Negative experience: Over priced, over crowded, and meh cleanliness. Plus no parking validation. Only pro was convenience. Cardio machines constantly broken, machines constantly out of order.
Fantastic experience: Inventive and intuitive are adjectives that describe the quality of service Thomas brings to his customers. If I experience a pain or limitation in my body, Thomas creates an exercise that will make it possible to exercise without agitating the condition.
Fantastic experience: This gym is very complete and well-equipped, and everyone is extremely friendly. I had the chance to work with personal trainer Dennis Moreno and he was amazing, very kind, patient, and professional. He took the time to explain everything clearly and made me feel comfortable and confident. I really appreciate his support and would definitely recommend him!
Positive experience: It is very frustrating that this gym at least once or twice a week doesn't have any towels available. If I went to a gym with no towel service, I would bring one, but given that this one advertises its towel service, it should provide it. And none of the staff ever even seem to care how frustrating this is. It's always just "we don't have towels." No apology or even basic acknowledgement of the inconvenience.
Negative experience: Could not connect my heart rate monitor band or cardio app to erg trainer. Also couldn’t connect to nysc app
Fantastic experience: New York Sports Club is a solid gym, but the real gem here is my personal trainer, Dennis. He's awesome! If you're looking for a great trainer who will help you reach your fitness goals, Dennis is your guy.
Negative experience: It feels really bad when you go to the gym with a friend and gym staff say that your friend can't watch you workout and "train" you - and then repeatedly implies you're lying when you say you're with a friend and not a personal trainer. :(.

Negative experience: Sometimes I get ask to rate fitness group class leaders. Not today. If I had, I would have noted that the sub for my Thursday class was morbidly obese, which is not the best look for leading a spin class.
Negative experience: I have been a regular at this location for years and have never had any significant issues until about a month ago. However, today I had the worst experience I’ve ever had at any NYSC facility. While I was working out, Heather Tierney was extremely aggressive and unprofessional in asking me to leave the area for her class. Instead of simply asking if I was participating in the class, she assumed I wasn’t and began removing both my personal belongings and the equipment I was using. I am deeply disappointed by this treatment, as it does not reflect the standard of service I expect from NYSC employees. I recommend that the company provide further training for staff on respect, professionalism, and customer service.

Fantastic experience: Lots of machines which I prefer not to use but there are also lots of manual equipment. They also have bands if you ask at the desk. I love the big open spaces.

Negative experience: Please beware: this gym does not have a security camera monitoring the front desk (the only entrance/exit into the gym). On the evening of Tuesday, February 25th, at 10 PM, a man entered the gym just to use the shower, and then tried to physically attack and repeatedly threaten me in the locker room. It was an unprovoked attack by a man who I’ve never seen in my five years of using this gym. This man clearly was not a gym member and was behaving like a mad person — incoherent and raging, potentially intoxicated, and/or mentally incapacitated. I reported the incident to the police and asked for security footage from the gym. The gym’s management then told me that they don’t have any security cameras (not even ONE to monitor the only entrance). When I inquired further, they refused to indicate any plans to install any cameras, and they seemingly didn’t understand the importance of having one. For my safety, I canceled my membership right away after five years of using this gym in Columbia Heights and two years prior in Georgetown.

Negative experience: Today, I signed up at the gym and had a session with a trainer , myra Unfortunately, she was unpleasant and only offered to help me if I committed to training with her. I found her approach unprofessional and didn't appreciate the conditional support. I requested equipment guidance from the trainer. The trainer was overly aggressive in promoting her own class, discouraging me from starting with the initial introductory class.

Positive experience: This gym is conveniently located, has a variety of classes and everything I need to get my exercise done. The machines have seen better days many of them have pads that are ripped and spilling filling. A lot of the equipment could use a refresh or an upgrade. When a machine breaks it takes several weeks for them to be serviced and back in working order. I like the variety of classes but even when it’s not fully attended the classrooms can be kind of tight. I enjoy the access to a pool but you’re often sharing lanes because half the pool is occupied by swims lessons. This place gets the job done but has serious opportunity for improvement.

Fantastic experience: My personal trainer, Thomas, was excellent. He listened to my needs and was very patient and effective at the same time. The gym is spacious and during the time I went, it was not crowded. I feel like the machines and other amenities are very good. The manager, Ben, is very friendly and attentive. Overall, it has been a positive experience so far.

Fantastic experience: Not sure what the deal is with all the complaints about WSC. Recently subbed, I think it’s amazing so I’m glad I took a chance on it. 80 dollars but I’m walking distance so I never have to worry about parking or transportation. I realized with PF, if I metro there like 12x it’s not even worth it. 80 dollars is pretty pricey, but I’d say it’s about worth the cost. It’s not even much compared to other places when I was researching and trying around. I think it’s most comparable to one life, but slightly more premium experience. It’s definitely better than planet fitness. Not as great as equinox or vida admittedly, but I’m fine saving the extra 120 a month. Staff has been really friendly so far! There’s always some new class ready, and I never have to wait long for machines. For anyone struggling, I’d consider going early in the morning rather than after work for a quiet session. I know not everyone can do this, but it’s what works for me. Glad I took a chance on WSC, I’m really enjoying my experience so far.

Positive experience: I’ve been going to this location in Columbia Heights for about 2 full days. I had an interaction with Benjamin the trainer supervisor (I believe) who wanted me to get a personal trainer. Before the 2 full days, I went to view the space, and Benjamin was very nice to me at first. Then the 2 time for a little consultation talk through, still nice… I decided that I didn’t want it after really speaking with a friend of mine about it. As a dancer I do cardio all day long depending on the class, so speaking with someone outside of the gym, and getting feedback I said no to the personal trainer package. Now, the 2 full days I went, Tuesday, and Wednesday, it feels as if Benjamin is disappointed that I didn’t want a personal trainer because how his demeanor comes off when I walk into the space. The staff at the front desk can seem a little cold at first, but I think that’s just their hard exterior not knowing me! I’m hoping to get more understanding of them the more I go. It’s a great gym and it’s 1 full block away from my job, so I thought the convenience was just what I needed to stay in good shape for myself. Hoping to see a little happiness in the staff going there more, just to feel welcome as a black gay man. :)

Fantastic experience: Took Melanie's zumba class just to try one at NYSC/WSC and all I can say is WOW! She took the time to really map out her choreos and it was a great workout. I worked up a pretty good sweat and had a ton of fun doing it. Would definitely recommend Melanie as an instructor!!

Fantastic experience: Melanie's Zumba class was super high energy, very fun, and the music was enjoyable! You can tell she cares about getting her students to be as engaged in the choreography as she is and her smile as our instructor was infectious!

Negative experience: the staff was terrible. for $90 a month, i expected greater respect. the poor are staff the reason that I quit. my work covered my membership fee. this gym was convient to my home, the equipment was fine. The other customers were respectful. but the staff made me ill . They kept pushing me to download their app. the app did not enhance the value of my membership. If you are already a "gym person" and you avoid interacting with the staff, this gym is good. In any other case, spend your time, and your money elsewhere. at the first sign of an issue, call and quit. if the issue gets resolve, rescind your cancelation.

Positive experience: In general good. If you know there’s a machine always in use, get a second one. I’m looking at you, Leg Extension machine. Also, personal trainers take weights to the PT room without returning them to the floor.

Fantastic experience: The new equipment and mats are great! The staff is friendly and helpful. I'm able to get my workout completed efficiently to start my day. (A second leg extention machine would be nice as the one is constantly in use.)

Positive experience: Management doesn’t seem to really understand what members want. Price goes up but club experience just goes down. Proactive maintenance doesn’t seem to exist. Just waits for stuff to break and then takes several weeks to fix. Been missing the 2nd 30lb kettle bell going on 2 months now.

Negative experience: My comment is that I have been a member for two months and they have not been able to help me recover my password to scan with my phone and be able to enter without waiting. Because yesterday when I arrived I spent until when the other members were waiting so it is sad for me to be waiting for two months and they have not been able to send me a new password.

Fantastic experience: It’s been a while since I have the gym a four star rating. The place is clean. The equipment is always in working order. The weights are plentiful. The staff is always kind and the patrons are respectful of each other.

Positive experience: Some of the equipment, especially the cardio, is in bad shape. It seems that there is no preventative maintenance program in place. Things are only fixed when they broken and inoperable instead of being proactive and providing equipment that works smoothly. Instead, things are clunky and bearly hanging on.

Fantastic experience: Love coming to all Ms. Tamara Coleman classes. She is the best instructor for Pilates, Burns, Core Cross Training, Total Body Conditioning, and Aquatic exercise. I like the NYSC for its convenient location. The gym has a lot of exercise equipments, nice environment, many classes to choose from that fit your schedule. It’s clean and the staff is very friendly. After a long working day, the gym is my quality me time. I feel so relaxed and refreshed afterwards.

Fantastic experience: Great gym with kind staff. Great variety of machines, squat racks, lifting platforms, turf, and free weight section. Feels spacious even when crowded. The sauna is an incredible bonus. Best gym in DC.

Positive experience: I think …assume everyone wants a towel if it’s not going to be accessible to grab anymore. It’s get tedious when they can’t get to them especially during peak hours when they have to greet the line. Think about it.

Negative experience: Inconsistent rules about when and where you can workout. Been kicked out of the main turf section multiple times for a class after the instructor gave the OK but another employee changed the rule mid set. Told to go to personal training space then kicked out of there multiple times. Always the same guy.

Fantastic experience: Convenient location that has everything you want in one place. Personally I go for the free weights and do my own thing, but there are dozens of machines for lifting/cardio and a really nice mixed-use area with kettlebells, box jumps, sleds... Pretty much anything you could want for Cross-Fit. Recently started incorporating kettlebells and this has been great. They have a pool and a basketball court which also host indoor volleyball and soccer. Multiple spin and Body-Pump type classes if you're looking for a structured/group dynamic. They also have a full personal training staff which I haven't used but I see the trainers while I am there and they're all friendly. The whole staff is great. Laura and Keith are always happy to help with anything I need and I enjoy seeing them when I go to the gym. If you haven't been in a while, you will definitely like the revised floorplan. It's a much better layout with more areas to workout and more equipment. The hours are good (5am-10pm). I typically go in the morning or occasionally during my lunch break. The only complaint I have is when people leave their towels and phones taking up space on multiple benches/weights/machines. Or when people use a dumbbell/kettlebell and don't put it back in its place. But that's not the gym's fault. You can only use one thing at a time. We're all trying to share the same equipment and get our exercise in before work or during a lunch break. Thankfully most people are nice about sharing space and working-in, so it's not usually a problem :-)

Positive experience: I love this gym and the convenience. I have been a member for almost 10 years I believe. To be honest, I am not a huge fan of some of the changes. I feel like they have replaced too many former benches and various workout equipment to put too much of an emphasis on leg stations. Not sure if the demand is truly there to justify this change. Many times during peak hours there are people waiting to use various equipment while some of the new leg stations remain empty. Also the new policy of only limiting 1 towel???

Positive experience: Towel service leaves a lot to be desired. I often get a paper thin rag of a towel and sometimes a small towel. When I complain they tell me that’s all they have or on occasion they will give me another, which is often not much better. The locker room seems be cleaned less often than it was previously. Seems they have cut back on cleaning staff and it shows in the toilets and the locker room area.

Positive experience: This gym has improved in the last few years. The new equipment is nice and the trainers and staff are all friendly. Phil and Thomas are especially great and helpful. Been training with for Phil for over a year. He pays close to attention to your goals and how you’re feeling and builds a customized program for you; adjusting it as needed. Thomas is super knowledgeable about PT/rehab and always offering tips and checking in. Always appreciate the welcome from Kane at the front desk as well. It’s a nice gym community and would recommend if you’re in the neighborhood.

Positive experience: Sports club is great gym. Full range of equipment, machines, and weights. Very standard setup. Lots of cardio options and a spin room. Everyone is v nice whether members or the sports club team. The full sized basketball court is fantastic and the pool is great. Only negative is I wish their maintenance schedule was a bit more proactive. It seems that something has to break before it gets repaired. And I wish they would extend the hours to 11–midnight would be amazing. Overall, the value is great insofar as price vs what you get. Other gyms may be nicer, but they don’t have a gym, or the size, and definitely not the price that NYSC has.

Positive experience: Pretty solid gym for the price point . Ample space to engage in any form of exercise. Saw a lady reviewed about the lack of stretching space. She’s is definitely wrong about that. Repairs of equipment are done pretty timely. Always room for improvement but a solid 4/5 for someone coming from LA fitness since 2021.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been very pleased with my membership at NYSC Columbia Heights; the gym is well equipped, and the staff are kind and professional. It’s been a very positive addition in my life. I have been particularly happy with my personal trainer, Thomas Harrington. Thomas is very kind, highly knowledgeable, will push one to do their very best, and clearly takes great interest in the progress of his clients. To add, he responds very quickly to questions outside of training sessions. I came into personal training with pre-existing orthopedic conditions, and Thomas was recommended for me. Not only have I physically strengthened, but correspondingly, my related pains have vastly diminished. It speaks highly of the gym that Thomas is on staff. Overall, I recommend NYSC Columbia Heights. The staff work hard, and it shows.

Positive experience: Really nice gym for the price and perks! You have $20 month to month. You have a swimming pool, free weight area, classes, sauna, power lift areas, cardio equipment and just so much. It does get busier in the evening so you can't use the machines quickly but people are nice about it. Really nice gym.

Fantastic experience: I started training with Thomas back in October, and it's been a good decision for my overall health. Thomas is a professional - he's incredibly knowledgeable and creates a personalized workout plan every single week. In the past six months, I've lost 15 pounds and feel stronger than ever. Fantastic experience: I remember being nervous to join this gym because of past reviews, but the proximity and convenience pushed me to sign up. And I’m so glad I did! I love the pool and have learned to actually use machines that I was previously intimidated by. I was also easily able to pause and restart my membership when I went abroad for a month. So far, I’m loving going to this gym!

Fantastic experience: I am a new member of the New York Sports Club located in Columbia Heights, Washington,DC. I am extremely satisfied with the friendly and knowledgeable level of professionalism of Mara Shook and Benjamin Lax. Fantastic experience: Ayanna is the best yoga instructor in this gym! Her flows are always smooth and different. Negative experience: Giving this gym two stars instead of one because it's roomy, had a generally good selection of equipment, and has potential to improve. But there are some serious issues that need to be addressed. The cleanliness and maintenance issues are egregious. The showers have had the same trash on the floor and stains on the curtains for weeks now. (White stains, waist-height, in the men's locker room - take a guess.) The drain flies in the showers are ubiquitous, and there are occasional roaches. Machines are often in disrepair. Right now, it's both the hip thrust and the plate-loaded hamstring curl. When I asked about the status of a previous repair to the leg extension (which, to the staff's credit, they did repair), the staff snapped at me for pressing the topic. There's a barbell that's clearly bent; I've mentioned it at least three times and nothing has happened. When I asked the staff about purchasing a new piece of equipment (a reverse hyperextension - the best machine on the market for your lower back), they blew off the request. However, plenty of other new equipment has appeared since, including a 90-pound dummy and moveable dip/row stands. A few things that would help this gym immensely: •A nightly walk-through of the gym before locking up for the night to return equipment to its correct space and remove hazards. There shouldn't be plates and dumbbells scattered about from the night before for the morning crowd to deal with. Also, why was there a box cutter left on the weight room floor? •A weekly maintenance walkthrough. Are bolts tight on all the equipment? Are pieces of equipment squeaking? Are any barbells bent and due to be retired? •A weekly, thorough cleaning of the locker rooms to remove trash, scrub the showers, wash the shower curtains, and address pests. •Keeping a supply of replacement parts on hand - cables, bolts, the tension bands that hold the weight on the leg extension/curl - so that there's no wait for replacement parts to arrive. •A reverse hyperextension (please)

Positive experience: Everything is fine but this seemed to me to be in bad taste to find that the towels they give us to dry our sweat or for bathing are also being used to dry urine from the damaged showers.

Negative experience: After the Connecticut Ave location closed down, I did my best to stay positive about having to use this location instead. At first it was crowded, but I adjusted. In the last few months however, this gym has gotten progressively worse to the point that it’s almost comical. There are many issues: 1. It has become so crowded during peak hours that it’s impossible to work out (tonight I just walked out after 15 minutes). It seems impossible that they’re not oversubscribed. It was literally a fire hazard in there today at 6:30pm. 2. There is barely any stretching space, meanwhile there is a whole empty studio that’s kept locked. People are constantly on top of each other in the small stretching area where the mats are falling apart. 3. The pool was one of the few redeeming qualities of this otherwise mediocre gym. Now, though, they’ve started closing it at 7:30pm, meaning everyone is forced to compete with the kids swim class that takes up half the pool until 7pm. They say that this is because the city is requiring them to have a lifeguard but they can’t find any… right. 4. Equipment is frequently broken or falling apart. 5. I had to get a new credit card due to fraud, which resulted in my membership payment not going through. When i went to the gym and provided a new card, they charged me a $20 late fee, even though it was only one day late. They can’t be bothered to hire a lifeguard or replace nasty mats, but they are super timely about billing and fees! I feel like this gym is gradually lowering the bar to see how dumpy it can get before I just give up and get a membership somewhere else. It’s a shame because it seems like there’s a core group of regulars that really like it there, or at least used to. I must’ve missed whatever era this gym wasn’t a madhouse.

Positive experience: I like that all the entire space and all the equipment is on one floor. And because it’s on the third level, the gym gets a lot of natural light. The layout is well-thought out; it doesn’t feel cramped. They just have to update the signage, as it still says WSC. And please provide better quality towels.

Negative experience: Thus gym has nothing to offer is a waste of time and money the equipment is always off or out of order and lot of the machines are incomplete or missing something for year if you want to do use of the extra wait you can’t because the CB is no way sucks it’s said not to be able to get a full work out.

Negative experience: Wish I could leave zero stars Horrible customer service experience. My card was most recently targeted for fraud, I had no option, but to cancel it, and request a new card. Because of this inconvenience, I had to wait for a new card to arrive, and I was unable to charge my membership for the upcoming month. I first called the customer service hotline because I didn’t want there to be a big scene at the front desk. The lady on the telephone assured me everything was fine, we’re going to put the notes into your account, once you get your card, you can update it and be good to go. That was assuring to hear , so I dress as usual To head to the gym, expecting full access, and being able to work out, the first thing, the lady at the front desk asked me as if I have a new card to update, I was puzzled, because I vividly remember telling the customer service agent Lady, that please note, I don’t have my new card yet, long story short , I was denied access and I was treated like a criminal, who was trying to sneak in, even though they know my face as a regular, who comes in frequently. The manager came and gave me the same story. If you’re even one day late, you cannot have access to the club gym. I even told him I had cash and assured him money is not the issue. I was still denied access I believe in certain situation like mine management should have a six sense to allow certain members to work out as they’re getting stuff situated. Embarrassing members, and turning them away in front of other members is not the way to keep clients happy. I was very embarrassed, I was very upset. I never leave Google reviews, but the way I was treated that day was wrong. It’s like they only treat you good when you’re up to date, if you have emergencies or certain circumstances that prevent you from being up today, treat you like a step child. I’m so upset I want to cancel my membership, the only thing keeping me at this gym is the basketball court. If it was over a week, I understand, it’s literally less than a week and they’re acting like this towards a member. The staff service is trash. Update: 2/6/2024 Membership is paid off in full. However, the damage has already been done. In Business, you never ruin relationships with your customers. This is a referrals business, If someone asks me to refer them to a good gym, I’m not going to say WSC, simply because of the way I was treated yesterday. The front desk staff needs to be retrained on empathy. If someone has an issue, you don’t argue with your customers, you listen and be empathetic to what’s going on. You offer solutions instead of saying tough luck. I can’t help you.

Negative experience: Today, I came to the club and I saw on the screen of my phone when I was checking in an alert that there is issues with the payment. I honestly did not anticipate issues with that and I asked the person at the front desk if she could check what going on with the payment. She checked and said that my card did not go through. I told her that I would fix the issues as soon as I get home because I didn’t have the card on me. She immediately denied access for me. When I asked to speak with a manager, a rude person came out and said that “you need to pay first!”. I asked if my membership was cancelled and he said no, it was not cancelled but he still would not let me in before I pay. I explained to him again that I was not aware of the issue before and that I would fix it when I get home and have access to my card. They still did not let me in! I don’t think that is a great customer service at all. Incredibly rude and not willing to even listen, I have never had payment issues before whatsoever! And even this time I was not aware there were issues with my card. What those managers barely can be called customer service.

Positive experience: Good weight training gym in the area with a good price however they really need an update. The weight area needs expansion with more mirror space. They also need to put in an 8 station cable machine to replace the current small ones. Both of these areas are too small and overcrowded. There’s a lot of machines that go completely unused that should just be removed to expand these 2 highly used areas. Hope they take these suggestions into consideration.

Fantastic experience: I went to this gym the other day and just gotta say that there’s one person at the front desk that has an amazing personality and made me feel very welcomed. I forget their name but they were a cute Ethiopian girl. Definitely made me want to come back. Also the gym is cool.

Negative experience: They literally steal money from you. They “forgot” my card on file and then charge you a 15$ service fee because the payment “didn’t go through”. Then have the nerve to talk to you like you are late on payment. Even after two years of loyalty to the gym, they still treat you like a chump and think they can steal from you.

Negative experience: This place really is a dump. Equipment stays broken for weeks or months, and the equipment that is available is so old and worn darn they hardly have any grips left. Every foam seat is split open. The towels are complete rags. Locker room reeks. The price difference between NYSC and Vida or even Equinox does not justify how bad this place is.

Negative experience: The management takes you for stupid. You cancelled your membership, they confirm the cancellation and the following months you keep being charged for a canceled membership. The problem is that they keep replying that your membership has been cancelled and that I was never charged during the following months despite the proofs of payment extracted from my bank account. So far they owe me two months. This is unacceptable. Despite the answer below, the "senior management" keeps sending the same copy/paste email. When are you really going to consider your members when they actually need you ?

Negative experience: I've been a member since 2019 or so and kept paying during the pandemic. Recently I'm noticing this place is going downhill. The location works for me and the pool is great in the winter, so I'm hoping they turn it around or a new chain buys the location. Recently they are starting to lock down and skimp on equipment - the studio is locked, no text bands or weight belts. The most recent, super annoying thing is that they won't give 2 towels. So you can't really take a shower. For some reason the towels are always involved when gyms tank. I saw this at the last gym before I left. Are there any other good gyms in the area that ppl recommend??

Negative experience: EDIT: One year later, I’m disappointed to have to update this review. With the new management in place under “New York” sports club, the customer service has really gone down hill and even staff can’t seem to keep up with changing policies. Since joining three years ago, I have brought in four new members to the gym. Usually, I’ve done this through having them first come with me as a free guest. Earlier this year, I was first told that free guest passes were no longer aloud, and that my guest would have to pay $15, and then a second person told me guest passes were only aloud every six months per individual. My guest had never been to the gym before so they were eventually able to sign in, but it was a lot of confusion and a little embarrassing for me who had hyped this place up. Then last month, I tried to bring a different guest who had also never been there before. I was then told that there were no more free guest passes period, and that the price had gone up to $20. I asked them if they had communicated this additional policy change out to their members or had it written down anywhere, and they said no. I asked them how they can hold their members to a policy that isn’t in writing anywhere. And the lovely gentleman up front (named Kane) shrugged at me and said “$20 is $20.” So, this is definitely the last time I will be attempting to bring a guest or any new members for that matter. If you want to be held to invisible (changing) policies and dismissed for asking questions, this is the place for you! ————————————— This is my first google review ever, but I’ve been going here for about 6 months and am honestly SHOCKED by some of these reviews. I absolutely love this gym. The staff are incredibly welcoming! The class options are great. For example, I really wanted to find dance and yoga classes. A lot of these classes in this area of DC are about $30 PER class. This place is much more affordable than taking classes individually or nearby gym locations with similar amenities (cough, YMCA). I’ve never had an issue with overcrowding. I’m almost hesitant to write this review because I feel like I’ve found a secret workout oasis. It has everything you need!! I encourage people to come check it out for themselves and not let the reviews dissuade you. I’m really glad I’m saw these after I joined and already love the place.

Fantastic experience: TLDR: WSC/NYSC Columbia Heights gym really does put in a lot of effort to be useful and maximize their space. Their space is clean and their staff is friendly and encouraging. I've had a great experience with this gym. Highlights: 1) Friendliest staff (front desk, sanitation, managers, and personal trainers) 2) The wipe down stations are always filled and people are usually courteous. Bathrooms/locker rooms are also clean. 3) I had Phil as a personal trainer. He was motivating, kind, and encouraging every step of the way! 4) Benjamin L. is friendly and always willing to answer questions. 5) The gym has made a great effort to get as much useful equipment in their space as much as possible.

Negative experience: The pool has been closed indefinitely by the city for “imminent heath hazards” and we didn’t receive any notification via email or explanation of the cause. Was glad to see they were finally cleaning up the gym more and added squat racks with the rebrand. Will probably cancel my membership now though.

Negative experience: They added some power racks and powerlifting platforms which is nice, but they're actively removing crucial gym machines and equipment. They removed the seated and prone leg curl machines, leaving only the single leg kneeling leg curl machine (which is the worst one of all three). They also removed the seated cable calf extention machine, leaving only the seated calf raise machine. There's only a single dip belt in the entire gym and it's always missing so you can't do weighted dips or pull ups. There used to be a great seated tricep pushdown machine, but that's been gone for years. The single tricep extention machine they still have is trash. It's almost as if they're purposefully removing the best machines and leaving the worst ones. At this point, planet fitness probably has better isolation machines than this gym.

Positive experience: positives: decent machines and not that crowded if you go early in the morning. friendly staff. negatives: one staff member at the front desk accused me of having double trials and just told me not to come back. While I was offended, I explained I never came here before this trial and she was not that apologetic and just said the system showed there were two trials on my account. If I were her, I would just ask the customer about the situation and offer a membership option instead of jumping to conclusion and drive out customers. If you work in a service industry and you leaving customers feeling offended, that's not a good attitude.

Negative experience: This gym almost unusable during even non peak hours. They have 2 squat racks and 1 deadlift space complementing 3 benches by the dumbbells. This is all to support one of the densest areas of DC Meanwhile there's more than 30 pieces of cardio equipment. Things are consistently broken and take forever to get fixed. If you're going to this gym it's out of convenience. The experience is bad and any new competition would sink this place quickly

Negative experience: I am disturbed that one of the trainers Benjamin Lax is still allowed to work here after the complaints that have been filed against him. He is known to touch his clients inappropriately multiple occasions and does not do his job well as a trainer. The fact that this gym still allows him to be employed here is very distasteful and says a lot about management. This is a matter that HR has ignored and I hope this deters their business in ways they will not come back from!
Negative experience: Love this gym, but the assistant manager is an extreme hot-head who got into a huge argument with me because I dared to use a machine that he claimed (without any indication) he was using. My unsolicited advice: fire this guy before he gets into a physical fight with a member (if he hasn’t already). The gym doesn’t need a liability like him.
