West Shore Branch YMCA

Fantastic experience: I used to belong to Gold's Gym and planet fitness. I recently became married and my husband belonged to the YMCA and told me that he would like to give up my membership and join with him. It was the best move I made. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Dorothy (front desk) gave my husband and I a tour. She explained the classes, the childcare, the pool etc. I can do everything I did at Gold's and planet plus more at no additional cost and all in one place. My family have decided that we would make this our recreational time as well as fitness. We are u to matey pleased. They even have a wet and a dry sauna, hot tub and pool. Sold!

Fantastic experience: Used to love this y. Rn both pools are down! It's crazy!!! Hours are super limited too. Would like to see more effective use of staffing, especially considering the pools are down! Staff is super friendly! What's the y without a pool? Pool a is far too cold!!!! You would think they would at least try to balance the temperature!

Fantastic experience: Always such friendly staff! My family and I love our local YMCA. From working out at the gym to dipping in the pool and the child watch room for a safe and fun place for your little kiddos to be while you work out!

Fantastic experience: Amazing staff... very good place

Positive experience: They have two pools but the availability for rec swim is limited. One pool is used for lane swimmers and the other the swim team. If you're able to make it at 4pm maybe you and you child can swim but other than that you have to wait until Friday or some time over the weekend. Not so family convenient.

Positive experience: U friendly staff. Tje facility is dirty as a club style gym. Dirt all over machines, treadmill belts loose. No monitoring of sanitation, And with covis regulations that's a huge nono. And they are really expensive considering the hours of other local gyms. This is supposed to be community facility let us not forget the purpose of our creation.

Fantastic experience: They have two weight rooms, three pools and a nice gym for basketball every evening and around lunch time too.

Fantastic experience: We love the West Shore Y. The staff are kind and courteous and we have not had any issues since joining.

Fantastic experience: I love coming here. It costs $40 for a one month membership and $67 for a pair or a family. The facility is clean, there is plenty of space, the classes are fun, and the they have 2 pools.

Fantastic experience: We joined the Y so my autistic son has some activities to do during the winter months. I love the water park, it's perfect for all of my kids (ages 12, 10, 3 and 2 months).

Fantastic experience: Love this place for child care. We used the kids in motion for kindergarten this past year. The daily classes were structured so they fell inline with what the kids were learning in school. It was impressive to see how much they learned over the year. If your looking for childcare during the school year for your kindergartner, choose the Y's KIM program!

Fantastic experience: I love this gym! Everyone is friendly and I've never been made fun of for not knowing how some of the machines work lol. Lots of great equipment from stationary bikes to treadmills to more heavy lifting weight machines. The classes are fun too!

Fantastic experience: I love the West Shore Y! You can volunteer for 4 hours as a tour guide and you get a free membership. They have a babysitting room where you can leave your children while you workout. You can also volunteer in their Child watch area (babysitting room) for a free membership, which is fantastic. The pools and waterplay areas are really nice. They also have a good variety of workout and relaxation classes. I wish their Tai Chi classes were a different time so that I could attend.

Fantastic experience: I love this gym, Staff are friendly. They just got a bunch of new work out equipment. Adult pools on the chilly side but children's pool area is nice a appropriately warm.

Fantastic experience: A friendly place to get a workout. Highlights are the availability for child care, the pool, and the cardio equipment selection. Has an indoor track, and a couple of basketball courts as well. Free weight selection is modest, but is sufficient. Some new equipment and some dated equipment mixed throughout the facility. Prices are a little higher than some of the other local franchise gyms, but still a great place to workout.

Fantastic experience: It's a clean nice place. They have 3 different pool. Big clean workout rooms. So provide a lot of different classes. They provide financial aid for memberships and the classes. There are classes for adult and for children. They classes in the pool for arthritis.

Fantastic experience: Go there 5 days to walk the track, have met some really nice people. Clean, little breezy on the track. So take a sweat shirt.

Fantastic experience: Friendly gym with pools. I take my 16 year old daughter there and work out. I take my 8 year old son there to swim in the kids pool and he loves it. Staff is friendly too.

Fantastic experience: Friendly knowledgeable staff that are gracious with their time to explain things to new members. The locker rooms, showers, and bathrooms are all kept clean and tidy. Nice pool with good water programs and generous free swimming hours. There are lots of programs/classes to choose from each day. A really great place to focus on health.

Fantastic experience: My children have been enrolled in the YMCA childcare programs for a total of 24 years. Not once have I had a problem. They help to instill proper values and I hold the staff and administration in high regard.

Fantastic experience: This is the greatest YMCA. The one in Harrisburg is run down and the one on the West Shore is very nice looking. Outside and inside. Very clean and staff are wonderful.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful place to go for the whole family! To comment on the pool access, my family and I swim there almost every weekend and there is always open swimming at pool A with sufficient space for those who want to play or swim laps. The kids adore the waterpark area. The down side is that the hours have changed for the waterpark, they're now 9am-12pm and 5pm-7pm. All in all though a sufficient amout of play time is available!

Fantastic experience: This is the best Y I've ever been to. The equipment selection is astounding. They have all kinds of things I've never even seen before. It's very spacious and even when it's very busy there's tons of room and equipment to go around that you're not waiting for no reason. I travel frequently for work so I've been to nearly a dozen Y's in the past several years. This one is exceptionally a cut above.

Fantastic experience: Not great shower facilities and no sauna/steam room/jacuzzi but it has everything you need to get in shape and stay healthy. The employees are super friendly and knowledgeable
