SrA Bryan Bell Fitness Center: Opinions
Positive experience: Really hot where the weight machines are at.
Fantastic experience: The staff is great. They offer lots of activities.
Positive experience: Aging equipment, doing their best maybe to repair a lot of the weight equipment. Now that the weight lifting area is out of the basketball court it feels pretty cramped. But it is what it is. Still gets the job done. Show up at 7pm and you'll be able to do whatever you walked in to do.
Positive experience: For this being the AFGSC command HQ... that gym is in need of a HUGE face lift. None of it makes sense inside. The field outside is noce, but wowsers.. 8 AF and A MAJCOM HQ... you'd never know.
Fantastic experience: Typical AF gym. Everything you need for a great workout and it’s kept very clean.
Negative experience: More than half of the showers don’t work or are leaking really bad. Sometimes half the sinks are filled with water and won’t drain. Sometimes the toilets are flooded or won’t flush. One of the basketball courts had to be converted to a weight room because there’s not a lot of room. Overall this facility really needs an overhaul
Positive experience: Machines need attention.
Positive experience: Half of their cardio machines are broken, and they also give you a time limit on the cardio machines. It's always busy with limited equipment, so there is a high chance you'll have to wait for a machine to become open. Edit: I'm adding a star because they recently fixed the cardio machines so a lot of them work now! There is still a time limit for the cardio machines. It's still pretty busy but that's expected at a military gym.
Positive experience: A great place to work out.
Fantastic experience: Very nice and clean! They do have a small area for your children to play in! But you do have to watch your children. They can’t be left unattended. I have a 9 month old and I bring her in her stroller and she just hangs out in her stroller while I get a little work out in.
Negative experience: Run down, closes at 6. Decent equipment, but nothing is maintained, ripped pads, loose benches and pads, broken bicep, leg and cable machines, all the clips are loose and won't hold weight, missing belt for squat belt. Front doors to the building broken. Limited variety on equipment, no leg extension, or tricep machine while there's 4 bicep machines. Bathrooms gross. I'm here for a few days and it's not pleasant. Can't rent out a belt because they're hidden behind the counter, and they won't check it out after 6. Talk about a safety concern, I couldn't fly here with my belt, so I was hoping to use ones here. Nope, you hide them. You're the airforce, spend some on the gym instead of the golf course
Negative experience: Dirty. Most treadmills are broken. Ants all over the locker room.
Positive experience: I love going to this gym:) I wish there were more variety for kids to do, than the obstacle course like gym for the kids, while parents can watch child when working out I sometimes feel limited or I have limited options when I bring my child, but hey at least she can see me work out and I get to see her play. Oooh and music, there isn't no music playing, so y'all headphones it is;)
Negative experience: Possibly the most disgusting showers I've had the experience of using besides being deployed. Moldy tiles and no hot water in the showers the day I used it.
Fantastic experience: 내가 자주가는곳
Fantastic experience: Nice
Positive experience: Average but effective gym. They have all the gym equipment that you need for your fitness like free weights, cardio machines, and workout machines. A few of the cardio pieces were broken though.
Negative experience: Not a lot of care for their machines or equipment and the layout makes my scratch my head as to why they put equipment where they did. Also the basketball court has the weirdest floor. Not sure who made these decisions but wow.
Positive experience: Definitely upgraded since the last time I was here. They converted the old weight room into a spinning/multi-purpose room and turned one side of the basketball courts into a huge new weight lifting area. Some of the equipment was obviously transplanted from the old weight room and was showing signs of wear and tear, but nothing I saw was out of order. All in all, digging the updated space. The locker room was a hot mess, but I went late in the day, on a weekend, on Christmas Eve. To say it was a skeleton crew would be an overstatement. I think they only had one person working the whole place, so I'll give her some grace. I can't speak to how busy/crowded it normally is because, again, Christmas Eve. But I definitely wasn't alone, which makes me wonder how busy it might get on a weekday when most non-essential personnel aren't gone on leave.
Fantastic experience: Great place to workout. Equipment always available. Nice scenery and quiet atmosphere.
Negative experience: Sub par at best
Fantastic experience: Great place to work out. Love the indoor and outdoor track. The staff was very courteous. I would highly recommend this place to my family and friends.
Fantastic experience: Needed to get back in shape, A good place to start..
Fantastic experience: Great fitness center
Fantastic experience: Excellent staff and facility
Fantastic experience: The facility meets everyone of my physical fitness needs. I love how they have managed to incorporate covid guidance to maintain the safety of everyone that frequent the facility.
Fantastic experience: Real nice gym, very nice track and field.
Fantastic experience: It's a gym, you get out of it what you put in.
Fantastic experience: Good gym for military . Free
Fantastic experience: Great gym! Plenty of machines and never too busy.
Fantastic experience: The place is ready for me. Sra Bryan was great, pointed me in the right direction. Promote her.
Fantastic experience: It was great, as a Retired Marine, I was impressed
Fantastic experience: Beautiful football field and track also.
Positive experience: It's a great place to shower.
Positive experience: It's a great place to shower.
Fantastic experience: New Pelaton bikes are A1
Fantastic experience: Love the classes!
Negative experience: Lack of organization and lockers that are in bad shape. The AC hasn't worked in parts of the building in over a year.
Negative experience: Too small and not well maintained. Crowded. The only reason it is still in business is airmen are forced to use it.
Positive experience: Could be set up better as far as free weights. Only one cable machine ends up making folks have to wait in line. Also extremely loud in facility, sound deadening would go along way.
Negative experience: Okay. I'm on a road trip, dispersed camping scenario, aka boondocking. So I only went for the shower. Where to begin? I spent several minutes looking for the light switch, only to realize the lights are on, but all the bulbs were burnt out except one. There is no adequate drainage and the entire area was flooded to a greater or lesser extent. The vestibule before the actual shower had no drainage at all, so there was an inch of water. It was impossible to change clothes correctly and safely. It was a one-handle shower, which was not a shock, but there were no markings or they were faded. The water never actually got hot. It became more or less warm and quickly went downhill from there. By the time I figured out which way to turn the handle and how far, I had spent most of what little warm water there was figuring out the controls inductively. The shower didn't actually give you a shower - it was more like a broad spray of needles. I was sick for several days afterwards and I am pretty sure the Barksdale fitness Center is at least partly to blame. It was by far the worst excuse for a shower facility I have seen, military or civilian. And that is including two deployed locations in Southwest Asia, JET tasking army Field training etc. FOR SHAME BARKSDALE!!!
Fantastic experience: It’s always clean and there’s so many machines you can use! There’s a cardio room, weight room, basketball court, indoor track, ab room, and so much more! There’s always something to do if something is taken. There’s plenty of treadmill’s and and even some bikes where they hold cycling classes! I’ve seen yoga/Pilates classes as well. They have high powered fans if you’re running indoors and outdoors there’s a nice big track and a 100 yard field to play soccer or football! If you’ve got kids, there’s even a kids area! So many things to do and take advantage of here.
Fantastic experience: Great facility
Fantastic experience: Greats place to work out
Positive experience: On base gym, the biggest one available. Free to members (of course), and it has a lot available. The only problem with it is the PTL's regularly make people run indoors, and I don't know a single person who runs better upstairs. It's nice having a track inside when it's cold... but it literally adds time to EVERYONE's run time. So no thanks.
Positive experience: Busy as usual
Positive experience: Randolph gym is better
Positive experience: Nice track & field.
Positive experience: Great facility. No longer 24hrs for non-active duty
Positive experience: It's a base gym, decent place to workout.
Positive experience: They need to remodel the men's locker room and get a new sauna
Positive experience: I need to go more than once per week.
Fantastic experience: It’s always clean and there’s so many machines you can use! There’s a cardio room, weight room, basketball court, indoor track, ab room, and so much more! Negative experience: This place is dirty, noisy and small. Barksdale is a big base and needs a bigger, better gym. Go to Nelis AFB and see what a gym should be. Two stars due to it being free. Oh, WIFI had not been working last two times I went.
Positive experience: Nice equipment and good space. Only issues I would have to say I have with it is lack of cleaning wipes.
Fantastic experience: Nice turf field. Not many rowing machines. But overall a great gym. Good parking!
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Just wish they had a faster turn around rate with fixing gym equipment
Fantastic experience: Good gym for an airforce base. Never have any problems. Some machines need to be repaired but that happens every now and then.
Fantastic experience: Above average bade gym for troops.
Fantastic experience: Great place
Fantastic experience: great gym
Fantastic experience: . Great facilities
Fantastic experience: Lots of options for cardio- everything from tracks to bikes and elipticals, entire room just for abs, classes and programs available! basketball courts too
Positive experience: Love the classes!! They have spin, yoga, zumba, etc. The spaces are kinda spread out so it can feel intimidating to go from room to room. I love that there is space for moms to workout and their kids to play - ingenious (not childcare, just a kids play place /jungle gym.) some of the equipment is broken down /not working, but I enjoy working out there.
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Just wish they had a faster turn around rate with fixing gym equipment
Positive experience: Lots of different areas to choose from.
Positive experience: Staff sucks
Positive experience: Great space and hours. Locker rooms and showers need upgraded/cleaned.
Positive experience: Nice gym with plenty of stuff to do. Gets a bit crowded at times, but what gym doesn't
Fantastic experience: Lots of options for cardio- everything from tracks to bikes and elipticals, entire room just for abs, classes and programs available! basketball courts too
Positive experience: Great gym located on Barksdale Air Force Base
Negative experience: Overly packed. I’ve gone here 3 times all at different times of the day, noon, 3:30 and 6 pm... and every time it’s packed. Parking lot wasnt even adequate, people were parking down the road and walking to the gym. Inside the square footage is just not there. They have a section for cardio equipment which is great, but no diversity.... pretty much treadmills, elipticals and some spin bikes sprinkled throughout the gym. They’re free weights section is subpar. Think of a basketball court cut in half and some free weights and machines thrown in the area. Upstairs is a running track but nothing too special. The locker rooms are old, dated and not well maintained. Literally the only thing worth going here for is the outdoor track and AstroTurf. Oh, and there racquetball courts if you were born before 1980.
Positive experience: Always overly packed. The personnel behind the counter are usually more interested in their phones than doing their job.
Positive experience: Great selection of equipment. It's usually well maintained. The facility is clean. The front desk staff is friendly.
Positive experience: nice gym for an Air Base. the leg equipment is split up between 2 rooms so i dont like that. the other room is sometimes locked so you cant do leg extensions. basketball court needs to be redone. is very slippery. other than that, the weight area is nice. good indoor, small track upstairs (2 laps= 1/4 mile). seperate rooms dedicated for abs, childrens, cardio and cycling. also 3-4 racketball courts.
Fantastic experience: It gets pretty busy, but I love it
Fantastic experience: Lots of weights, plenty of room to workout, and separate rooms for semi privacy! Clean!!!
Fantastic experience:
Fantastic experience: Well equipped, clean and helpful staff
Fantastic experience: Can't wait for astroturf!
Fantastic experience: Best gym in the US Air Force... well, at least on Barksdale.
Fantastic experience: Always a good spot, the track is new...and there is a new turf field.
Fantastic experience: Clean facility
Positive experience: Love the staff, nice facility. Only wish we had better bath and shower maintenance. Indoor pool please!
Positive experience: Get in shape
Fantastic experience: Clean facility
Positive experience: Great equipment.
Positive experience: Generally good equipment and free weights, still disappointed no indoor pool and indoor track is poor.
Fantastic experience: Can't wait for astroturf!
Positive experience: We need another gym
Positive experience: Good climbing wall.
Positive experience: Pretty decent setup!
