Fantastic experience: The staff is wonderful! Always helpful and friendly. An inexpensive gym with lots of variety. Mike is an awesome trainer, pushes you farther than you think you can go and is helpful even on the days he doesn't have a session with you. Teaches you about better eating habits and continually encourages you!

Fantastic experience: The staff at Max Fitness is always ready to answer any questions that I may have. They always are smiling. And they all try to help me in any of the classes when I have an injury and can't do all of what they ask me to do. Max Fitness in my opinion is the best gym in Bend,OR.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I have been going here since Sept of last year. I’ve attended quite a few gyms and this one is my favorite. Everyone is welcoming and there to workout. People unrack when they’re done and clean up after themselves. All the equipment you could want and even when it’s busy I’m still able to do my full workout. Highly recommend this place!

Positive experience: The gym was great, writing this review to warn other people so you don’t make the same mistake I made. Mind you this stuff was in the contract but obviously most people don’t think twice before signing If you have a payment that hasn’t gone through, you’re not allowed to cancel until your payment is made. Basically if you can’t pay your membership, it keeps adding on until you pay it and cancel Also after you cancel it they charge you the next payment, ex. I canceled beginning of january and still have to pay for March

Positive experience: Was good when it was open now that it's permanently closed I'll have to find a new one.

Negative experience: Be very wary of their contracts!!! Extremely predatory! I signed up for month to month and I contacted them to cancel. However 4 months later I discovered that they did not cancel the contract and were continuing to bill me. They required me to pay $600 at the time in order to cancel my membership. Now 8 months later I owe them $thousands$

Fantastic experience: What a great gym! Aside from the affordability and solid equipment options, these guys are doing a FANTASTIC job of managing the facility despite what is going on with COVID-19. They didn't ask me to write this. I'm writing this to clear the confusion of what you might read online. They truly ensure to the best of their ability that everyone wears a mask and maintains proper distancing during this time. It's not fair to them that some people have negatively expressed that they don't enforce this (as they are not in control of the human bodies that walk into their space and choose to disregard their policies.) So if you read reviews that say they let their people walk around without a mask on or don't care, it's a lie. Trust me, they are strict because they have to be (my husband is a great example of this. He hates wearing the mask during a workout (understandably) and has been routinely told to leave it on.) If you are looking for a gym, this is the BEST one in town! They are adapting to the current situation at hand and are managing this facility at near perfection!

Fantastic experience: I’ve tried out a few gyms here in Bend, OR and this one is my favorite. Friendly & helpful staff. It’s VERY clean and well kept. They have EVERYTHING for cardio, weights and machines that I could ever need. If you want to stay in shape or get back into shape, I can’t recommend Xcel South enough. Overall, great atmosphere for working out. Also, if you are looking for an amazing personal trainer, I recommend Owen, he’s the BEST!!

Fantastic experience: What can I say about Xcel Fitness? This place is AMAZING!!!! The front desk staff are professional, helpful, and caring. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcome. The machines are top-notch and the classes make you sweat! The owner has gone out of his way during COVID to ensure his clients are safe, happy, and healthy. It is a pleasure working out there! JOIN. THIS. GYM!

Fantastic experience: I've been going here for over 7 years...hands down the best gym in Central Oregon. Their equipment is all up to date, high quality, and they have everything covered. I especially love the atmosphere here...it's never crowded, and it's a great gym for everyone of all fitness levels, rather than the typical bro-gym full of just juiced up meat-heads. The staff are fantastic, and quickly get to know you on a first name basis. If you are looking for a place to go flex in front of the mirror and check yourself out like a world-class tool-bag, maybe go elsewhere or just stay home. If you are looking for a great gym with top-notch equipment and a great atmosphere...this is the place for you.

Fantastic experience: This is the best gym in Bend. They keep the facility very clean. The equipment is well maintained and functional. There are lots of free weights, weight machines, cardio equipment, and exercise classes. Other gyms in Bend pale in comparison.

Fantastic experience: $10 for day pass. Has TRX, free weights, machines, all cardio, row & kettle. They provide a free workout towel too. Excellent spot to get in your workout when on vacation.

Fantastic experience: I’ve always been a little intimidated to hit the weight lifting heavily because of the fear of injuries. I started working out with John Peters and now I am feeling really comfortable!! He has really dialed in my technique so I can up my weights and feel confident that I am lifting properly to prevent injury. Thanks John for changing the game!!

Fantastic experience: Finally got myself a personal trainer after trying to do it by myself for years. Highly recommend John. Now that he’s been training me I’m seeing results that I’ve never seen before. Working muscles I didn’t know I had. He’s also helped with leg endurance for running. Go see him if u want positive change!!!

I was a little bit bummed when I saw that it had been sold yet again, but thus far have been super pleased with the changes implemented by X-cel Fitness. There are spray clean bottles and towels everywhere to encourage folks to clean off their equipment; staff is friendly (and I'm so happy to see so many familiar faces from Elite/Max!); class schedule is great, rates are really good, and equipment is well taken care of with lots of options depending on the type of workout I want to do. Consistently impressed.

Fantastic experience: I come to Sun River every year and use this gym for a week. It’s got everything you need to put in a quality and productive week in the gym. The equipment is nice and the price is fair. Would recommend to weight lifters and those looking for high cardio equipment.

Negative experience: Do yourself a favor and go someplace that only requires monthly dues. Their annual fee has gone up over the years and no improvement have been made. Place is constantly dirty. We had to cancel our membership due to moving from the area and the 3rd party company they use to manage the memberships said that will NOT prorate and refund the annual fee and that any fees that are due in within the 30 days from your cancellation notice will be charged. So my annual fee and my husbands annual renewal fee will be charged based on this policy because it falls within the 30 days even though we have cancelled our membership.

Negative experience: Won't let you pay for a year all at once but they're willing to charge you late fees and stack them up month to month. They're just money grabbers equipment is ok. Workers just look like they're gym members. Bad business and unprofessional they want quick dirty money more then loyalty.

Fantastic experience: I've been going here for almost two years, and I've never really had to wait or alter my workout because of crowds, despite the fact that I go in the evening. I love that it has everything you need for your workout at a very fair membership price.

Negative experience: Front desk employee not friendly. I admit that handling a customer who wants to end a membership is the last thing you want to deal with. This particular employee of Maxx Fitness appeared to take it personally and made the whole interaction awkward, and her frustration even led to giving false information due to her overlooking my account. This is unacceptable. Prior to the visit to end my membership I was open to coming back to the gym when the need for a membership resurfaced, but now that will never happen, and I will not recommend Maxx Fitness to anyone. I hope that this review reaches the right person. Retention of members is important, but treating them like I was, will result in a detractor not a promoter and possible returning customer.

Positive experience: Not too crowded, nice people & Great workout place!

Positive experience: Good equipment and a very complete class option, but hard to get ahold of someone when you have issues. Things like replacing your scanner card or updating your membership perimeters is unnecessarily tedious.

Negative experience: Never had a problem finding available machines. Equipment is kept in good repair But the facility is run down and they have increased fees this year. Parking is a challenge. Will be finding a new gym.

Fantastic experience: LOVE THIS GYM! We all go threw times of self motivation and unfortunately lack their of. Carly is the BEST when it comes to either! On the days it's hard to want to go as soon as I walk in the door her positive and upbeat attitude, amazing energy, along with encouragement will make all the difference. Leaving feeling so energized as well as accomplished. Not only Carly but all her staff have been so great on giving me ideas and tips. It's so nice to go to a gym where the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and actally want to help you reach your personal goals.

Fantastic experience: Great place for the price, staff in nice and its only one of two gyms in town that has childcare!

Negative experience: Go to Xcel. Better people, a cleaner gym and cheaper. Not to mention it is 24 hour. Max used to be great but they are going downhill. I am locked into a year contract so that sucks. Know what they are selling you on because their terms are way different than before, now they just want your money.

Positive experience: Great! I will return when the yoga classes are scheduled differently :)
