Devil Dog Gym: Opinions
Positive experience: A clean, well-kept facility with a good variety of gym equipment. A good gym to visit if you’re on Cherry Point
Positive experience: I clean my equipment after every use. Could you please submit a work request to clean the vents and change the filters?
Positive experience: Everything is great except the size of the gym, it's not big enough to support the marines here on cherrypoint
Positive experience: Nice enough except " you like that machine ? Too bad it's goin to BOQ"
Fantastic experience: Loved it
Fantastic experience: It was clean and not crowded.
Fantastic experience: Nice. Don't go during lunch time thou.
Fantastic experience: Great gym!
Fantastic experience: 24 hours and good for cherry point
Positive experience: This gym has OK equipment but not enough for the whole base. Kind of wish the gym was like the one in Beaufort closer to the track and hit center. The cardio machines are out in a trailer which ok but not the best.
Fantastic experience: Get after it!
Fantastic experience: Plenty of free weights and machines with a separate cardio room. Plenty of space as well.
Positive experience: Marines being marines but the gym is small
Fantastic experience: The best Gym! But only military relate people can use it
Fantastic experience: Very clean although it may get a little congested at times.
Positive experience: Pretty nice gym overall, staff is mostly friendly, for a free gym it's a good gym.
Fantastic experience: It has everything you need for great workout
Fantastic experience: Well maintained and clean. Tons of equipment and machines to get the best workout
Fantastic experience: I liked this gym 4 years ago when I was stationed here. I still like this gym after the somewhat recent renovations. Clean and well kept facility.
Fantastic experience: Great gym just don't going during peak times. Like early mornings, lunch and after work
Fantastic experience: Positive: Professionalism
Fantastic experience: Great gym with lots of equipment and cardio machines! Sometimes it gets busy, but if you go during the quieter times, you can get an awesome workout in!
Fantastic experience: Great place to go if you want to work out during odd hours of the night or even very, very early in the morning.
Fantastic experience: Love this gym.
Fantastic experience: Good place to work out. Place can get a little busy. Open early and parking lot is always full.
Fantastic experience: They have just about everything and the hours are great.
Fantastic experience: Awsome place, very clean, equipment always clean and usable
Negative experience: They always take all the good equipment to the precious officer's gym. Too small. Great staff though. By the way, the cleaning ladies like to lock the bathroom and locker room. So if you need your bag or need to use the bathroom to go to work, just accept that you're going to be late for work... You're screwed. Also, they close at 9pm and open at 6am on weekends.... 9hrs is plenty of time to clean. But I guess it has to be done during prime time.
Negative experience: Pretty good place to workout. Have everything I need. The 1 hour limit is pointless honestly. Gyms off base dont have that restriction yet are still going perfectly
Negative experience: Way to packed all the time. Base NEEDS another gym in the lower enlisted barracks area.
Positive experience: 5/10 decent bathroom. It leans towards the clean side, has cheap toilet paper and some soap dispensers are broke
Positive experience: Good service
Negative experience: Smallest gym I've ever been in compared to all the other Marine Corps/Navy gyms. Way too pack as well. Need more cable machines and better/cleaner showers.
Positive experience: Smells like protien and creatine farts. If that is your thing, the equipment is great.
Positive experience: I love that it is open 24 hrs most days of the week. Wish they had more stairmasters but this facility offers so much I cant achieve just working out at home.
Negative experience: not clean and smells absolutely terrible. I get that it’s a gym but it smells like the inside of a rat.
Fantastic experience: I love this gym. Although it can become crowded at times, it's worth mustering through the extra bodies to get your workout in!
Fantastic experience: 1. Atmosphere sucks for the most part. Some cool gym bros no doubt ,but by enlarge populated by future Arnold champions(sarcasm) 2. Atmospshere is great and the good.people are awesome. 3. Staff is amazing and super friendly. 5. Equipment is used, nut ita a gym so that's good 6. With every lift the spirit of chesty puller fills my a arms and delivers a pump that can only be akin to a platoon of grunts laying hate amd discontent down range
Fantastic experience: Gym is life
Negative experience: I left this gym while on active duty. It is not 24/7 which is horrible for an air station that has many people on night crew. There's always some young devil pup who wont shut up. The cardio equipment is not well upkept. The lovely wives like to come and sit on the equipment and take 10 minute breaks in between each set...... :/ I go to snap now. Planet Fitness is very nice too though.
Positive experience: it can feel small at times but it gets the job done and the staff are great .
Positive experience: Overall ok. Great equipment just don't go during rush hour. However kind of irritated. They open Monday and twelve am but not a would is here sucks because i already took my preworkout for a pump that i guess is going to have to wait a couple hours
Positive experience: Fix your cardio machines please! Bikes are loud and resistance is shaky.
Negative experience: The equipment in this gym is great and I love the atmosphere. HOWEVER, I’m giving this gym 2 stars because I walked in today and was asked to leave because you could see the side of my sports bra. The woman at the front desk said “Your bra is showing” and I addressed her with “Okay” and continued into the women’s locker room to use the restroom. She then follows me into the locker room and tells me that I need to either change my shirt or leave. If the policy needs to be discussed, it can be discussed at the front desk. Following someone into the locker room is unnecessary and absolutely unprofessional. I’ve never had any problems with the staff about my clothing choice until today. As far as the policies for clothing here, I’ve never seen a male have to leave because of his chest showing and there are plenty of males who frequent this gym wearing half- shirts that expose the sides of their stomachs and chest. I would also like to mention that on the walls of the gym there are pictures of athletes in sports bras and the males are depicted with no shirts on at all. It seems quite hypocritical to ask a woman to leave when you can see the side of her sports bra (AND THE REST OF HER BODY IS COMPLETELY COVERED), yet you have wall art that shows women in merely their sports bras. The side of my sports bra wasn’t offending anyone and it certainly shouldn’t have been a reason to make me leave. Love the gym, but this is an issue that needs to be addressed.
Positive experience: Almost always crowded. Place has only 3 squat racks which usually have a line of Marines waiting. If you can go during off hours, you'll get through your work out much more quickly. WiFi service is free but frequently cuts in and out. Look on the desk for the wifi username and password, the main room and the cardio room have different accounts.
Positive experience: It's alright
Positive experience: It's ok
Positive experience: Busy but has good hours
Positive experience: The staff is nice and the equipment is all pretty new and well maintained, but it's usually pretty crowded. Additionally they had to cut down the hours of operation recently which can be a pain for a busy work schedule.
Positive experience: Staff and equipment are very nice, but the amount of people at rush hour makes me want go to McDonald’s
Fantastic experience: Gains, gainz, gainz!
Fantastic experience: The new renovations give this 5 stars. Of course it's packed but being open 24/7 is amazing.
Positive experience: Largest air Base for the Marines, smallest gym. Raising PT standards but not the place to train. Can't even stay open 24 hours, have to pay for a place out in town to workout out of the crazy peak periods on base. Make the HITT equipment/area more accessible for 24/7 use!
Positive experience: Good mix between free weights and machines. Open 24 hours monday to thursday and closes at 2100 friday to sunday. A good number of cardio machines in the back area. Avoid during peak business hours at 1700-2000 during weekdays
Negative experience: Says open 24/7 but here I am at 0430 and it's locked with the lights off.
Positive experience: ...can't complain...nice gym..
Positive experience: Amazing Place Great Customer Service
Positive experience: Much better now that they have new treadmills but still super tight with machines on top of machines. Bad layout overall.
Positive experience: Can't beat 24/7 gym access. Has everything you need. Once you figure out the best times to go when it's not packed you won't have any complaints.
Positive experience: It's got a lot of equipment but usually packed.
Fantastic experience: Good times at the Devil Dog gym!!! A reminder of better days gone by.
Fantastic experience: Great facility. Confirmed open 24hrs!
Fantastic experience: 24/7 says it all
