Equinox West 50th Street: Opinions
Positive experience: Rude people that work there. They think they are fitness Gods. I don't want to be disturbed during my workout to hear about this months personal training package specials !!
Positive experience: We love the classes at this location, mainly spin and 30/60/90.
Fantastic experience: Definitely idealistic made for those ambitious & looking to maintain fit. Great ambiance and services for a gym & health fitness center. Gotta love it!
Positive experience: This is a pretty solid equinox. It's not as luxurious as the other equinoxes but it does the job and has everything you'd need- lots of free weights, benches, squat racks, cardio equipment, etc. This location has the t bench for dumbbell tricep extensions and the foot rest for single leg split squats which none of the Lifetime's have, so I appreciate that a lot. The cardio equipment definitely needs an update. The stair masters look like they were built in the 1950's... Overall, it's a very dependable gym. Great location right in midtown.
Fantastic experience: Great after-work location. Not too busy
Positive experience: Good club. Smallish locker room. Despite mostly being underground, it's well lit and has good air circulation.
Positive experience: Equipment is really good and clean, it's a real pleasure to come working at there. There is a first free session with a personal coach which is useful if you have any question. The price of the membership is too expensive though for what you get though right now as there are no more group class. I would estimate the price at around $100/month vs the $190/month as long as group class aren't available. (Note : good thing they are offering 1month + if you get referred you get $100 gift card )
Positive experience: It's 36.50 USD for a day pass
Positive experience: I hold the membership at Equinox West 50th street for 5 months. It provides fair service. But this site is slightly over crowded during the first few days of every week. And some popular classes are not easy to book.
Positive experience: Small gym but got 3 squat racks and 2 bench presses so overall decent. Don’t have a foam roller with spikes which is indeed a shortcoming. Gym is on 2 levels. Not too busy evenings after 8 pm.
Positive experience: Ok, so as a disclaimer, I'm posting these reviews for my reference. I have an All Access Membership, and I want to visit as many of these as I can, to see which one I like most/would like to go to. My interests are powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, swimming, so my reviews will be geared towards that. For comparison's sake, I have been to the following so far: Equinox West 92nd Equinox West 76th Equinox Highline Equinox East 63rd Equinox Columbus Circle Equinox Park Avenue Equinox Flatiron Equinox Gramercy Equinox Tribeca Fairly small, the entrance is impressive, has a lot of space, but I feel like they could have used it better. There is one floor for lifting, it is narrow but long. Fairly well spread out. It was okay. Out of 10: Size: 5 Luxury: 5 Equipment: 7
Fantastic experience: You get what you pay for... The nicest club in the area. Great Equipment and clan. The other clubs in the area like NYSC and Crunch are a dump. All the trainers are nice except for the weird Asian ones and the black one.
Fantastic experience: A bit on the small side, but otherwise nice.
Positive experience: One of the small Equinox gyms in the city. I believe this location used to be a New York Sports Club. I went around 7:30PM and the crowd was disappearing from the after work rush. Was able to get a good workout in. Probably would not recommend during busy times.
Positive experience: One of the smaller equinoxes in the city
Positive experience: New machines (2016), friendly service, two levels - 1 for cardio and 1 for all exercises.
Positive experience: Its important to invest in one's health and mental well being.
Positive experience: Very clean and modern facility. The place is a little small for the volume of people who actually use the gym so it can feel a bit cramped at times
Fantastic experience: Great location. Nice gym. Prefer the other locations though.
Positive experience: Visited for a cycle for survival event held at this space which went well. The locker and shower facilities are very modern and exceptionally clean. The gym space is nice but a little small and very open so you'll be in front of everyone. The staff was nice but very amped up. The event itself was well organized.
