Our comment from FitFit United States about Troy Gym 1 & 2 (Rec/PS Gymnastics):
Troy Gym 1 & 2 (Rec/PS Gymnastics) in Troy, United States, offers a vibrant environment for children to engage in gymnastics, ninja classes, and open gym activities. Many users have praised the wide variety of equipment and the friendly, accommodating staff, contributing to a fun experience for kids. Here are some highlights:
- Positive Experiences: Visitors often commend the gym for being clean and well-maintained, with exceptional facilities that include a new zip line, spacious open gym areas, and dedicated staff members who engage well with children.
- Fun Activities: The gym provides numerous activities such as classes, open gyms, and unique birthday party packages. Parents appreciate the structured programs that keep kids active and entertained.
- Friendly Staff: Many reviews highlight the kindness and professionalism of the staff, with specific mentions of individual coaches who are both engaging and supportive.
However, there are some areas where feedback suggests room for improvement:
- Communication Issues: Some parents reported dissatisfaction with the front desk staff and a lack of clear communication regarding policies, particularly concerning refunds and event bookings.
- Safety Concerns: There have been instances of safety issues, particularly with supervision during busy open gym times which some customers found chaotic.
- Mixed Experiences: While many had positive interactions, there are mentions of unprofessional behaviors from staff members that impacted certain visits negatively.
Overall, while Troy Gym showcases many strengths in its offerings and atmosphere, attention to customer service and communication could enhance the experience even further. Visitors often leave feeling that their children had a great time, making it a popular choice for families in the area.

Troy Gym 1 & 2 (Rec/PS Gymnastics): Opinions

Negative experience: I had an extremely disappointing experience with Troy Gym. When I initially signed up, I was assured that if we chose not to attend, we would receive a refund. However, after deciding not to move forward with their services and canceling, I was suddenly told that refunds are not given. This is completely unacceptable and misleading. Not only was the lack of transparency frustrating, but their unwillingness to honor their original statement shows a lack of integrity. Parents rely on honesty and trust when choosing childcare, and unfortunately, this place has proven to be unreliable. I would not recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy and professional service.
Hello KC, Troy Gym has had a “no refunds” policy since day 1, 19 years ago. It is listed on all of our policies and in the waiver required to sign up. You are welcome to email [email protected] and we can look into your account.
Fantastic experience: We went to the open gym for the very first time this winter. I have two littles, one and three year old. My older had the time of his life. Everything to climb jump slide crawl. He loved the little tunnels and the huge slide and the foam pit. The chaos was probably a little too overstimulating for my younger but he still had a good time. You have to be present and embrace the chaos. I was by myself and I could trust that my older would not do dangerous things while I followed my younger, but that may not be the case if you have kids who don’t have a healthy sense of self-preservation. I do wish there was more weekend open gym time specifically for littles.
Negative experience: I have a few inquiries about my daughter’s birthday party last Saturday. The party was from 1 to 3 p.m. I paid for 30 minutes of bounce house rental, which was inflated around 1:55 p.m. However, the kids didn’t have enough time to use it because they were moved to the party room at 2:15 p.m. The bounce house was fully inflated by 2:05 p.m. If I hadn’t ansked about the time the kids were scheduled to move to the next activity, they would likely spend the entire time in the ninja zone. However, the most important thing is that the only staff member who seemed genuinely interested in the kids from 1 to 2:05 p.m. was the ninja coach.
Hi Maria-
We will forward your concern to the TG4 events team to review and address. We are sorry to hear of your concerns and can assure the TG4 events team will work to ensure a resolve.
Fantastic experience: Awesome open gym and classes
Negative experience: I've brought my daughter here for a few years for open gym, which has always been something we/she enjoyed. Decided tonight to bring her to a kid's late night event (still here actually) and it's a complete shit show. So unorganized, chaotic, and I was surprised once I realized I'm the only parent here out of roughly 50 kids, maybe more. It was $30 w/Zipline access and I had to pull her out of the group she was in because they had absolutely no idea what their schedule was and started to seem like they weren't even headed to the Zipline. Probably the only thing my kid was really looking forward to. There's what seems like young teenagers watching each group of maybe 20 kids, and they are struggling to keep control of much of anything. I'll be happy to bring my kid back for open gym but I suggest avoiding anything other than that or a specialized class for specific purposes. Although after seeing how this has gone I'm not even sure I'd want her involved in that. Absolutely wouldn't leave my kid here alone on a night like this. Maybe the next event could actually have some structure or people in charge that aren't 14?
Hi Brad- we restructured this week, so it is a learning curve for everyone. The ZRC rotations are scheduled for after snack time at 8/8:30. We used to have groups for 40-50 kids and it was very overwhelming for our staff. We now have groups with 15:1 ratio. We apologize if our staff and returning customers adjusting to a new format seemed unorganized we are trying to work out kinks to ensure the event is enjoyable for everyone. We will pass along your feedback.
Positive experience: I appreciate the open gym open area as a fun place to meet up, but the chaos and risk is extraordinary in my opinion. You sign a waiver, and then there's a scissor lift sitting right next to the play thing. The play thing is wooden and not at all professional; I think the owner and like his cousins must have put it together. No padding, just exposed 2 x 4s and makeshift ladders and ropes falling apart. Nothing like even the quality of personal playground equipment. Plus a gigantic foam pit 10 year olds can jump into from 2 stories high while 3 year olds are struggling to get out of it, and 10 year olds throwing footballs while 3 year olds are waiting for a trampoline. As a parent, you have to be ready to confront 10 year olds who are not your child. Probably over 100 kids with one supervisor. Mats and bars have 1993 dates on them when it's 2025. I'm just thrilled to come out of here with my 3 year old relatively intact, only one football to the head.
Hi Sam,
We appreciate your support and hear your concerns. Safety is key at TG.
We forwarded your concerns regarding the pirate ship to our maintenance management team. They will be making this a priority to look at these areas.
During all ages open gyms, it is common to find kiddos of various ages playing the way their age group does. We find most older kiddos are very kind and considerate to the littles running around, they’re just bigger! If being around a lot of older kiddos is a concern, we do offer pre-k open gym for 5 years & under 3 times a week! We also ask that parents keep an eye on their own children, and it is required that children 5 years & younger have a parent with them at all times.
We appreciate when customers give us feedback while at the facility as well, so we can address them immediately. If there is ever a concern when you are at TG, please let the front desk know and we will be sure to review and address.
Fantastic experience: Such a wonderful experience! The staff was so nice to my family. Will definitely be coming back with again very soon.
Negative experience: Toby the owner has very poor business practices, he just cares about taking your money. He provides a subpar facility that needs updating and cleaning. They have mats ripped with foam spilling out, mats that are supposed to protect your child when jumping off a trampoline. I would never recommend this facility!
Hi Megan,
We are sorry that you felt the need to post this review. We know how much your child enjoys their time at our facility and you yourself have even made comments about how great it is to our staff. This review was left for reasons other than what the review states. We put a lot of money back into our facility and as soon as we hear of or see an issue with a mat or piece of equipment, we act quickly to ensure it is remedied. We also are always cleaning all areas of the facility to ensure it is welcoming to all of our customers. We take safety very seriously at our facility. We are sorry that you were not pleased with the owner not accommodating your request to refund your monthly fee. We have policies and we have to stick to them to be consistent for all customers. These policies are emailed out mid-month every month and our records do show you received and opened the email. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.
Fantastic experience: This review is for their open gym/ropes, available to those over 48”. My kids, ages 7 and 10, had a blast. We visited over the 2024 Christmas Break. It’s $15 for open gym, and another $10 for ropes. They charge $5 for registration for those who don’t live in the area. Ropes only go for 30 minutes at a time. Additional sessions are another $10. I still think it’s a fair price given the structure, staff, etc. Everyone I interacted with was super nice, from the initial phone call, to the front desk, to the girls managing the ropes. Our total for the day, including registration, all-day open play, and two sessions of ropes, was $80. They were good and tired when we left. :)
Thank you for the kind review-We are so glad they had a wonderful time! We look forward to welcoming you back the next time you’re in town.
Negative experience: This gym is very unorganized based on the few times we have enrolled in classes here. I feel there was very little growth in my child the year we went here. She grew more doing front yard gymnastics. The coaches are kind but typically the front desk can be frustrating. We have had coaches that seem quite young and seem to have limited experience with kids. If you're looking for a personable gym this is not it.
Hi Jess,
Could you please email us your concerns so we can work on improvement in both the front desk as well as your child’s class? Are classes unorganized? The process of enrollment/disenrollment? Our make up policy?
[email protected]
We would appreciate the opportunity to correct any issues you have encountered.
Negative experience: rude people
Hi- if you could please email us your experience so we could help rectify. We cannot find your customer profile based on your google user name but would appreciate the opportunity to review your experience. [email protected]
Positive experience: Went there for my granddaughters birthday party
Negative experience: My daughter was enrolled in the toddler class for a month or so. Last week she ran out of the gym crying by herself. No staff member communicated with me what had happened. I finally figured it out and went to speak with her coach. Apparently, she wasn’t listening well, meaning she was punished by not receiving a hand stamp. Very trivial to an adult but not to a 3 year old. She is a toddler so I understand that her listening skills are not great. I am disappointed that nothing was communicated to me at that class or prior classes. That is an issue that could have resolved easily. I reached out to speak with the director and was told I’d receive a call which I never did. The class itself was a disappointment due to the fact there were never any updates on what skills she was learning. It did not seem to have any structure. Overall, a disappointment due to the fact we not only took her to class but open gym as well. I will no longer spend my money at a facility who clearly does not care about the children.
Negative experience: Quite possibly the worst place in Oakland county. Don’t do business here.they would rather lose repeated business than do what is ethically right. We sent multiple emails to their addresses asking to drop out daughters (esp after a coach belittled her and was horrible to her) and because the email didn’t go to their specific drop folder they wouldn’t honor our request. Even with email confirmation that we asked to drop. Even after speaking with employees. This company has no integrity, empath, compassion or good customer service.
Hi Hannah- it looks as though you sent your drop email to our old drop address that is no longer a valid domain and hasn’t been since February 2020. We send reminder emails mid-month every month that includes the statement that any email sent to an incorrect email address will not be honored. We provide the drop deadline and a link to send an email to the proper email address in this monthly reminder as well.
This information is provided in all of our offices and on our website: Troy Gym requires written notification to drop a class. Send an email to [email protected]
7 days before the first of the month to ensure your credit card will not be charged the month’s tuition. The email must contain the parent’s name, student’s name, and the class you
will be dropping. Please note the domain for our emails changed in 2020. We will not accept requests sent to our old domain of @troygymnastics.com.
We are sorry if our policies do not work for your family. We communicate to our customers to ensure they have adequate notice to drop if they wish to not be billed. We’re also sorry if you find this practice unethical. We try our best to help families but do need to have the courtesy of customers to abide by our policies and procedures in place. We wish you the best with your child’s future endeavors in physical fitness.
Fantastic experience: Great time, a big variety of equipment.
Negative experience: they don't tell the parents when you sign up that you can't use the equipment except when they see you on it they run over to shout at you for trying to show my kid how to utilize it... maybe get the one person that you somewhat have on the floor to stop staring and snacking on popcorn and actually move around on the floor where the kids actually are and show the 3 & 5 year old how to do things. The "director" is insanely rude and said i was hanging on to the bars when my body was not, i dropped my hands on there to show my child!!! Literally insane.
Hi Olga,
We are sorry if you do not agree with our policies. Our age cap is posted on our website and in our offices. Our open gym staff's job is to oversee the gym, not to run activities for children. When a customer is constantly reminded of this policy, they do get a firm asking to abide by our policy for everyone's safety or they are asked to leave. Safety is our number one priority and we need our customers to respect our policies and to respect our staff.
Fantastic experience: We have been at Troy gym for over 5 years and I absolutely love it for my boys. The strength they have gained in their classes is incredible. We love the staff and owners.
Thank you Kristina! We have appreciated your continued support!
Fantastic experience: Great place for kids….amazing coaches too. Chantel is awesome
Thank you Matthew! We love Coach Chantel!
Fantastic experience: We recently had a birthday party in TG-2 with my three kiddos (ages 4, 2, 2) and the staff was absolutely fantastic! Not only did they help set up and tear down decorations, but they were so attentive to the time and gave me reminders throughout the party to keep us on track. The helpers (Hannah, Mateo, Brianna & Austin) took initiative, were kind to the guests and played with the kids in the gym, and even offered to take gifts and decor back out to our car! Top to bottom, it was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend. We are already hoping to have our party there again next year. Thank you, Troy Gym!
Thank you for the amazing review Caitlin! We love being able to help families celebrate their little's birthdays!
Fantastic experience: TG is the place to be! Both of my girls love the activities from daycare to camps; swimming and the gymnastics classes. Not to mention the zipline, MRC, and open gym/play options!
Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Great place for kids to learn and excel at gymnastics. The facilities are state of the art and the coaches are well liked by my daughter.
Thank you!
Negative experience: We decided to try Troy Gym for the winter break. What a mistake. My kids got sick and we were not able to make the whole week. I did call but one day I called 45 minutes after the program started (which apparently is 15 minutes late in the policy) and they told me I could not get a credit. We will not be going there again if this is how they treat new customers. Also, it seems they would prefer me send a sick child to expose others. There is no empathy or compassion at all. The email I received was a copy and paste of their policy. I would NOT recommend sending your child there. By all the awful recent reviews, it looks like this place does not care about customer service at all!
Hi Sherry,
We apologize for your experience. We staff based on children enrolled in our camps. We do not wish for sick children to come, but we do need to have notice of cancellations. Below is the copy of the email you were sent, stating that all customers had been emailed our policies prior to our camp program starting so they are aware of the cancellation policy. This information is also located on our website for customers to be educated on our policies prior to enrollment.
Hi Sherry-
Unfortunately, that is our policy. Our system shows that you received the email sent out on December 19th with the following notice:
Registering for Camps When wanting to register for more camps, please visit our office, website or give us a call! Our Camp Staff do not have access to our enrollment software. We cannot guarantee availability for walk-ins so be sure to register the day before.
Registration Clarification: There are many families registering their child in the AM and PM options for the same day. This does include a half-hour break where your child is not included in our rotations or headcounts. An adult does need to come and pick up your child between Noon-12:30PM. This is for your child's safety. If no one picks up your child, they will miss out on the lunch period given. We cannot keep campers here between this half hour as it is our shift change and we will only have staffing for the full-day campers for lunch.
Important Notice- All payments toward camps are non-refundable per our refund policy. Campers who are not well are able to cancel their camp day up to 30 minutes into the day of camp on which they are registered to receive credit for a future visit. No call, no show campers will not be issued a credit for absences. Campers’ annual $25 membership fee will need to be current for participation. Additionally, families will sign off on Troy Gym’s new online waiver. This will be prompted at the time of registration.
We are sorry we cannot be of further assistance.
Negative experience: Nice gym, the kids had fun with the little time they did have. 2 hour party 45 min party room /75mins of play time isn’t enough for the kids. We should be able to structure our own two hours. I would rather have more play time and a few minutes for cake & ice cream. I tried asking can we have less party room time they said no, I asked can you buy additional time they said no. Even after cake and ice cream kids wanted to play & experience more of the gym but couldn’t which suck they were sad so I had to take them skating after. I wish the kids were able to move freely around the gym as well. I understand for safety reasons they can’t just move along the gym especially smaller kids but if a staff member or two was at each location it would help. I paid extra for a bounce house that the kids couldn’t really enjoy, they were in the bounce house area for about 15 mins maybe so if they needed a bathroom break, come back & it was over time to move along. Bounce house should be up and running the whole time for the kids to play in. Seems like they just book a bunch of parties literally two hours a part, they don’t really care if the kids have fun it’s about the money. Staff was okay, not the best. I definitely wouldn’t recommend, find another location with more play time for the kids to actually enjoy themselves, this is a waste of money if you ask me.
Hi Atira,
Thank you for your feedback. We are extremely transparent on all of our services/policies/procedures. The birthday party package you had booked, stated all that your review mentions, so booking families are aware of what to expect on their party day. TG1 parties are fully structured so we can maximize the number of children celebrating their birthdays with us. We know how FUN TG parties are and want for every child to experience the fun. If structure does not fit what you're looking for, we do offer unstructured party packages in our facility TG4 that are ran with our Open Play if that is the preferred style of play.
The bounce house timing was shortened due to the addition of the zipline roller coaster. We can only fit so much into the 1 hour, 15 minutes of play time and want for party goers to be able to fully experience every area of the facility. This reason, in addition to safety, is why parties are ran the way that they are in TG1.
There was a party right after your party. By extending your gym time, your party would have been running into the other party's gym time. While the gym is technically shared, we do not have party goers overlapping each other. Each follow a rotation to ensure just their guests are the only ones in that area.
We also do not allow children to eat then play, as it can cause some children to get sick and make a huge ol' mess in the gym.
Again, all of your concerns were communicated prior to booking on our website, during booking in our terms and conditions (then emailed with your receipt), and the confirmation you were sent and that you signed off on. We do try our best to inform families of what to expect of our facility and our services, as we know that it can be expensive. We want to make it the best experience for every single party that we host (which is about 30 a weekend!).
If you have further concerns, you are welcome to email [email protected].
We hope your child had a wonderful celebration and enjoyed their time at our facility.
Fantastic experience: We have been taking our toddler here for gymnastics classes the last few months. We have overall enjoyed our experience and classes.
We love that you are loving your gymnastics classes! Thank you for the review :)
Negative experience: I would not recommend this facility to anyone. During our event someone stole $50 dollars from a guest from her purse that was left in the party room under the coat. The front desk employee was less than helpful. There was a camera in the room but I was told that doesn’t record, how convenient.
Hi Martin,
We apologize for your experience. Troy Gym is not responsible for lost or stolen items. We do our best to communicate this to our guests to not leave valuables unattended. With frequent foot traffic to three party rooms, as well as the restrooms all down the same hallway- not to mention the party rooms not being attended to during play time, there would be no way for us to know if/when/how that this may/may not have happened.
We do not record on any of our cameras. The cameras in the party rooms are for management to do random check ins on parties/staff during evaluation periods/if we do not have management present.
We again apologize for your experience and want to ensure that Troy Gym management and ownership does not condone any form of dishonesty-including theft.
Positive experience: Coaches are good, only issue is that the coaches procedures and things going on in the class are very unorganized.
Hi there,
We are sorry to hear your review. Our coaches follow a bi-weekly lesson plan provided by management with the first week of the lesson giving children the opportunity to learn and the second week master. We work hard to keep our students engaged, while having fun during their class time. If you have a specific experience that we could forward to management, please email [email protected] so we can ensure lesson plans are being followed and that students are getting the most out of their class time!
Negative experience: My kids and I were at TG1 this week. While we were there my kids expressed to me that an employee was targeting them specifically. Also I’m not sure this was why, but my children are between the age of 11-13. I’m not trying to call anyone out but she was not being polite or friendly like she should be while working with children. I assume she saw the age of my children and immediately thought that they would cause trouble or set a bad example for the little ones. Even though this environment is more big kid friendly. I am kind of disappointed because my kids and I love going here on weekends or days off.
Hi Zeta,
We apologize for your experience and certainly do not want you or your children to feel that they are not welcome to our All Ages Open Gym-they are all ages after all! We do like to remind older kiddos to be cautious of little ones, but never wish for a customer to feel unwelcomed. If you could please email us at [email protected], we would love to work with you on a resolve. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Amazing New Zip Line! For his birthday, my 12 year old son and I recently went on the brand new zip line at Troy Gym (building 1) and all I can say is WOW! I don’t know who loved it more, my son or me. :) We zoomed through the air moving between the 5 different zip lines 15 feet off the ground and had a crazy good time! Troy Gym has long been a favorite of our family because of their wide variety of play options and friendly staff but this new “zip line roller coaster” takes things to a whole new level. You feel like you’re flying and it’s awesome that you can ride repeatedly on the different tracks (it’s not just one ride like so many zip lines). You can race a friend on parallel tracks, most of the tracks curve, and there’s even one spot you can kick off the wall like an action movie! My son, his friends, and a few of us dads cruised around the zip lines for about 30 minutes laughing and racing - next time we’ll go for an hour. Toby, the TG owner who is very engaging and clearly passionate about helping families have a great experience at TG, shared some of the cool tech stuff with us about this new zip line: -This style zip line is what you see on cruise ships and apparently TG’s course is one of the first of its kind inside a building on land. -The red light/green light system on each zip line has safety locks that prevent a 2nd person from launching until the first rider has arrived at and moved on from the landing spot. This prevents people from accidentally slamming into each other - important! -The roller system that goes across the top of each line makes for an incredibly smooth ride (smoothest I’ve experienced on a zip line). -You can easily pass people and change directions on the elevated walkway between zip lines because you’re always tethered into the safety tracks. Easy to switch who’s racing who, which zip line you want to go next, etc. This may seem minor but the harnesses were really comfortable and that makes a big difference when you ride multiple times. No discomfort for me on 20+ rides in 30 minutes. I’d have no problem wearing that harness and zipping around for an hour. The pricing is very reasonable as well and I like that you get unlimited rides during a time period rather than paying per ride. Bottom Line: this is an awesome zip line and I’m going back with my family as soon as I can next time we're in Troy! Highly recommend!
We love the Zipline! Glad you had a fantastic experience at the ZRC!
Fantastic experience: Fun gym for all
Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Birthday Party - hosted my daughters 5th birthday party and what a great experience. Our party got our own gym space with TONS of things for the kids to do, the staff was incredible not only watching the kids, but helped with set up, clean up, carrying items too and from the car and even passed out cupcakes. Provided great space for guests, private bathroom and even table covers in color of your choice. Soooo worth the price and kids are still talking about it 4 days later. Thank you for everything =)
Thank you so much for the great review, Sara! We are glad you had a fantastic party experience at our facility. We look forward to partying with you again soon!
Fantastic experience: We enjoy it as a fun winter activity for our 3 year old.
Thank you!
Fantastic experience: I love it!!!! It's my dream!!!
Thank you!
Fantastic experience: My daughter started classes here when she was 3 years old and is now on Team. This gym is the most beautiful gym I have ever walked into and I have been to a lot of gyms. My daughter is now 11 years old and is currently on the higher levels of team and she is doing amazing! She even made the 2015 America's Top 100 Gymnasts for her uneven bar score! They have every program available for every child's skill level or needs. There is even a preschool and daycare inside the Team gym. All of the coaching staff work well together. I can't say anything bad about Troy Gymnastics. We love TG!
Fantastic experience: Every team, whether it is JV, Varsity, Boys or Trampoline and Tumbling, has the most respectful and humble children as well as super talented. I LOVE TROY GYMNASTICS!
Fantastic experience: One of the best Gymnastics places around!
Fantastic experience: This place is fun and clean. The workers are friendly and prices are reasonable. The classes are great as well as the open gym.
Fantastic experience: I can only rate for open gym...it was awesome! They have an excellent facility that's clean, wide open, and very toddler/kid friendly. My son loved it! The building where they have open gym is big but not too big where you're constantly trying to run after your kid to see where they went. The staff was young, friendly, and energetic and appeared to genuinely like the kids! Great place and I'd definitely recommend to anyone with little ones at home that need to burn off energy!
Fantastic experience: open gym was so much fun! I got my front aerial and I'm now working on my backhandsprang thanks to coach Will!
Fantastic experience: Great birthday destination. Can't believe how much this place has grown over the years. They have a ton of offerings.
Fantastic experience: Weds dad/son play date at TG#4 is the best part of the week. If you haven’t experienced the tower your straight missing out. Shout out to coach Ben. Great work Troy gymnastics
Positive experience: Very good place for young ones to be physically active
We agree!
Negative experience: Our summer camp came here on a field trip this summer. The management refused to let our staff participate despite offering to pay as any other customers and it being open gym. Additionally, other Troy Gym staff members were repeatedly reminded to not let them participate. Even the Troy Gym staff seemed confused by Management's behavior. Would not recommend for any municipal summer camps. Entire staff was under 23.
Hi Greg, we do have an insurance that only covers ages 23 & younger. Also, depending on the amount of children & staff that you brought to the facility, we may have needed more staff on our end to make sure everyone playing can be safe, which is why we couldn’t accommodate the add one at that time. Unfortunately, due to this, we can’t allow anyone over this age on the equipment. We sincerely apologize if there may have been a miscommunication of this on our end. We try to keep all involved as safe as possible at all times. We hope that you will reconsider trying another one of our facilities in the future. Our ropes course allow ages 8-99 to participate!
Positive experience: Serving children of all levels... Lots of equipment .... Small restrooms but clean... Working vending machine... Lots of parking.... The smell of corn chips is very strong and will meet you at the door...
Fantastic experience: I loved the fruit jungle, and being able to do frontflips.
Fantastic experience: I loved the fruit jungle, and being able to do frontflips.
Negative experience: I would not recommend this place for a birthday party. We came here for my nephew's birthday and we were told that the entire gym was rented. We showed up and there was a meet happening in the corner so we were not able to use that side of the gym or disturb the Meet. We were told the kids couldn't use the beams, rings or bars and they were not able to do the entire obstacle course or the zipline, so the kids could basically use the bounce house, foam pit and the open area. Definitely not worth the money. Other gymnastics places do a much better job
Hi Theresa, we are so sorry to hear that your experience was anything but satisfactory and we have been in touch with the person who booked the birthday party and they were not charged for the use of the high ropes course. The party you attended only booked use of the gym, not the ropes course. The website does not state anywhere that you receive exclusive use of the entire gym, there may have been a miscommunication during booking as well. :( In order to rent the entire facility of TG3, there is a larger fee than just the birthday party package, as multiple parties can be running at a time (like Chuck E. Cheese). We often have overlapping parties, events and etc. as we have 3 party room areas in that building. The building is 42,000 square feet so we easily stagger slightly overlapping events and kiddos still get to enjoy so much that we have to offer at TG3. Unfortunately, that was the first unexpectedly hot day of the year, and at peak sun, the gym was hot, as most gyms are. As for two staff, both were caught off guard by the ropes course portion unexpectedly being added as we normally staff 3-4 staff members for any party that does a combo party depending on the number of kiddos. In this circumstance we would have staffed 4 and only had 2 :(. Two staff for 2 sections of the gym to oversee safety and fun. Two staff for the ropes course harnessing, loading and watching the course for safety + help. The ropes course due to the nature of the harnessing and etc. requires a lot of additional staff and our ropes parties are a 2 staff to 15 climbers ratio for staff when ropes parties are booked alone. We really wanted to be sure everyone is safe AND having fun. The staff did not feel safe allowing the kids in the rest of the gym as they said that they did not feel that they could safely watch all of those areas of the gym with only one staff in the gym portion. We did advise them that in the future they could gather all gym kids and rotate to the other trampolines or other equipment. The meet was only on on small portion of the gym and was done by 3:30 and they absolutely should have tried to expand the kids to being able to use more portions. Presents are not typically done during the party time, and we recommend adding time onto the party room time if you would like to do presents. This is an optional add on as well and would cost an additional fee as it requires more time. We appreciate your feedback so much. You had a number of things go out of the norm for your party. We are incredibly sorry for the series of events that occurred and again, your party host was not charged for the use of the high ropes course.
We hope the kiddos still had a blast!
Fantastic experience: Positive: Communication , Professionalism , Quality , Value
Fantastic experience: We have been attending Troy gym for 6 months now. I have my daughter in gymnastics and my son in Ninja Warrior at the same time. They both love it. They never complain about going and have so much fun and burn so much energy. I have found everyone who works here to be very friendly and accommodating. We look forward to trying out the Saturday night drop off soon so we can get a night out!
We love that you and your children love it!
Fantastic experience: We LOVE Troy Gymnastics. Open gym, swimming, gymnastics classes, ninja classes, munchkin ropes course, school holiday camps... We do it all! Great place, always clean, family run. Would also add that it is by far the most frequently recommended place to go to in all of the local parent groups on social media, which says it all.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Fantastic experience: We LOVE Troy Gymnastics. They have been an amazing way to instill a practice of movement with our toddler, especially during crazy times of being stuck mostly at home. We have participated in both open gyms and a weekly toddler gymnastics class and have loved both options. We've had to miss several classes due to Covid exposures and so much enjoy the ability to make up the classes. I've also loved seeing the progressive nature week over week of the gymnastics class. Each week is different than the week before and grows on skills, which is great to see that it's not a cookie cutter class every week.
Fantastic experience: We love this place! We’ve been there for over a year now and participate in several of their classes. We also enjoy their open gyms and ninja ropes course. It truly has so much to offer and at a decent price. Their staff is great and you can tell they take pride in their facilities as well as making sure their families are taken care of. We Love you guys and are so glad we found you when we did so our kids could enjoy some normalcy during such crazy times.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Fantastic experience: We love TG! Ninja class is my son's favorite activity and coach Chris is fun and super patient.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We love Coach Chris as well!
Fantastic experience: We went to the munchkin rope course and my normally crazy, not scared of anything child had a complete melt down from the “heights”…it’s like 2 ft off the ground. The owner was so nice and let her go play in the gymnastics area! She loved it! It was so nice to have them care so much about her and her feelings and let her still have fun!
Thank you so much for your kind words! Come check us out again soon!
Fantastic experience: Great gym, lots of activities and the staff is caring
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Fantastic experience: We went for the mini ropes course and it was a blast! Equipment and environment was clean and safe, great opportunity for kids to socialize as well as practice balance, hand-eye coordination, confidence, and motor skills. Great value and owner and staff were very friendly and attentive. Support small businesses, especially now. Thank you, we will be back!
Thank you so much for your kind words! We can't wait to see you back soon!
Fantastic experience: Great facility and staff!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Fantastic experience: My kids enjoy this place, I don't know why people are hating on them for reasons the teachers have no control over. We have been going long enough to see how the kids behave and some of them do seem to have a difficult time based on their age, size, and natural ability. I think they are doing a fine job, my 3yr old daughter or my 8 yrs son have never complained or got hurt. The low ratings are baseless and all TG needs to do it is encourage members to leave a review online and it will bury all the "Karens' etc. So much fun for kids.
Thank you for your review. We appreciate hearing that your children have had such a positive experience at our gym!
Fantastic experience: Nice place if you want to occupy the kids on a rainy day
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Negative experience: Horrible, unprofessional place that allows it's staff to mistreat ethnic minorities. My kids were treated poorly by one of the coaches named William Waugh last week who used bias code words "You two monkeys" right before they started their warm ups. I was totally offended by what my son told me once they got finished with their class. I then brought the issue up with the owner who did nothing about it. He just offered me free sessions as compensation. I declined and withdrew my kids from this place. We will never be coming here again. The coach should have been fired and I am totally offended and appalled that a professional place would allow something like this to go unchecked. It just goes to show that they condone this type of behavior.
Negative experience: Worst management and owner and coaches of any gym around. I had no idea how truly awful it was until I took my child elsewhere. I am sure glad I left. So sorry to have wasted years of coaching at this gym.
Positive experience: There is a no-refund policy. So, you better make sure you really want your kids there before you pay any money because it is a a policy of no refunds no matter what. Only possibly a credit towards any other future course purchase. In my case, a coach different from the one who coached the class before, disenrolled my child from both classes I purchased because she said she noticed my child's birthday hasn't come yet. So, by their policy she's too young for a tumbling class. They offered the ninja class instead, which is not something I was interested in for my child. It is mostly the fact they have a "no refund" policy that makes me not want to enroll her in any other classes at Troy Gymnastics at this point. But to make matters worse, the coach was pretty rude in the way this whole incident came about. I complained but looks like it's not going to make any difference. I just have to chalk up the loss of the registration fee and the classes already purchased to a lesson learned. So buyer beware.
Fantastic experience: Friendly & fun place! One stop shop for all our kids classes and 20% off for each additional class! You'll love it, they have so much to offer.
Fantastic experience: My daughter loves going to gymnastics at TG!
Thank you for your review. We appreciate hearing that your child has had such a positive experience at our gym!
Fantastic experience: What an amazing facility and staff. So much fun for the kids. An awesome place for a birthday party !
Fantastic experience: One of the few gyms in the area that offers multiple different options for multiple different people! Trampoline & Tumbling, Indoor Ropes Course, Ninja, Gymnastics, Dance & More.
Fantastic experience: This is such a cool place for kids to play! It was super clean and everyone had masks on. My 3 year old was entertained the whole time. She loved the open gym. Highly recommend this place!
Thank you for your review. We appreciate hearing that your child had such a positive experience at our gym!
Fantastic experience: Troy Gymnastics excels in cleanliness, communication, and amazing coaches. Even during shut down from COVID-19 communication was ongoing from owners. I didn’t have to guess what they were planning. We’ve been coming here for years, and look forward to many more. Thank you Troy Gymnastics for creating a place for parents to feel safe to bring their kids to, and where kids can be healthy, active, and have fun.
Thank you for your review. We appreciate hearing that your children have had such a positive experience at our gym!
Fantastic experience: What an amazing facility and staff. So much fun for the kids. An awesome place for a birthday party !
Thank you for your review. We appreciate hearing that your children have had such a positive experience at our gym!
Negative experience: I drove from almost an hour away because my girlfriends wanted their kids to have fun at open gym. Months ago, we had a lot of fun doing this. Today, we got there at 11:20- open gym closes at noon. they tried charge me $25 “registration fee” PER KID, THEN ON TOP OF THAT, another $10 to play. In case you can’t do math, that’s $70 dollars for 40 minutes of play. When I asked them to make an exception this one time, they said they couldn’t. I asked 3 times to please make an exception because my kids were getting so upset. The women at the front desk blamed it on finances, the owner being out of town, and policy. While I’m a small business owner, and I understand policy, I also understand that a couple dollars in the door with a happy customer (that may return in the future) is better than zero dollars and an unhappy customer who will tell people about how awful the experience and customer service was. Even with my children basically kicking and screaming because they SO badly wanted to play at the gym with their friends, there was still no compassion. I’d also like to add that at no point during the registration process for the first free play was I ever told that if I came back there would be a $25 fee per kid on top of $10 for open play per kid. I did ask how much it would cost the next time I came, and was told $10 per kid (which I was absolutely prepared to pay today) Nice work Troy Gymnastics. It’s no wonder you don’t allow anyone to write reviews on Facebook, and your yelp and google ratings are so low.
Our apologies that we did not meet your expectations on your return visit. Our website does clearly state our registration policies as well our open gym hours. We hope since your children had such a great time on their first visit that you will reconsider another visit and because you are also a business owner that you can understand why an employee would not be allowed to bend a policy without the owner's approval.
Fantastic experience: My nieces and nephews love attending open gyms and other events at troy gymnastics, they always ask when they get to go back.
Fantastic experience: I have an excelled child at age 9. I have been through 3 previous gyms. This gym has everything. The training in this gym is very top notch. The coaches are amazing. Look no further this is the best gym in metro Detroit. I drive 40 minutes each way.
Fantastic experience: This place is sick they god euros and guys some coach broke his leg but he is a god + respect for him
Fantastic experience: Just had our daughters 4th birthday here and the staff and venue were wonderful. We’ve been to two other birthday parties here in the past 3 weeks and every part was great!
Fantastic experience: Always happy to go to open gym it’s a great place for kids of all skills to release energy
Fantastic experience: Awesome gym my daughter is on their bronze team over In TG3 very nice people work their
Negative experience: Two words. RIP. OFF. I'd like to give them ZERO stars. My daughter went to the Teens Night Out with a friend and they charged her $45! I called to question why she paid $45 & i was told it was $20 to jump & $25 for the REGISTRATION FEE! Registration for what? She didn't enroll in a class! Beware of the hidden costs if you're not a regular.
Negative experience: I’ve had my daughter enrolled in classes here for a few months. The front desk staff very regularly speak negatively about paying customers to each other out in the open right next to where you sit and watch your kid while class is in session. It makes me so uncomfortable and has happened with such regularity that I now sit upstairs where I can’t hear them. If you call to voice concerns about the facility, a class, a particular coach or experience you had while using the facility for a birthday party know that the staff will absolutely speak loudly, likely negatively about you, all together as a group along with the owner at the front desk where other people can hear every word. The facility itself is fine, a bit dated and could be cleaner but it’s reasonably priced and my daughter likes it.
Negative experience: I've never been more flabbergasted in my life. I brought my 20 month old up to Troy Gymnastics for preschool open gym (0-5 only), where she was able to get out of my reach and down a tunnel that ended both at the top of stairs and the mezzanine access, there were gates there but both were open and she darted out of sight nowhere near me. For several frantic minutes I was running back and forth trying to find my daughter with no help from staff, who chuckled at me in my panic. When I finally got ahold of her I brought my very real safety concern to the coach who gave me the unrealistic and impossible "you need to be within arm's reach of your child at all times" as a response. I asked how I was supposed to accomplish this when I am not allowed on the equipment? I was given no clear answer. I then brought my concerns to the front desk where the owner basically told me that he wasn't going to do anything about it and if I don't like it I should go somewhere else. He was very condescending and rude, as a result I will never take my kids there again, which really sucks, because they loved going there. I can't believe that I was treated this way, and after we have been going there weekly for a year and a half. This owner does NOT CARE about the kids safety or he would not have responded so poorly to my concerns.
Negative experience: O my God , absolute bad place to take kids very very bad People work there
Positive experience: A bit overrated- too many kids (10-11) in a group leads to little focus on individual kids...in one hour of session, effective utilization is only 20 mins
Fantastic experience: I love the experience I have had here! Wonderful gyms, and the coaches work hard to keep them safe and clean!
Fantastic experience: My 9 year old is on level 4 team and spends a lot of time at TG 3. She loves it and I couldn’t be happier with her coaches. I have seen my fair share of gyms around the area and Troy definitely offers the most.
Negative experience: Poor communication. Upon booking the woman didn’t even know how to help me and sent me to another building. Once I got there, I got no papers or information other than verbal. I put a deposit down and didn’t even get a receipt. They also want to charge you $10-15 PER CHAIR just for adults to be able to sit down... only kids get seated which was never communicated. Inflatable PlaySpaces has tons of bounce houses and is right down the road, more affordable and they don’t charge adults to sit. I recommend them instead.
Negative experience: My daughter has taken lessons here on and off for 3 years. Coaches are hit or miss (mostly misses) although a few have been amazing and engaging most are dismal. We unfortunately decided to have my daughters 5th birthday party here. Started off on a sour note right away when we arrived, walked into the room to setup and 2 of the "coaches" were already in the room. I asked if we had the right room and they said yes. I told them we were the hosts and they stared at us. Never once said hi or even Happy Birthday to my daughter. Easily high schoolers maybe early college. The one blonde girl never once interacted with kids, kept her arms crossed the entire 2 hours and couldn't wait to leave. The guy "coach" tried showing off to the other "coaches" the entire time playing on some of the equipment himself to show off. The one brunette girl did make sure the kids were safe and helped clear out the kids in the foam pit before allowing more to jump in. None of the 3 coaches were engaging, interactive or even social with kids! Called to follow up with Pat about the experience and her response was "yes we've gone over once again with our employees how they should be acting at such events" never an apology or empathy. I understand good help is hard to find but if you can't provide proper employees for an event then don't book events! We will never have another party here and I'm having my daughter take lessons elsewhere. The hassle with incompetent coaches isn't worth the expenses and time involved with this place.
Fantastic experience: I love the experience I have had here! Wonderful gyms, and the coaches work hard to keep them safe and clean!
Negative experience: Had my daughters birthday party at this place. Do not trust this place and make sure to document everything clearly. There are different people at the front desk and they do not record things what is being discussed on the phone. While I had spoken to some one on phone to confirm a specific number of kids for the party, they did not document it correctly inspite of me asking them to make sure I am not over charged. They did exactly the same thing by not documenting what was discussed over phone and I was charged additionally. Do not trust Troy Gymnastics. I will not recommend this place.
Fantastic experience: I took my 3 year old today for her first class. The facility has EVERYTHING, Olympic size and quality equipment. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Our instructor Maddy was AWESOME!! We'll be back next Saturday.
Fantastic experience: Front desk staff welcomes you with a warm welcome! Coaches are amazing! My daughter has learned and grown so much in the short time we’ve been there. Would recommend to anyone! Super fun and we’re both extremely happy!
Fantastic experience: I go there it's so fun I love it
Negative experience: This was a nice gym 10 years ago... but it's so old and outdated now.... I personally wouldn't sign my child up for classes there. When you start going weekly you notice more and more things wrong... Most of the staff members are high school kids, the parking lot sucks, the gym always looks dirty to me. They always have random equipment leaning up against the sides of the gym that is completely unsafe!!! I'm talking about metal bars etc... I think the classes for older kids are probably better, but the classes for younger kids have a lot of wasted time. Making 2 and 3 year olds wait to bounce and run isn't realistic. It's also very distracting for the younger kids. They have multiple classes going at once and multiple circuits to choose from. so of course younger kids want to do their own thing or go dance with the other class when the music is full blast. They should definitely have the younger kids in a completely seperate room. My main concern was that it looks dirty and old. The foam pit is so gross! Every foam square has bite marks and chunks taken out!!! Looks like they throw a couple new foam pieces on top of all the nasty ones to make it look better. We dug down to see how deep it was and the stench was unbareable!!! On the plus side they started offering a ninja class that has its own seperate room and looks amazing! Im hoping they will redo the whole gym like this (especially the pirate ship gym)
Negative experience: I took my son to open gym paid $10 and my son found a hidden ball no one was ever playing with it and want to play with it , in his imagination he was pretending it's (lava ball) and created a playtime for himself . However 5 minutes later , a little girl came up to my son wanting the ball and the coach TOOK the ball from my son while he just start playing and enjoying himself and handed the ball it to the little girl , TELLING my son he should share . So the girl took the ball and ran away with it . (when My son just found the ball and just start playing with it) lack of experience of how to deal with kids and situations like this caused my son to be upset and sad and frustrated , he wanted the ball back and he didn't understand why was taking from him when he just found it and just start playing with it . So My son went to the little girl and her grandma he asked about the ball and he said I am not done playing And he said tot he her grandma she took the ball from me. (He didn't use any force other the. Explaining what happens and why he want the ball back ) That resulted a complete stranger yelling at my son and approach me rudely that my son is not behaved and he shouldn't be talking this way (all my son did was asking for his ball that was taken too soon from him by the coach ) The coach caused my son to be sad Caused us to be in bad situations and let a complete stranger who did not know what happens exactly to yell at my son and pass judgment on him and me . The coach He's seeing my son was sad about the ball he DID NOT try to distract my son with another game but INSTED he say no BUD go play with something else . It was a horrible experience ever that made so frustrated and tearing up and we couldn't understand or believe why we were talked this way from complete stranger or why the coach is coaching this way ! My son never ever takes anything from anyone but I agree he didn't stop wanting what was taken from him too soon . My son never used any bad words or used any force. We didn't understand why a complete stranger who has nothing to do with it and didn't even know why my son is wanting that ball to pass judgment on me and him . All I can say it the first horrible unfair experience and lack of experience from the coach that caused all this trouble . He fail by taken the ball from my son TOO SOON He fail to distract my son to get his mind off of the game he just created for himself He fail by letting a complete stranger yelling at my son (like she was working there and she knows exactly what happened ) and made her pass judgment on something she's clueless . We paid $10 for open gym that we didn't enjoy playing and we're mistreated We will withdrawal my son from all classes we enrolled him in . We will never use the parent night out any more . We will not go back and not recommend this place because incident like that can happen to anyone anytime. For hiring kids who are not capable of handling normal behavior of children.
Negative experience: My cousin said that tg1 is terrible one of the coaches is very mean in particular I don't know her name but don't go to tg1 my cousin had the worst experience. DONT GO TO TG1 THIS PLACE COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY
Fantastic experience: Went in today to see the facility and it was very clean and has everything my daughter needs to learn gymnastics. The owner walked us around and he was very nice, professional with a good sense of humor and informative the staff was very friendly and it looked like they all were having a great time together and they helped us so much. My daughter will be joining next week she absolutely loves it after staying for a few hours for a free parents night out event. Highly recommend this gym.
Fantastic experience: Coach Shane is the best!!! The high school student from Lake orion. Such a fun and nice coach!!
Fantastic experience: Seemed legit.
Fantastic experience: This is my gym and I love how competitive the coaches are. I live my gym and many if the coaches are in college gymnastics and are on teams themselves. The older coaches are tough and make you push yourself harder. This gym is good for training. The open gym is awesome. I'm always working in my tricks. All if the little kids look up to us older kids and I love it. Coaches are so kind and this is my gym to stay. Also many of my friends are there. Many kids from the west Bloomfield, Bloomfield and Troy area. So many kids all over are there. I love this gym and once again it's mine to stay.
Fantastic experience: I love going here for gymnastics my coaches are so fun and make the experience even better they have so many challenges that make you so strong and they aren't so serious and can give you a good time I've done gymnastics for 2 years and the coaches motivate me I am about to move on to advanced classes and pre team! I started in beginner and it's was so fun and coach Jenn is so fun if your looking for a place for your kkid this is the please from my perspective one of the student
Positive experience: We had our twins 3rd birthday party at Troy Gymnastics. I was initially concerned because of the back-back birthday parties and parents night out in the gym that we rented. We expressed our concerns and were pleasantly surprised. The owner came to greet our guests and make sure that everything ran smoothly. They switched parents night out to the other gym. The coaches and Heather worked hard to make sure that everything ran smoothly. Our kids had a blast, and we were very thrilled. It turned out to a memorable event for us.
Negative experience: Hot, stinky. Impossible to see my daughter 50 yards away on trampolines. When I tried to stand outside an open door, I was rudely shooed away. Seriously, bring powerful binoculars if you sent to actually see your kid. Some of the positive reviews here are obviously posted by staff.
Negative experience: Worst Customer service ever! they are so hard up for cash they would not refund or even work with me after my terrified 5yr old dropped the class. Worst customer service, i tried to talk with them and they hung up on me, and when i called back they still would not budge on a even 50%! cheap cheap cheap people, over rated gym
