Positive experience: The equipment is nice and the gym is not very busy. However, for a single month membership, they do not give you a key fob. So, you are stuck sitting outside waiting for someone to leave the gym to open the door for you. This makes me, and others, uncomfortable, and I had multiple people question my membership. If you sign up for a membership, you should get a fob to access the gym. This is not an issue with the recurring memberships. I think they have had an issue with people sharing fobs, but it doesn't make sense to punish new members for this.

Negative experience: On October 4th I canceled my membership to 828 Fit in Brevard, because the gym was always dirty and the machines were broken 1/2 the time. Plus the parking lot was always filled will kids not even working out at night. I was told that I would be charged for October but they would cancel the membership. I gave them my key fob and left. On Monday, November 7, 2022 I was charged for another month. And when I inquired about it was told my contract ran until November 16th, and I have to pay another month. So basically I’m paying for 2 months on a technicality. Because I did not want to continue to go to a gym I felt was not keeping up their end of the deal, and a place I honestly did not really feel safe at!!! Plus when I signed up I was told that I COULD cancel my membership, But had to give a 30 day notice. Which I did. Way to go 828 Fit. Enjoy your $60!! I actually did try to resolve this to no avail. And the fact that all you can do is act like nothing was wrong only proves my point. Maybe you all have made changes. But after your managers quit in July. It was like nobody was minding the store. Say what you want on here. Anyone who knows me, Knows I am not an unreasonable person, and always try to look for the best and give the benefit of the doubt. So for it to get to this point with me there was definitely something wrong. Reading your response below, still only proves my point. I love the fact that YOU are talking to me like you are the one who signed me up. You absolutely were not. I was never told about the cancellation other than if I was unhappy I could cancel. And yes I signed something on the IPad that day, but never received anything as a copy to keep or was anything emailed to me. This is really pointless since you all take Zero responsibility and have made what should have been a simple cancellation with an unhappy member into something this unpleasant. Your standard answers do not address my concerns. You say you have the cleanest gym, the machines are never broken. and I should have let you know. None of this was my experience. And I did try to let you know. And this again goes to my point that you all really do not know what’s going on at your own gym. Good luck with your gym going forward…

Hi Mr. Wright,
I am sorry to hear about your frustration in regards to the situation here at 828 Fit as we take every matter very seriously. In response to your first concern the facility has been known as one of the cleanest in the area and we do take pride in the cleanliness in the facility. If there was an area that was of concern we would have loved that to have been brought to our attention so it could have been addressed. In regards to the equipment we are unaware of any equipment that is broken or not working as it is serviced and maintained. Lastly, in regards to the kids in the parking lot we have notified people in authority to see if we can get that resolved.
In regards to the membership, yes you did sign an annual contract but then once the 12 months is up it will renew as a month to month there after unless the member calls to change that. The cancelation policies of the facility do state about the 30 day policy and processing. It was explained at the time you signed and turned your key fob in and every member also has signed and goes through the exact same process. Unfortunately, it is not something we change as we submit up the cancelation and then it will draft one more time and then the account will cancel itself out Just like the contract reads or it will not process and will continue to remain active.
Again, I am sorry that this was a problem and a concern for you but wished that this was something you would have spoken with us about to try and resolve any concerns you may have had. Since this is the first time we have had any of these concerns. As always you can always reach out to us and we will help you as much as we can to try and resolve anything we can...

Negative experience: I’ve recently had to change gyms due to the fact that I am a trans man and couldn’t comfortably use a bathroom at my old gym anymore (because the women would always mistake me for a man and freak out and the men didn’t consider me male enough to use theirs). I needed a fresh start so I decided to try out 828 because it seemed like it might be a more accepting/open minded environment. As I walked in, I recognized the guy behind the front desk from my old gym. Assuming I needed to give him an explanation for my physical changes, I hesitantly explained to him what my situation was. Now that I look back, I wish I never let him know I was trans because he didn’t recognize me anyway. He even greeted me with “what’s up man” when I walked in the door. Anyway, I did the free day pass thing and had an amazing workout. I was excited to have a fresh start and a new gym I could call home. When I went back to the front desk to sign up, he informed me that he called the gym owner(I have no clue why he felt he needed to do that), who is apparently super religious (big surprise there). The owner said I could workout there but I would have to use the bathroom of the gender I was assigned at birth. Meaning I’d have to use the women’s bathroom. Disappointed and humiliated, I gathered my things and left. If you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community, I would take my money to a gym you KNOW for a fact that they are LGBTQ+ friendly. I don’t like talking bad about businesses or giving low reviews but I owe it to my brothers and sisters out there that are in the same boat. Especially trans kids/teens. The gym is therapy for a lot of us. It’s medicinal, therapeutic, and helps us channel our emotions so we can just make it to tomorrow. It’s a place we should be able to go in safety. We just want to workout like everyone else and the PRIVILEGE of being able to use the damn bathroom.

Negative experience: Not a safe place for anyone that does not identify as cisgender. Management said my husband could only join if he agreed to use the women’s restroom.

Fantastic experience: This gym is a great place to unwind and have a good workout in an awesome atmosphere. Anna & Carlos go above and beyond to care for the clients needs. I would like to see me lockers in the restrooms & a water fountain to fill our water bottles with.

Fantastic experience: Awesome gym with perfect environment for working out. Friendly and helpful staff that goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. Just the right equipment for getting in shape and includes 24 hour access.

Fantastic experience: This place is awesome!! You'll need to stop by the gym for yourself to see how amazing it is. It's fun, clean, and inspiring all in one. The manager keeps the gym spotless while also training clients all day. Not only is the gym clean and fresh, but the atmosphere and vibe is so encouraging. Staff will go out of the way to be sure members are comfortable and ready for a good lift. The classes in the evenings are so much fun with an inspiring group of people wanting to better themselves. Also, the prices for the memberships are a steal when you see what's included. The 828 Fit members are truly a family and want to see each other achieve their fitness goals. Seriously, stop by this place as soon as you can...you won't regret it!!!

Fantastic experience: 828 Fit is by far the best gym in WNC. The staff is passionate and helpful to members. They accommodate and aim to please all of the members needs. They create an environment which is alluring to all kinds of gym goers. For first time gym goers they help you get through the butterflies of being in a gym and build you up to where you are confident in yourself. For seasoned gym goers they give you a perfect place to train with other experienced members and have specialized equipment you won’t see elsewhere. To the blind eye it might look like a gym, but once you step inside you become part of a family. I am extremely blessed to be a part of the 828 Fit family!

Negative experience: I've been charged multiple times after I've frozen my account and I'm still being charged even though my membership is over.

I am sorry you feel that way as we have done our best to work with you the best as we can. I know we had a computer issue when we did try to freeze your account while you were gone for the Christmas break. We did express our apologizes when you let us know what happened and we did not charge you for the month of February to make it right for the one month we were supposed to have frozen your account. It did charge one more month to fulfill your contract. If you have any questions please come by or give us a call and we would love to help in any way that we can... Thank you 828 FIT

Fantastic experience: To give an fresh review! Great gym, great equipment and a “box” room in the back. Always updating the equipment to ensure they have the newest offerings. The gym is clean, owner and staff are amazing. They offer classes and moving more into CrossFit training programs. Gym members are very friendly as well, no talkers, meatheads or “selfie junkies”. Folks are there to get it in and leave. You can’t go wrong with a membership here and it helped me up my game tremendously in power, speed and strength! Can’t say enough about 828 Fit...Hooyah!

Fantastic experience: This is one of the cleanest facilities I have ever worked out in. Also the equipment is top-notch and they keep it that way. They are very concerned about helping you achieve everything that you want to and give you any training or answer any questions along the way. Because of the owner and staff's sincere commitments towards all these things and giving back to the community it makes it the best place to go in town!

Fantastic experience: Never had motivation to stay at a gym until this gym opened up. Now I'm here every day. Hands down best gym in town. Brand New, clean equiptment and super friendly and motivational owners and staff as well. I love this gym!
