Snap Fitness Baton Rouge: Opinions
Positive experience: I tried to go get a workout on but my card wasn't working. There was a note on the door saying that you had to email them and let them know what was going on fill out some type of paper electronically and they would take care of it. So this was in one sense not their faults I guess you could say it was mine because I was not aware of the change and if I were a frequent participant I probably would have known before today
Fantastic experience: Not crowded at all. You cant join or cancel your membership because nobody is ever working there. Very good gym
Negative experience: Very poor responsiveness. I have been calling and going to the Coursey Blvd location for the past month to cancel my membership. I’ve even reached out to the corporate office for assistance but getting nowhere. I was told by a staff member at the Denham Springs gym that the Coursey Blvd location “has a management problem”. I’m being charged for services as of today.
Negative experience: The gentleman that works there is very nice and knowledgeable however this is the dirtiest gym I've ever been to. The treadmills are dirty and the floors are absolutely filthy. This place needs a facelift! I'm glad I'm getting my membership as a perk through my insurance because I certainly wouldn't pay to attend.
Positive experience: Too small , outdated. Staff is friendly.
Positive experience: Good experience. Site is clean cool environment, plenty options on equipment.
Fantastic experience: *NEW MANAGEMENT* I’ve read these reviews a multitude of times, and they were mostly very accurate. Snap Coursey was dirty, broken, and poorly maintained. However, with the help of the valid criticisms in these reviews and the input of our loyal members, we’ve come a LONG way in the past few months. I sincerely hope that those of you reading come by and see that progress for yourself and hopefully give us some critiques on how we can continue to improve to better serve those of you who wish to join us. I wish you all the best and hope to see soon, -Daniel
Positive experience: equipment was pretty outdated/limited and smelled bad , bathrooms were not clean, besides that daniel was great, the atmosphere was amazing and it has a family setting
Fantastic experience: The young man that works there during the day is very helpful. Always willing to assist. Also the gym has never been as tidy regardless of the crowd. Amazing service
Positive experience: Love it. It isn't often that it gets too busy.

Fantastic experience: Just joined very pleased. Good management.
Fantastic experience: Snap Fitness on Coursey in Baton Rouge is a great place to workout. I feel like we’re a family at Snap Fitness on Coursey. The daily regulars are always there to great me with a smile and a helpful pointer on a workout or two. The staff is great as well. The manager does a great job making sure the equipment is serviced and clean. Plus, there is always sanitation spray and paper towels available to keep things clean and safe during the pandemic. I’d recommend Snap Fitness on Coursey to anyone who wants to feel welcomed and supported during their workout journey.

Fantastic experience: The new manager is wonderful and super supportive!
Fantastic experience: I'm gonna try attending the fitness center more.
Fantastic experience: Small gym with enough space to accomplish your workout. Well run and now CLEAN.
Fantastic experience: Great place to work out.
Fantastic experience: Positive: Communication , Professionalism , Quality
Fantastic experience: Reagan is a big dog at what she does!
Negative experience: This gym isn’t clean. I mean we just went through a pandemic it is absolutely filthy in there. I don’t understand I can go to planet fitness spend 10 bucks and that place is spotless . I spend double here and it looks like the floor hasn’t been cleaned in months. If the owner is reading please clean up this place to make more comfortable for us.
Hey Ashra! My members' comfort being a concern is what's going on- we're doing remodels! I mention it on every tour, and preemptively apologize about any extra dust that gets kicked up on any given day. Thank you for caring about everyone's health, and if you ever have any other questions or concerns you want to be sure I see, I did give you a card with the clubs email. Feel free to grab another one from my desk!
Fantastic experience: New ownership really makes a huge difference! Very welcoming staff that always greets you with a smile on their face! Members are very nice and there is no “gym-timidation” from anyone. Love working out here!
Fantastic experience: Reagan is great! She is always so positive. Sometimes my self esteem needs a boost and she is there to encourage me.
Fantastic experience: Great Gym & Great Management. I feel welcomed and fit in at this gym. Reagan, the manager is right there by the phone to answer any questions that I have. Great training program as well.

Negative experience: I had a question for a staff member but no one is ever in the office to pick up phone or open door.
Negative experience: As a snap fitness member with my key card I drove across town to check out this gym today. Not only is there no key card swipe to allow entrance for snap members, there were no employees to open the door for me. This was at 10am on a Friday. I’ll be honest, it doesn’t look very nice anyway. Highly recommend the ones in Denham, Watson, and Central.
Negative experience: Bike has been broken for awhile now. I asked to have it repaired to no avail. There is no larger leg press like they had at jefferson location. Cramped space.
Negative experience: Got an email saying “thank you for signing your documents” after they resigned me up for a membership I canceled a year ago.
Negative experience: I reviewed this place once before but I suppose they didn’t like it is they removed it. This gym is disgusting. It’s very obvious the owners have NO pride in ownership. It’s small and very very gross and unclean on the inside. Not to mention how foul and nasty the bathroom is. The entire place smells terrible. It’s a shame. But I enjoy my other way larger and clean location I go to regularly. Just came to this one with a friend once. DONT GO TO THIs OnE!
Negative experience: All I can say is: if you're contemplating buying the 1-2 month membership through Groupon, be prepared to pay another $25 for the scan card which you have to get in order to get in but they don't tell you until you get there.
Negative experience: I had my membership here with Healthway Fitness through my Bluecross Insurance. So I went to the gym per usual at night & my card didn’t work. How embarrassing! I called the next day and they informed they no longer accept the Healthway. A courtesy call would of been nice to the customers who have it. Complete waste of drive over there and not even an apology was offered. My gf likes this gym & would of considered maybe paying, but that’s a NO now!
Positive experience: Needs better equipment
Fantastic experience: I don’t think I’ve ever had a gym go so far out of there way to help me. Especially impressive since I wasn’t their customer!!!!
Fantastic experience: Staff is great. Place is kept up. Much better than the big box gyms around town!!!
Negative experience: There are some really nice Snap Fitness gyms around town, but this is definitely NOT one of them. I have been a member of Snap Fitness for the past couple years and go to the gym 5 days a week. I travel for work regularly; I have visited at least 20 different snap locations over the past couple years and this is the worst one I have seen. I moved recently, and this snap is only a couple minutes from my house, but I will often drive the extra 15-20 minutes to go to the excellent Baton Rouge (Jefferson), Prairieville (Hwy 42), or Gonzales East Creek (Hwy 44) locations instead so I can get a good workout. The place is run down. See the attached pictures. There is a nice squat rack and there is a good selection of kettlebells, but that's about where it ends. There is an area in the back corner where you can do deadlifts, but the floor is so worn away the concrete is showing in places and the rubber floor covering is uneven and moves under your feet. You need sure footing when lifting heavy! There are multiple places around the gym where the floor is uneven. Benches wobble and your footing is off if you step in the dip while exercising. The hand straps for the cable crossover are severely frayed and are an injury waiting to happen. The only lat pulldown machine is a cybex pulldown that has an awkward feel as your hands move outward as you pull down. I did not finish my sets on this machine due to the strain on my shoulders. A plate loaded leg press would be nice but there's not one here. There is a cable row but attachments are limited. Treadmills and arc trainers are showing their age. There is an ab coaster taking up precious floor space in the middle of the gym. I wonder how many other snaps have one. The sink looks like it has never been washed and the bathroom floor around the toilet is disgusting. I waited until i had worked out at this gym several times before I wrote a review. Hopefully the owners take notice and make some improvements as it is a convenient location and I would hate to take my membership to the nearby competitor just because of this one location.
Negative experience: I really wish I could rate this place 1 star and it actually affect the ratings. Cameron who “runs” this place is a total douche, who isn’t even remotely in good shape but feels comfortable trying to give people fitness advice during his very lame attempt at a sales pitch. It’s comical/offensive that he thought trying to compare single moms who make time to work out to people who simply want to cancel their membership, which by the way is way too expensive for what you get here. The comparison was his extremely lame attempt to try to get me not to cancel my membership and make money off of me. Ha!! I only signed up for the 30 day Groupon trial for $10 to see if this extremely small, completely out of the way site would even be worth my time and it wasn’t. Don’t waste your time going here or listening to this fatso(Cameron) try to tell you bogus opinions on how to lift or live. This clown actually said that lifting heavier weight is directly tied to living a longer life and that you can’t get a good lower body workout unless you have a squat rack Lol!! You’ve got to be kidding me!! On top of all of this he actually tried to not give me a copy of the cancellation paperwork. I could only imagine the hoops I would have had to jump through when he charged me illegally for a membership. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY SIGNING UP HERE THIS PLACE IS A JOKE!!
Negative experience: This location gets the one star, I’m sure the other locations are just fine. The issue with this one is only based on one thing - the kid that “manages” the place. My husband went to get a membership and told the kid he’s heading off to the Army soon and wants to make sure he’s prepared for it physically. This boy then proceeds to tell my husband he’s in the Army and thinks it would be insane for somebody my husbands age (34) to even consider joining. It’s going to be hard on his body, he can’t keep up with 18 year olds, basic will be way too hard, you’re just too old etc. He went on to say that there’s really no reason to do your best in boot camp anyway because you don’t get anything for it but a pat on the back. Husband listens to all this very politely, then asks the kid about his own military experience. Where did you go for boot camp? Where were you stationed? Have you ever been deployed? But he can’t answer those questions. Why? Because he’s not in the Army. He does one weekend a month with the National Guard (which is great but not in this scenario). Here’s the best part: my husband IS in the Army. This is his third go. He has already done two tours in Afghanistan. His family has been in the military for generations. It was so embarrassing that he didn’t even bother to share any of that info with this poor boy. Needless to say, definitely won’t be using this place. Ever. Also, this same kid does his own workout while he’s on the clock so your schedule needs to be convenient for him.
Fantastic experience: I really like this gym. It’s not very big, but it’s well equipped and everyone is very friendly.
Negative experience: Ok, let me explain how crappy of a Groupon and Business model they are proposing. I was a paying member of this Snap location from 2008 to 2014. I decided to get a Groupon with the idea of signing back on later. Well, here are the issues with that. Short story, DON'T EVEN BOTHER and DON'T BE A MEMBER OF THIS LOCATION. Sign on at ANY other location. Problem 1 - You need to make an appointment that takes all of 15 minutes that apparently only ONE person can do - aka Cameron. I went at lunch time and he didn't have time for me (had current appointment) and told me to come back at 4:30 same day. I did with traffic slowing me down. So if you must go, call ahead. You aren't important otherwise. Problem 2 - Here is the business model. They have no compassion for the cheap price you paid on the Groupon. Where they INSIST on making their money UPFRONT is on the $25 keycard you HAVE to buy. I already had one, and he just wasn't ok with that. It pulled up my old information and he said I wasn't a new member. Uhhmm, I'm not a current member nor have a been one for years. I sold that house last year even. Basically who cares. I gave that place $500/year for 6 years straight only to get a middle finger basically. Problem 2 A - IMPORTANT - READ THIS IF NOTHING ELSE ... I didn't make it to this level of the game, but here is where they will try and get their money off of you. In order to fully sign on, they only restrict you to the COURSEY location ONLY. You can not go to any other locations. They take your credit card information as a hold to charge at a later time....The only time the single location restriction is lifted is at the end of the two month promotion period at which they HOPE you forget to cancel so they can SLAM you with a $50 registration fee (didn't we do this 2 month prior though?) and ALSO a $29.99+tax membership fee. By the time you notice, it is too late... even if you cancel then and there, you are on the hook for $80+ dollars. So what if you walk away and leave? They have YOU and ANY of the hundreds of Groupon buyers that don't put an alarm on their calendar to cancel membership. That is a sleazy and just evil business model. If that's the only way you can thrive as a business, you shouldn't be in business, period. That is worse than a slimy used car dealership. Silver lining is I didn't sign on for that nonsense anyhow, but I HOPE that Groupon buyers read this and RUN AWAY. As far as Snap Fitness goes as a gym, it in itself is great and convenient. Sign on ANYWHERE ELSE though!!! Don't give this place any of your money. Go a little further to the one on Highland if you can. It is much larger with newer nicer equipment. It is quite sad what the Coursey location has turned into in its transfer of ownership. Clearly they aren't in it for the long haul.
Negative experience: Hating I bought the Groupon. The overall feel doesn't feel good. There are approximately 6 treadmills and only one worked and that one was barely working. Not many machines, so there may be a wait time, depending on how many people are there. Waiting for the Y to open back up! Ugh!
Negative experience: I purchased the Groupon 2 month membership. After leaving a couple messages without someone calling me back, I was finally able to speak to the manager. I found him rude and condescending and he didn't care if he helped me or not. I thought the premise was to get people in and make them happy, so they wouldn't want to leave. I was wrong! I will forfeit my $15 to never have to deal with this business. No worries, I won't be back.
