Naval Base Kitsap Bremerton Gym: Opinions
Fantastic experience: I haven't been to the gym since before COVID lockdowns. I'm sure the gym remains state of the art, with excellent assistance from staff
Positive experience: It’s a decent gym, main complaints are that they have a belt squat machine but they don’t have the proper belt and chain. And the sauna doesn’t get nearly hot enough.
Positive experience: Solid gym with everything you need for a good workout. Has a dry sauna and plenty of lockers. Only downside is there are no individual showers.
Fantastic experience: Very complete set of weights and machines, friendly staff and patrons. We're very happy we found NBK Bremerton fitness center. Two thumbs up!
Positive experience: Given the large number of Staff members that are always behind the desk usually looking at their phones I'd say they could pay a little more attention to cleanliness but generally the place is in good shape and a nice place to work out
Fantastic experience: Active or retired, great facility. Everything and a pool,
Negative experience: Has Very nice equip however the entire building smells. like mildew. as soon as i walk in there’s a very horrible mildew smell coming from the entrance. The entire time I trying to work out I couldn’t help but wonder the side affects of breathing in those spores. I. any be the only one that notices it. They need to have the entire build inspected for the source and fix the smell.
Positive experience: A good gym with plenty of equipment. However, I think it’s been a hot minute since the gym staff actually cleaned the place.
Fantastic experience: Awesome!!! Only thing I recommend is for the gym to open till 9 o clock.
Fantastic experience: Great work good people to help push you to your limits
Fantastic experience: Staff go above and beyond to help. Facility has great equipment. I only have a few things that could be improved. 1. More mirrors would be helpful, especially in the deadlift and squat room to see form 2. The saunas could use a deep cleaning 3. Investing in better spray bottles would be a good idea! 4. The bucket/rag system is very disorganized. I would rather have a spray bottle holder and something better to hold the rags. 5. The pink towels are pretty pointless. It’s just a waste of money to buy pink dye. I don’t think it would decrease the likelihood of someone stealing them. 6. The roof seems to have leaks all of the time all around the facility. A huge safety hazard! There are towels on the floor and buckets but those are tripping hazards. 7. The stairs in the older gym are horrible. I have fallen multiple times. Replacements would be greatly appreciated.
Fantastic experience: It's been over ten years since I went here, but it was great when I went back to go workout during my recent trip. Many improvements!
Fantastic experience: Love the pool
Fantastic experience: Enjoy the group spin and workout classes. The instructors are top notch!
Fantastic experience: Spotless facility with every piece of modern gym equipment you could want. I'm grateful it's free for me to use as a service member. The staff is amiable and helps spot people for lifts.
Positive experience: Actually a pretty nice gym
Negative experience: Old man in the front checking IDs is a hypocrite. He "enforces" dress code on some. Others he just lets walk in wearing what's literally on the do not wear poster. When confronted, he says he's never seen me wear a shirt that he's seen me in multiple times & that he talks to everyone he sees in violation of his dress code. Talking to other patrons in "violation" of dress code confirms that is a lie. Horrible MWR experience
Fantastic experience: Everything you need
Positive experience: It's a naval base. You either work here or you take advantage of the services. If you do either, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.
Positive experience: Great big gym, but VERY crowded. Nice and clean showers and tons of lockers.
Fantastic experience: Love it, if you have access its a nice gym with great staff!
Fantastic experience: Small CrossFit-style section. No sleds or tires.
Positive experience: As an Air Force guy I went to see the Aircraft Carriers and submarines. It was cool.
Fantastic experience: Been working out here for the past 3 years and they have a good variety of equipment and very friendly people who work there!
Fantastic experience: Always kind and clean. Brand new weights have been bought which makes it even better.
Fantastic experience: For a military gym, I was surprised with the quality of equipment they had (ROGUE stuff especially). Air conditioning was not on when I worked out, so getting warmed up was easy but I started to get drenched after awhile, so good and bad. Overall, it was quite the good experience.
Fantastic experience: Great place to workout!
Fantastic experience: Kool
Positive experience: Clean facility and good gym equipment
Fantastic experience: It free for government employees
Positive experience: Dec 16, 2020. It's only open to active duty and active reservists. The old gym is closed and half the basketball court has been partitioned off. Fountains are secured. If you forget to come with a full bottle of water, there is a vending machine available. Showers are secured too.
Fantastic experience: Very attentive staff, also very proactive with Corona controls and safety
Negative experience: Open to active duty only, during quarantine. Unsanitary and a fire hazard in older part of the gym. Would not recommend to anyone.
Fantastic experience: Good equipment and service
Fantastic experience: Nice but its closed right now
Fantastic experience: Better than Bangor
Negative experience: This gym is very family friendly, but equipment is outdated and the floor is very slick and NOT great for power lifters. Great staff and clean environment just needs more updates around the gym.
Positive experience: Always dirty, I don’t think they ever sweep or mop the gym floor
Fantastic experience: Huge gym, nice staff, quality equipment.
Fantastic experience: state of the art, just gets extremely crowded when the 2 stationed air craft arriers are pulled in. 2 full size gyms, racquetball, pool, sauna everything one could need in a fitness center. Always crowded is the one downside, but has 2 separate workout areas and cardio areas
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Clean and staff is super friendly.
Fantastic experience: My favorite military gym that I've ever been to
Negative experience: No mil bering
Fantastic experience: Very nice gym. Unfortunately I'm not active duty and can't get a membership
Positive experience: The gym is like any other gym on a military base. What can I say. The price is right. Just try to figure out when the commands are running the PRT so you can avoid that place like the plague. I have never used the pool but I have heard it is nice.
Positive experience: I'd give it 5 stars except they close the pool from 9-1100 it makes it hard for night shift workers
Fantastic experience: Get stacked but make sure to get your ticket in line cause your gonna be waiting ahwhile
Fantastic experience: This is an excellent gym with outstanding facilities.
Fantastic experience: Great place
Fantastic experience: It's a good gym
Fantastic experience: It's pretty good I guess
Fantastic experience: Very nice base
Fantastic experience: Awesome place with lots of equipment. Everything is clean, and the staff is friendly.
Fantastic experience: Ausum!
Positive experience: Clean, roomy, but crowded
Positive experience: Nice safe place
Fantastic experience: Kind of old, but plenty of equipment
Fantastic experience: Perfect clean Family gym with an assortment of movies for the kids to watch, art supplies, and a decent amount of machines, yoga equipment and free weights to suit my needs. Love this gym. :)
Positive experience: One of the better base gyms I've been too. But still could be better
Fantastic experience: Proud of our Sailors
Positive experience: It's a bit ratty and not up to the standards of a gym you'd actually pay to use. The building has poor ventilation in many spots, which can make it overly hot sometimes. Our service members deserve better.
Fantastic experience: Best one in the area
Positive experience: I really love this gym. Lots of equipment that is well maintained and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I am only giving it a 4 star because it is always very busy when I go and is a little cramped. (Around 5 am or 4:30 pm)
Fantastic experience: Always love this gym. Great selection of everything you could need. Pool gets crowded early around 0500 but not a big deal. It's amazing how big the place really is when you start walking around and opening doors.
Fantastic experience: Spacious and varied, great for lifting and cardio. Would pay for a membership here if it was not a naval gym.
Fantastic experience: Very nice gym, heated pool, Jacuzzis, spa, free weights, and other weights, 2 basketball courts, 2 racquetball courts, cross fit rooms of all sorts, yoga room, classes, and equipment, towels, wrestling team and mats, free personal trainers, and physical therapy. It can get crowded right before and after work, so try going during the day or lunch if you have a very specific machine rotation.
Positive experience: Olympic sized pool lots of machines only treadmill for inside run. Seemed crowded in mid morning.
Negative experience: The pool hours change without notice, the staff themselves didn't know their pool hours changed. The showers run out of hot water in minutes. The worst base gym I've ever had the misfortune of being stuck with. If Bangor was closer and traffic wasn't terrible I'd never go here.
Positive experience: The gym is well equipped, the cardio gear is very sporadically laid out. The free weights and weight machines are centrally located and have a good variety of equipment.
Fantastic experience: I've been coming to this gym for the last 4 plus years and will as long as I am a able. You have to have access to the base to get in the gym, but if you do this gym is A1. Lots of equipment, different classes, helpful/knowledgeable staff, open floor plan with lots of different rooms, basketball courts, baseball/soccer/football field. This gym is great. Oh and it's FREE.
Fantastic experience: Helpful staff, open floor plan, many different rooms for different activities. Try to avoid going during peak times as you will be waiting for almost every machine.
Positive experience: The good: great equipment and open space The bad: too popular. Very crouded at peak times.
Fantastic experience: Free clean alot of equip
Fantastic experience: Great place, staff, and classes. Plus the trainers are awesome.
Fantastic experience: Knowledgeable staff, clean facility, great equipment.
Fantastic experience: All around gym that has everything you need to exercise. Basketball courts, racquetball, boxing room, aerobics rooms, swimming pool, every new state of the art exercise machines and free weights. plus good personal trainer that know what they are doing. The staff keeps it clean and safety first
Fantastic experience: Great place to work out they have any machine you could possibly use.
