We're excited to show you the ropes at RiNo Movement, where you'll find a supportive community, creative climbing routes, and tricky bouldering problems.

Movement RiNo is a community concept in Denver's historic Five Points neighborhood that partners with Improper City, a cafe, food truck park, and beer garden. Once a tin factory, it was renovated in 2018 and now stretches out to 40,000 square feet, with nearly 200 boulder problems to suit every level and style of climber. Whether you're bouldering, taking a class, or having a beer, Movement RiNo is the place to gather with friends.

Join us for outdoor yoga and fitness classes on the backyard patio of Improper City from May to September! Breathe in some fresh air, soak up some sunshine, and flow or sweat with the community!

Improper City is a taproom and coffee bar located next to Movement RiNo, with 36 taps, a full bar selection, specialty cocktails, and a menu that changes with the seasons. The patio has a seasonal bar area, good wifi, community games, and hosts several food trucks. They accept all people and welcome dogs on the patio.

We partner with organizations that help make climbing accessible to everyone and who are committed to preserving and protecting the planet.

After over 20 amazing years with you as Earth Treks, Planet Granite, and Movement Climbing + Fitness, we have grown a lot as a family - inspiring us to move forward as one community: Movement!

Fantastic experience: Great bouldering gym with a range of grades from V0 - ~V12. Tons of options when it comes to board climbing, warmup equipment and weights. Lots of open space for yoga and stretching as well. Prime location near bars and restaurants in the heart of RiNo

Fantastic experience: This climbing gym is amazing!! It has two very large rooms with rock walls to climb. No belaying. Lots of variety of difficulty levels. Horizontal wall. Large shower facilities too

Chris Lytikainen 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Best Movement location for Boulders. If you want to rope or lead climb I'd advise the other locations. Earthtreks Englewood location is also great for Bouldering and belay. Still fantastic. Super busy around 4 to 6 pm though.

Fantastic experience: Big space with lots of options and great atmosphere!

Fantastic experience: This climbing gym has fun route and incredibly friendly staff! There are plenty of routes to choose from so you won’t get bored. I didn’t use the weights or yoga room, but the facilities look awesome.

Jade Doucet 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Probably the best climbing gym in the Denver area. I make a 45 minute drive at least once a week to climb at this location.

Brad Bogus 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: One of the best climbing gyms I've ever been to. Huge. All bouldering (which is my format). Crags to top out fully, caves, slabs, volume climbs, huge traverse walls, programmable and adjustable training walls, DAY CARE for us parents ... It's got it all, I left out all kinds of other things. Just come check it out.

Fantastic experience: Boulder problems here felt way more interesting / fun than say a combo gym like Golden. Lots of variety.

Fantastic experience: Excellent space for movement practitioners and super helpful staff! Shoutout to Monica & Russ ! A must visit for active folks in Denver looking for a friendly and inspiring community.

Asitha Kaduwela 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Really impressed with the size of this gym. There's ropes everywhere, even on the second floor! I like their bouldering testing system where you can try out problems and see if the rating is correct. If I'm ever in the area I'll definitely visit again.

Fantastic experience: Very fun gym with lots of routes of all sorts of different styles. The top out section is really cool and can ease people into topping out. The traverse wall is a great way to build endurance and nice to a quick warm-up to the day. The back walls along the buildings walls have comp/skill builders that always provide particularly unique problems (did I mention a beginner knee-bar?!?). They have a really nice cave to (tear your skin apart) build strength without the risk of taking a bit and awkward fall (sloped ground with the wall that is always 5 feet under you). Finally, they have a bunch of standard walls that you might expect from other gyms. Update: The route setting has gotten more challenging recently. Not really a con, it probably matches outdoor grades a bit closely, but be prepared when your normal grade feels tough here. There seem to be less white (easiest) routes then before too, making it slightly less beginner friendly. I still recommend the gym

Fantastic experience: Yay I'm so excited about this place!! I'm super new to climbing so not much to say about it climbing wise lol but it is spacious and huge. Awesome weight room. My roommates and I will have so much fun here! Also shoutout to Dan and Corey at the front desk - they're so helpful and friendly!!

Fantastic experience: the gym itself is pretty good. not the best i've been to but pretty good. the staff are super friendly though, always gretting you at the front desk with a smile and happy to help with anything you need

Fantastic experience: Amazing indoor gym to climb. World class setters always putting up great climbing. The cave is definitely my favorite.

Doran Teverovsky 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: It's good. Nice variety of walls. Sometimes, the starting holds for the routes are a little unclear especially on the slab wall. That's my only criticism

Pepe Ruiz 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this place. I love that moment when I am climbing and everything else disappears. Finding that "Flow" is priceless for me. I always know that if I need more cardio I can Jump in a Machine or a rower. I love it! So many options. Update: I've been coming here for about a year. I love that they change the routes regularly. Enough that you stay engaged with new paths, but not so often that you can't keep working on a problem.

Fantastic experience: This place is huge. Lots of bouldering problems for all skill levels. Parking can be tough in the area. Lots of people but friendly.

Nathan Lin 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Great gym for bouldering. Staff are cool and there are enough routes for all styles.

Fantastic experience: Great gym Consistent quality, creativity, and generally consistent ratings with regular resets. Clean, good temp regulation, nice variety of terrain, easy access off the highway. Plenty of parking before 10am weekdays. Early morning is a lower usage time with a focused, pleasant clientele. Have not tried evening, but I suspect they get busy. IMO highest quality routesetting for bouldering in the Movement gyms. Worth the time every time.

Fantastic experience: HUGE bouldering gym with great/fun route setting at all levels, friendly staff, decent gym space, and overall just great vibes. It's also a very reasonably priced membership compared to other climbing gyms I've been in. This gym made me fall in love with the sport for sure. Keep it up Movement!

Fantastic experience: Excellent gym for anyone. I have been a member for a year. I’m not a big climber, but I’ve found their yoga and fitness classes to be great. Their yoga classes are for all levels but their fitness classes are pretty intense (in a good way) but not for those just getting into fitness. Instructors are very knowledgeable and helpful, front desk staff are super friendly and kind. I love that they have an element of trying to be a part of the community with community climbs and other cool events. The space is enormous and the high ceilings make the airflow really well, which is good in the era of COVID. I can’t emphasize enough how much I enjoy going to this gym

Taylor DiTallo 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great facility with awesome staff! The climbing is awesome and the fitness and yoga classes are also appropriately challenging thanks to the great instructors. Having access to free weights and racks is also amazing, but it does get congested around the peak hours so plan accordingly if you plan to use the weight rooms.

Fantastic experience: Large bouldering gym with big space for other workouts as well. I come here often and enjoy it almost every time. I recommend learning about climbing etiquette before entering, even if you don’t plan to climb. I’ve seen dangerous, almost-fatal mistakes made in here because new people didn’t know what they were doing.

Fantastic experience: This is a great gym. Friendly staff, a lot of variety and free classes. It can get crowded at times, but you can always find a spot to do your thing.

Tanner Chung 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Came to visit a friend who climbs. Was very surprised that the gym has a weight room and classes on top of the bouldering! If I lived here this would be a great gym.

Calvin Goetz 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Definitely one of our favorite gyms in the area, although not one we go to most frequently, as getting over to RiNo in weekday traffic is a nightmare, so we'll usually only pop in on weekends, and it's usually a pretty moderate crowd. Usually love the routesetting in here, always some cool creative climbs to work on. It's bouldering only, FYI -- and there is an incredible amount of problems in here to try, from the top-out boulders to the long-route boulders, the back room boulders to the comp wall, there's always something for everyone.

Fantastic experience: Awesome facility with everything you could ever need — one of the two best bouldering gyms I’ve been to in the country. Also, extremely well-set problems!

Pepe Ruiz, SJ 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: This is a normal gym AND a rock climbing gym. They have cardio machines, weights, and fitness classes on top of having the chance to go climb a wall. I love it so much! I normally do a cardio session and then go climb or viceversa.

Mark Kusper 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Best bouldering gym I've been to. Staff is friendly , setting is great, and it has all the essential weight/cardio equipment. As a bonus, the gym is well lit and has a open layout that feels so much better than the typical dark, claustrophobia inducing bouldering gyms.

Caleb Smith 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great gym with multiple rooms for working out, numerous climbing walls and well maintained. Everyone here was super friendly and supportive of each other and the experience is on par. Membership fees are high, but you gain access to multiple locations. The biggest downside to this location is the lack of any parking options or structure around. I was able to find parking a couple of blocks away and walk, but given the high membership fees, I'd expect at least free and dedicated parking. I'd still highly recommend this spot.

Fantastic experience: Tons of variety for bouldering. Incredible space!

Brian Ray 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: I really like this place in terms of bouldering gyms I think it's got a little bit of everything which is great. Slab, long traverse walls, steep caves they've got it all. One minor caution though because everything is graded in ranges and all the different ranges are matching colors (which is great for identifying what things you'd be able to climb and what you can't) beginner climbers might FEEL like they aren't able to climb a lot of different things though it's more a feeling caused by the samey-ness of the color grading system.

Fantastic experience: Movement RiNo is a fantastic bouldering gym. They regularly change the climbs to keep it fun and interesting. Fun events and competitions bolster the strong community.

Rosa Gudny 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: A spacious bouldering gym, no rope climbing options. Great variety of walls, even a fun sideways climb to simulate a longer top rope route. The closeness to downtown means that the climbing community in this gym is younger.

Fantastic experience: We had an amazing time. It was our first time rock climbing in a hot minute! Amazing facilities, friendly staff, and helpful climbers. Folks were sweet in giving us pointers and advice. Very non judgemental environment and wall challenges for all levels. Definitely would recommend for an amazing workout or just a fun day out!

Gunnar Autterson 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: What an unbelievable gym! The customer service is some of the best in town and the setters here really know how to create a diverse training experience. So lucky to have a gym of this quality around!

Fantastic experience: When we visit Denver, the place to climb is the Movement chain of gyms. I’ve climbed at all their locations and this is just as great as the rest. There’s a good quality product on the wall here and the staff is very friendly. The facility is clean and well kept. It is bouldering only but if you are a rope climber don’t worry, there are nice long traverse routes of all grades that are worth doing. Shorter top out boulders are fun and worth doing. There are good training facilities and cardio equipment. It’s the complete picture. Some reviewers complain of the non strict grades (they grade the boulders with a range, e.g. V0-V2), but so what? It’s just plastic on the wall so get used to it, get on the boulders and have a good time. All the boulders I did were well constructed and had a theme to them. There was a good vibe from climbers of many different levels (VB all the way to V-double digit) when I visited.

Fantastic experience: My old gym was getting really stale. The style was okay, but there was no standard to the setting. When I come here, I'm having to use more hips and smart foot placements rather then pulling myself up. I'm really excited about the style and can't wait to improve my climbing even more

Andreas Lerch 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great bouldering facility! It caters well to all ages, offering some neat smaller top out boulders in the front and a large selection of walls in the back. Awesome workout facility closed off from the rest of the gym to keep chalk out. They have both a moon board tension board and adjustable back fill. Ample warm up space. And to top it off the route setting is top notch! They did an awesome job of diversifying the space and I enjoyed the comp style circuit that was set up. If I lived in Denver this would be my home gym for sure. On top of the great climbing they are attached to a brewery which is a great place to end a session or get some work done!

Fantastic experience: Biggest bouldering gym I have ever been to, and I have seen a few. Great big open space, has problems you can top out on, circuits, slabs, overhangs, a cave, everything! And there are even two fitness rooms with free weights as well as cardio machines. Nice changing rooms with lockers (bring your own lock!), free towels if you want to hop in the shower. Another plus is that it is located in a really cool area with lots of nice bars and restaurants around. Only con: Parking can be hard to find in the evening, use public transport if you can.

Libby Hsiao 5 years ago

Fantastic experience: Absolutely massive and open floorplan dedicated to bouldering. The staff seem friendly and drop in prices are reasonable given that you get full day access including the fitness and yoga classes. Memberships offer student and military/first responder discount rates and allows you to climb at any of their three locations. Steps from restaurants, breweries and cafes for some apres climbing socials makes this a pretty ideal location. All this has me considering them as my dedicated climbing gym where I but my membership!

Fantastic experience: Movement gyms are awesome to begin with... but this bouldering specific gym is amazing. Not only are there so many routes, there are a lot of really creative routes. Missing top rope action and endurance? check out the first bay with its horizontal top rope endurance routes - stay on them til the end, if you can!

Madison Hopkins 5 years ago

Fantastic experience: A great space! It’s very fresh and invites you to move around the whole area or you can feel like your accomplishing a lot in one spot. It’s all bouldering. It does have a weight gym and yoga room (which I’m excited to try!) I’m a novice climber and was able to find a variety of routes to climb. I like the grading system this gym is using (see scale when you go in) so it doesn’t feel like I am only climbing within 1 color grade.

Brian Stewart 5 years ago

Fantastic experience: This bouldering gym is the BEST! Such good problems and so much space. The staff rocks too. Great yoga classes. Beer next door is a solid cool down after a good sesh but won’t help you with that v8 you are working. Tell Fran I said hi...
