are wonderful and the classes are my perfect fit. I believe everyone needs to find that studio where they just have that perfect puzzle piece fit, and Down Dog Yoga in Herndon is mine. I tried a few in the area, but I love this one the best. The classes are not snobby, people fall over, take personal water breaks and rest when they're tired. There is no yoga intimidation what so ever, and that's how it should be. They have great intro packages so I was able to get a free unlimited week and then my first month unlimited for $50 dollars. I put the unlimited month to very good use!
