The Pad Henderson: Opinions

Fantastic experience: This was my first time climbing and it was such a great experience! The staff there are so friendly. They ask if its your first time and if it is they show you around the premise and let you know where everything is there. They would even check up on you and if you struggling with a particular boulder they would instruct you on where to place your hands and legs. I just wish it was a little closer to home otherwise I would definitely sign up for their monthly membership.
Fantastic experience: Awesome climbing gym. Friendly staff and more climbing than you can finish before they reset. I especially like the training area the campus board is placed at a perfect height and the woody wall is amazing.
Fantastic experience: Spacious, friendly climbers, clean mats, and clean rentals. Definitely going back.
Fantastic experience: Amazing experience. Great facility. The people are well rounded and helpful. Update: still fantastic
Fantastic experience: The pad Henderson is always welcoming and very helpful with beginner questions. Miranda was very helpful in getting me started.
Fantastic experience: Great Wall open 24hrs if you’re a member ! Lots of problems and cool area to relax and drink a coffee .
Fantastic experience: Love the gym but sad to see they removed their down climbing handholds in the bouldering area. Hard on the body now to jump off boulders as some just don’t have easy options to down climb around them. Would love to see them back. Rough for those with older bodies and injuries.
Fantastic experience: Off and on rock climber for past 8+ years and this is the best climbing gym in the Vegas/Henderson area. I mainly boulder, so this gym is more my style. Definitely more bouldering here than top roping or lead climbing, but the spaciousness, cleanliness (in comparison to other gyms in town) and the route setting is the best I have ever experienced for indoor gyms. Also does not have top outs for bouldering like other gyms but not a deal breaker for me. Great place to get out of the heat for the summer while outdoor climbing is in off season. Prices have increased, but prices everywhere has increased (darn inflation). $23 for adult day pass, $200 for a 10-day punch card, $108 for a monthly membership (cheaper if you auto withdraw), and $800 for the annual membership as of this post. Annual membership also let's you get one friend in free per month. Not sure about this one, but also members who bring in first timers (it'll be free day pass for the visitor) [needs verification if that's still a thing]. All and all, great gym, has some weight lifting equipment, cycle machines, treadmills, dedicated slackline section, moon board, ping pong, and other amenities. Come check it out when you're in Vegas/Henderson and see you there. Climb on!
Fantastic experience: It’s a cool climbing gym, large with a nice lifting area. I’m going to give it 5 stars in terms of facilities but I didn’t love the setting. Now I’m definitely not a world class climber by any means but I thought it was a little too difficult. I brought a friend who was new to climbing and was very few v1’s he could do. He’s fairly in shape, just new to climbing. I do believe that a v1 should be able for anyone to do, I think you might turn away some new climbers and turn them off to the sport if they come in and can’t do anything. I don’t know maybe it’s just me but felt like it wasn’t a welcoming setting
Fantastic experience: Cool place. Nice staff and great climbs.
Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend this climbing location for the mass amount of indoor climbing easy through difficult. I went there as part of my recovery group with a group called The Phoenix. I could not climb much but it was very much fun watching other people and helping people with pictures on their phones.
Fantastic experience: Best gym I've been too! Really clean and has so many routes. Joey and the staff were all super helpful and full of great energy. They have a lounge, clean bathrooms, games, slack line...the list goes on. A very positive place to visit and climb at.
Positive experience: For Las Vegas this gym is definitely the nicest one. However, when compared to more modern gyms like the ones in Denver where they regularly pressure wash everything, this gym feels dirty. The walls, the cushion and all the holds are just covered in filth which is quite slippery. I do enjoy coming here. I like the atmosphere, the people, and the bouldering problems but I do wish they would clean it from time to time. Once every few months would be great.
Fantastic experience: If you are in Vegas, this place is a great bouldering option. We went a couple of days during our stay, it was easy to register, the staff was super helpful and extremely nice, and we found everything (and more) we were expecting. Gym, bouldering, slack… we had a lot of fun trying to complete the “panvalentine”.
Fantastic experience: Great place for beginners! Your first visit ever is always free and if you have a membership you can bring a friend once a month. Always free shoe rental, harness, and chalk if you need them (which makes it easier/more accessible to practice until you decide you love it and buy your own gear.) Their slack line is always set up, there's a ping pong table, plus a room with couches if your arms are jelly and you want to scroll your phone for a bit. I've been going on and off for the last year and everyone has always been super nice. I know very little about route setting, the classes they offer, and have another gym membership for weights and machines, so I can't comment on those specifics.
Fantastic experience: I used to climb here when it was called Origin. I saw that they were having an open house on a recent Saturday and climbing was free for the day, so I dropped by. The atmosphere was friendly and exciting, the staff were all very friendly and helpful with answering my questions and pointing me in the right direction, and I even won a free 10-day pass to come back and climb some more! There was a very wide selection of bouldering problems with various grades and plenty of climbing routes with auto-belay routes to choose from too. The newer format of becoming a member and being able to climb whenever you want to is really exciting and I'm really stoked on being able to come back and climb for a few days with my pass.
Fantastic experience: Best climbing gym I’ve found. Just a little pricey. But if you’re serious it’s worth it. They always change up routes. Everything is clean.
Fantastic experience: Great place for my kids to burn off some energy. The folks working there took the time and explained everything to us. Even helped us put on our gear, which was nice because I wouldn't have figured it out. The kids climbed for about 2 hours and then were done. If we were in the area longer, no doubt we would have done it more.
Fantastic experience: This is my favorite gym in town by far. No inflated grades here, no BS, no additional fees, and open 24/7 to members. It has everything I would expect for serious training. I love coming here after hours when I’m training for alpine, trad, and bigwall objectives. The staff has always been kind and helpful.
Fantastic experience: Amazing climbing gym! So many beginner friendly route options, we can stay for hours!
Fantastic experience: The Pad is a huge gym with everything you need to climb and train. The staff is very welcoming, and vibe is super inviting.
Fantastic experience: Love this gym. Autobelay options, lots of bouldering, and a slack line. You can come with or without partner.
Fantastic experience: Serena is absolutely the best employee at Origin! She's awesome, just like the gym. It's a great gym, with a huge amount of space and climbing routes. Prices are really reasonable and the 24 hour member access is awesome. It's never too busy, but there's always friendly, familiar faces around. Great community environment. Even if you're not a climber, there's plenty of traditional workout equipment along with treadmills and such.
Fantastic experience: They're great. I had a membership with them last year, but I ended up having to cancel it (without incurring any cancelation fees btw). I went back today because I recieved two birthday passes and I saw that there were a few improvements from the last time I was there. There's AC, the staff/people are great, they also have a mini basic gym, and they don't play with your money. What else can you ask for?
Fantastic experience: Did a gym sesh since it rained on us outside. Staff Gavin was a rockstar! Quality rock outside this area but the best place to satisfy a sesh if the weather doesn’t allow.
Fantastic experience: Good setting, clean, tension and kilter boards great. Bunch of workout stuff. Various hangboards. Decline bench is great. Mats for landing good. 24/7 access is cool. Members get pad rental for free also the bouldering guidebook. Good value
Fantastic experience: Awesome gym, Serena was super helpful at the front desk, great bouldering, solid lead top rope, and auto belay selection :)
Fantastic experience: We were in the area for a week and looking for a place to climb. Google led us to The Pad and we couldn’t be happier. We showed up at opening time (11am) and were greeted at the door. We filled out our waivers and were climbing (with free rental harnesses and shoes) within a few minutes. We started bouldering before moving on to the auto belay. There was an excellent selection of routes for both me and my 6 year old daughter. The gym was spacious, the walls were great and the staff was amazing. We will certainly be back.
Fantastic experience: Update review 5 out of 5: it's Friday right at memorial weekend 2021. Zach gave me an intro course today. It was absolutely awesome. I was excited the whole time. He was very informative. I wanted to take the top rope course and he explained the difference between the that course and the intro course and I decided on the intro. I was even thankful he double checked with me. The intro was a must. You can definitely go on your own and learn on your own but it is much more helpful with his knowledge. After the class he said I was welcomed to stay all day but I was very exhausted after the intro class and that was with him giving me breaks and letting me go at my own pace. I was thinking of getting the monthly but he suggested I try the 10 day pass and he suggested I activate it after a few days from today since my hands were killing me from the class. I'm very pleased with my visit honestly. I'm looking forward to starting the 10day trial after this weekend. I would say go to this facility, try it out yourself, if you aren't happy let them know, write a review on detail; don't just be a jerk and say "no don't go" be detailed about what you didn't like but honestly, try this place for yourself. There are much more positive remarks on here then bad. I completely did a 160 on my review from the 1st time I came. I had a great time today and I definitely feel more knowledgeable about this sport. Thank you Jaz for reaching out and wanting things to be better for me. Thank you Zach for all your knowledge and encouragement. Today was a total success. Update review 3 out of 5 stars: it's Saturday night and the owner replied to my review. I'm very please with our communication and her willingness to make it right. I can already tell that I'm most likely going to update this review once I get in. When a facility replies to a good review, that's good because it means they pay attention to what's going on in their business -but when a facility replies to a bad review and does not reply back with excuses but rather replies to listen and to assess the issue, well, that's honestly awesome because it not only means they are paying attention but it also means they actually care about what's going on with their business. What I love is the owner's willingness to try and make it better, that's seriously awesome. My updated review is based on the communication that was lacking previously. I will update my review again once I actually use the facility. Past review at 1 out of 5 stars: I went in on Wednesday to get some information. I was really excited as I took the tour and I wanted to sign up for the intro class and I was told I would get a contact back in a few minutes and he'd get my information to sign me up. The guy that showed me around was the instructor himself and he said the minute you leave here I'll contact you to get your info since I signed the waver and class interest form. No one called me. So today, Friday I called early to hopefully get signed up because I did tell him I wanted to do it this Saturday. I had to leave a message because they said he was busy. So I waited for a call back and now 7:30 pm and still no call back so I called again and I was told he would call me when he was back in. So I asked if it would be tomorrow and the guy couldn't even tell me. Honestly, the dude sounded high and couldn't provide any valuable information. Looks like I'll have to look for another place since they don't want new customers and I was really interested. Management and the owner should know who they are leaving unattended
Fantastic experience: Very friendly and helpful staff. We had a great time! The prices are reasonable for day passes too.
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The girl that greeted us was fantastic (sorry I didn't get her name) and answered all my questions. This was the first time I had been in a wall gym and she was more than willing to make sure both my son and myself had our bearings about us before we started climbing. They have an insane amount bouldering and big wall problems to solve with 6 auto belays for beginners and anyone going in solo. I will absolutely be going back.
Fantastic experience: Wow This is going to be my favorite rock climbing gym in Las Vegas. Friend of mine told me about it and we decided to check it out together. First impression was:”Wow, it’s so spacious and clean!”. We got greeted right away and stuff at the desk was super sweet and nice. Sam gave as a tour right after we filled out a waver. He took his time to show us around and we were impressed. You can get rentals there as well. They have sanitary stations everywhere. Please take a look at the photos and you will see that this place is more just a climbing gym. We really liked lunch/break room and all the colorful climbing walls. They also have a volunteer on site to help you lead and do a top rope. We can’t wait to come back again! Thank you so much for such a great place to do climbing and just have fun while doing this.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly and helpful staff. We had a great time! The prices are reasonable for day passes too.
Fantastic experience: They have everything you need to be a super strong climber and cross training too! They have bouldering, auto belay top rope, lead climbing, weights and cardio machines, hangboards, treadwalls, training walls, a physical therapy area, yoga studio, slackline, ping pong, corn hole, and a lounge. What more could you ask for?
Fantastic experience: Clean gym, great staff. Awesome gym for beginners and advanced climbers. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful
Fantastic experience: This is the best climbing gym I've ever been to. In addition to friendly, helpful employees, they offer the following things, all of which I've never seen another climbing gym offer. - Free climbing shoe rentals to use in the gym - Free bouldering pad rentals, up to 5 days at a time (for members) - Free climbing harness to use in the gym - 24/7 access to the gym for members - A slackline! - A wifi lounge All of this at a very reasonable price. And the variety of their bouldering routes is top notch. They are constantly adding new routes, and have a gigantic bouldering area. You could climb here 4 days a week and never need to project the same bouldering route twice. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: Huge bouldering section, 6 auto belay, and an extensive partner climb area. Weights, treadmills, bikes, and a helpful staff. Three times a day yoga classes and locker make this place a must go for the local climber.
Fantastic experience: One of the most friendly rock climbing gyms I've been a part of. Origin is a welcoming place for all individuals regardless of climbing ability and make you feel a part of their family. Great facilities and resources to help you get strong and reach your climbing goals. Five Stars!
Fantastic experience: Everyone from the staff to the other climbers are always so nice! I love learning new things every time I come here. Great prices and yoga every Tuesday!!
Fantastic experience: This place is fantastic. Lead climbing, top rope, auto belay, cool app-based walls... It's got everything.
Fantastic experience: Bouldering ratings are super soft. Softer than any other gym out there. And we've been to probably 20 gyms from the west to east coast. During the summer, the daycare kids are super annoying, running all over the place, and the employees don't tell them to quit screaming and stop running around. Other than that, a fun place to get a workout in.
Fantastic experience: I love climbing at Origin! I am in the senior meet up group, and we have gotten a lot of help and support. I have met a lot of people and made lots of new friends. Its a great place to climb. The routes are new all the time, so there is always a new project to ascend. Its a great place to exercise, make friends, and have fun!
Fantastic experience: Great place for everybody! I took my 4 year old daughter with us and even she had fun doing the easier climbs. Great for adults too as there are very challenging walls as well. They even have a ping pong table to play while you wait for a wall to be free
Fantastic experience: I've been climbing at Origin since I moved here a year ago. Origin is the newest and most state of the art gym in town. The gym management does everything they can to provide to climbers of all levels which includes individuals climbing for their first time all the way to advanced level pro's. Climbing includes bouldering, top rope and lead climbing. The gym includes training areas from general fitness such as treadmills, dumbbells, and barbells. The gym also have many tools for climbing-specific training such as hangboards, campus boards, a treadwall, and a climbing woody with challenging routes geared towards making climbers stronger. The staff, management, and local members are very approachable.
Fantastic experience: Large bouldering section w/ a full squat rack and free weight area. Very reasonably priced and friendly staff. I was extremely happy to find this place while staying in Vegas.
Fantastic experience: Payed 17$ for a really nice boulder gym! Good boulder problems, lots of space, creative, well organized and has Clean restrooms and shower. I recommend it!
Fantastic experience: Amazing gym for bouldering and working out! They just added a new tension board that connects to your phone and you can choose a climb and the route lights up. Also they have yoga classes! The staff is awesome, very friendly, always welcoming and I climb with most of them now! Very great vibe and community.
Fantastic experience: Origin is my favorite indoor gym to climb at in the Las Vegas Valley as it's the biggest facility in town with a wide variety of bouldering, autobelay, top rope and lead climbing routes available. Love the fact that yoga is available, three nights a week and the fitness & weight room has enough weights and machines that warrant not to get a separate gym membership elsewhere!
Fantastic experience: Great place to climb and have fun! It’s got a lot of different options to climb also. The staff was super helpful and informative. Can’t wait to go back!
Fantastic experience: All around nice and friendly place great for small or large groups new people or veterans to climbing.
Fantastic experience: Went to this gym because it was raining in Red Rock Canyon. And wow, this gym is *set up.* There are a bewildering number of bouldering problems. The grades are a little soft, but that's not a big deal. I bumped my arm while working on a dyno problem, and the staff obliged me with an ice pack. Their showers are also really nice. It seems like they have a great community too-- lots of events and member benefits. I didn't use the weight room, but it looked clean and well stocked. If I was local, I'd totally go to this gym.
Fantastic experience: This gym was my favorite part about living in the Las Vegas area. I started my climbing here, learning to climb on the autobelays. I initially only joined because of it's proximity to Henderson and Boulder City, but I found out that there is so much more to the gym than ease of access. All of the employees were very supportive and gave me great advice on how to begin my climbing activities, buying gear, etc. I met all of the three founders within the first month, they're always very involved. The community at the gym is so supportive and welcoming. As my climbing skill progressed from 5.6 to 5.10 there were always new routes every week, both in the bouldering sections and the top rope/autobelays. Gym is very clean and is still new enough that it doesnt have that 'feet' smell yet. I moved away from the area, and honestly the thing I miss the most is still this gym and it's community. Climb on!
