Bay Club Redondo Beach: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Equipment is nice, multiple different areas to work out, my favorite being the downstairs room (It's usually nice and quiet off of busy days). They also have a nice little boxing studio, and every room I've seen has some sort of speaker system that you can control yourself. Been going here for almost a year and It's improved a bit since then and I hear Bay Club is prepped to do some overhauls.
Fantastic experience: Tons of small private rooms makes this place feel large and explorable while trying new things. Gorgeous 2nd story glass rooms overlooking the Redondo boat harbor make morning noon or afternoons totally picturesque. Towels are everywhere and the place is meticulously maintained. Wooden lockers feel like a country club. The gym is rarely full and I've never seen any hard core ROID'd out duders. Plenty of cute gurls of all ages :) My favorite gym in SoCal under 100 bux. I totally forgot the outdoor turf field it's got everything from football training gear, cross gear, a basketball hoop, plus way more. The level 3 trainer Nick got me dialed in and now I'm a regular! Btw most of the old bad reviews are old.. This place rocks now :)
Positive experience: Over promises and under-delivers. Management is hyping the place as "a country club like atmosphere". It's a gym... Nice staff and great views. Friendly laid back environment.
Positive experience: Really tough time quitting the club.
Positive experience: EDITED: The original review is true; however, Tony Allègre who I believe is from the ES/MB South Bay location reached out to me and was able to communicate what went wrong and took full responsibility. That went a long way with me and everything has been resolved. I’m not sure I’d be comfortable joining Redondo Beach again because of their inability to effectively communicate with me throughout this situation, but I would still be open to the South Bay location where I had been prior to moving. SB is a much nicer facility with great flow, culture, and dining — and, I don’t think this issue would have been resolved if they didn’t get involved. This has been an absolute horrible experience. Redondo staff and trainers are poorly trained and management has been nothing but dishonest. I was previously with Bay Club El Segundo and Howard Hughes for years and the best experience. Redondo has been a wildly different experience. I bought a training package and hired a personal trainer (Joe) to help get me back to where I was before an injury. I was told that injury was his thing. He came unprepared to our second session and had me do exercises that were very inappropriate and I immediately reinjured. I initially thought that I would heal quickly and planned to switch trainers. I did not heal and ultimately requested a refund and put my membership on hold as the injury was appearing to be somewhat serious. I was told that the refund just needed approval and so I waited. Then I start seeing monthly charges on my bank card. I contact the training manager and Diana the general manager. She says that she will refund the charges. It has now been months and I still have not received a refund for the training package or the monthly charges after I received after putting my membership on hold. I have filed a dispute with my bank and it looks like this matter will be resolved through my bank. I have found this club to be extremely dishonest and my experience with them has been incredibly stressful.
Fantastic experience: Been a BayClub member for over 20 years when it used to be the Spectum club. I appreciate the large outdoors workout areas. Nice pool and jacuzzi. The locker rooms are dated and older. But they keep it clean. The location can NOT be beat. Parking is free for members but you need to get a sticker pass from the front desk.
Fantastic experience: Juice!! Love this place you get to get fit and relax/zen out! Def recommend for your wellness and physical aspirations!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic spot to workout and take in the beautiful scenery. Especially grateful for the large layout and amenities. Staff is pleasant and helpful. On another note, if you're a spoiled teenager or an old white guy that enjoys complaining or talking about yourself ad nauseum then you've found your home.
Positive experience: Lovely and relaxing setting, even if you didn't take part in any physical activity.
Fantastic experience: Best and cleanest fitness center in the south bay. Worth every penny. Knowledge staff. Friendly atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor. Crystal clear luxury pool. And more
Fantastic experience: Gorgeous facility, great pool and staff
Positive experience: EDIT: Updating my review after speaking with one of the managers about the re-racking issue. Sounds like they're taking steps to address the issue, but might take a while, so just be aware if you choose to join. Original review: A majority of people here never rerack their weights, so enjoy spending half your workout trying to figure out if a machine is open and then re-racking other people’s weights just to even use a machine. And don’t forget you’ll be running around the gym trying to find misplaced weights and plates since people just leave them everywhere. Front desk staff also doesn’t bother with greetings most of the time. You’ll be ignored when entering and leaving. The price is outrageous for having to deal with apathetic staff and rude and inconsiderate people who have no gym etiquette.
Fantastic experience: Lovely staff, love the Aqua Aerobics, audio on tread mills need some repair.
Positive experience: Went to this club years ago when it was in its hay day it was called the spectrum club. It has always been expensive and never really offered much and the reason being is back in the day it was the gym for the LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS so the price kept so called ( nobody’s ) out ♀️ and the reason I know so much about this club because I as a former 1996 CLIPPER GIRL spent a lot of time there! Boy those was the days and they where some good ones!!!☺️
Positive experience: Outdoor space is amazing with views of the marina and generally great weather. The indoor space is bizantine and set up like a multi-level maze.
Positive experience: To be honest the price isn’t worth it, just paying for the location. All equipment and equipment rooms are very compacted together making it annoying to get a workout in. The machines aren’t even checked regularly because some machines are loose ( leg extensions ) and no maintenance on the machines either . Everything looks torn down with the remodel as well. I’ve been going here for 7 years as well.
Fantastic experience: Clean up the men's Steem Sauna with a power wash each night as Regular Maintenance & Cleaning.
Fantastic experience: Positive: Quality First and foremost I like how this place hires professional and civilized staff that don't treat this place like some kind of zoo. Another good quality this gym has is the classy patrons that want their gym to be well kept and have a nice atmosphere, I can't say the same for some of the gyms that offer memberships for $20-30.
Fantastic experience: تعاملهم راقي زرتهم من خمس سنوات
Fantastic experience: The outdoor strength training area is legit
Fantastic experience: Positive: Communication , Professionalism , Quality I really like the staff, the members, and the facility. I highly recommend it to others.
Fantastic experience: This place is great! I purchased a teenager membership for my 18 year old daughter and she loves it! She stays in great shape and associates with nice classy people there, unlike the lower class places that cost $20-$30 a month and enroll all types of misfits. This lovely place obviously, is not for the likes of someone like Queen SusanP
Fantastic experience: Open during the pandemic with an outdoor weight area. It's not everything but enough to do something rather than sitting at home on the coach.
Fantastic experience: A few weeks ago my gym shut down and Tony from the club was very accommodating. I just wanted a place to workout for three days and he made it happen. The outdoor facility is perfect. They have a few nice racks of weights, kettle bells, benches, and an abundance of machines (including cardio). I would definitely recommend anyone to join this club.
Positive experience: Great location. Please keep coffee out all day! PS: Mold is back in showers and at bathing suit dryer. I mentioned this a few months ago to front desk...
Fantastic experience: Been going here for 20+ years now and Bayclub continues to impress and do everything they can for their members even during this time of Covid-19. They have done a great job adapting the setup at the location I visit in Redondo Beach moving thr inside out out under the states current requirements allowing us to still workout. I actually really like this setup and hope they retain some of the outdoor setup they have even lost Corona. There are out door tented areas for each person to work out in that are over 6+ feet apart with everyone practicing social distancing while also wearing their masks. Sanitization stations are prevalent with paper towels and plenty of cleaning materials to spray down equipment plus signs you hang for the Bay Club staff to give the equipment one final cleanse before the next member uses it. To be honest this makes me feel really good in that Bayclub is looking out for everyone's healthy and safety while also giving us the opportunity to stay fit. THANK YOU BAYCLUB! A+++
Positive experience: For $700 initiation and $130 a month you’d expect paradise. 24 hour is less than $40 and has all the same stuff, more of it, and more updated, also super friendly staff at 24.The machines are kind of randomly placed and there’s not enough room or equipment in the weight room. Always crowded in there. Treadmills are great though. Pool has been under construction for months. Only thing that’s gives this gym an edge for me is having a boxing room. Love that. Otherwise it’s pretty subpar. And for the price? VERY subpar. Cool view but only when you’re running..who really cares. Also there’s one girl that’s super nice and helpful, every other staff member completely ignores you when you walk in or is rude.
Fantastic experience: I have been a Bay club member for more than a decade now. The club in King harbor is a great atmosphere. Friendly staff and great members. It's very clean!
Fantastic experience: Clean, well run and not too busy mid day. This gym has been outfitted with new equipment and so far I'm pleased with the staff and the overall vibe. Daniel is a great guy to speak with about the club. Can't beat the location!
Fantastic experience: This gym is by far the best value for the money of anything I spend money on.
Positive experience: -run out of fresh towels in men's locker room too often -towel pickup not regular enough as they pile up -water temp in men's showers change frequently...almost scalded on more than one occasion -today the club ran out of coffee cup lids....attendant just shrugged. -2nd class facility but first class prices
