Highlights of the club include:

However, several members have voiced concerns regarding certain aspects of the gym:

Boston Sports Clubs: Opinions

Fantastic experience: I really love the group classes especially Pilates with Sharon Cardamone— it’s very hard to find a classical mat Pilates class and hers is excellent. It’s perfect for those looking to maintain back health and come back from injuries. I also love the glute and upper body strength classes
Hi Lesley, thank you for your five star review of our classes at our Boylston location. We look forward to seeing you again in class soon!
Fantastic experience: I've been taking classes with Sharon, and she's wonderful. I started with Pilates and have now started her yoga classes. I have a slight disability, and Sharon has been super-helpful in guiding me through my return to fitness.
Hi Richard, we are happy to hear that you are enjoying class with Sharon and that she has helped to make your return to fitness a success. Keep up the great work!
Fantastic experience: I am going to give a 4.5 stars since there is always room to improve, e.g. improving the cleanliness of the gym especially the locker room and bathroom area, checking closely on things, such as hanging hooks in the pool areas, to be replaced or fixed in a timely manner. The club has a lot of good group teachers. I am disappointed that some of my favorite classes were cut due to low attendance rate, including one of the yoga classes taught by Sharon. I have been going the class taught by Sharon, who is a seasoned Ashtanga yoga teacher. She gives clear instructions and offers modifications according to students needs. I always feel good after the class. I also value the location of the club which has a swimming pool. Most of the gyms in Boston closed their swimming pools. The implementation of reservation for the pool since the pandemic has been very helpful, and the staff are kind to help take the reservation. I used to wait for half an hour to get a free lane to swim in the past. I hope the club Boylston will continue to keep up the good condition.
Hi Owan, thank you for your positive review of our Boylston location. We hope to keep improving for you!
Fantastic experience: Pilates and yoga classes are great at this location! Beginner friendly and easy to follow instructors. Sharon and Ina are great instructors , definitely recommend their classes. Staff is also very nice.
Hi Nifetery, thank you for your five star review of classes at our Boylston location. See you for your next classes!
Fantastic experience: I value very much the group classes. Instructors are terrific especially Ina, Sharon and Jacqueline. I wish more classes with them.
Hi Jocelyne, thank you for your five star review of our Boylston location. We are happy to hear that you are enjoying classes with us!
Fantastic experience: I love this gym—Sharon's saturday pilates class is my can't-miss weekly ritual!
Hi Maria, we are happy to hear that Sharon's Pilates class has become part of your weekly ritual. See you for your next class!
Fantastic experience: Good gym! We love the Saturday lunch pilates class with Sharon. Our weekend go-to
Hi Alessandro, thank you for your five star review of Pilates with Sharon at our Boylston location. See you for your next class!
Negative experience: They’ve cut classes while increasing prices. Didn’t address water damage for months. Lost their towel vendor and couldn’t find a replacement for more than a month. “Renovations” just spread out machines and weights. HIIT area needs expanding. Equipment is old. Sandbags leak.
Hi Sam, we are sorry to hear that you are not enjoying your experience with us. We are in the midst of upgrades here and hope you can enjoy them soon!
Fantastic experience: I value the group classes tremendously. They are so critical of my overall health. There is good variety of classes. I wish there are more. Teachers are all great, especially Kerry and Sharon, terrific instructors. Their routines are challenging enough that you feel like it’s worth the time to come to classes, yet not too difficult. They themselves demonstrate perfectly. There are other good instructors, too many to mention.
Hi Ying-He, thank you for your five star review of our Boylston location. Keep up the great work!
Negative experience: Two stars for the sauna which is actually decent. There are little kids getting their diapers changed on the benches in the locker room on weekends. They run all over the place and parents leave strollers in everyone’s way. Hours are bad. It’s pretty dirty all the time even at 5:30am right when they open. Machines are older than my great grandmother. Used to be like 18 treadmills but half of them broke and have been gone for, not kidding, over six months.
Hi Elliott, we are sorry to hear that Boylston is not meeting your needs. We appreciate your feedback and hope we can improve your experience.
Negative experience: This gym is going under, they don’t care about their members or the quality of the gym. They increased the membership price this year to $85!! They just closed their best location in downtown crossing. Brian the manager didn’t return my multiple calls and requests to cancel. He was unsympathetic with any of the issues, just made excuses for incompetence. This gym is in a basement. The air is stagnant. The pool is small and dirty, never gets cleaned. The whole place smells bad of chlorine. They had water damage months ago and half the facility has been closed off, with no sign of repair. The sauna is too dry and not hot enough, they don’t let you pour water on the rocks. The towels are too small and not often than not they run out so you can’t even use the shower. There is no swim suit dryer. The lockers are broken and falling off the hinges. One of the fountains is broken too. The equipment is pretty dated but ok.
Negative experience: Pros — old school cybex equipment, Icarian machines/benches, Plenty of squat rack options and deadlift options, bumper plates Cons — most unkept and unsanitary gym I've been to in Boston, deadlift platforms are dented in, they fix nothing, limited cardio area (they got rid of most broken machine) a lot of bum ass rift raft people who go because it's the cheapest gym.
Hi Jeff, we are sorry to hear that you are not enjoying your experience at our Boylston location. We hope we can improve your experience with us.
Negative experience: Update 4/15/25: After 5 weeks with no hot water in February and March we are now on week 4 with No towels at all. It is certainly inconvenient to carry them back and forth, but the lack of communication around these issues has been extreme poor.. no emails or updates on the website the last 2 weeks and when you ask a person at the desk they say they don’t know or “probably a week or two”. This, combined with dozens of broken lockers and mold around the soaps and on the shower ceilings leaves me very disappointed in how this gym is run. I stay due to the location, but may look for other options. ——/ It is generally fine, and has ok equipment, but I am here tonight and once again they ran out of all towels.. for machines, showering.. no towels. Really not an ok issue for a gym and this time it messed up my plans to work out before meeting folks for dinner. Some staff are helpful, but others are rude. One guy comes in the locker room most nights at 8:50pm and yells “5 minutes! and generally seems annoyed and angry. It would be nice if they stayed open a bit later 10pm weekdays and 8pm weekends would be helpful
Hi Adam, we apologize for the inconvenience of running out of towels. We hope this does not happen again for you!
Negative experience: Many machines are broken. Half of the treadmills don’t work. They don’t fix broken equipment.
Hi Brad, we are sorry that you have had a less than positive experience at our Boylston location. We hope we can make a difference in the quality of your workouts.
Negative experience: There are eight working treadmills here - which are all over 20 years old. Another dozen have been sitting there FOR OVER A YEAR with signs saying "we are working on this" but no repair activity ever seen. Lines of folks waiting every day for those who like to scroll on phones while they walk for an hour. Absolutely ridiculous. Another pet peeve is the custodian mops the entire locker room and showers every weekday at 5pm the very busiest time - really??
Hi D, we are sorry to hear that your experience has been less than great. We do our best to address maintenance requests but sometimes parts and service provider availability will slow repairs down. We appreciate this feedback and do hope we can have these machines up and running in a timely manner.
Negative experience: This is a bad gym. I only go there because it is the closest to my house. The machines are rusty, the locker rooms are always dirty, the towels are small and washed out, the showers are very dirty, there is not always hot water, there are some insects and mold, the pool is rusty, the sauna is cold.
Hi Daria, we are sorry to hear that you are not enjoying your experience at our Boylston location. We appreciate your feedback on our facilities.
Negative experience: Mediocre gym with extremely shady billing practices. I used the Prudential Center location in May/June 2023 while in Boston for a 6-week contract. I agreed to a month-by-month membership, to be canceled in mid-June ahead of the July billing cycle. At the end of my contract I confirmed cancellation in person at the front desk of that location. However NYSC/BSC have continued to charge me $74.99 monthly as of April 2024. The gym itself was fine, often crowded, and sometimes lacking hot water. The business practices however are poor and very underhanded.
Hi James, we are sorry to hear that you have had a less than positive experience at our Boylston location. We will have a member of our team reach out to you to work towards a resolution.
Negative experience: How do I get removed from their email list?
Hi Matthew, please reach out to the club directly and they will be able to assist.
Negative experience: Do not sign up for the partner promotion gift card. I never got it, it’s been like 10 months and I sent an email and spoke to the front desk people about it like 5 times :/
Hi Alex, we are sorry to hear that you never received your gift card. We have escalated this to management at this location and someone will be reaching out to you soon.
Negative experience: I noticed today that they suddenly changed closing time during weekend from 6 to 5 without any advance notice. Everybody was upset about it. Many treadmills have been broken for a long time. Locker room and sauna are always super dirty. They just don’t care anything about members at all. I just wish there were much better than this but I know they never can be.
Hello Naoki,
We appreciate your positive review.
Thank you for choosing to partner with us on your fitness journey.
Regards,
Gregg
Negative experience: I am a NYSC member. This was an awesome club until 2-3 months ago when the other location at the Pru shut down - there are WAY too many people here now to the point of being absolutely ridiculous. NYSC - PLEASE expand or buy another location it is frankly unfair to long time members that this was not thought through
Hi Erik, thank you for your feedback about our Boylston location. With this new merge of clubs, we are working to understand how to best control an increased population. We appreciate all feedback to help us understand the member experience and work to improve it.
Negative experience: Well, the staff are friendly and the gym is sufficiently equipped. However, this location cannot handle the new volume of customers induced by the closure of the Prudential Center location at the beginning of January. The gym is very busy at all hours, and management has not taken steps to add basic equipment, such as benches. I used to enjoy this space, but if you are new to the area and searching for a gym, I recommend looking elsewhere.
Hi Kevin, thank you for your feedback on our Boylston location. We appreciate the feedback on the new flow of traffic here and will take it into consideration as we see this new influx of members.
Negative experience: I tried but it's a no go. Based on reviews of how crowded it is at peak times in the afternoon/evening, I went at about 7:30 AM and it was packed. Also, the sauna was just lukewarm. It's a decent facility and the front desk employee was personable, but the place just can't handle the massive amount of people who now live in this part of Boston. And like most gyms in young urban professional dominated areas, serious lack of gym etiquette and self-centered behavior. No thanks. Would rather pay a little more to get away from some of the riff raff.
Hi sheepdog, we are sorry to hear that you have had a less than positive experience at our Boylston location. We have recently seen an influx of members at this location, and appreciate the feedback on traffic flow and gym etiquitte.
Positive experience: The gym has all the standard equipment you’d expect, but the weight lifting area is small and you often have to wait for equipment since there is (rarely) more than one machine for a lift. It’s also ALWAYS crowded here no matter when you go - I think this is because they closed their other locations in the area so everyone is going here. I will only be around for a few months so I can tolerate it but if I was looking for a long term gym I wouldn’t choose this. Showers are janky in the men’s locker area too (not dirty but the water pressure is bad on most of them and some are missing handles).
Hi Eben, thank you for your feedback on our Boylston location. We appreciate the insight into general flow of the gym and equipment use and will use it to improve member experiences here.
Negative experience: Doesn't alert people when exceptionally closing expecting people to check their website before coming instead of sending an email.
Louis- we are so sorry to hear. We did put an alert on our website and within our app to Boylston members. Rest assured, we try our best to not have to interrupt members and close access. This should be a short term disruption (one day) and we will confirm the alerts are there to ensure issues no longer arise.
Fantastic experience: Great gym overall. Been coming for a few months now and have had an excellent experience. The trainers and management are professional and helpful, and over my short time I’ve seen continuous improvements with cleaning staff, equipment, and A/C. The contracts put into place by the actual NYSC business can be a little dodgy, but the staff at this location helped me understand the fine print to the point where I’ve had no problems with my membership/billing.
Logan - Thank you for your wonderful review of the Boylston location. We love that our gym is exceeding your expectations via our professional and helpful staff and continuous improvements. We do strive to be transparent in our agreements and billing and are hapy to hear staff has been able to assit you with this aspect of the gym. We look forward to seeing you in a club soon!
Fantastic experience: The staff (led by Paul) at the Boylston St venue is the best. Very friendly but chill. The crowd who work out here is HOT so I’m very inspired to work hard. The machines are typically in working order and it’s big enough to accommodate the heavy flow.
Joey - Thank you for your 5 star review of the Boylston location. We love feedback calling out our friendly staff and inspiring atmosphere in the club. We wish you success on your fitness journey at NYSC.
Fantastic experience: Question: Does this location offer free parking?
Smit - Our Boylston location does not have free parking. We do hope you visit one of our locations as we would love to have you as our guest. Please visit our website for details. We look forward to being your neighborhood gym!
Fantastic experience: very friendly staff and clean equipment/facilities
Kerishma - Thank you for your reivew of our Boylston location. We are thrilled this location's staff and equipment are exceeding your expectations. We thank you for being part of the NYSC family and wish you success along your fitness journey at NYSC.
Negative experience: The gym is okay for $79.99 a month. However equipment is always broken and the billing is shady. I canceled my membership May 25 which was 7 days before the next billing cycle; therefore I should not be charged a cancel fee and I was told I would not be charged come June. 1. However June 1, I was charged a random amount of $5 from the BSC. I waited a week to see if the charge would drop off and it never did. When I went in person to dispute the charge the front desk girl was rude and rolled her eyes at me because I was insisting they charge my card. She kept saying their system didnt show a charge and that its only $5 so theres nothing they can do somce there system doesnt show the charge. I asked for someone else to talk to and she said they dont give out numbers or info for people to contact them. I even asked about a billing department number to see if someone could look deeper into my account since she was not being helpful and she said they do not have one. Currently they still have my card on file, my bank has confirmed that the BSC did charge me on June 1 and the BSC does not care to find out why I was charged or where my money went. I am extremely irritated by this, as their staff lacks customer service and professionalism and clearly my card information is not safe with them. Because they think a random $5 charge is no big deal, but it is my money and I currently am not a member so why would I be okay with a random charge on my credit card? After I walked away I heard the two front desk people talking about how this has happened to other people except with larger charges and there’s nothing they can do about it. Again they lack professionalism and poorly handled this situation. Update: I was told the General Manager would reach out to me within 48hours of when I spoke to the front desk people. However its been a week and no one was has called, no one has left a voicemail, and no one has emailed me to explain why or how my card is still able to be charged. Update #2: on June 10, I was charged $39.99, while my membership was still canceled. Paul is the front desk guy that I previously spoke with and I spoke with him again today. When I asked why no one ever followed up with me after almost 2 weeks, he said “thats weird, who did you speak with?” And when I told him that it was him I spoke with, he acted like he didn’t remember. So as we continued speaking about the unauthorized charges I referenced our previous conversation and he “corrected” me saying that was not what he had said in our last conversation….which I found ironic because 5 minutes ago he told me he didnt recall talking to me at all. I asked for my credit card to be removed from their system as I do not trust them with my info and I am no longer paying for services, but I was told they can not remove my card. I asked again for the general manager to be informed and to follow up with me before the end of the week, because I am annoyed that my card is continuing to be charged. They dont care to fix the problem or remove my card from their file…. Which would solve the problem. Based on their terrible customer service, I do not believe that the GM will reach out to me about deleting my card from their system. Ultimately I think the BSC/NYSC is extremely shady with their billing practices and I regret ever giving them my credit card to put on file. Do not make the same mistake as me. Find a gym else where, because they are nit worth the money or the hassle.
Katelyn - Thank you for providing a review and feedback for Boylston. Your experience does not meet our expectations for customer service. We strive to provide a great fitness experience partnered with helpful, professional staff. We have shared your feedback with senior leadership.
Negative experience: I tried to cancel my membership because the cleanliness/upkeep of the Boston locations seems to have gone downhill over the last year or so. The website makes it impossible to cancel your membership online, so I called the club to cancel. I was extremely clear about wanting to cancel my membership, and the person on the phone stated that they had fully cancelled my account and that I would be receiving a confirmation email shortly. I never got the confirmation email, so I went back in to check the status of my account online. They had NOT cancelled my membership, but rather only delayed my next payment by a month. This was really deceptive - and it was clearly not what I had asked for. The person on the phone made it seem like they cancelled my membership, and I would have been charged if I had not double checked the status on my end. This was really frustrating and a bad way to end my membership with the gym.
Patrick - We are sorry to hear about your recent experience at Boylston. We strive to be transparent with our cancel policies and procedures so to provide great customer service. It appears we fell short. We have shared this feedback with senior leadership. We wish you well along your fitness journey.
Fantastic experience: I had the opportunity to train as NYSC Boylston for the first time this weekend. Upon arrival I recieved a warm greeting from Claudia, the front desk staff member! She showed me around the facility and explained all the amenities the club offered. I had a great time, thank you Claudia!
Hi Alexander, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. It is truly touching to know you think so highly of us! We're always happy to assist so don't hesitate to reach out to us if you need anything. Please let us know what we can do for you in the future.

Positive experience: Often missing soap at showers. Inconsistent with towel service Month later: no soap in any shower for 4 days. NYSC is not doing a good job.
Hello Don - thank you for your review. We will be sure to pass the feedback along to our club team. We sincerely apologize for your most recent experience with us. Please give us a chance to show you that we can do better.

Positive experience: Tiene una piscina , que le da ventaja sobre otros clubes, el personal que atiende y el encargado está muy pendiente de todo, muy bien. La sauna es pequeña pero funciona bien , está bien para mi gusto y para mí paso por Boston.
Hi Luis, Thank you for the awesome feedback. We are happy that you are enjoying our club. Please let us know if there's anything we can improve on by contacting us at [email protected].
Fantastic experience: The club is very conveniently located in a large, clean, well-lit space that isn't crowded. There's a 3 lane pool where one can reserve a lane. There's plenty of equipment , and the staff is friendly and helpful. The gym members are polite and respectful. My only criticism is that the wifi doesn't connect automatically. I need to enter the password every time I go.
Frederick, Thank you for the awesome feedback for our Boylston location. We value your feedback and look forward to seeing you again soon! We hope to become one of your favorites. Let us know what we need to do to earn your continued loyalty. It was a pleasure to serve you.

Negative experience: gym is locked and will not answer their phone is is 6:15 on 09/07/22 there is no reason for this
Emma we are sorry that this morning our gym did not open on time. We have escalated this to both the club and district leadership. We hope that our gym provides a better experience moving forward. If it does, we would love an updated review.
Negative experience: Standing outside at 6:22 am when they should have been open at 6. Lousy work ethic here- they routinely open late and they just shrug.
Hello Marc, Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry you had a bad experience with our recent club openings. We hope you will consider visiting us again so we can turn your experience around as we hope to be better.

Fantastic experience: This review is in honor of Jessica, Boylston, and in the voice of ESP my initials , who after speaking with me, and onceJamie , whose wisdom educated me proper taught me how incorrect the other team members were in accordance with policy guidelines. Now as a point of honor Jessica and I came to an agreement, a payment arrangement had been made, after around 7 team members at Prudential misled me on the date in. March that I’d be billed. Too many unexpected bills ruin a business just ask Machine now bankrupt one year after they improperly handled this Bostonian. Jamie’s wisdom, however, educated me with thoroughgoing accuracy upon the date I’d be billed for the yearly in March and I was very specific about dates with another manager, obviously not a woman who misled me on the weight of gold I’d be out of that basic 70 bucks or I’d be over there at Prudential as I love it there too but I hate being misled. For what it’s worth today Eddie a team member said and I quote “ Oh that’s ok you can work out today, shower and whatever “ as if I were poor as if I hadn’t worked out an arrangement as if he had any power in his team member positioning and from what I understood he sucked at Baskeball which I exceed in. I’m praying no hoping Eddie becomes educated because should he not understand that a They Them Pronoun specifically educating all on and not caring with 11 dead grandmothers buried right here in Massachusetts makes me a 13th generation abolitionist and I don’t take lightly to being told I’m poor because my Soul is rich and I have Jesus and Mary to thank for that and many others especially Jessica and Jamie. Thank you Boylston Thank you Again Amen
Dayerkk,
Thank you for the 5-star rating of our Boylston location! We’re so happy your membership experience went so smoothly with Jessica and Jamie. We love to provide excellent service to awesome members like you. If you ever need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out to [email protected].

Negative experience: Cancelled at the end of the month. The employee did not put my cancellation through and I was charged for the next month. Cannot get a hold of the manager to discuss getting a refund despite specifically asking to be contacted by them repeatedly. One particular staff member was incredibly rude and unprofessional over the phone. Would not recommend their gyms under any circumstance. A waste of money.
Stefaniya,
We are sorry for your experience at our Boylston location. Your review is concerning as we take pride in offering a best-in-class cancel policy. We have a cancel anytime policy, where members can cancel their membership online, in club, or by mail and their cancel effective date is always the first of the following month. We would appreciate it if you would contact our team by emailing [email protected] so that we can review your recent experience.

Fantastic experience: Every time I’ve gone all of the staff are friendly knowledgeable about their facility. I’ve never seen a more clean a gym from top to bottom. No sweat stains on machines, or overcrowded workout areas. I’m able to get in do the workouts that I need and get out without a hassle. If you need a good gym I highly recommend it.

Negative experience: machines always broken, poor hours, freeze fees came back out of nowhere, they freeze your account for some time without warning resume it and charge you. just obnoxious
Negative experience: Just another lowly chain gym with no sense of community or inclusion. The manager has the absolute most disgusting attitude i’ve ever encountered. Go ANYWHERE else.
Will, thank you very much for your feedback. We take all of our member's feedback to heart - it helps us provide the best possible experience in our club. We would love to know more about what went wrong and, if possible, how to make it up to you. If you are open to discussing, please reach out at [email protected].

Negative experience: Boston Sports Club and it’s former parent company (TSI) are probably the worst company I have ever done business with. They fraudulently charged me membership fees during the pandemic when the club was not even open. And provided no option to cancel membership. They charged me nearly $800 in fraudulent charges. This is truly the worst and most dishonest company. TSI is now in bankruptcy proceedings and formed a separate company to operate BSC clubs, partially to shirk any responsibility of their behavior during the pandemic. I feel as if they took advantage of a global pandemic - a time when so many people were suffering and just trying to survive - to continue to profit. I would NOT recommend that anyone join this club given their dishonest business practices and clear efforts to fleece members.
Amy,
Thank you for the feedback, and I apologize for the negative experience you had in our club. We take all of our member's feedback to heart. We're in the process of making some significant changes.
I want to learn how we could avoid these mistakes in the future and for the chance to make this up to you. I am having a bit of trouble finding your account; if you’re open to discussing further, please reach out to me at [email protected].

Positive experience: The gym is returning back in shape. They have since reopened the sauna and have relaxed some of the restrictions. This is good news. However, please return the towel service! The towel service was indeed convenient but is also more hygienic than members bringing in towels from home. Also, it should not be that much of an expenditure or an effort for BSC to offer this service. There are industrial sized washers and dryers on site in this gym in a closet on the side. Staff can stuff the dirty towels in the machines and fold them when they are ready. Also, the availability of towels at the gym will prompt more people to come in and work out more frequently particularly if they don't have to worry about bringing their own towel in. This was indeed a great amenity and convenience. Please return it! Also, please extend the hours particularly on the weekends. Closing at 4:00 p.m. on the weekends is a little early. By having the gym open a couple extra hours on weekends and even on the weekdays it would provide more flexibility and make it less crowded as the bandwidth of time to work out would be widened. Also as people are returning to work and school the extra hours would indeed be beneficial for members and the club.
Negative experience: As expensive as luxury gyms and lacks basic amenities (like towel service)

Negative experience: General Manager, like many others have said, is very rude! She/Hers/Her likes to talk down to you over the phone. Very Accusatory and Prejudice when it comes to asserting stereotypes over the phone.

Fantastic experience: Update 4.20.2021- BSC added an option from their APP that is awesome! One can book a time for a swimming lane reservation 'Pool Reservation' and proceed up to 2 weeks in advance. In addition, if one needs to cancel because of a personal or professional schedule change, there is also the option to do so, freeing that time frame for other Member to use the time to make his or her Pool Reservation. Click on Find a Class and it will take you to Pool Reservation! When the Club reopened, I went to visit at the end of August 2020 to see what measures were taken to ensure the safety of the Members who wanted to go back to the Gym or the pool. I liked the automatic take of each member's frontal temperature, the questions asked at the desk and the obligation to wear a mask while in the premises. I went back the next day to swim at the pool and have been 5 x week since. I feel very comfortable and safe in this location with the pool restrictions and the very frequent cleaning of the pool & the locker area and, as I noticed, in the gym area as well. Thumbs up to BSC Boylston for having put that in place and for keeping it safe that way. In addition the team working there has always been very welcoming. Gerard Riveron since my last review, the Club has successfully put in place a reservation rule to swim. One can just call a day before of stop by the desk to reserve a swimming lane for a 30 minutes swim at a specific time. This allows to enforce the limitation of 3 swimmers only at the same time in the pool area, each in his or her own swimming lane. Bravo !
Thank you for the kind words, Gerard! We’re so happy your membership experience went so smoothly. We love to provide great service to awesome members like you. If you ever need anything please do not hesitate to reach out to [email protected].

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member with Boston sports club for about it months now and I really enjoy my experience. They have a functional fitness area, a good selection of cardio, bumper plates and a solid straight training area, and a pool. Management and staff seem to be friendly and open to concerns, Facility is also kept very clean.

Negative experience: BSC Worst Manager without education with people. I have been a member for over 10 years. I have never been humiliated before in front of other people. Before entering the gym we have to read articles and take the temperature for CORV19. That is fine. I like that procedure. It's SAVE and then you CHECK IN with your phone or card pad. The front desk guy asked me if I read the Articles. I said YES I did it and he kept saying in front 4 people I didn't read and started an argument with me for no reason.
Thank you for great feedback Andre! We’re so happy your membership experience is going so smoothly. We love to provide great service to awesome members like you. If you ever need anything please do not hesitate to reach out to [email protected].

Positive experience: Parking is kinda tricky
Fantastic experience: This place has been like a home to me ever since I moved to Boston. Love the atmosphere, the overall friendliness of the staff and trainers, and they have every single piece of equipment you need in a gym. It is the best gym for the money, super affordable, clean, every piece of equipment you need, and they have friendly staff who are willing to take care of you. It's a place where you feel welcomed and a place where you get results, grow, learn, and meet people. Very happy with the results from personal training and love working out here. Best location in Boston.

Fantastic experience: I joined BSC when I moved to Boston almost 2 years ago. I hav always enjoyed the gym and was obviously disappointed when COVID / quarantine began earlier this year. Once the gyms re-opened, I stopped by to see how the gym was and I was very happy with all that I saw. The gym was spotless, equipment was spaced out/marked off to keep distance between other members. EVERYONE was wearing masks. I felt and continue to feel very safe and welcomed at this gym. The entire staff is doing a great job keeping up with these very difficult times that we are in.
Hi Debbie

Negative experience: BSC Boylston charged me for having membership with them during quarantine, when the gym was closed. They also refused to cancel my membership when I gave them multiple calls and hoped for their understanding during the pandemic. After reaching out to them and asking to kindly cancel my membership, they continued to charge me and refused to cooperate. The worst gym experience ever!
Hi Natalie
We appreciate the feedback. We would love to connect with you personally to try and help resolve this matter. If you can copy and paste this review and send it to [email protected] with your contact information, a Business Director will assist you. Be well, TSI H2h

Fantastic experience: I am not the type of person who takes the time to write a review, ever. As a matter of fact I always wondered what would compel someone to take the time to do this. That was until I experienced such great customer service I felt compelled to make it public. At the beginning of the pandemic I was forced to leave the state and was in contact with the BSC Boylston manager Mr. Zappala. I will spare everyone the details but suffice it to say he was not only prompt and professional in his communication, he was understanding and compassionate. At a time when so many corporations are feeling the pressure of an uncertain economic future it was a pleasure to work with a branch so willing to work on behalf of their customers. Thanks for all your hard work and help BSC Boylston!
Hi Raquel
We hope this response finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. We're so glad that you had a positive Customer Service experience working with Andrew. We're glad you were able to get the issue resolved while not being in the State. We truly appreciate the review and the shout out about Andrew. We're so lucky to have him. Negative experience: Manager signed me up under a promotion where I wouldn’t have to pay the first two months of a membership fee. The company still billed me those two months and then refused to refund the incorrect charges.

Negative experience: I have been trying to cancel my membership since February, and it's now July and I am still unable to do so. I first emailed the representative who helped me open my account, and never got any response, and I got charged for March regardless. I emailed again in late March about cancellation, and the employee assured me I'm not getting charged since everyone's membership is frozen due to COVID-19, and gave me the impression that I cannot cancel my membership while it's frozen. I was moving away from Boston at the time so I didn't have the energy to deal with that and let it slipped. Today, I just found that I got charged for the membership again. I am very upset since I was not informed that the membership is unfrozen and I would get charged again. I called my home gym and asked to cancel, but they told me I would need to either go in physically or send a physical letter. I have moved away from Boston, so my only option left is to send a physical letter in! the! year! of! 2020! Plus I probably will never get my membership fee from March and July back. Deeply frustrating. Beware.
Hi Yunting
We hope this email finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. In order to cancel your membership at this time, we're asking our members to either go into the club if it's open or if you don't feel comfortable doing this you can send a letter requesting your intent to cancel. At the time, you weren't able to cancel because you needed to request to remove your membership from Freeze to do so. Respectfully, you had the proper information prior to leaving Boston to handle the situation correctly.
We do wish you success in your new home.
Be well,
Team H2h
Fantastic experience: Very Professional and they are handling Covid with the proper safety protocols.
Hi Justin
We hope this response finds you and your family safe and healthy. We appreciate the shout out about how we're handling our safety protocols at our Boylston location. Your safety and the safety of all our members and staff is a top priority and we're glad you feel safe working out in our club. If you should need anything else, please let us know. Be well, Team H2h [email protected]
Negative experience: This is your budget gym. It’s cheaper and more run down. You get what you pay for. Still, the rowing machines don’t seem to be regularly serviced from the dust collection. A number of pieces of equipment are broken. Lastly, most of the audio is commercials about how great it is to work for the parent company. For what you pay, it is not worth it.
Negative experience: I thought about giving this location 3 stars, as I'm still a member and get value from it, but decided on 2, because I'm actively looking at alternatives, and plan to cancel my membership when I find one that suits me. BSC corporate is predatory in the way they handle their customers, and the contracts you sign with them. You can read the other reviews to see people's experiences with contracts here, but basically, read every word of your contract, don't lose it, and put important dates from the contract on your calendar right away. Moving on to this specific location: The good: - There's a turf area that anyone can use with TRX straps, platform boxes for box jumps, and a couple weighted sleds - There are kettlebells and medicine balls available for general use - There's a pool - There's a dry sauna - All the standard weight and cardio equipment you'd expect from a standard gym is available. - The personal trainer I'm working with is the best I've ever worked with. Can't speak for the other trainers, but from what I overhear, they seem competent. The bad: - They need way more squat racks and benches in the dumbbell area. Peak hours are terrible - I wanted to downgrade my passport membership to a standard one location membership, but was told that this location now only sells the more expensive passport memberships. - They don't sell personal training sessions. They sell personal training "memberships". You're committed to a certain number a month, and if you don't use them, they don't roll over. The most you can do is "pause" your membership. You also are unable to change the charge date of this "membership" once it starts. The ugly: - The men's locker room isn't very clean, and the showers can be particularly bad. On a few occasions, I've seen the same band-aids on the shower floor for a few days straight; it's really gross. - The sauna has a strict no smart phone policy, so you don't have to be paranoid of some creep taking pics of you, but the policy is NOT enforced. - The manager, Andrew doesn't want to hear about customer issues, and won't do anything to resolve them. - This place has long struggled with theft. A year or so ago they had a sign posted suggesting people get better locks, because thieves were picking simple locks. A couple months ago, someone had a very expensive jacket stolen from the locker room. I don't blame this location for that, because that customer decided to take the risk of hanging a very expensive jacket in the locker room, with no cameras. What I take issue with however, is the manager's reaction. He decided he was fed up with hearing about customers complaints about theft, and decided to just ban everyone from hanging up their jackets, period. He posted a sign, saying jackets must be crammed in their relatively small lockers with the rest of your belongings. When I asked him if he could change that policy back, and let us decide to take that risk, because I don't want to cram my jacket into those tight lockers, he just said "no, I'd rather have this conversation than have to deal with that". (He repeated this sentence 4 or 5 times during this conversation) I asked him if he could implement a coat check, or even add a coat rack to an area with cameras (both very simple solutions they're capable of), but he refused. He doesn't want to spend the effort. While I had him, I mentioned some of the other problems I just wrote about. (People bringing smartphones into the sauna, dirty/broken showers, etc). He got increasingly agitated, and told me what their "policy" was, and ignored the fact that it wasn't being enforced. At the end of the conversation, in a huff, he told one of his employees to remove the remaining coat hangers from the mens locker room. Was he trying to spite me? NOT ONCE in this entire conversation did he so much as apologize for the inconvenience. It was utterly bizarre. Looking at the other reviews posted here, it looks like I'm not the only one that's had an experience like this with him.
Negative experience: Be careful about them charging you "by mistake" after your membership has ended and then refusing to refund you
Negative experience: Once again we are back to BSC not being able/willing to open on time. A group of 15-20 members waiting on Friday morning to open. They need to realize that if members are waking up this early to work out time is of the essence. I waited for 20 minutes and returned home and went to work early. My time is far too valuable. If the gym was not super convenient I would drop them like a bad habit. Equipment is consistently broken, personal trainers take up way too much floor space (They have 2 or 3 rooms/space dedicated to personal training but they insist on conducting training on the public work out floor). They allow the gym to be used by anyone when the temp gets above 90 degrees. Why should it be more crowded when I pay almost $100 at this point when anyone can come in for free? The one star is because they finally painted the place.
We never want our members to have less than a stellar experience at any of our locations. Your review was sent to the GM of the club as well as the Business Director. If you can email us at the address below with a way of getting in touch with you, we'll be more than happy to speak to you personally.
Best, [email protected]
Negative experience: Rude manager , i was charged three times in one month , manager was not help full at all.
Negative experience: Guess what? When you cancel membership you get charged 45 days after date of cancellation. So make sure you decide 1 1/2 months in advance to stop membership, because you’re getting charged either way. Oh, and you are charged $10 just for the luxury of cancellation!
Hi Victoria
Thanks for the review. If you need a copy of your contract which states our cancelation polices, please go to bostonsportsclubs.com and create an account. You'll find a copy there.

Negative experience: Worst gym with unreasonable cancellation policy
Positive experience: Solid gym, bigger than it appears and has a pool. Gets incredibly packed in the morning and evenings, completely empty on weekends. 3 squat racks, 3 flat bench. 5 free weight benches with two sets of every weight going up to 150lbs. Things get repaired pretty quickly when they break. Clean locker rooms w/ towels and soap.
Negative experience: I have been a member at this gym for a long time and I'm searching for a new gym. It is beyond dusty. I'm tired of paying $80 a month only to leave with dirty clothes.
Positive experience: Fine gym. But the front desk girl might be homophobic since she looked at me with a weird look when I checked in without a gym bag the other day to use the sauna only. Hope it’s me over thinking. I did see one popper bottle in the sauna in the prudential branch once. They should clean the place more often. Lol
Positive experience: Great location! The staff is super helpful! Decent amount of treadmills which is awesome! Can get a little busy if you're there during peak hours. Love the location of the towels! (my biggest issue with other BSC gyms). Great amount of showers and honestly better showers than other BSC gyms. Just finished personal training with Beth, I've been recommending her to everyone! If plans change, I will come back to her. Beth is AMAZING at what she does. With all the fitness trends this year, it's hard to find a trainer that actually knows there stuff. Beth is well educated and will not only tell you what to do and how to do it, but why you're doing it. Before her, I didn't care about anything besides getting in the gym and getting out and now I don't step near anything if I haven't warmed up first or activated the proper muscles. It's difficult to find personal trainers that fit your needs and it's even more difficult to find a female trainer who lifts!! To be honest, I've interviewed about three other personal trainers before Beth and there's a reason why I stayed with her: her knowledge! She taught me the importance of building muscle, why it's important to rest (I hate rest days), and to cut my ego short and work on form. I was squatting 90 lbs when we first started for 5 reps, I maxed out 285 x 1. I've also lost about 10-15 lbs and my body fat percentage went down by 3 which is really what I care about. If you need a personal trainer, I recommend Beth 5 times!
Fantastic experience: Great gym, lots of equipments and fantastic staff. Trainers are excellent, I would highly recommend Chris.
Positive experience: I recommend this BSC. The staff is always nice and professional. The place is quite clean and not overcrowded, even in the mornings. The big plus is the pool, a gem in the middle of the city. This is the best value membership you can get downtown. And it gives you access to fitness classes, a nice sauna, fresh towels, etc. It is worth a try!
Negative experience: If I could give zero stars I would. The gym sells you on corporate rates and non contract month to month promotions. However they're selling you a lie, they will accidentally charge you during your promotion and instead of a refund you'll get a credit. Also the gyms themselves are not uniform, but the rates are uniform. The South Station location is legit a dump, locker doors falling off, broken weights, broken unclean equipment. Meanwhile inside the Pru, it is a well run beautiful gym... Hmmm I wonder why. Also spoke with the customer service manager and was basically given attitude for wanting to cancel my membership. I was charged in total 4 times for a free two month promotion for a corporate discounted rate account. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY! They will not treat you with respect. recap, go literally anywhere else. They are not worth it.

Fantastic experience: If you wanna take a personal trainer. Beth is the best trainer
Negative experience: Let me start off by saying I never really write reviews. I’m only writing this because the manager there Andrew needs to think a little more about morality and less on policy. I walk in asking to try out the gym, and one of the staff signs me in and let’s me go. I get approached by him as I’m changing in the locker room to come to the front to pay a day pass? Okay that’s fine $25 no big deal right? But wait, mid workout I find a “free trial” coupon online. I ask The manager Andrew if he can help me out and he says, “if you had presented it when you came in you could’ve worked out for free.” Again, I’m only saying this for Andrews sake... I don’t really care anymore the $25 is gone and I’m not getting it back... but if I was you I would’ve refunded the $25 and not have said, “well we are a for profit company,” c’mon Andrew that’s a pretty lame response.
Fantastic experience: The gym equipment is usually in good condition. Besides weight, they have a spin room, a general purpose group exercise room, a yoga room, a stretching area and a decent amount of cardio equipment.
Negative experience: A crowded, over-priced, exploitative gym. There are many machines here, but it is so crowded, especially in the mornings, that you can rarely find the equipment you need. If you're looking for a good gym experience, then it's hard to recommend Boston Sports Clubs: between the crowded gym and the awful pricing schemes, it's difficult to feel welcome here. There are plenty of other options so make sure to do a trial before signing up for a commitment!
Fantastic experience: Quality gym with all the equipment you could need. I had an issue with billing and Jean took care of it for me in a very professional manner. Yes it gets crowded after work but the gym is a steal considering everything you get .
Hey Christian
Thanks so much for showing our Boylston location the LOVE.

Negative experience: Long story short: find something else to do, this gym/group of gyms is not worth it. Equipment is poorly maintained, constantly broken, and dirty. Finding free weights is always a pain because they never seem to reorganize the weight room. The TVs by the cardio equipment never seem to work. The cardio equipment is so crowded together that you’re often fighting for elbow space. The locations are dank, crowded, and often smelly. The change rooms are in need of a serious refurb, they feel dirty even after having been cleaned. Hidden fees - an ‘annual fee’ that no one mentions when you sign up, a 45 day cancel notice that required you continue paying for 1.5 months. Overall, a bad experience from beginning to end.

Fantastic experience: Great people, surprisingly spacious, ample equipment, clean, reasonably priced. Longer hours would be helpful, especially weekends :-)
Positive experience: Staff was very friendly. Equipment is generally clean and available when I get in around noon. Have had no issues. I just do free-weights, so can't comment on the other section of the gym. They make the best use of space that they can. The gym is relatively cheap and in the heart of Boston. The only other better gyms I have seen in the city have been 'premium' tier gyms like the Equinox.

Negative experience: BSC, we cancelled months ago in person, and now you are sending on a debt collection agency to us. How do we sort this? Such a horrible end to what was a long membership. Please stop with the threats and third-party debt collection. Please sort this out.
Fantastic experience: Great downtown gym. Clean and very friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: Good pool that is not too busy

Negative experience: Do not go here, it's literally the worst club out of all. I had such a bad experience with a trainer, Alex Carmeli. She was an awful trainer, in fact I gained weight whilst training with her. And when I told her I couldn't afford it, she became extremely rude. I still had 8 sessions left with her before finishing my contract, and she did her best to dodge all of them. She was rude. When I cancelled on her I had to pay, but when she cancelled on me, she thought that was fine!!! Once I arrived late to the session, and that time she didn't even train with me, she was just flirting with this guy and then she told me that I was too late to even train. Hello?! I'm the one paying you!! $600 a month!! Biggest waste of money ever. I hope she gets fired, she doesn't qualify to be a personal trainer.
Fantastic experience: Great classes!
