Negative experience: Update 10/22. Bathroom is still not fixed. 1 toilet for an entire gym. Instead of apologizing just spend the money and get the bathroom fixed. What the hell is going on with your 7989 Beltline road Dallas TX 75248 club?! The place is filthy all the time. Has had only 1 working toilet for the last 4+ weeks and now has no working bathroom at all?! Is it legal to run a gym without a bathroom?

Negative experience: Don’t bother going here. Rude manager name Bridget. When a customer comes up to service desk, end your conversation with your coworker …get off your phone and treat the customer. Basic customer service skills a manager should know.

Negative experience: Walked in this past Tuesday and asked for a day pass to check out this gym since I just moved to the area. I was told it was $10 for a day pass. I get home and go online to find out there’s a free pass. Not sure why the staff wouldn’t tell me this. Gym way smaller than I imagined. Anyways, I never got to workout and I’ll explore other gyms with better customer service

Negative experience: The gym is fine, the reason I am giving one star is because the employees are not very responsible. It’s supposed to open at 5am but several times people have to be waiting long after 5am for the gym to open. Very disrespectful for the ones who just have enough time to workout in the morning.

Negative experience: The gym is fine, but be aware of **the conditions in the contract before signing it**. They don’t mention that you will be charged a $53 annual fee 45 days after starting your membership. Additionally, they don’t inform you that if you sign up during the “$0 enrollment promotion,” your membership will automatically renew, and you need to send a cancellation email at least 7 days before your next billing date. These terms should be clearly explained by the staff from the start.

Positive experience: I joined this gym because of the retro music but somehow they mostly play rap! What?!? Also sometimes in a Saturday they open late. I do like the fact that it’s close to home and it’s not super crowded but I sure do hope they go back to playing more of that retro music!

Fantastic experience: I started my membership here after about 6 months of irritation with the crowds at the Texas Family Fitness up the road (nice facility but way too crowded with high school kids!). Retro was in the process of taking over from the prior owners and renovating the space when I started my membership. They told me about all of the upgrades that they were going to do. I actually didn't care. It looked clean and it wasn't crowded and that is all I really care about. But, I have been pleasantly surprised at the slow, steady transformation of the place over the past several months. The staff is attentive and respectful and the facility appears to be consistently clean. The locker room (the men's) is still in need of updating. BUT, that appears to be slowly happening. The only negative is that the closing hours on the weekends - at this location - are too early. **After many months my only criticism is the absence of paper towels in the bathroom. I know a hand dryer is cheaper in the long-run but blowing dirty air on my hands is kind of gross and if they aren't going to provide paper towels the staff needs to come in frequently and mop up the standing water on the bath counters. If you inadvertently lean on the counter while washing your hands you will walk away with a horizontal strip of water on your shorts. **

Negative experience: Do not go to these people as I try to cancel my membership and couldn’t because they were not working when there was Covid. Now they decide to say that I owe them money. I was paying them during Covid because they said they needed staff but staff cannot cancel my membership. This place is such a rip off. They are struggling for money. I would definitely choose another gym, such as planet fitness. Plus working out in a positive environment is very important to your growth and this does not display a positive environment. Definitely go to another gym where you can be in the company of good people. These people are hurting, thus changed their name to retrofit. By the way these people found a way to get rid of my first review. Then found a way to put this on my credit report. As I knew people who used to work out there and went to planet fitness. Negative experience: This place is pretty good, the only reason I give it 2 stars is because some staff members (not all) seem to prefer blasting the music at full volume. Really unpleasant. We all have our own music playing on our headphones.

Negative experience: My name is Valarie and for anyone who's interested in joining this gym, you should think twice. I was a member for years at YouFit/Retro Fitness in Richardson and when I ended my membership, they continued withdrawing funds from my account for 3 additional months after it was cancelled. I even went in to the facility to cancel my membership, paid for next fees, had the manager to sign my cancellation notice that I prepared and they continued to take funds from my account. When I discovered this, I immediately went in to speak with the Manager - Larry & Mr. Jim and each time I got the run-around and they would tell me, I'll send an email to the Corporate Office, let me call the Corporate Office to get this resolved. Years have past and I continued to stop by the Richardson location to see what's the status of my refund and to no avail, they have not given me my money back. I'm sure I'm not the only one this has happen to, but for those of your who are considering joining, you might want to think twice. They want you to Auto-Pay for monthly fees but no matter how many times I've stop by, I have yet to receive my refund. They have no problem taking your money, but have a huge problem giving you, your money back. Valarie,

Fantastic experience: Good gym, not packed at all and very clean equipment. I have a membership here and LA fitness and prefer here for a workout. Got all the machines and free weights needed. If they had a sauna this place would be perfect

Negative experience: I think I joined in June when they 1st took over and it wasn't crowded, but by August they ramped up membership so much its crazy crowded and they don't keep late night hours where you can at least get a decent session in. Its clean though. The staff stare at me odd when I walk in, and they have people who make me feel uncomfortable. So I told them I don't want to be here anymore and left. 2 months later their Billing people are hounding me about catching up my account. I haven't been here since August and they're trying to bill be through November. Most uncomfortable place I've ever tried training. I try to keep my head down but this is so sad.

Negative experience: Está bien, el problema está que cuando quieres cancelar te dicen que el sistema no sirve, que el manager no está, que vuelvas más tarde, que ellos te llaman después, y así te van a traer por meses. Oh pero para abrir la membresía de volada te atienden. Estoy furioso porque siempre que voy me dicen que no se puede cancelar en ese momento por alguna razón. Y nomás se ríen cuando les digo que ya he ido muchas veces No puede ser, hace tres meses que escribí la parte de arriba de esta Review y casualmente a la siguiente semana por fin me cancelaron mi membresía. pero al mes siguiente me cobraron el cargo anual Y cuando les pregunté por qué? me dijeron que se habían equivocado pero que me iban a reembolsar mi dinero, pero ya pasaron 2 meses y no me an rembolsado nada. Qué tengo que hacer para que me reembolsen mi dinero?

Negative experience: This gym makes it impossible to cancel your membership. They put you through loops and say you have past due balances whenever your account is set on auto draft. I have been on hold and directed to multiple people just to delay canceling.
Fantastic experience: For a short time, we were missing some of the exercise equipment. But management listened to the members, and all of the equipment we were missing has been restored! Very happy with Retro! THANK YOU!

Negative experience: They make the cancellation process extremely hard, even after your contract ends. You are also set up for automatic renewal after the contract ends, and the only way to cancel would be to come in-person with your document, or to mail them a physical letter. I did not notice my account being charged for all the months after my 1 year contract ended.
Fantastic experience: I joined Youfit (now Retro fitness) during the COVID times when my regular gym was irregular and “heavy on quarantine” and being close to home. Years later, I never left. When it became Retro Fitness, they changed out all the old equipment with brand new ones and more. During evenings and weekends it can get busy but if you can manage to go during regular morning hours it’s not that crowded. The staff is good and the manager (Ataleo) is very attentive, very helpful and a pleasant character, He goes around making sure everything is kept clean and is often seen walking around picking up stuff off the floor and re-racking weights etc. Overall a good gym ..

Fantastic experience: I was tired of not seeing the gains I wanted, along with the weight loss I wanted to achieve. In early December, I took a leap of faith and started looking for a personal trainer at the gym. I was set up with Sam to assist me in my questions. Not only did he answer all my questions, he obtained my goals/what I was looking to accomplish. Needless to say, I signed up and started working out with Sam. I quickly realized he had a passion not only for wanting to help me with my fitness goals, but also for providing me the tools necessary to utilize the gym equipment safely. Jumping forward to five weeks later and I’m excited to say that with Sam’s direction, I’ve made great strides. Lost inches in my waist, and gained muscle mass inches in my upper/lower body. He has consistently observed my progress over each session and continually adjusted the workouts. I always try to guess what he’ll have me do but I never get it right, but it’s always fun. In addition, everything I learned from Sam about correct form has given me confidence that will ensure continued progress. Sam really does whatever he can to help his clients realize their goals, and ACHIEVE them. His workouts are challenging, rewarding and done in a fun atmosphere. All the while he is there with words of encouragement to help you push yourself every session. Here is some advice I could offer to anyone who is looking for a personal trainer: You can not go wrong with Sam! He has an incredible foundation and plethora of knowledge, understands your goals along with any limitations, and really wants his clients to succeed! I'm just one of many success stories that Sam has helped with!” I can say without any hesitation that signing up for Sam’s services for personal training was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Negative experience: The heater at one of the group classrooms has not functioned since January and no sign of trying to fix yet for almost two month. Go figure the feeling when doing yoga on floor. The manager is rude and membership fee just go up, wondering how many people will be staying.

Fantastic experience: With retro fitness taking over this gym I am really excited for all the new equipment and renovations! I recommend waiting until like April to start coming here because they are renovating at the moment and parts of the gym are closed off. Also the equipment from the previous gym that was here is not the best. On the bright side there will be a smoothie bar coming which I’m looking forward to!
Negative experience: I generally enjoy this gym. Pretty good equipment to get a good workout in. The employees are nice too. But I cannot stand going into the bathroom and seeing a dirty toilet. I have been patient and waited for conditions to get better, but the have not. The toilets are so neglected that they are now yellow and get more and more yellow every time I come here. The showers are also disgusting. Please, please, please be better about maintaining the restrooms and showers. I understand maybe your people don’t get paid enough to maintain the restrooms, but at least invest in a janitor, weekly clean up company, or a half hour restroom check. I am willing to update my review if conditions improve.

I must say that my experience with Dylan was exceptional and highly rewarding. From the moment I met Dylan, his positive energy and enthusiasm were contagious. Fantastic experience: Love this gym! I recently found myself in the market for a new gym after having the worst experience possible at Texas Family Fitness. A friend of mine recommended this location, so I decided to check it out. The facility itself has everything you need, but more importantly, the staff and management is great! The primary reason for me leaving my previous gym was due to management, bc of their unwillingness to see a customer as anything other than a dollar sign as well as their absolute willingness to screw you over as long as they benefitted. Since coming here, I have had none of those problems. Bridget was so helpful during the membership process and I'm so glad I made the switch!

Fantastic experience: Great gym! Tyler is so friendly just like the rest of the staff. Place is clean and they’ve gotten more updated equipment, just wish the treadmills had a TV in them but that’s just a preference. Overall would recommend.

Positive experience: It’s a good gym. It has a lot of machines and provides training regimes, but some of the people there don’t clean the machines that they use so i advice to clean everything before getting on the machine

Positive experience: I’ve been coming here for a couple of years now. Great atmosphere and staff! Equipment is pretty new. Small but if you come at the right time it’s usually not packed.

Negative experience: Do not go to this location. They lied about PT package multiple times! Awful! No quick tour or fully explained membership. The staff lied so much . This is only for this location. It left a bad taste in my mouth. Do not recommend at all! The staff is ridiculous!

Negative experience: I wouldn't suggest anyone going there after 6pm to workout. The facility is dirty, not enough cleaning tissue and solution at the posts during this covid time, stinking dirty toilets, overcrowded, not enough equipment..etc..its a mess of a place..and above all understaffed and disinterested employees..KEEP IT CLEAN DURING THE PANDEMIC OTHERWISE YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR CUSTOMERS...and there is a brand new clean facility down the street called texas family fitness...clean , new and same monthly !!! SO WAKEUP..
