Sag Harbor Gym: Opinions
Positive experience: It is a small gym, but has all of the equipment that you will need, many treadmills, bikes etc the usual StairMasters, also has a dedicated weight room as well as a dedicated stretching room that has a few extra pieces of equipment in it as well. Also has which I believe is one of its best features a hot sauna and is located actually on the docks of the town so a decent view from the back when you're working out there. Staff staff are helpful. It is a little on the expensive side typically about $100 a month unless you get one of their frequently running specials that run for about 90 days or so that reduce it by $20.
Positive experience: The majority of the negative reviews about this place are how expensive it is. Let me start by saying yes it is extremely expensive. a one day pass is $50, a week pass is $130. But here’s the thing-this is the only gym in Sag Harbor so there’s no competition, And people living here don’t really care about paying these amounts to enter a mediocre gym. So putting the cost aside, I think this gym has a lot to improve. You should know that upon signing up whether it’s for a weekly pass or an annual, even if you’re paying by cash, they require a credit card to be kept on their computers for some reason. If you’re only in the Hamptons during certain months of the year and want to freeze your membership for when you come back, it is possible but it would cost you $10 a month until you restore the membership. The majority of the equipment at this gym is old/falling apart/rusty or broken. And almost every machine is from a different company which may sound like nitpicking, but it really doesn’t look good. The AC is never working well- during the summertime it’s never less than 75 Fahrenheit and in the winter, the AC struggles to keep 65 Fahrenheit. The men’s bathroom always smells bad with dirty floors and no soap in the dispensary. The water fountains filter indicating red for forever with no one replacing it. There’s a vending machine with protein shakes and energy drinks, but for the cost of one protein shake, you could get a month membership at planet fitness gym for example. Just for comparison. Putting all that aside, the one thing that upset me the most, and made me write this review is one of the workers working at the front desk. I wish I knew her name but she’s a young white/Middle Eastern female that works there about twice a week. The other day when I came to the gym, I noticed she’s wearing a Palestinian scarf. All politics aside, no matter what you think about the situation, wearing political symbols in a public gym as an employee is highly unprofessional in my opinion. A public mediocre Gym with a premium price should know better about respecting the public and leaving the workout environment and the community a place to do just that, working out, and building yourself, in a safe environment.
Fantastic experience: Visited on a one day pass in mid October 2023. Great gym, lots of equipment. Great sauna!! (They let you pour water on the rocks!). All areas absolutely spotless…men’s room extremely clean! Plenty of parking.
Negative experience: Obnoxiously over priced gym. I’m from the area… The equipment is old and dated… They refuse to add or update or fix… They let groups of children in to disturb your work out… They hang out in there like an extra curricular activity after school.
Positive experience: Gym is ok. Prices are through the roof though. Paid 40$ per person for a day pass, wich is fine if a gym offers special services like sauna etc. imo, but the bathrooms weren’t even clean. Anyway. The gym has squat racks, worn out Rogue barbells, some cool plate loaded machines and a place to get filtered water. Wifi was also working
Fantastic experience: I can't really fault this gym. Great size. Lots of equipment. Didn't have to wait/ queue for anything the x5 visits I went (early April). I didn't train at peak time though. It was clean, and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. It cost me $150 for a five-use pass, which at $30 per visit, is what I'd expect to pay in a gym in London (where I live). This rate was 'attached' to an existing member, so I am not sure what the visitor's pass cost is if you're not with an existing member.
Fantastic experience: Dedicated ownership.
Negative experience: I'm sharing this because i wanna make sure if people read this, learn from my story! If you canceling your membership don't listen to staff you all good.make sure you write email to management because you will be charged next billing cycle if you don't cancel over the email and have no proof . Well not end of the world i just wish they had better trained staff that would inform me of this.
Negative experience: $40 daily rate? Not even to work out in the NY Jets gym. Sad and feeble greed.
Fantastic experience: Simply the best Gym that I know of.
Negative experience: 40$ For a day pass! Offensive
Positive experience: This used to be a great gym, until two weeks ago. Then they rented out the back room to Tracey Anderson, aka Danceteria from the 70s. If you value your eardrums, or what you prefer to listen to on your headphones, don't come here in the morning at least.
Negative experience: $350 weekly pass, $40 day pass. Just absurd. Please don’t give them your business.
Positive experience: Only gym in town charges a stupid premium. Visiting, $40 for a day pass. I have a Life Time membership and this place is laughable in comparison.
Fantastic experience: Expensive but well equipped .

Fantastic experience: Love the place
Positive experience: This place is hoppin'
Fantastic experience: Great gym
Fantastic experience: Great trainers. Perfrect hours. New machines
Negative experience: There is a cancelation fee of $149.00 and you must provide proof of a new residential lease, new government ID or new credit card with your current address to prove you have moved away and no longer need their services. You must read the fine print on the contract you signed but never received! (sneaky sneaky tactics) Shame on me, but shame on Sag Gym for having their patrons to give personal and financial information to a third party that handles their memberships JUST TO CANCEL.
Positive experience: Our friend recently told us to stop in here for a smoothie.. As it turns out the quality of their smoothies are actually better than what Provisions offers right across the street, and the prices are even a little cheaper.. If you’re in Sag Harbor and looking for a healthy smoothie give the smoothie bar inside the Sag Harbor Gym a try!! Disclaimer.... I’ve never worked out here so I have no opinion/insight regarding the actual gym!!
Positive experience: Most of what you could need
Fantastic experience: Great GYM. Everyone's very nice and friendly.
Fantastic experience: The only place for the jacked and tan
Negative experience: It’s definitely the only place to work out, so they know people will come. But for the price, you’d think they could update the equipment or at least have labels on the weights so you know what you’re lifting. Could do way better.
Fantastic experience: Great instructors, flexible class times, new juice bar
Positive experience: Good place to workout, nice variety of classes, workout machines/weights kept in good working order only problem is the shortage of an area to stretch out during morning and evenings
Negative experience: the trainers or couch are so bad, really?? they dont even have trainers and dont even care what you are doing, very poor attention. Its better not payng those couchs they dont teach you nothing or are pushing you anything, for the service u pay i think is too much. Its too bad there is not another gym close sag harbor in a reasonable price. If i could i put 0 stars.
Negative experience: I go to gyms across the country. I've had varying experiences. Let me tell you this is one of the worse. Small, expensive nothing abnormal for a lower level gym.. The manager though he is excpetionally bad. After talking to him about using his facility he told me that i had taken 2 minutes of his time and that was 2 minutes too much.... I'm a gym rat, I need the weights. I JOINED for the weights. It's one thing to be firm in policy its' another thing to be rude and aggressive. IF you have other options i would go with them. GL stay healthy stay fit.
Fantastic experience: Great team running the gym. Always a good experience.
