Orem Family Fitness Center: Opinions
Fantastic experience: I love this place, I go to the gym every day I can. They have very nice classes that make you start your day with energy and if you are on the machines, the view is spectacular
Fantastic experience: We absolutely love this place as how clean they keep it. We love how you can swim year around and the indoor playground is always a blast for the kids and is perfect to use if the weather is too hot or too cold it's just perfect! 5 plus stars!!
Fantastic experience: No complaints about this beautiful facility. They have all of the amenities that I need. Edit: My family has been going here for the past 3 months and it is never disappointing. The swimming pool is well maintained, there's a lot of Jimmy equipment available, the amenities for kids are numerous. This place really is an awesome benefit to the community Edit: already, they just got brand new equipment in the weights area. It is fantastic.
Fantastic experience: Good place for all things fitness and youth sports. Year pass for family is worth it.
Fantastic experience: Great family rec center. A lot of amenities and options. Leisure pool, slide, free weights, track. +more.
Fantastic experience: Its a great place to go with family, friends, and to workout alone.
Fantastic experience: Always clean with friendly staff. Pool is great and other amenities are worth the pay!
Fantastic experience: Far and above the best rec center I've ever been to. Huge pool with a sauna room, large hot tub, the gym facilities are new and in great repair, and the classes are fun and inviting. I like that this rec center doesn't charge extra for other things like the rock wall or lock them behind a separate room. For $5, you get access to the entire facility.
Fantastic experience: Great facility that is newly updated and offers a lot for families. For little kids, there is an indoor playground and the pool. The Provo Rec has more slides to offer to kids, but the Orem pool does have one and a small tide pool with a jungle gym. There is also a daycare that you can get punch passes for at a cheaper price. The day care is open mid morning for a few hours and then again in the evening. Saturdays it is only open in the morning till noon. For older children there is a rock climbing wall and group video game play.
Fantastic experience: This facility is always clean & less crowded than the Provo Rec. Center. I like that it has everything that we need available. Just remember to bring your own lock to lock up your valuables in a locker & they do have soap in the shower stalls, just in case you forget some. I definitely recommend it if you don't want to be around a big crowd, and it's cheaper if you're a resident or senior. Early mornings are a good time to visit when most people are in work and children are in school.
Fantastic experience: Recently renovated. The gym and pools are always in excellent clean condition. Sauna, hot tub and steamer are big plus to visit this family center. A+++
Fantastic experience: New, clean, safe and offers all aspects of physical fitness programs and equipment for all ages. A lot of parking. Child care offered.
Fantastic experience: The child care here is awesome! The girls who watch the kids are very nice and patient with them. It's also very affordable too.
Fantastic experience: Great fitness center for kids and adults. Reasonably priced. Lots of equipment. Much better than vasa.
Fantastic experience: Great rec center. Tons of different fitness classes and a good daycare for kiddos.
Fantastic experience: As city family fitness centers go, this place is the standard. It's pretty new, maybe 2 years old. The equipment is in good shape and well arranged, there are a large amount of classes that you can take, they have activity spaces available for all ages, and the cost is competitive. It would be wise for them to stop with the age limit on who can be upstairs and replace that with a minimum size if you're under 16.
Fantastic experience: It is so fun all the stuff me and my sister work out
Fantastic experience: My family and I have had a membership to the orem rec center for awhile now, it's always so clean and professionally staffed! The Childcare is phenomenal for those with young children! The scenery from the Gym on the top level is gorgeous! The two pools are always well taken care of and staffed with lifeguards which is so nice to ease the mind of parents.(knowing others beside yourself is watching out for the Littles is very encouraging.) All in all an Amazing facility with Great staff, equipment, and amenities!! If you're an Orem resident I'd highly suggest checking out our rec center!
Fantastic experience: Not crowded, fun for the whole family. Love the indoor pool.
Fantastic experience: This place got torn down and revamped in early 2021, and it’s super nice now- they even got new employees after the last ones died when the building collapsed on them when they bulldozed it. My friend worked there at the pool but then it turns out she liked me and I didn’t reciprocate so now I can’t swim there anymore, but the diving board is super fun and the lifeguards are pretty lenient on the whole drowning policy which I think is totally rad. I came here about 3-5 times a weeks for a year and what I used most were the machines upstairs and the track. There are usually 6am classes for women doing low impact yoga or things like that, so stay away from the upstairs cardio room if you like having any dignity. The water also tastes good from the fountains, the sinks, and even the toilets. I always run pH tests on every place I go to that has a toilet, and Orem Rec is no exception. The passes are a bit pricey at around $20 a month, but then again if you’re too poor for that your time is probably better spent getting out of that sales job and following your dreams so you can finally have enough money for that expensive TV you’ve wanted for so long. Bravo, city of Orem- I’m proud to live here.
Fantastic experience: Took a tour and the facility is well equipped, clean, and has activities for the whole family. It's very welcoming.
Fantastic experience: This place is fun for the family. It was only 5 dollars to swim all day and my 2 year old was free.
Fantastic experience: The staff there is all super nice and its a beautiful fitness center with plenty of activities to keep you entertained. The gym is amazing and every piece of equipment is up to date.
Fantastic experience: Worked out here while visiting. Great facility! Had everything I needed, including group classes.
Fantastic experience: The Orem Facility Fitness center is top notch. Lots of space, and generous light that spills in from the large expansive windows that also provide stunning views of the Wasatch mountain range. I also appreciate having multiple stations of sanitized-wipes to clean down equipment. There is a good variety of fitness options, weights, machines, track, pool, various fitness classes, basketball courts, and a few options for young kids as well. Nice job, Orem City.
Positive experience: I agree with another reviewer who said that for such a giant building, there is surprisingly limited space for personal stretching and body weight exercises like pushups, sit-ups, planks, etc. There is a small areas for it but it is not very roomy for the number of people who use the gym. It would be cool if they could allow people to use the giant group exercise rooms for these purposes when they don’t have a class l going on in them, since they are locked and empty when not in use, but I guess they just don’t want people in there unattended. Or maybe they don’t want to have to kick people out if there is a class soon. Other than that, its a pretty neat facility.
Fantastic experience: This is also one of our favorite places to go. My 2 and 3 year old grandchildren are learning to swim even without lessons. They absolutely love it! After swimming there is an indoor play place with climbing and slides galore. Although it is not monitored, parents are always there. Everything is netted and safe. Even exhausted the children cry when we must leave. Great place!!
Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this place! I have lived in Orem for 30+ years and I didn't go to the old rec that often. Now I am there multiple times a week as well as my 10 year old. He loves being able to have a place to play basketball that is safe and nice. The workers are always so friendly and helpful. The classes are fun for all ages. :)
Fantastic experience: I don't like crowds, but that's just me. I tried to get there early to avoid the crowds, but the downstairs weight room was pretty packed at 6 am. Upstairs with the machines was less dense. The couple people I talked to there were very nice.
Fantastic experience: very very nice place- its always clean, they have racquetball courts, the locker rooms are clean and just overall its very well maintained. great gym/pool :) they also sell year passes that are keychains, so you can scan it without talking to the front desk
Fantastic experience: This is a great fitness center, they have daycare onsite, a great indoor playground, the lap pool is 50 meters, there is a diving board, the kid pool is not as big or feature packed as Provo's rec center but it has a great layout, a lazy river, a fun slide and a nice pool that goes from 3 feet 6 inches deep to about 5 feet 6 inches deep. They offer many options for swimming lessons as well. Pickleball courts and basketball basketball courts are top notch. Kids younger than 13 are not allowed upstairs, it is a weight lifting, cardio and exercise studio, the track upstairs is nice and there is signage that tells you how many laps it takes to reach certain milage. A great rec center over all. I didn't cover all of the features available. Lots and lots to do here.
Fantastic experience: This is a brand new facility, and has all new exercise equipment, and a very nice pair of pools. They have quite a few classes that members can join. They also have 4 racketball quarts available. Family pass is very reasonable.
Fantastic experience: The orem family fitness center has a really family friendly pool. They have family bathrooms. Each family bathroom has its own shower that can lock. They have lockers. They have two kid slides in the pool. A nice shallow end for the little ones. The big slide, you can take your kids down. An adult has to go with the non swimmers down the slide. They have a hot tub and a lap pool. It was a fun experience. Would recommend.
Fantastic experience: Swim lessons at the rec. I'm sad all the chairs are put away but understand that it is likely to prevent the spread of covid. Last swim session my daughter had a flip floppy inconsistent teacher. This session she has a teacher who is pushing her a bit out of her comfort zone. I love that. She'll probably never be an Olympic swimmer but her teacher gives her great attention and is teaching her all the things she needs to know.
Fantastic experience: Tons of space and different machines, classes, and activities to keep you interested in working out! I love that it has more of community feel instead the uncomfortable "meat market", super athlete atmosphere. P.s. Im pretty sure, at least for older kids, if you're taking them with you, there are games and activities for them.
Fantastic experience: We love this rec center! From the pool, to the steam room, to the classes, taekwando for our kids, childcare, cardio and weights, we've been really happy with all of it. It's new and very nice inside. Even the family changing rooms/showers are very well thought out and nice quality.
Fantastic experience: We love working out here! Got all the toys, spacious, gorgeous mountain views..perfect!!
Fantastic experience: A great clean place, I had a great time doing a triathlon
Fantastic experience: We love the new upgrades to the rec center! The pool is the same but everything else is new. There is a new family focused locker room and dressing rooms and more. Still need to check out the gym but it looks pretty spacious.
Fantastic experience: I am amazed at the new facility. It's absolutely stunning what they've done! I also love the family changing room! Great change for the single parents that like to bring their whole family along. My son is autistic and needs my help and I couldn't do that before so we didn't go swimming often after he turned 8.
Fantastic experience: We were looking at the facilities for the first time. From the very start we were very impressed with the staff. Then as we toured the facilities we couldn't have been more impressed with the layout. The swimming pool is first rate. The spacing of the equipment seems to be very adequate . The track is a very excellent element, especially for the cold seasons of Utah. I am not quite sure if the variety of equipment is a much as other Fitness Centers. But it should be adequate. I look forward to using the Center.
Fantastic experience: The Orem family fitness center is in almost every way a top notch facility. The problem I am having is that they have a "Lazy River" that is the main reason I am a member. After a recent rather serious back surgery I, with my surgeons concurrence, determined that walking "upstream" or against the current in the lazy river was very good physical therapy and exercise for me. The problem is that the pool containing the lazy river is closed for an indefinite period. When I ask about it I usually get one of two excuses. 1. We are having boiler problems and repairs are needed. 2. There is a shortage of life guards. Either way, I am left to walk in the main pool which is ok. Or do without. Assuming the response shown is accurate and no reason to believe it's not, I am pleased to rate this facility five stars. It really is an outstanding facility.
Fantastic experience: This is a fantastic facility with things for the entire family. The views from the upstairs workout room are spectacular on a clear day. Orem is fortunate to have such a place.
Fantastic experience: These new facilities are really impressive and a massive improvement from the older building. This place was great. Friendly customer service, clean facilities, well maintained machines, huge and expanded pool, basketball courts, and all around big place. The track is much better than before, with cows out windows instead of downstairs in the dark. I do miss the old rec center in some respects, especially the plethora of racquetball courts - There are only 4 of them in these new facilities. Other than that, it’s a great option for recreational and exercise activities. No complaints.
Fantastic experience: The new update is amazing. Now includes a greatly expanded weight lifting fitness center, a bouldering wall, and a kids pool. The family changing rooms are very helpful for people with small kids.
Fantastic experience: Just remodeled. Stunning. They wanted to transcend from a red brick box, to a 25 million dollar showcase of design. The inside is almost a picture book that frames the surrounding mountains. As you jog or spin you will feel the outside beauty touch you. Everything has been improved. Larger safer hot tub, better facility for families, and incredible design and function. I do think removing racquetball courts that were constantly being used for nearly four decades is misguided, the overwhelming positives of improvement is not. Watch how the staff strives to deliver professional service!!
Fantastic experience: I've lost 33 lbs and 6 inches around my waist since I started walking on their indoor track every weekday. The track is gentle on my ankles and joints, and the indoor environment lets me keep consistent regardless of the weather.
Fantastic experience: What a great facility, holy moly, this place has improved since it was "Orem Rec Center"! Pool is great, of course, but the rest of the place is impressive! They have a weight room with incline for running up, and an adult slide to come down. They even have a video game area!
Fantastic experience: The renovation is amazing! I got a year pass and I'm super pleased with everything. I've been going ever since it reopened and even with all the hype it wasn't too crowded. All the machines are top quality and they have almost any machine you could ever want. They have two big racks of free weights, one upstairs and one downstairs. The pool hasn't changed much but the rest of the gym is all new. They have classes going all the time and they are easy to find.
Fantastic experience: I work out at this pool everyday, it is very nice. The renovations are done for the pool part, but the gym is not done.
Fantastic experience: Love this place. They have really laid back in nice staff. The gym is really good. They have all kinds of courts and whatnot ( I really only use the gym, Showers and pool, and track). They have a army of like bike things that people love to ride. Big but organized. I really like the pool, the hot tub, sauna. Its always clean and well kept. Great place and safe atmosphere. I'm here every night.
