Fantastic experience: I have been going here for a few months now for kickboxing/muay thai and my experience so far has been great. All the coaches have been really helpful and they are knowledgeable in their discipline. The facility is always clean and there is plenty of space and equipment to use. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: This place is amazing. It's clean, and well-maintained, but not stuffy and corporate - feels like the real deal, not just a franchise in a strip mall. Come here with my 3 kids, and they have programs for all skill levels. Another great benefit, as you get deeper into it, is the ability to attend as many classes as you want for one reasonable monthly fee. 10/10 would recommend to any looking to get into Muay Thai seriously, or even just for someone who's looking to get their heartrate up a couple times a week with something way more fun than running on a treadmill.

Fantastic experience: If you live in the triangle or surrounding areas and are looking to start or continue Kickboxing / Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or No-Gi Grappling look no further than Apex MAC. There is a plethora of knowledge between all the instructors. The instructors I have personally developed significantly from are Jenny, Chris, Cole and Don. As a parent I highly recommended Apex MAC for your child. There is a nice sitting area to watch the class first hand, or many parents drop their children off to get other things done. This speaks to the safety/security and the family friendly environment Apex MAC offers. The restroom facilities are clean and there are changing rooms available if you’re coming from work or another event.

Fantastic experience: For someone that started with zero skills in Muay Thai, the coachers' attentive behavior was fundamental to my progress. It is a very welcome environment and a great place if you are into Martial Arts!

Fantastic experience: I loved training here. Though my time was brief because of College and Work, I’ve valued every class I went to and I’d do it all again. My roommates and I attended both the grappling classes and the striking classes and each were very valuable. The coaches here obviously care about their students. If you’ve been looking to start training martial arts, this is the place!

Fantastic experience: I have been training in Muay Thai and Boxing for over 20 years at various gyms in NC and other areas in the East Coast and Midwest - Apex Martial Arts Center is one of the best. Coach Don is incredibly approachable and knowledgeable. There is a very strong family vibe and culture with zero egos and a strong support system of fighters. On top of that, they produce a winning culture that has translated into success in competitions, but one that is focus on humility, hard work and camaraderie. Both my 6 years old daughter and I have trained there for nearly three years and we hope to continue to train there as long as we can. I would highly recommend for families, those looking to get into martial arts or seasoned practitioners!

Fantastic experience: My 12 year old twin girls, eager to find to themselves, wanting to try this and try that. As a family, we do what we can. Kickboxing!!!!!! Supporting this was imperative for reasons I can list and list and list besides the obvious! Don and his team at Apex Martial Arts Center helped with that! And quite a few others, of course!!! What an experience they had that will forever change their trajectory! My girls trained for a few months at the gym. We appreciated the rawness! They had an AMAZING trainer, Jada! Wow, what a young lady! She empowered me, just simply listening to her with her trainees. The experience gave them skills that they will continue to grow from. The feel strong...confident...disciplined...aware, self-aware. The comradery was fun to watch for them! When they are ready to get back in, that's where we'll be! Fantastic experience: What a great place this is. Even from my trial class I felt welcomed and like the staff really care. I've been going regularly for less than a month but I've become addicted to the kickboxing classes! Don, the owner, is exceptionally knowledgeable and patient, and a great coach as well. He does a great job of explaining the moves and combos in a way that make sense. I'm horrible at kickboxing but I'm not made to feel bad about it, which says a lot. I can't wait to continue to grow here.

Fantastic experience: I have been attending Apex Martial Arts Center for a year now, after checking out other Martial Arts schools. The AMAC is 100% focused on their clients and the classes. The personal touch provided by Don and the instructors is above and beyond what is to be expected. From kickboxing to Muay Thai to Jiu-Jitsu to Grappling to Judo (for both kids and adults) their instructors are extremely well versed in their respective areas. They care about everyone in the class and really help to refine your abilities as you progress. AMAC has the feel of the old time gyms where you just do the work - that is what they care about. You come in, you warm up, and give 110% of yourself on the mat. You learn the skills and have fun at the same time. Whether you are in an advanced class or just a beginner, everyone helps everyone. There is a true feeling of family here. If you are near Apex NC and looking for someplace to get in shape, might I suggest giving AMAC a try? You will not be disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Very beginner friendly! Coaches were super helpful, and its a fun environment. If you go consistently, you will be moved up to the intermediate/advanced class which has more 1:1 time and smaller classes. Owner is easy to contact as well.

Fantastic experience: The best MMA gym in the area. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Friendly community. The instruction is true to style. The addition of children's and youth classes makes it family friendly. Would recommend to anyone looking for a true MMA gym or want their children involved in the sport.

Positive experience: I was only able to attend classes for a few months for kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) but I loved it! Despite being the only female at the time, I felt the guys were very respectful and cautious when training with me. The people are very nice and they encourage you to continue to challenge yourself.

Fantastic experience: I've gone to a few gyms in the Raleigh area to train kickboxing/Muay Thai and my own personal experience training at Apex Martial Arts Center has been miles beyond the other gyms. The owner of this place really takes care of his students in terms of drilling good technique and honing in on details while also focusing on students' safety. I'd say all of the coaches here strike a great balance between motivating and pushing the students and giving accurate and critical feedback. It's also just a great environment to train in as far as sparring etiquette and general respect. Great staff, great training partners and I feel like I've greatly improved since I started training here.

Fantastic experience: I had never trained in any martial art prior to January of 2022 and have trained at Apex Martial Arts Center ever since then. I have nothing bad to say about the gym, the owner, and most importantly the people. They gym is filled with some of the most kind and respectful people I have ever met in my life and it’s a joy to train at this gym every day with them. The gym is my favorite environment and outlet to be at other than the comfort of my own home and this gym allows me to have the most fulfilled and exciting experience every time I train here. The coaches here do a fantastic job of working with students to train you to excel quickly at the fundamentals of any of the martial arts they offer here and assist you in reaching your potential, no matter how athletic or skilled you are in martial arts. To top it all off the gym is run by a fantastic owner and has had my back ever since I got there, which to me is a very important aspect of choosing a gym to train at, and I wouldn’t want to train under any other coach. I would highly recommend this gym, and I have, to anyone looking to find an environment that feels like home to train at and get a great workout.

Fantastic experience: My daughters and I joined this establishment and signed up for the cardio kickboxing class in March of this year and it's been a great experience. All the coaches are very knowledgeable and friendly, and the gym has a welcoming feel to it. The owner, Don Roger is also friendly and welcoming; he has worked with both my daughters and helped us get acclimated with a trial class and lots of pointers when we first joined. I would definitely recommend AMAC to any individual or family looking to get some exercise and learn some kickboxing skills at the same time.

Fantastic experience: I give this place 5 stars for the coaching my daughter has received and the care we have receievd from the staff. They are AMAZING coaches and run a tight ship. Apex Martial Arts fosters amazing community and a place to grow to be the best athlete you can be. My daughter has trained in various gyms and really enjoys the environment here and feels like it is inclusive and everyone is treated with respect! Come here if you are looking for good fighting technique, a good work out, or just nice community.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely the best! The crowd is super supportive, when more experienced folks are helping and pretty much watching newbies. You are young - here's class for you; you are mature but new to MA - you have a few options here too! You would like to prepare for tournaments - welcome! It took me a while to find something like that and I am so happy that I have Apex Martial Arts Center in my life now. If in doubt - sign-up for a free class, you won't regret it!

Fantastic experience: Just enjoying it

Negative experience: I started going to Apex in June of 2022 as a fun activity to participate in while I was on break from school. In August I attempted to cancel or pause the membership before the next payment period started, but was denied by the owner. Apparently it was stipulated somewhere in the contract that you had to cancel 30 days ahead of when you actually planned to cancel. I missed that date and despite explaining my situation and expressing how much I enjoyed my time there, I was charged for another month I was incapable of using. As a student, one month of membership is a lot of money for me and I was hoping that the owner would understand and sympathize with that and help me, but he coldly informed me of the impending charge and never spoke to me again. I felt really betrayed and almost scammed because all of the staff had been so kind and supportive, but when I really needed help the owner took my money and ran. As someone who is just starting to manage her own finances, I feel like I was taken advantage of and I wasn't expecting that from what seemed like a kind small business. I am certainly not coming back next year and it will be a long time before I feel comfortable entering into any kind of paid membership again. Edit: They charged me again. Definitely fraud this time not just a lack of empathy.

Fantastic experience: I started a few months ago at AMAC. I feel like I came in with a good base from training at another gym for a year. Don could not be more welcoming and inclusive and his gym has a positive vibe. It can be very intimidating to go into a martial arts class for the first time, and every class I've been in has been welcoming and disarming. I personally appreciate that as an older female athlete. I enjoy the class formats. There's a good amount of cardio push at the same time you are learning KB and incorporating challenging combos. The level 1 class is consistent for learning the basics of KB and there is growth potential for every member. My 6 year old daughter loves the kids classes. I enthusiastically recommend AMAC!

Fantastic experience: I've gone here for many years now and the lessons are AMAZING. I've done both kickboxing and BJJ classes, and they have some of the best instructors I have ever met. I highly recommend the kids kickboxing classes, as the classes are easy to learn for anyone that is new to martial arts. The owner of the gym is also a great kickboxing instructor for the adult kickboxing class.

Fantastic experience: Joining this team has been great! The staff and team members are very knowledgeable and helpful. Been going here for about 5 months and have learned quite a bit. Transitioning from doing karate my whole life to kick boxing has been quite an adventure so far. Coach Don has been a great mentor and instructor. My 2 boys are also doing kick boxing and really enjoy all the techniques and lessons they are learning. Definitely recommend trying out this gym!

Fantastic experience: This was my son's first try at bjj. When your 5 yr old says he wants to try it as a parent you are a little hesitant. When we found out that Open Guard had a kids class we signed up. My son in now 7yrs old and we have been consistent/active members in this class. The Kids Coach(Coach Matt) has been a crucial part in the character and confidants development in my son. He is fantastic with all kids. We are grateful to have found this small group in our community. Strongly recommend this class! At least try it out!

Fantastic experience: I started at Openguard in 2016-2019 before an injury. Went back in 2021. I love this place because there isn’t contracts. Kids are fickle and you don’t want to be stuck in a sport for a year when they don’t want to do it anymore. Learned a lot in BJJ, hopefully I can get back to it. Don’t hesitate call Don today.

Fantastic experience: Thankful to have such a great gym with top quality trainers in our area. My oldest son has been training for over a year and Don has worked to get him competition ready! More importantly, Don has taught him resilience and helped him gain tremendous confidence. My youngest son has also been part of the youth programs which have outstanding coaches as well. I may be partial to all things related to female empowerment, but the female athletes (of all ages) training at the gym are extremely impressive! If you want to feel empowered, try a class!

Fantastic experience: My son expressed interest in kick boxing and I learned that they offered a free intro class for kids. Well, he was hooked after meeting Coach Donna and we went out and bought gloves that same night. Don was super friendly and communicative about the free class offer and we were able to drop in to a class when it was convenient for us. The class keeps our son engaged and working hard and he absolutely loves it. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this place! I look forward to kickboxing classes each week. I take both my 9 year-old son and my 6 year-old little girl with me. They have their own age appropriate kickboxing classes at the same time I am in adult class. Brazilian Ju Jitsu classes are also available. In fact, with one fee you have access to both BJJ and kickboxing classes. Good luck finding that deal anywhere else! I’ve learned so much in the 3+ years I’ve been going there, and I’m still learning new things each week. There are kickboxing classes for cardio, working on technique, and classes that incorporate a lot of sparring. Don and his team of coaches are amazing, and are truly passionate about kickboxing. I feel very fortunate to have found this place!

Fantastic experience: My son and I have been taking kickboxing class at AMA for several months. My son absolutely loves the kids class. The coaches are all great and work with each kid at their level. I take the adult class and I can’t believe what a workout it is. Don has really put together a great team of coaches and created a gym that is incredibly welcoming. If you are considering kickboxing or BJJ this is the place.

Fantastic experience: I have been impressed with Don Rodgers and his staff as they have not taken COVID 19 precautions but also adjusted as the recommendations have changed. My son started beginner kickboxing in April and really enjoys learning, the instructors and the other class members. I would highly recommend Apex Martial Arts Center.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, I came in knowing nothing and they made me feel right at home. Had a great time rolling and got hooked fast. Also, these guys were amazing during the COVID lockdown: they did the responsible thing and suspended operations and billing for all their members until they could operate safely. They made a tough call but demonstrated how much they care about their members.

Fantastic experience: UPDATE 10-1. excellent safety procedures with Covid. Everyone is checked for fever and wears masks until they get to their designated six feet. Wrestle partner remains the same person in order to reduce exposure. Floors mopped after class. We feel completely safe and comfortable sending our eight year old. Cannot say enough good things about this place! It’s affordable for the area and the sport. It’s interactive and engaging. Our six year old son loves coming to the jui jitsu class so we’ve even added other classes For him! APM doesn’t nickel and dime you like the big chain places. I feel like it’s a great value without slumping on great quality.

Fantastic experience: This place is absolutely great. Don and his coaches are friendly and very good at instructing both beginners and experienced kickboxers. Everyone was friendly and helpful. They have a ton of gear if you don’t have you’re own stuff. I actually miss it a lot and plan to go back as soon as my schedule allows.

Fantastic experience: I have nothing but extremely positive things to say about Apex Martial Arts Center. I've been attending their Jujitsu classes for over a year now and my daughter have been kickboxing on the other side of the gym. The management is excellent and you truly feel like a part of family when you walk in. We have made a bunch of new friends of all ages and the friendly atmosphere is the perfect combination of joy and hard work that shows results. The fact that both of us can get a workout in at the same time is super convenient. We both love it. The instructors are piers in their individual martial arts specialties. We've both learned a lot, gotten stronger and more agile. I will be a part of the Apex Martial Arts Center family for a long time to come. I suggest you stop in for yourself, get a few workouts in and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Fantastic experience: Very welcoming atmosphere and all around fun place to train. From my experience thus far, all of the instructors take time to explain things in detail, with a nice mix of drilling and rolling. Also, very easy to deal with on the administrative side of things - no contracts and always willing to work with people if their schedules change.

Fantastic experience: Forget the other gyms in NC. Check this place out. I personally have to say this place is my favorite & the longest time ive been training at any particular gym. I mostly do kickboxing here but they teach jiu jitsu & kick boxing. Sometimes the team goes out to do tournaments. We have AWESOME knowledgeable & experienced coaches. They are detailed with the techniques they show & they are passionate about it too! Also you dont have to do a contract with them & thry dont give you a salesmen spiel about anything either.... Like other gyms. I want to mention a few but i just keep it light right now. The atmosphere is solid & so is the set up- its a genuine gym with a GREAT team. I've been here for over a year now. I can't really describe my enthusiasm you just have to check it out yourself!

Fantastic experience: TLDR: Amazing School, Great Price, Excellent Coaches and staff , Focused on students not profit. I can not say enough about how much my family and I love this place. When we were looking for a place to take our girls (ages 9 & 11) we searched for what seemed like forever. We looked into all the traditional types of place karate , taekwondo, and many others. We don't have a lot of extra money and many of these places required you buy the uniforms from them and that you sign a contract for a certain length of time, plus belt testing fees and other various charges. That and the average price was over $100 per student per month. COST/VALUE : At Apex Martial Arts Center they have multiple family plans. We have two kids so we pay $175.00 a month. For BOTH, not each, but for both. That is significantly less than any other place we found. Also with that membership our girls can attend any class. Not just the jiu-jitsu class but also the kick boxing classes. They could essentially go there 7 days a week for $175.00 a month. They are completely different from any other school in the area. They don't require a contract. If things get tough and you can't afford it that month just let them know and they'll put your membership on hold until you can afford it again. When you're ready to come back you just tell them and they'll begin billing you again. They also don't care where you get your equipment from. If you want to buy from them great but if not that's fine too. There aren't any belt testing fees or other random charges. STAFF/CLASSES The main coach for the kids is coach Matt, and there are two other coaches that help as well. He is an amazing teacher. He is very thorough in explaining what they'll be learning that day. Then when they pair up to practice the coaches are constantly moving around checking on the kids giving advice, helping to correct their technique. He also places a huge emphasis on being a good partner. In every class he talks about having respect for your partner and being safe. Another great thing is that the kids that are more experienced will help the newer students when they are practicing. They'll guide them through the move as they work together "now move your hand here, place your knee there" things of that nature. SUMMARY: We love Apex Martial Arts Center. We've only been taking the girls about two months now and we really feel like family there. Coach Matt is amazing. Anytime we've had an issue or a question he takes the time to speak with us and we don't feel like we're being a bother. Just try it out. Take a free class. Talk to coach Matt. Stop by and watch. It really is an amazing place.

Fantastic experience: My family is excited to have discovered this great martial arts gym in Apex! The staff are friendly and respectful to students. They keep classes fun too. My daughter has increased self confidence and a real excitement for kickboxing that I have not seen with her involvement in other sports! I feel like she is learning essential skills to last a lifetime.

Fantastic experience: My 11 year old is truly enjoying kickboxing. He looks forward to each class. The trainers are great, supportive, fun. He is learning a lot already in the short time he's been training here.

Fantastic experience: I have been training Bjj and kick boxing at Opengard For 8 months now and I just have great things to say about the gym. It has a great atmosphere and every one there is willing to help. I started classes thinking I was too old for that, but was never treated as if was not supposed to be there. If you want to learn some self defense, have fun, and make new friends, this is the place for you.

Fantastic experience: Apex martial arts center has the perfect program for kids. They teach a non traditional approach to self defense with an emphasis on reality that incorporates many different disciplines. That being said, there is also a heavy emphasis on character development that is often found in more traditional schools. This place is the best of both worlds. As a veteran martial artist, I was very selective when I went looking for a place to trust with the training of my son. I would highly recommend Apex Martial Arts Center to anyone looking for a great self defense program that prepares kids for real life scenarios while holding true to traditional values.

Fantastic experience: An excellent school with awesome instructors and great people to train with. There's a variety of skill levels, ages, men and women. Wayne and Geoff are top notch Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructors who have both the experience and aptitude for teaching. I cannot say enough great things about AMAC.
