Fantastic experience: This is an all around great gym. I joined almost a year ago and have learned so much. In a couple months I learned so many new techniques and skills. This gym has so much to offer.

Fantastic experience: I recently joined AMMS. The school offers BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu), Muay Thai (Thai boxing), MMA and Close Quarter Contact classes. The classes are well organized and well taught. The student instructors have been trained well, and they work students through the nuances of all the techniques they teach. The main instructors are great, and definitely direct students looking to succeed within their system. [One of the cool things is that Khru Paolo Tocha (probably best known for his role in the movie Bloodsport).] Classes involve technique, fitness and sparring. One definitely gets to practice the techniques and learn how well one is progressing in real scenarios. Another cool note, recently the school opened the morning "Kick Fit" classes to any student of Muay Thai or BJJ at no extra cost. Yes, this is a real school. And yes, this does sound like it would be one of the lame cardio-kickboxing classes from 'insert-a-gym'. It's definitely not. I started taking this in the morning to add to my exercise routine. The classes are great. They're brutal (if you really go for it), but they are great. Lots of plyometrics, Lots of cardio sprints. All in all my first four months at the school have been great. I highly recommend checking it out. There are two locations: One in West Los Angeles (for the Westside) and one in Hawthorne (for the South Bay).

Fantastic experience: This place is solid. Great environment, skilled and experienced instructors, friendly and supportive peers, respectful vibe, and challenging and fun to train. I grew up training mainly in tae kwon do, and various martial arts for about 10 years. I had to take a break for college and getting into the work world, but recently, it was finally time to get back into martial arts and training. I tried a few places and styles around LA, but most felt too aggressive and lacking the "art" that I was looking for. I tried a trial class at AMMS and immediately knew it was the right place. I felt very welcomed by all, and the instructor was able to include me in class while accommodating to everyone's experience level. This was very helpful as a beginner in a new art. Even better, I found after a couple months of training and getting my feet wet, that the classes and instructors can push you as hard as you're willing to go. Love this place and I would definitely recommend to give it a try.

Fantastic experience: AMMS is unique among martial arts schools. They've taken the relatively young art of MMA and created a full curriculum with a ranking system that combines contemporary MMA with the doctrines of honor and respect typically associated with more traditional arts. The training at AMMS is first rate and encompasses sport, athleticism, self defense, and personal growth. You can study stand-up (Western Boxing and Muay Thai), ground fighting (BJJ & Submission Wrestling), or both. If you are just looking for a tough workout, you won't be disappointed. For those looking for a more serious pursuit of MMA or competition, AMMS offers that as well. The students are welcoming and supportive and in a very short time I felt completely at home. Many times, senior students would walk up and introduce themselves to me. The facility is clean and well maintained. They also have a great kids program. Coach Jeremy, Kru Paulo, and Coach Akkim are all devoted instructors with years of both teaching and martial experience. I took most of my classes with Coach Akkim and I must say that he is one of the finest coaches I have ever trained with. He manages to adjust to the needs of each student (whether they are a black belt or it's their first day) and keep things challenging, but fun. Old or young, Coach Akkim will help you improve. My Boxing and Muay Thai improved in just a few short months. For me, when training there are always good days and not so good days. Days when I feel really on top and other days when I feel like I have two left-feet (which is funny cause I am left-handed), but even on my worst day I always left AMMS a little bit better because of the coaches and the other students. I can't think of a better recommendation.

Fantastic experience: My friend and I have been taking self defense classes at Coach Jeremy's gym for almost a year now. The environment has always been open and friendly. I started the classes knowing very little about self defense or martial arts. I've had an amazing experience and learned so much. I definitely feel more confident in my capabilities now in defending myself if needed. The lessons were practical and applicable to real life. They were crazy fun work-outs as well. Coach Jeremy and Chad are amazing instructors - so patient, knowledgeable, passionate, and super skilled. I would strongly recommend these classes to everyone I know!

Fantastic experience: I joined up about 6 months ago, and i' on my 5th martial art studio, this is by far the best. Not only with techniques, but overall discipline and art of the craft as well. I recommended a few more people as well, and they really have a family feel. I highly suggest starting up with them regardless if you know what your doing or not. Everyone is very supportive and the facility itself is clean and well maintained. AMMS is the future of MMA.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to A4 Fitness for a little over a year now and I am glad I have stuck with this gym! I was first impressed with the gym by the fantastic coaches who get to know you and your workout needs personally. They are always willing to work with you and they are never short of excellent advice. Adam Learner does an outstang job of running the gym and ensuring members get the most out of both the facilities and the coaches. I train one-on-one with Peter Haro for boxing. Pete is simply an amazing trainer. He has been the crux of my development as a boxer from nothing to where I am now as an amateur boxer. When I am not training personally with Pete, I go to the boxing classes offered at A4, which are run by both Pete and Akkim Lee. Aside from their impressively vast experience and extensive knowledge of boxing, what really sets these two apart from other coaches is their ability to incorperate technique training into the classes while maintaining a high fitness tempo. The classes are taught such that you are trained how to correctly punch, move, breathe, etc. while simultaneously putting that training into practice. So, whether you are just learning to box, or if you are an experienced boxer, the A4 boxing classes are definitely ones do!

Fantastic experience: The boxing/muay thai/mma coaches are very knowledgeable and easily approachable. If you are willing to learn and motivated to get a work out, this is the place for you. Energy from the crossfit class going on concurrently also pumps you up. Theres a wholefoods and a juice bar across the street to get ur nutritional fix as well. Ive met some cool and encouraging peeps while perfecting my martial arts. Doing so has made me lose weight, gain confidence, and most importantly not feel as guilty when i pig out.
