Gleason's Gym

Fantastic experience: Gleason’s Gym, in Brooklyn, is the oldest active boxing gym in the USA and the mecca of boxing aficionados and box-fitness fanatics alike. Being boxing fit is probably one of the best feelings that you can achieve, and is available to all at Gleason’s with female & male very qualified trainers. I paid a visit some time ago and I was kindly allowed to browse inside by the lovely front desk lady. Truth to be told, you feel like Jake La Motta (who trained there between 1949 and1951) is about to start his early morning routine any minute now. Fantastic, unpretentious and inspiring place, even for no boxing fans, this no-frills Rocky Balboa-esque joint worth a visit. Its Hall of Fame is as long as impressive with the likes of: Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Victor Galindez, Carlos Monzon (Tyson’s favourite old guard middleweight), Chris Eubank, Jake La Motta, Pipino Cuevas, Julio Cesar Chavez, Marvin Hagler, Charles ‘Sonny’ Liston, etc. Promise that when I move to Brooklyn I will get my membership pronto!!! …no punch line needed for this review though ;-)

Fantastic experience: The mecca of boxing...A full size boxing gym with 3 boxing rings and 1 wrestling ring...15 heavy bags, speed bags, mirrors, and cardio equipment. We also have locker rooms, and showers available.

Fantastic experience: I started working with boxing trainer Raul Frank in February 2021 (right before the pandemic hit). Working with Raul saved my life. It was the only consistency, structure, and outlet I had. At the start of the pandemic, all the workouts were online via zoom, and when things began opening up again, we did a hybrid of zoom, Gleason's gym, and at the park (which was really fun). Raul taught me how to push myself, my mind, and my body. He believed in me and my strength and wouldn't let me give up when all I wanted to do was quit. Thanks to Raul, I am in the best shape of my life. You might hate him during your workout and throw a few cuss words here and there, but afterward, you are so thankful for his support and you feel AMAZING. Raul is more than a trainer to me; he is a mentor and friend. I highly recommend working with Raul!

Fantastic experience: This gym been in Brooklyn forever and growing up we used to train here. Now my son trains here too. Brooklyn has a gem with this place. Good people, over the years always had great trainers. You get the results of an art like boxing, martial arts through dedication and commitment. They are going to push you to be the best so with consistently it will match your results. Some legends came from this spot and trained here. I'm sure they will have many more legends come out of here in the near future.

Fantastic experience: Great gym hands down!! My son loves it!! Everyone is friendly and they care about their clients. You spend money to get the best training possible. So if anyone talks about money and it's expensive, then they need to go elsewhere!!!!!! You learn from the best at this gym!!

Fantastic experience: I have nothing but amazing things to say about Gleason’s boxing! We came here from Nebraska for my husband to have a private lesson and it was a great experience! I appreciated how welcoming they were and my husband and I still talk about the experience. I thought the cost for the gym and the private lesson were very affordable, considering what you got for your money! I would 100% recommend Gleason’s to anyone

Fantastic experience: It was a great day in my life to visit NYC and work out at Gleason's. As an older guy with a card from out of town I made friends there easily and had such a great morning. I was invited to hang around in the office. A privilege and an honor! If you believe in the sport and work like you mean it, as best as you can, it's a place that will love you back.

Fantastic experience: Went to visit here couple of years ago. From entering til i left i was made feel very welcome. I was allowed to walk about and take pics. There was training sessions ongoing and folk stopped to talk and ask where we were from. Great gym with great facilities. And defo not pretentious in any way. Will book a one to one next time im there to say ive done it at the world famous gym

Fantastic experience: When you enter the gym they make u feel welcomed! I took my 13 yr old daughter to train with Ronica! Shout outs to Ronnie! lol She took her time and made my daughter feel very comfortable. They have lots of equipment for you to utilize if you wanna box or just stay fit/ change rooms, showers, even a mini store! this was a great experience! Thanks again Ronnie!

Fantastic experience: Was here to watch my boxing coaches compete in the Master's tournament and was happy that Gleason's offers the option to work out for a day for people who aren't members. Clean facility, bigger than I expected with lots of equipment. Everyone was friendly and helpful and the memorabilia and art on the walls was interesting to see.

Fantastic experience: The staff here is absolutely awesome. Its amazing how friendly they are.... Brooklyn gets a bad rap but they are doing their share to change ur mind. Its was wonderful to be able to visit such a world renowned gym, of so many great ones. And it was free to enter n walk around. Plus, we got to meet famous trainer Hector Roca.... "Million Dollar Baby"..... he showed us around n talked with us about some of the great ones.

Fantastic experience: Very great staff. And it was awesome to meet Hector Roca who kindly showed me around. Gave me a great history lesson on some of the greats that practiced there, and the movie stars that trained out of there. That was very exciting. Really great experience.

Fantastic experience: Box with the pros! Gleason's is one of the only authentic New York boxing gyms. Although they might look intimidating, the staff is super friendly. I train with Neuky. He is amazing.

Fantastic experience: This boxing gym has vintage atmosphere and Muhammed Ali used to train there. They have famous trainers one of them trained Hillary Swank from "Million Dollar Baby". and she thank Hector Roca and everybody in Gleason's on oscars when she won the best actress in 2005. They have some nice matches around summer time under the Manhattan Bridge by Water st.
