Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Phil, the entire coaching staff, and the community at SOTA Fitness! The coaches are knowledgeable and explain techniques and movements clearly with modifications for injuries or ability levels. The workouts are diverse, challenging, and vigorous, but the coaches add their own unique elements of fun and the community is extremely supportive :). I have felt stronger and more confident after each class. Thank you SOTA Fitness!
Fantastic experience: Can't recommend Phil and the rest of the coaches enough. They have been fantastic! I came in with some knee pain after a recent surgery. All of the coaches were great in modifying workouts around my knee until I was able to strengthen it. The workouts are always new and challenging, which keeps me motivated. Thanks all!
Fantastic experience: Sota Fitness has incredible trainers! They are top notch! If you are looking for a challenging workout with a fantastic community, give Sota Fitness a try. They will encourage you, coach you, and push you when you need pushing.
Fantastic experience: The instructors at SOTA fitness are so friendly and knowledgeable. The instructors are there to help make accommodations (I had a stress fracture in my foot from running) to ensure the workouts are still very challenging. After working out 3 times a week there for a few weeks, I noticed my body recovered more quickly from each workout and I wasn't overtly sore afterwards which was very encouraging. Thank you so much to Phil and the SOTA team! I will absolutely be back.
Fantastic experience: I just started at SOTA about a month ago and I’m hooked! The workouts are tough but Phil and his coaches make modifications for what level of fitness people may be at. There is a good mix of men and women and i have never felt intimidated by the instructors or others working out. It is an intimate setting and the instructors always greet you by name which is always welcoming. I have never been an early riser and have never been motivated to get up and workout at a big box gym no matter how much I wanted to. I am now getting up 3 or 4 mornings a week for 6 am classes and starting to see a difference on the scale!
Fantastic experience: Sota is the perfect sized, local gym. The class sizes for the group fitness are always a good amount for the space, and the coaches are helpful, fun, and chill. Their setup for arm days, leg days, and total body are really well procured, so you can actually hit all three without repeating if you don't want to. The owner (Phil) is a really nice, innovative, and inspiring guy - he and the team are very adaptive to member wants/needs and have great setups in place to get people started on their (sustainable) journey to better health. Fantastic experience: I arrived at SOTA Fitness worried that my age and training level would not be a very good match for a private training gym, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. After an extensive, free assessment Phil was able to tailor each and every workout to my needs and level so that I could make incremental but tangible progress every time. Phil and Derek are both unfailingly encouraging throughout every session. I strongly recommend SOTA Fitness to anyone looking to improve their current level of fitness, at whatever point they start.

Fantastic experience: I can't say enough good things about the trainers at SOTA Fitness. They are nice, professional, and experts at helping people train in a way that helps them meet their personal goals. I had a bad rotator cuff injury when I first started training at SOTA. They were able to tailor my workouts so that there wouldn't be too much stress on my shoulder, but at the same time, strengthen the muscles around it to help it heal. Since then, I've made a full recovery and am now setting new personal bests!
Fantastic experience: Love working out at SOTA Fitness! They are professional, kind, fun, and know what they're doing! They have all the right equipment and are diverse wtih their workouts. If you're looking for good 1:1 training, this is the place to go!
Fantastic experience: So glad my sister introduced me to SOTA. I never thought I would enjoy a group fitness class, but I find it keeps me accountable and motivated. I also very much enjoy that the classes are under an hour and pretty small. I’ve consistently burned over 450 calories per workout and each pushes me to my limits.

Fantastic experience: SOTA Fitness is FANTASTIC! The community is welcoming, the coaches are personable, and the workouts are truly FUNctional. Every class is different and engaging from start to finish. The coaches provide scaling options for movements so you can adapt the workout to your fitness level and comfort. However, they’ll also encourage you to push yourself and find new limits. You’ll begin to feel stronger in no time! If you’re thinking about trying SOTA, I would HIGHLY recommend!
Fantastic experience: I have upper arm impingement. Each time I’ve worked out during my 6 week challenge, the instructors have been by my side monitoring my movements, making sure I am using proper form, making adjustments where necessary so I do y add any more stress to that area. I’m so thankful I can complete my workout and feel strong!! Thanks for today Phil!!!

Fantastic experience: SOTA fitness has been amazing to help my sister and I get into a great weight lifting routine and building foundational strength. We loved all the trainers we worked with and I would recommend them all! They did a great job of making sure we improved each week while also challenging us to step outside our comfort zone. Fantastic experience: I appreciate the staff's flexibility/ability to avoid areas that are sore. They easily adjust my workout on the spot as needed and yet I am always challenged enough. I am particularly happy that each week I feel the progress I am making in my posture. I used to suffer with head/neck pain daily but that is so rare now despite my career. They have helped me more than going to a physical therapist did. I have worked with several of the trainers and they keep record/communicate my strength/abilities efficiently every time. I also really appreciate how encouraging and professional they are. I never liked exercising in a gym atmosphere in past but I feel very comfortable at Sota.
Fantastic experience: I’ve been training here for over two years now. Phil and his team operate the best gym in the state. The gym is always clean, the equipment is high end and the trainers are creative with their workouts and you can push yourself as much as needed. The workouts are so much fun, and so rewarding. If I could give them 6 stars out of 5 I would. This place will change your life in so many positive ways.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to SOTA for almost a year. I started with a six-week challenge. It was a great way to get started and get to know the gym, trainers, and regulars. When I started I hadn’t done more than walks for over a year. I was out of shape and having a hard time getting into healthy routines. I love the group classes and look forward to them. I’ve never felt out of place at SOTA.

Fantastic experience: I am a 20+ year experienced personal trainer. After a conversation with Phil (the owner), and a tour of his neat and orderly facility, I can confidently recommend this gym. Phil knows what he is talking about and makes sure to hire trainers who do as well!
Fantastic experience: Had a great time at my workout last weekend! Phil is very attentive even in a full class, he is continually walking around and checking in to make sure you're using the correct weights and doing the correct movement to prevent injury. If you are looking for some accountability and someone to help push your health and fitness journey this is a great option for all skill levels.

Fantastic experience: Before even moving to MN, I'd done my homework to find a gym that was like the one I had come to love in Philly - small, personal setting with high intensity workouts with a good range of classes/ times. With SOTA, I found that & more. Phil & all of the trainers have created an environment that is fun, challenging, supportive and, above all else, really feels like a community. I've been coming to SOTA for close to 3 years now, as both a personal training client & a class attendee, and I can confidently say that it has totally changed my relationship with exercise. SOTA has become the cornerstone to both my physical & mental health, particularly now that I primarily work from home & have a more sedentary work day. SOTA is the absolute best - I cannot recommend them enough!
Fantastic experience: I've been doing #HIIT classes at #SotaFitness with Phil and team for 4 years now. I love the variety and intensity. I especially appreciate their attention to details to avoid any unnecessary injuries. Sota trainers carefully monitoring your technique; they are excellent at pushing you to next level. Phil has created a great community at Sota. He plans fun social and #fitness events outside of the studio and the clientele is very friendly. Many of us became Sota Fitness friends. They also welcome newbies to the gym with open arms. The studio celebrates your victories and is a huge cheerleader of your personal fitness goals. The other AWESOME thing to know about Phil is that he raises money for #charity by committing proceeds from his classes - Impressive! I highly recommend Sota as group & personal fitness trainers. The studio is large, clean, homie, well equipped and sensitive to #Covid protocols.
Fantastic experience: My coach, Ben, is invested in my health and knows just how hard to push me. He is a great listener who is positive and encouraging. The rest of the staff is great as well, they are friendly and greet me personally by name when I come in to workout. SotaFit has such a range of clients it isn’t intimidating to go in and get the best workout for me.
Fantastic experience: I've been working out at SOTA Fitness with Phil who is helping me get back on track both physically and from a nutrition perspective. Phil is great at working through injuries and making your workouts challenging. He's also a great motivator! I need extra motivation ;-) a lot! I would highly recommend SOTA Fitness to individuals of any age and at any fitness level seeking a supportive environment, knowledgeable trainers and great group class offerings!

Fantastic experience: Sota's staff that I've met - Phil, Kira, and Shelby - have all been extremely welcoming, inviting, and friendly. And they will make you work during their classes. The gym is a great facility and the equipment is in superb condition. I really enjoy the classes here. I'd recommend this gym to anyone, especially those that prefer tabata/HIIT style class environments for their workouts.
Fantastic experience: Just started the program, but I like the level of accountability Sota offers with MyFitnessPal, emails, and texts. I also like the efficient workouts, nutrition help, and recovery help. They care about the whole process not just the workouts. :) Update: Judgement Free Zone! Each trainer is positive and motivating without adding too much pressure; they encourage safety and proper form above all else. They are very knowledgeable on how different exercises/movements operate for different body types, and adjust the workouts accordingly. These aspects have made our experience excellent. We have learned a lot, not hurt ourselves, and grown in strength. We love SOTA! Update: Absolutely every trainer is friendly, non-judgmental, and relational. We have been at Sota for over a year and worked with 4 trainers throughout that time. Each was a different experience and style, each offered different challenges, but we have never felt uncomfortable. We have definitely grown in strength and endurance, we've been sore, we've been pushed to work hard, but never judged or pressured.
Fantastic experience: Positive: Communication , Professionalism , Quality I have been to well over 50 different gyms/classes/studios around the Twin Cities and Sota Fitness is one of the best/hardest HIIT classes I've taken. Coaches are super welcoming and do a great job pushing you. Always walk out sweating and feeling great!

Fantastic experience: My first time at SOTA Fitness was for a Saturday Total Body Strength class with Elliot, and it was so great! The studio vibe was very welcoming, and the class flew by because you are constantly moving and switching it up. If you are reading reviews trying to decide if you should check this place out, DO IT. I cannot wait to go back!
Fantastic experience: Phil and the team and SOTA run the most high quality comprehensive training facility I have seen in my many years as an athlete. Yes they understand strength training, but it’s the extra that sets them apart. I also learned about diet, weight loss, aerobic gains and motivation, all the while it was a positive environment that made me feel both supported and like you belong there. It’s a unique place, and it is worth the price.
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Sota Fitness if you are looking to really get fit and make changes in your lifestyle. What I love about Sota Fitness is their programmatic approach to your fitness. Their attention is not just focused on you on the day you show up to do your workout. They give attention to your nutrition, recovery, and lifestyle changes you can make outside of the gym too. I have been working primarily with Phil doing one-on-one training; but all of there trainers are outstanding professionals! Not only have I lost significant weight, but also I am stronger than I have been in 10-15 years. Give them a call and get fit!
Fantastic experience: SOTA is a great gym. I've been going for 5 months now and it's more than just a gym or a workout. The trainers are knowledgeable, helpful, patient, willing to educate (especially for someone with little athletic experience like myself), and love what they do. The people you work out with are friendly and include individuals from all fitness levels. The results? They speak for themselves. If you're looking for a way to integrate working out and having a healthy mindset into your lifestyle, or seriously interested in creating positive new habits, this is the place to do so. It's what I was looking for, and it is exactly what I found (and more).

He has a good combination of kindness and motivation, pushing us just enough as we need to. And I love how much he cares about nutrition and teaching that alongside fitness. So important!
Fantastic experience: SOTA Fitness is a great place to get a robust workout. Phil leads the HIIT classes in a way that makes everyone feel they can increase their level of fitness. He works with folks on proper form and cheers everyone on. I have felt welcome by Phil and the group since the first day.
Fantastic experience: Sota fitness by far has been my favorite gym. The classes are well structured and the people who go become like a second family. Phil is a phenomenal trainer with great workouts for personal training and HIIT classes. Nutrition is a huge aspect of a healthy lifestyle and Phil really helps educate you on foods and structure to your meals. Working out in public was never ideal for me but I felt so welcome every time I came to a class or personal training session. Sota fitness also has an extremely clean gym which some facilities lack on.Hands down Sota fitness has my vote for best gym in MN.
Fantastic experience: Phil is hands down the best trainer I've ever worked with! His one-on-one sessions and HIIT Fusion classes are challenging, fun, and always leave me feeling accomplished and motivated to continue pushing to and beyond my limits. Phil has a clear passion and wealth of knowledge for fitness and nutrition, and will go the extra mile to motivate and help his clients achieve their goals. I have a demanding work schedule with frequent travel, and Phil has been great in offering flexible session times and nutrition tips catered specifically to my situation. Thanks Phil! :)
Fantastic experience: Phil does a great job of mixing it up and tailors the workouts to me based on my strengths and weaknesses as well as my own goals. I like that I can do one-on-one training and also do the classes - it's a great way to be able to pick and choose your workouts to fit within a busy week. He's a very knowledgeable trainer, a nice guy and I'm happy with the results I'm getting from working out with him.
