Positive experience: I go to this gym specifically for the Zumba instructors-Adriane,Jiovanny, and Betty. They’re great! Front desk is always helpful and warm. Could use a good deep cleaning in tanning and women’s locker room. Worth the money.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been at Fittness Evolution for just over four years now. I’ve visited just about every gym in Bellingham and here is what I like most about Fit Evo: Friendly staff, great gym culture, kind gym members; Sauna (amazing for the skin), Huge selection of free weights and machines; Amazing overhead full spectrum lighting; huge 2nd story cardio deck with new ellipticals ( my go to for cardio) I don’t use the theater cardio or the classes due to time constraints. Hands down best gym in Bellingham!

Fantastic experience: Great for a complete workout. Good variety of weight and aerobic machines, free weights, and other apparatus. Lots of space. Clean and well maintained, friendly and hard working staff. Never crowded, at least at the times I've been there. Friendly, no stress atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: Great spot to work out. A lot of support for recovery after the work out as well. Clean equipment and smoothie bar to finish it off. So far no complaints

Positive experience: Great gym, for the most reasonable price in Bellingham. The only reason this isn’t a 5-star review is for how difficult they make the cancellation process. It feels intentionally difficult in order for them to keep taking money from you.
Hi Natalia, Sorry to hear you felt the cancellation process was difficult. Since October 2023 our cancellation process is to email us and we handle the request. This method was the most requested by members. In an effort to satisfy our members, we chose to use this method. If your cancellation was mishandled or you have a suggestion on a better method, please reach out or reply. We’re always looking to improve! We can assure you that there’s no intention to “continue taking money” from members.

Fantastic experience: Jared, the Manager, always friendly, listens to input from the customer. Kristen, the Fitness Director does a terrific job hiring quality group fitness instructors. The classes I have attended are with Kristen, Shari, Kari, Dani, Betty, Adriane, Jeanne, Jovanny, Amanda, Jing and Ian. Hector in maintenance stays on top of repairing any problems with equipment and the building. All are very knowledgeable, professional and not pretentious, I always look forward to the classes! Kudos to Steve, the owner for making this gym a pleasure to visit as it is a huge part of my life. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Been a member for over 5 years. I won’t be switching gyms anytime soon because it’s the nicest one and has daycare. This is amazing for me as a mom who wants to stay active. I trust them a lot and they do a good job with the kids. They’re affordable too and spacious. I’m comfortable here!

Fantastic experience: Today I signed up for a premium membership. Jared and (customer) Diane really helped me make up my mind. Professional Staff, Clean environment, super nice people all around. Fantastic experience: Finally a gym that listens to your preferences. Many of us loved an incredible instructor, Johvanni, and wanted more classes by him, so many of us spoke to, Kristin, who listened and she made it happen. Not only that, this gym offers so many different classes by many excellent instructors. Plus no heavy sales at the door to join, very respectful and low key. Best dance/excercise classes around.

Positive experience: Great gym with its rates, variety of equipment, 2 floors, and sauna, but it's the members that kind of make it meh. If you show up between 5:30 pm and 8, the whole city seems to be there, including the dumb people in the mix.

Positive experience: Plenty of equipment and space. Very friendly staff. Some of the equipment could use some TLC. Inexpensive. Rated by my nephew, who lives in Bellingham, has the best gym in town. I went three times, and enjoyed it.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been to many gyms, and this gym truly checks nearly every box. I love the layout, spaciousness, and the amenities. Also it’s very clean! I always see employees cleaning and people wiping down equipment after use. Fantastic experience: I have worked out at this gym for years. It has always been wonderful, clean, and well managed. The employees are always polite and helpful. I would like to give specific credit to my trainer Becky. Her workouts were absolutely fabulous and exactly what I was looking for every time. Fantastic experience: So happy with the stellar training that I have been receiving from my FitEvo personal trainer Betty. I came to the club with a long history of physical issues and she has been incredibly helpful, supportive and patient with me. She has an endless knowledge of appropriate exercises for every muscle you have. It has been a joy to be working with her and has given me a new lease on an active life.

Negative experience: When you sign up you’re signing up for a lifetime membership. You cannot call and cancel your membership. They will tell you to email somebody, but after doing so, will continue to charge you. Furthermore, they will give you a reduced membership cost for signing up with your bank account to add another loop to their fishy business practices. Do not fall for this, canceling your card is the only way to cancel your membership. This will result in sending you to collections, but you will remove these leeches from your bank account. Find a local gym, that is not a franchise, and will not use the same tactics as internet subscription scams.
Update: It’s been over a week and we haven’t heard back from Nick. We have searched our database of accounts that have been sent to collection recently and can’t find one that would match the claims he has put in his review. For public knowledge, here at FitEvo, we have a large number of members who stop paying their membership dues without thinking about the repercussions of their actions. We aren’t saying that’s what happened here with Nick, but it happens frequently. Then when they get hit with a letter from a credit agency, they get upset. Then they turn to Google, Reddit, Yelp, etc to get their revenge. Here at FitEvo we do our best to make sure members are contacted about their overdue balances before getting sent to collections, we work hard to prevent member accounts from going to collections, and we make cancellation as easy as possible…send in an email. Personal responsibility is a hard pill to swallow for some people. We deal with hundreds of account issues every year without issue. As long as members pay their dues they agreed to in their contract and email to cancel. We are still hopeful that Nick will reach out and let us help him. If we made an error, we will own it and make it right. Hi Nick, we are sorry to hear you had a negative experience with billing/cancelation. We work diligently to avoid members going to collections, especially erroneously. We would be happy to assist you and remove you if that is the case. Please reach out to us at [email protected] so we can get the details and fix this for you if it is an error we made. As far as the bank account payment option being a preferred method, it is due to two major factors: 1. We are charged a large merchant services fee to use cards instead of bank accounts, so it saves us money, which in turn we help members save by not charging them as much. 2. In the world we live in with credit card fraud and identity theft, credit card payments do not go through at a high percentage, and we (as well as other subscriptions) end up chasing down dues owed, which costs us in labor. 3. Credit and debit cards expire, bank accounts don’t. So when a member forgets or doesn’t realize their card has expired, we again end up spending more in labor to chase down payments. Having members use eft (bank accounts) is easier and cheaper for everyone involved. However, we realize most people prefer card because of convenience and it’s what they’re used to. And that’s fine, we just pass along the fees we get charged, just like a lot of other companies. Again, Please reach out to allow us so we can get the details on your cancellation, and possibly fix it if there were errors on our part. Thanks!

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Fitness Evolution for a little over 3 months now, and wanted to give a shout-out to the awesome staff and facilities! All of the front desk workers-but especially the woman who works on Sunday mornings--are very welcoming and authentically kind, even when I have been standoffish myself. As well, the staff is all very knowledgeable and have answered any question I can throw their way with grace. I have a premium membership and am able to bring a guest with me to the gym and to classes EVERY TIME I go, who they always treat like a member of the gym, and with the same level of respect that I get. What?! I don't always like to workout in front of others, so this place has a literal movie theater, with a projector on the wall, and a dimly (but safely) lit room with treadmills, stair masters, bikes, and ellipticals in it. They show a different movie every day. Don't even get me started on the classes!! Check out Cardio Kickboxing with Dennis for a fun workout and stress reliever. If that's not your thing, don't worry, they have classes for everyone and they are all great-Tai Chi, Yoga, TRX, Zumba, etc. We all know how important it is to keep up on our physical health. It is equally important to be able to work out in a place you feel safe, secure, and supported. If you are still struggling to find these things in a gym, I urge you to check out Fitness Evolution. You won't regret it--and they have a guest pass option for your first visit, so you can try before you buy. Invest in yourself this year!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this gym! I Bought a place in Ferndale so unfortunately had to find another gym closer to home for a year. However, after trying all the closer ones, I realized no one can match fit evos energy, culture, and amazing staff. Huge selection of energy drinks, protein shakes/bars. Abilene, Emily, and the custodian w/ the huge truck (forgot his name, sorry!) are all fantastic, and have such great vibes. The New owner has really spiced things up! Anyways, Y’all make it worth the drive, keep it up fit evo gang (the ring pop energy drinks are )

The owner and staff work hard to create a postive gym environment and take feedback very seriously. Fit Evo is so welcoming to everyone, from gym newbies to competitive bodybuilders. Fantastic experience: I have been a member at Fitness Evolution for 6 years. It’s the best value in town. There is a lot of great equipment that is well maintained and it never feels too crowded even during busier times. My only suggestion would be to get Peloton bikes instead of the old tired stationary bikes currently in use

Fantastic experience: The best bang for the buck in town. Plus a comfortable and welcoming environment for “average” folks (like me) who just want to do our best to try and maintain some sort of healthy lifestyle, whatever that may be. And ownership seems to really be involved in helping and giving back to our community. I think this is a Win-Win-Win.

Fantastic experience: I didn’t realize I had paid for childcare with my membership for an entire year and I never used it. I got a call from the office refunding me when they absolutely did not have to. I would’ve never known :)

Positive experience: Been going to fit evo for about 1.5 years and love it as there’s a sense of community and it’s the best priced gym in the area! 4 stars only because it gets PACKED around 4-6pm, but it makes sense since there’s very few low cost gyms in Bellingham.

Fantastic experience: Over the years I have belonged to a few gyms. What I really enjoy and value about Evolution Fitness is a very clean gym and plenty of well maintained and clean equipment. I also like there’s a wide range of users, serious gym folks as well as plenty of every day users of all age groups. Membership is very affordable. I love that gym!

Positive experience: Big shoutout to Kristen leading the group power classes - she brings energy and makes everyone feel welcome in the studio. I enjoy this gym for the classes, movie theater, unlimited buddy passes, and low price. Because it’s one of the more affordable gyms in town, it does get very crowded in the evenings, but if you are able to work out other times or if you are going to the classes it’s a good deal.

Positive experience: The classes at this gym are great. Instructors Amanda and Kristen keep me coming back! Facilities are clean, and it's a great price compared to other gyms in the area. Outside of classes, the general free weights can feel a little too crowded and macho for me to be comfortable using.

Fantastic experience: My Fiancé and I have been going here for a while. I always recommend this gym to others because I have nothing but good things to say about this gym, it may seem busy but we always get a good work out in. Everyone is super nice and they’re always willing to talk, but on top of all that the staff is super nice and super attentive. I’d like to shoutout Wyatt who always helps me with my random different questions, but also Pagie and Tyler who I always see going around making sure everything is where it should be. Negative experience: Charges Multiple months after you cancel and tries to be sneaky about it. They make you jump through a million loopholes to cancel. Edit: Since I got a response, I will say again yes you charged me multiple months after I had thought I had canceled, and yes it was years ago I was a member doesn't make my experience any less valid. I remember emailing you multiple times with no response and going in person and having to get a manager to fill out a form in person. But maybe things have changed but I still hear that people experience this and maybe if you didn't get caught you wouldn't get so hit in your responses from valid customers. Also if you look at all the reviews in the last 3 weeks most the account haven't reviewed other businesses so, might have had to fill in some fake 5 stars reviews to hide the real ones. I will help them out and give them a 2 star review because as for actual functionality of a gym it's passable
Update: Nicholas, We have actually updated our cancelation policy and procedures a few times to make it as simple and accommodating for members over the past two years. We will try to reach out to you personally to get details on your experience to see if more improvements can be made. We have had nothing but positive feedback on the ease and accuracy of cancelation since our improvements. As far as our reviews go, look at how many of them mention staff by name, or reference relative information about FitEvo. These are real members. We have just made a push to get reviews from all of our members instead of relying on reviews from just the ones who are upset. We try to make all of our members happy, but the reviews don’t always reflect an accurate depiction due to happy customers/members not being as inclined to leave a review. This is true for just about any business. Original: Nicholas, our cancellation policy is actually simple; you just have to email us! As far as getting charged after cancellation, if this happened we’d be happy to refund you with proof of cancellation email. Unfortunately, the only Nicholas (or Nick) Green we have in our system cancelled years ago. Have you been a member or are you leaving a review that’s not based on your own personal experience?
Positive experience: This would be 5 stars if it wasn’t for the parking situation. Additional parking could be easily expanded around the West and Rear/South sides of the gym building. Some people only have the option to work out during busy times. Doing laps around the parking lot for 10-15 minutes trying to get a parking spot every time can be aggravating. Other than that it’s a clean, well maintained and well staffed facility .

Unfortunately the west side of the building is not our property and the owners are not willing to allow for parking expansion. Fit Evo’s ownership has even explored renting space from other non-adjacent surrounding businesses’ property. So not as easy as one might think. Fantastic experience: The gym provides a safe, clean, energetic atmosphere for working out. If you are an introvert, don’t go during peak hours (~5-7 pm). As an extravert, I don’t really mind the crowded gym.

Positive experience: Fair price, not always consistently clean in the locker rms but over all a great place to be. I enjoy my time at the gym. Best sauna in town. Large facility. Attracts a younger crowd that sometimes doesn't respect others or leaves a mess I've noticed.

Negative experience: Being 18th out of 20 gyms in Bellingham speaks for itself. Wild how all these NEW accounts are leaving short and positive reviews. Would not recommend.
So Bentley, are you giving us a one star review based on your actual experience at FitEvo or are you basing it off of a random ranking you found online and hating on recent positive reviews. We might be 18th out of 20 on some random site where warriors live and die on their keyboards, but we were also voted best gym (two years in a row) in the best of northwest contest through Bellingham Alive, which is as about as reputable as you get. Also, our member engagement team staff members have been putting an emphasis on collecting more reviews from our members in the gym. Not sure we need to apologize for that, but sorry it doesn’t fit your agenda.

Fantastic experience: I have attended FitEvo for several years. I must say, the staff is always friendly and courteous, the enviroment is kept clean and stocked with sanitizer spray and paper towels for us to wipe down equipment before and after we use it. Great hours, tons of workout eguipment, movie theater room, and sauna!

Fantastic experience: Great place , best in Bellingham by far!!! Great equipment, nice folks . Only downside is Music is extremely loud from 4am-7am when people are just trying to lift. Yet to find ear plugs or buds that even dampen it . Fun to go there everyday.

Fantastic experience: I recently rejoined FitEvo and have been very pleased with my decison. It has been nice to see all the improvements that have been made since I left. I especially love the kids facility and staff members that welcome you with smiles each time. The kids club does cost a bit extra but it's totally reasonable given what they provide for facilities, staff, and services.

Negative experience: Unethical business practices and deceptive marketing UPDATE Since the owner decided to try to discredit my review: Let's add another unethical business practice to the list, responding to online reviews with false and misleading information to try to paint your company as the victim. You seem to forget that in YOUR email you only offered me a waiver of dues if I could provide you with evidence of misleading marketing. Yet now you claim that you gave me a waiver in "good faith", rather than as a blatant attempt to stop me from writing a bad review. You constantly claim that "we do everything right now" while ignoring and refusing to admit that you have been deceptive in the past. Also how can you possibly claim that "if these were real issues more of our members would complain" when anyone reading this can scroll through the countless one star reviews complaining about the same exact issues. Your gym is ranked 18th out of 20 on google reviews in bellingham, yet you claim to not have any complaints. And that's not to mention your even worse ratings on other platforms. Like how 65% of your reviews on yelp are either 1 or 2 stars. You can't just claim that your gym doesnt have any issues when the evidence is all around you. When you requested that I provide you with more context on the reason I was leaving, I told you about how your advertisements and staff brought me into the gym claiming that I would only be paying $10 a month for my membership. It was only after I joined that I was told to expect a yearly additional charge. You then added absurdly high fees to my monthly payments and raised my monthly bill twice in under two years. Despite what you claim, I only ever received one email regarding a price increase. This means that in under two years I went from the claimed $10 monthly cost, to actually paying a $22.43 average monthly price. You responded by saying that they now have a flier that they hand out to describe their fees. If this is true it is an improvement, but also ignores the hidden price increases I presented. Additionally, whether they are disclosed or not, I think these practices are very shady, so I responded with this message: "Whether or not you disclose these fees to your new customers, I still believe that it is unethical to be implementing these strategies, as they are designed to enable misleading marketing. The only purpose I can see of charging a separate annual fee is to allow you to claim lower monthly fees in marketing material. This is a common tactic used by businesses to allow them to market deceptively low rates, and if you have any other justifications for its existence I would love to hear them. There is also no reasonable justification for requiring customers to pay for an entire extra month after canceling their membership. 30 days notice is entirely unnecessary when I have no doubts that the digital system that manages your members could easily be updated immediately upon receiving the request, or at least by the end of the current month. This system, while in the contract, is clearly unnecessary and only serves to squeeze as much money as possible out of every customer. Finally, it looks like you are confirming that the several dollars that I was charged every month as "payment fees" were all just credit card fees. Credit card payment fees on a $10 payment should be at most in the range of 20-30 cents. This tells me that you were massively overcharging for these fees and almost certainly just pocketing the extra several dollars that you were charging me. This is incredibly deceptive and unethical. Regardless of whether you clearly present these fees in your contract, this is a practice that should never be done by any business that claims to care about its customers." You never responded to this email, so maybe now that you brought this debate into the public I will get a response. I look forward to seeing what you have to say, so long as it's not the same "but its industry standard" excuse that you have been using for years to avoid addressing your customers' complaints.
Update: Jesse, There seems to be a lot of assuming and some things you’re posting that aren’t true. We waived your dues long before you left a review, we have always had flyers with our prices, we always attempt to endure new (and current members) are aware of all pricing and changes. In fact, our billing company won’t raise rates without a confirmation of email notification to all members. Our general manager will be reaching out to you in an attempt to either meet with you or talk over the phone in an attempt to hear you out. Over email and in this review thread, there seems to be some lack of understanding on each side. Bottom line on our part: *Fit Evo has always and will always attempt to be upfront with billing. *If we (or any of our contracted partners) are at fault for something that causes members negative experiences or charges, we refund and do our best to make members happy. Our waiving of your dues is an example. We didn’t have to do that, and you didn’t even ask us to. But we did because you were obviously unhappy and it was something we could do to hopefully make you feel better about the situation. We hope you take us up on our offer for a conversation to see if we can understand each other better. Thanks After reviewing your email correspondence with our member services supervisor, we can’t help but notice that your complaints fall more into the “you didn’t pay attention” and “it’s in your contract” more than anything being deceptive or unethical. Your two complaints were about our annual fee which we ensure all new members are aware of, as well as it being on all of our physical and digital membership material, and an increase in your membership dues, which you were sent an email informing you (we even double-checked to make sure). Both of these items affect ALL of our members, so if we were being unethical or deceptive, you would think there would be more reviews regarding these issues, right? Above all, when you cancelled, we even waived your last month’s dues in an attempt in good faith to show you compassion and empathy. Yet you still chose to leave a negative review.
Fantastic experience: The gym has exceptional communication skills! Despite personal circumstances, they have been diligent in keeping members informed and updated. I will definitely be returning. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Fitness Evolution is an excellent gym! The staff always are super helpful and friendly!! Great vibes and the equipment is new and well kept up on always!! And don’t forget the amount of trainers and classes they have is great because you can find a person to match up with according to your fitness goals!! Positive experience: I had my membership for 3 years and when I tried to cancel it, they claimed they were unable to cancel it unless I called thr phone number they gave me. So I called the number and they asked for my member number. I went back into fitevo and they said they couldn't find my member number. So I was unable to cancel. I ended up going to my bank and having them block charges from fitevo and now fitevo si sending me to collections UPDATE: they contacted me and explained what was going on. They adjusted the information, canceled the membership and waived all previous fees.

Negative experience: Do notttt hook your bank account here. I have been trying to cancel my account for theee months now and it has taken 6 emails, a call and I finally heard from a manager the other day who looked at my 6 ignored emails (over the span of a month, fyi). They have known that I wanna cancel my account since early November and I STILL am getting charged. Do not give your money to this company. No communication from management, unnecessary fees constantly and zero help when I try to call.

We granted this request, although your 12.01.23 payment was already processing, so you were charged the regular rate of $18.46. 12.01.23: You informed us via email about the payment. *This was a Friday afternoon. Our cancelation team handles issues Tuesdays and Thursdays* 12.05.23: A refund of the $18.46 was issued. 12.06.23: You requested to cancel your membership. *Our cancelation policy states members will be charged next calendar month after request and will have access to facility* 12.15.23: Annual fee was charged as scheduled. 01.01.24: You were charged $10. $5 for December’s freeze rate and $5 for January’s freeze rate. 01.02.24: We attempted to contact you, no reply. We are now refunding you the two month’s freeze rates, and canceling your account immediately to attempt to satisfy your requests.
Fantastic experience: I can't express how much I love and appreciate this gym. The staff may be young but boy are they on top of things. They are always cleaning something. Bathrooms are always spotless. Which is a great feeling after a work out to see. They are also super helpful and happy to answer any questions or figure out a way to get you an answer. There was one point I had a disagreement and problem with one of the daycare staff. So I wrote an email and Jared got back to me right way! Set up an meeting and talked to me for an hour and heard me. And made changes. That I see when I go there. He also waved the daycare fee as well. I also had a problem with a getting a late free on something I shouldn't have. But when I called Jared he explained how the gym isn't tied into the agency that charges the late fee. But he did have the power to call them and have it canceled. So if that happens to you just call and they are happy to fix it. Because they don't even know about the charges. Anyways this gym really is here for the people. They did a Christmas drive for 9 family's. It was a beautiful things to see. I'm 32 pounds down because of this gym and still going strong. I recommend this gym very much.

Negative experience: Was a member for a few years in college. Pricing/billing was very misleading. I’ve heard things have gotten worse on that front since. Heard lots of negative reviews from friends and family over the last year. Would not recommend to ANYONE!

Negative experience: Caution, this gym will charge you two extra months after you cancel and the annual fee. if you think that the pricing here is good, consider that it'll cost you over 100 bucks if you every have to leave. very sneaky and dishonest policy hidden in the nicely worded contracts. Apon leaving for medical treatment i forgot to cancel my membership, they will take your money even if you are to your last cent or in an emergency. cause when you're in crisis you should always have your gym membership in the front of your mind. please consider not supporting this business in Bellingham, there are much better options for a slightly higher price, and you won't get screwed over either!
Joey, we were able to connect with too after you left this review. Once we heard your story, we refunded the dues from your last visit as a point of compassion, as we have for all of our members. We understand that tragedies in life happen and we have sympathy for them. However, we can’t tell someone’s situation if they forget to cancel. We understand your frustration in a time that you were experiencing. But hope you see our efforts in refunding you, which goes against our policy and contract, but felt like it was a decision in compassion and humanity. Negative experience: FRAUDULENT CHARGE ATTEMPTS MONTHS AFTER CANCELLATION- Don't join Fitness Evo unless you're prepared for a huge headache if you ever need to cancel your membership. My teen son enjoyed Fitness Evo, but we have since moved out of the area and after giving proper notice to cancel his membership, they continued to attempt to charge us. We've spent many hours trying to communicate with them and their parent company with no lasting result so far. They acknowledged the cancellation right away but still try to charge us FOUR MONTHS LATER, and haven't issued a refund for the fraudulent charges to date. It's been so severe that our bank has had to place a block on our account to prevent them from continuing to charge us.

Positive experience: Fitness Evolution is a great gym, it is very clean, has a good variety of equipment, and I like the layout. There is a cardio theatre playing movies, a kids club, classes, a sauna, tanning, a smoothie bar, and a barbershop. The clientele seems normal, everyone minds their own business and works out. Overall I have been very happy here. *updated review, billing issues resolved* One star deducted because I had a billing issue that took over a month, a dozen emails, and a negative google review to resolve. Once I posted the review though, the manager contacted me immediately and we were able to get the issue fully resolved (thanks!). Watch your bill and make sure it’s right, they’re having problems with their billing company.
