Negative experience: Edit- cleaning went down hill as well as customer service. Gym failed to be profitable so they closed location but not before doing a quick cash grab from members that have no interest in traveling to Oakley plaza. Charged us a club improvement fee on a club that closed. Pathetic Cleaning lady is awesome, not too crowded in AM. Never seen machines out of order for too long

Negative experience: The gym closed
Fantastic experience: Super disappointed this place is closing. I've been going there since I moved to Asheville and the other locations are going to be out of the way. Confused also because it's always busy!!

It’s so convenient and close to everything.The others are just too far out and with traffic, it would take me an hour to get there and an hour to get home. So unfortunately I’ll have to cancel my membership once this one closes on Dec 15th. I had JUST gotten into a steady constant workout routine. Thank you Golds for helping me get on track. It was recommended by doctors that I start moving and working out….Golds saved my life when I chose this location to get on track with my health. Will miss this amazing location with even more amazing people working there and the others who work out. This felt like a wonderful little safe place and got me confident with my body, over the past two months.

Negative experience: This gym is becoming very toxic, with very drama filled people. This gym used to be great but it’s has a lot of toxic people who ruin the gym environment. I will be going to another gym.

Positive experience: Great gym, great location, great group of employees. It's never super packed when I go which is a plus. Due to covid they shut the pool down and the child care section. I wonder if those will be coming back?

Regarding the aquatics area, the pool area was shut down just prior to Covid closure in early 2020. This was a change that Gold's Gym made to restructure our focus to the more traditional goals that started our brand. So unfortunately, the pool and childcare will not be returning to our gym. Fantastic experience: At golds, they really have it figured out. Bathrooms are always clean, equipment is always service and functional, and everything is super close and convenient. Thank God we didn't have to no longer wear masks.

Negative experience: The facility is excellent, the equipment is great . If only I could get in to use it. Third time that no one has showed to open the place up. Considering a change.
Fantastic experience: A man was harassing me today at this gym, so I escalated it to Chloe and manager Scot. They both readily addressed the issue by approaching the man and telling him that his behavior is not acceptable at this gym and that there will be consequences regarding his membership if it occurs again. I feel that they truly heard me out and ensured me that my concerns were valid. Thank you both so much for committing to maintaining a safe and healthy atmosphere for all members. I can't recommend this gym enough!

Fantastic experience: I just moved here from Florida. I've been a gym rat since the 80s. I've been a member of dozens of gyms all over the US. This spot is easily "top 5." They have all the equipment you can think of, a huge facility, cool staff and it’s never crowded (yes, including Monday evening). For $25/mo you can't beat this. I love this gym!

Fantastic experience: This gym is absolutely incredible! The general manager Scott has created an atmosphere, where everyone is friendly warm and so willing to help even giving instruction! Asheville has a lot of gyms to choose from, however whenever we come in town, this is the gym of our choice, as it always feels like we are welcome and are home! Well done Golds Team!!!!!! Positive experience: I really like the equipment in this gym. My only thing I don't understand is the lack of water bottle filling station. It's difficult to use the water fountain on this and it's such a basic gym feature for any gym. Hopefully they can get this added!!
Positive experience: Solid gym I have been going here for a few years now. The only issue is a train early morning before work and there have been 5 instances in the last few months and nobody shows up. Tough go for those who are busy and can only train in the morning.
Fantastic experience: The place has everything you need, but that's not the issue. I've had a membership here for a while. I like meeting with other Veterans and working out here. Yesterday I was approached by an employee who is in the National Guard. I was in the regular Army almost ten years and have had numerous deployments and some to places I don't like talking about. I talked with this employee for a few minutes, but the problem was this EMPLOYEE had the nerve to ask me for an ID to prove I was in the Army. That's insulting to me or any other Veteran. I will be exiting as a member ASAP, as will most other vets unless this employee is removed.

Negative experience: Being charged unexpected fees and arguing back to back about them. Charges being charged after my CC was stolen and they charged me the transaction against me on the SAME DAY of membership due!!

Negative experience: The lockers were all bent and beat up, the sit down elliptical machines were old and worn out. I thought it going to fall apart on me while I was working out. The whole place needs to be remodeled. The most positive thing I can say is that the people who work there were nice.

Fantastic experience: Probably the best fitness club I've ever been to. Calm, cool, and spacious gym with amazing staff. Couldn't be happier with the switch from another location. The facilities are nice, clean, and well maintained. The orange paint is bright and keeps me energized. The staff is always helpful and the layout is good. The only time I've EVER had to wait was for the leg curl but let's be honest I should be doing squats anyway. The tall shaved head manager is very handsome and nice. Always professional.

Fantastic experience: A giant range of equipment, a separate women only exercise room, very nice staff, and a very diverse range of exercisers. In terms of age, gender, and very strong /serious to very casual. Equipment has been well maintained. Classes LOOK awesome, though I haven't taken any. Update : I continued going to Gold's during the "mask days" of the pandemic. Glad that's over.

Fantastic experience: The staff is very nice and the gym is very clean.i love that its adults only. I'll be glad if they ever open the pool back up. Even if the hours are limited. I think we all need to get past the covid thing and get back to enjoying things like swimming and saunas!
Fantastic experience: Staff was friendly and offered help, they were inquisitive about what I was doing. The gym was open with good space, they had barbells, dumbbells, and your cookie cutter machines. Really the space is irrelevant if you're committed to improve your body it just help me facilitate the process a bit more. Side note it was 15 dollars for a day pass, a bit pricey but the individual has too decide what he wants to spend his money on
Fantastic experience: This has been a great fit for me in my fitness journey!
Positive experience: Atmosphere is great, never too busy when I come between 9a-3p. Staff are very friendly! I enjoy being able to remove my pump covers and Feel confident. They also have a female only room connected to the locker room.The only downside is someone always breaks one of the leg press(I use to warm up) however the ones that use plates are always readily available. They are supposed to have a pool and sauna but it’s closed down. There is only 2 platforms one smaller than the other if interested in Olympic lifting, one is smaller than the other.
Fantastic experience: Excellent staff, personal training and coaching! My trainer Allison is exceptional at pushing me physically and mentally to be better, I really feel like I get more than my money’s worth from training. I love this gym and that it offers the women’s only gym but also has a large variety of equipment outside of the women’s only side as well. I wish they offered childcare while you workout but otherwise I really enjoy this gym and the staff.

Positive experience: I had a serious billing issue with the gold's gym but the new gm SCOTT worked with me and never lost his cool when I certainly was losing mine. In the end he was able to correct the issue and was great about following up and keeping me updated. Would be 4 stars if not for the whole issue. Nice clean equipment but some of the staff could be nicer. Overall I'd recommend you try golds. They are the best value on a budget. Ty again Scott. Customer service goes a long way.

Fantastic experience: I started working out at Golds gym 2 months ago. I have been a runner most of my exercise life (20+ years) but was looking for a change up. Not knowing a lot about strength training I decided to use a personal trainer in order to get the best experience and one on one knowledge. I have now been working with Tanner 2-3 times a week, and he is the best! Already I have seen improvement in muscle tone, strength, and energy. I love my workouts and look forward to them every day. He also gives me tips on nutrition to improve my workouts. I understand they have another staff person, Suzy, who has great nutritional knowledge as well and I have seen some very good results from her diet plans Wanted to give her a shout out to say Gold gym has a wholistic approach to keeping you healthy and at your top form. And yes! It’s back day !!
Fantastic experience: Felt welcomed as soon as I walked through the door. Gentlemen was a chill nice respectable guy. Equipment was decent. Overall a good place to get a pump while your on vacation or visiting. Very clean gym as well.

Positive experience: Good for weightlifting and cardio machines but holding back the stars as others have mentioned, sauna, steam room and pool are closed and there seems to be no plan to open. They advise we can go to the “other” Gold’s in town to use their sauna, etc but that just begs the question why this one can’t open theirs.
Positive experience: Nice gym, they have all the basics. But I will not be joining due to the lack of masks. Myself and one older gentleman were the only one's wearing them aside from staff. No I'm not afraid, and I am vaccinated, but I have children who are not. So just a heads up to anyone considering this place they do not care if you wear masks.

Fantastic experience: Best price for all the amenities, like pool and hot tub and classes, PLUS childcare. Helpful friendly staff. Bright big showers, the bad shower review is not even a pic of this location. Children are not allowed in the pool (con for parents, pro for others). My children are learning to swim so I went elsewhere, but totally positive trial experience.

Negative experience: Sauna and steam still not available which is a dis service to your patrons. The governor lifted the last stages so why have you not opened the amenities?
Positive experience: If I could give 0 stars I would. Signed up being told that it was no commitment by Joshua King because I explained my financial situation and he said it would be no problem to cancel whoever only to find out there is a 100$ fee. Then after changing my bank card they got the card information and started pulling money from my account so basically leaving me with nothing and unable to buy groceries or gas for the week. Went in to talk to the manager and he was uncaring about my situation and said I could apply to cancel but that they may not approve since I signed up for a year? But I never got offered month to month but then found out my friend did. Just overall very unsatisfied and very upset that I have to scrounge for food since they took 4 payments out in one day of totaling 130$ which is all I had left for the week...and didn’t even offer a refund or anything
Positive experience: Just joined a few days ago! So far so good. The gym has a lot of free weights, cardio machines and workout machines. As far as safety during covid, the staff checks your temperature when you arrive. I feel like there is not enough hand sanitizer stations near the equipment or by the sanitation bottles. I bet those bottles rarely get cleaned and everyone is touching them. I have seen staff not wearing their masks over their nose so it kind of defeats the purpose. I also saw a staff member collecting spray bottles around closing and she rubbed her nose and then touched a bottle that stayed there to be used until closing. I dont want to be nitpicky, it's a really hard and scary time for everyone. Just some things to be mindful of!

Negative experience: I'm new to this gym and I've only been once... I can't get myself to go because of the judgement. When I walked in to sign up, every guy in the free weights was staring.. I felt incredibly judged. Another man was dropping weights that echoed throughout the entire facility. I really feel judged walking into this facility. Every time I walk in, it's like I'm under spotlight. I'm not sure if I'll be going back or be returning to the previous gym I was a member at.
Fantastic experience: Great gym with no contract pricing. Has lap pool, sauna, hot tub, and steam room. Never had to wait for a machine, rack, or bench. Childcare will hunt you down if your kid poos, which is pretty irritating with 3 toddlers but others may want. Has women's only section too.
