While the gym has received high praise for its challenging climbing routes and well-kept facilities, some users have noted that the gym can get crowded, particularly during family events, which may lead to safety concerns. Others have expressed the need for better air conditioning and highlighted the firmness of the bouldering mats as an area for improvement.
Despite minor setbacks, Movement The Hill is well-regarded for its quality, creativity in routesetting, and a wide array of activities. It is undoubtedly a fantastic destination for bouldering enthusiasts and anyone looking to maintain an active lifestyle!
Movement The Hill: Opinions

Fantastic experience: This urban, stylish bouldering gym features plenty of natural sunlight, spacious layouts, and well-maintained facilities, including clean showers and a cozy outdoor balcony. The gym is equipped with a variety of exercise instruments, and the staff are friendly and helpful. My son attended the 1.5-hour kids’ climbing program on Saturday with Coach Ryan, where he learned bouldering basics, spent some time outdoors, and was guided to challenge himself on harder routes with instruction. Overall, it’s a fantastic gym for bouldering or general fitness, with a welcoming atmosphere—we’ll definitely be back!
Fantastic experience: Great classes and bouldering. Especially Emily and Jake’s Friday Acro Yoga class—which is half the reason I keep my membership.
Negative experience: I normally love going to this gym but the experience lately is just awful. I don’t mind a gym being busy but when it’s overrun with kids with fathers and mothers who won’t keep their kids from running around in front of and under people trying to climb, then it’s almost impossible to enjoy. It’s dangerous for the kids and the climbers.
Hey Gabriel! Thank you for taking the time to let me know about this, and I'm sorry this has been your experience lately. We do have a lot of kids that visit the space, and while we want them and y'all to have a good time at the gym, y'all sharing when you see things like this helps us better mind the safety of everyone involved as well. I'll get with the team and see how we can do better by our community to help us all be more safe. If you have more you'd like to share, you can reach out to the gym and ask for me and I'd love to chat. Thank you! - Adam Hughes, Gym Director
Fantastic experience: Awesome facility that is clean and friendly.
Positive experience: Love this gym but can you guys PLEASE turn on the AC? It was nearly 86 degrees in there tonight when I went climbing with friends. It's not the first time that its been hot either.
Hey Ryan! Glad you love the space, and we are happy to have you! Sadly, the AC is on already, but it's had some breaks that we are trying to fix. I'm hopeful it'll be fixed sooner than later, and I'll be emailing the community to keep y'all updated. If you have questions or anything else you'd like to share, you can call the gym and ask for me! - Adam Hughes, Gym Director
Fantastic experience: I just got into climbing and have checked out gyms in Texas, California, and New York. This place is one of my favorites—it's clean, spacious, and the people are really nice.
Howdy Hope! Appreciate the kind words, and glad you had a great time!
Fantastic experience: Great bouldering!
Thanks for the "ribbiting" review! :D
Negative experience: Misleading promotions.
Hey Alex, thank you for sharing your thoughts. My name is Adam Hughes and I am the Gym Director here at The Hill. I'd love to hear more from you so we can use that information for our future promos. You can reach me at [email protected] or call up at the gym and ask for me. I appreciate your time!
Fantastic experience: One of the best gyms in the chain, clean, friendly staff and centrally located on 75. Highly recommend - and there’s a sauna!
Fantastic experience: Super fun bouldering gym with a great section for little kids. Lots of areas to explore, regularly updated wall patterns, and super friendly staff. They seem to offer great deals and sales to make it easy to check out the place as well.
Fantastic experience: The membership here is a little on the pricey side, but the bouldering here is really fun, and they have a lot of sister locations that are included in the membership. If you go, make sure to take advantage of the included yoga/fitness classes.
Fantastic experience: Brian is amazing , took the intro to rock climbing class and he was very helpful, informative, and supportive. Ask for him.
Negative experience: Accirding to my family, Indianapolis North Mass Boulder is better. Also, since my husband and son were climbing and I wasn't, I had to sit outside the building... I wasn't even allowed to pee first! Guess I could've walked around the shops but they were really expensive and also wouldn't let me use the restroom. At least they let me sit outside on under their awning, out of the rain.
Hi Rita! My name is Adam and I am the Gym Director at The Hill. Sorry to hear that was your experience! Sounds like we didn't communicate clearly our standards for climbing versus spectating, but with our normal waiver being filled out you can absolutely hang out in the gym, even if you aren't climbing. We also have an all-gender bathroom right next to the desk, that even if you weren't staying you are welcome to use, so I appreciate your letting us know what happened to you so I can be sure my team is making that clear. If you have additional feedback, please give a call to the gym and ask for Adam Hughes!
Fantastic experience: Great Gym!
Positive experience: Very clean and friendly place. The setting is definitely comp-style, which I don’t love but normally am ok with. It doesn’t mix well at all with the incredibly stiff the mats though. Sendy moves at the top of the wall aren’t very fun whenever failure means getting your knees taken out.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely love Movement! Their gyms are fresh and new, the aesthetic is really chill, and the staff are really passionate. The Hill in particular only has bouldering, so it's a cheap and easy way to get into climbing. The routesetting honestly feels a bit better and more creative here than the Design District as well. Each gym is only really worth the price if you put in the effort. Just climbing can't give you a full, balanced workout, so try the gym and yoga sessions too.
Fantastic experience: One of my favorite climbing gyms. The staff is always excited and happy to be there. My favorite is their yoga classes, the instructors are all wonderful. They really focus on building community which makes you want to come back for more. Highly recommend getting a membership.
Fantastic experience: Love the community Movement has built here. The staff and instructors are all friendly and helpful. I had never climbed or practiced yoga before joining but everyone was so welcoming and have created a wonderful learning environment.
Hey Corbin! Thank you for being a part of our community!
Fantastic experience: This location has a TON of bouldering routes. My wife and I did the Intro to Bouldering class with Travis, and he was a fantastic teacher! He did a great job showing us the basics and also giving pointers. The staff was also great helping us choose our new climbing shoes. Highly recommend this location!
Hey Reed! Thanks for the shout-out for Travis, and psyched to see y'all learned a lot. See you around the gym! - Adam Hughes, Gym Director
Fantastic experience: Wonderful gum, especially if you are cross training for climbing and crew.
Fantastic experience: Great place to boulder!
Fantastic experience: I am one of those people who used to climb at Summit until Movement bought them out. At first, I was really sad about the change, but honestly, that changed my first time stepping into Movement. Movement has everything that I want in a gym, and its clean! The workout equipment is perfect for functional fitness, they have workout classes and yoga classes, tons of routes to climb, and a locker room with showers AND a sauna! I seriously love this place! The gym area is amazing and has everything I could want to workout with besides a weighted jump rope. The climbing routes are harder than Summit was, which is a little defeating and not really for beginners, but still doable. The climbing walls do scratch you up a bit though unfortunately. I haven't been able to climb a single time without getting scrapped. Also, there is no top ropeing, which I don't care about but others do. But the environment is amazing and I would never go back to Summit even if it did reopen. I get all the benefits of a climbing gym, WITH all the amenities of a workout gym. I'm extremely happy about being a member here.
Positive experience: Great gym with so many activities and classes to choose from. They always have something going on. Acro Yoga on Friday is the class that made me check it out theni found out the various things you can do in this gym. A bit pricy tho, but if you enroll in introductory classes packages will give you the best deal. They also have a either first class free or a full day pass free, check their website . Staff is very friendly.they got a nice patio area too.
Positive experience: This gym could be improved by adding more weight and machine.
Positive experience: Great gym, well equipted, routes change semi frequently, staff is friendly, but those bouldering mats are extremely firm and hurt. Might as well fall on grass. It makes me miss Summit because, even though it was a less updated gym, at least I didn't get hurt every time I fell trying a new project. Also, I would not recommend bouldering classes. Went to two of them, and the instructor gave zero tips. Just ended up leaving because you can learn more from watching random climbers send routes.
Fantastic experience: I have been to this gym 3-4 times. It’s one of my favorite. The staff are always perky and got that high on life energy. I joined Summit initially, since they were acquired by Movement. I have been coming here quite a bit. They got quite a variety of things to do if you get bored easily like me. Yoga, circuits classes, and climbing of course. Highly recommend it if you are considering Memership. Good luck!
Fantastic experience: Beautiful space for any kind of workout. Loved it!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym, great staff. The walls are well made and have significantly improved my climbing abilities, 100% for experienced and beginner climbers
Appreciate the kind words, Lucas, and glad you had a great time!
Fantastic experience: Awesome staff, great community of climbers, amazing facilities
Hey Walker! Thank you for your feedback and glad you enjoyed the space!
Positive experience: Great bouldering, friendly staff, clean locker rooms and sauna. Also, dedicated yoga room though Ive never tried that. My only criticism is that their weight room is small and there are nightly workout classes that take place in the weight room. When the classes are happening, there is no good demarcation between the class and the rest of the people lifting. Frequently, if I’m on the squat rack, class members are walking into the rack I’m using to pull weights off the wall/ put them back. It’s distracting and potentially dangerous as they come pretty close to bumping into you while you’re squatting/benching etc. My recommendation is to setup an additional weight plate hanger at the far end near where the classes usually take place to stop this issue.
Hi Zac! Glad you love the space and the community, and appreciate your feedback. I will get with our team and share this so we can see about better serving y'all lifting and the group classes. Thank you and have a great day!
Fantastic experience: This is a welcoming, inclusive space for all climbing levels & all climbers. I’m proud to call it MY rock climbing gym.
We are proud to have you be a part of our community! Thank you so much for your feedback and glad you enjoy the space!
Fantastic experience: Love this place!
Hey Peter! Thank you for leaving us the kind words. Glad you had a great time!
Fantastic experience: Simply the best bouldering in DFW. Beautiful gym with a great layout, great holds, multiple national level setters, great fitness area, awesome staff. It has it all — and my wife and I have been to A LOT of bouldering gyms around the country. Highly recommend for core climbers, but it’s also a great place to bring new climbers!
Hi Mark! Appreciate you sharing your experience, and happy to hear you enjoyed the space!
Positive experience: Bouldering only gym. This gym is way better than my hometown gym in Rockville, MD. The Kilter boards are awesome! The bouldering problems are enjoyable for my needs. The weight room is solid! There is a lot of space. The racks and weights are in good condition. There are plenty of rowers, skiers and assault bikes. The only thing they are missing in my opinion is a Torque sled (or similar) and a 45 degree back extension…that’s why I gave 4 stars…
Hey Jairus, thank you for taking the time to leave a review and share your experience! Glad you had a great time!
Positive experience: This gym has one of the best weight rooms I've ever seen, but unfortunately the dumbells are organized in a very dangerous manner. The heaviest dumbbells are on the lowest rack, placing a lifter in an extremely compromising position when un/re-racking weights. They should be placed on the middle tier of the rack, closer to hip height. I had to modify my normal workout (which works at other Movement locations) to accommodate this. Please reorganize before someone gets seriously hurt! I love Movement gyms, and this location is spectacular, but had to give it 4/5 stars for this reason.
Hey Scott! Thank you for your review and the feedback. We will take a look at the weight arrangement with this in mind and see where we need to make changes. When you're in the gym next, let's see if you and I can connect about this. Have a good one! - Adam
Fantastic experience: This place was amazing. Took my son there for a "kids climb" event. Staff was friendly, and the common areas were spotless.
Fantastic experience: Amazing routesetting. Has a great workout section and training area. Its also very aesthetic inside with lots of natural lighting.
Fantastic experience: Wow what a tremendous place. Lots of types of activities and a great gym. Will be going back.
Fantastic experience: Great bouldering gym with a ton of walls, and they also have a good-sized weights section with squat racks, dumbbells up to 100lbs, a few machines, etc. I've been to the other climbing gyms in the Dallas area and I like the route setting at this gym the best. There are a lot of different types of problems here ranging from crimpy ones to dynos. Everyone here is friendly and the facilities are nice and clean
Positive experience: I would not recommend for kids. This gym pushes social agendas that are against protecting children and allowing them to just be children. I would’ve been a member here in a heartbeat along with my entire family because the facilities are actually very nice, but unfortunately they care more about indoctrinating than fitness and exercise.
Hey Chad, thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We believe that every person, no matter what age, should be able to climb as they are, and that inclusion is work that we all need to do. We want to be a space where we can build bridges and community, and our messaging reflects that. We appreciate your kind words about the facility. I’d love to connect with you further. Call me at the gym anytime! - Adam
Negative experience: This is the first review I have ever written!!! I do not like leaving reviews because I understand businesses have off days. That being said DO NOT USE THIS GYM. I was kicked out of this gym LITERRALLY out into the pouring rain because supposedly they were preparing for a climbing competition. I asked if I could possibly stay until the rain died down, and I was told absolutely not. This was during normal business hours and I did not and had not ever shown any sign of disagreeability. However the disdain and disrespect I felt toward me from the director, I have experienced previously in life being an African American man. After the incident I immediately canceled my membership. I came to this gym because it gives the vibes of an accepting environment, but I was sadly mistaken.
Hey Charles, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and give us feedback on your experience. First and foremost, I want to apologize that you felt disrespected; that is not the experience we want to create. In preparation for the closure of the gym for the competition, we did our best to let our community know through signage around the gym, social media/website/Google, and email. We’re disappointed to hear that this communication didn’t make its way to you and would love feedback on how we could improve on relaying this information so something like this doesn’t happen again. I would love to continue this conversation if you’re open to it. I left a voicemail with you this morning, so please feel free to reach out whenever works best for you. Thanks again. Adam
Fantastic experience: This place is awesome. But these dumbbell racks are a lawsuit waiting to happen. An experienced lifter expecting *both* top and bottom rubber mounts to be installed where they should be (top mounts are missing) could easily crush their fingers on the metal rail as they set down the dumbbell.
Positive experience: Nice large bouldering gym with workout equipment and yoga. You won't feel crowded when a lot of people are climbing. Lots of air movement to keep you cool. Only negative is the holds do not get brushed off much. This causes some slipping of holds and yellow/ white holds starting to look the same.
Fantastic experience: Much larger than in the instagram and website photos. Came at 8am on a Saturday and had plenty of space to boulder. Route setting is good and atmosphere is solid. Super clean and will return again.
Positive experience: So let me start by saying I'm acclimated to the weather in Denver, but it's just too hot in there. Gym was set at 78 upstairs, but it was definitely warmer than that. Definitely not sending temps. I get that it's like 100 degrees outside, but most climbers do not want to fight sweaty palms inside. That's for the shoulder seasons outside. There are a lot of little things that are just ignored there, but it's a new gym. They can easily turn it around as it is a beautiful gym that required substantial investment to create. Training area could be improved too. Hang Boards are swappable up there, but you can only place them on pull-up bars that are meant to be jumped for. Pretty silly. Bathroom sinks were set to burning temps and couldn't be adjusted. Very much comp style bouldering. Not a ton of diversity in setting, but problems are challenging. I don't really like that a great many boulders are set with dynos or swing/fall catches in mind. Just my preference though. Honestly, I would be fully on board with a 4.5-5 star rating if the gym was <73 degrees. I really don't like my workouts indoors limited to my skin on my hands falling apart due to fighting sweat with excessive chalk.
Fantastic experience: Everything you want in a climbing gym: weight lifting, a decent variety of exercise machines, showers, and, most importantly, good bouldering with a wide variety of challenging levels. Make sure to bring chalk, water, comfortable clothing that you won't mind looking like it hugged a sand storm, and climbing shoes if you don't want to rent from the gym (I recommend buying your own shoes if you climb regularly since the rent shoe quality is mediocre). Great staff and taught classes too.
Positive experience: I got a day pass and bouldered for ~2 hours. The only main gripe I have is that they decided to use the stiffest mats they could find for some reason? The closest stiffness comparison is a boxspring. I'm now having to think about "I hope I don't sprain my ankle if I miss this" when I'm finishing a boulder, whereas it's never been an issue at any other gym. Maybe it's to encourage people to be more aware of how they're falling? IDK, but it's made me have second thoughts about doing routes with more sketchy moves. I feel it's also worth pointing out even though I personally don't mind, their grading system very, very vague. If you l;ike to track your progress through specific grades, you won't find it here. Aside from that, this place has a lot to love. They have a ton of one-sided wall spaces, which don't get as crowded, and the boulders themselves tend to be on the longer side, which I generally think is a good thing. Lots of variety in the the types of holds with good emphasis on body positioning and lateral movements, and the routes are sparsely packed, giving plenty of space. The people are friendly, and the indoor/outdoor aesthetic is beautiful and promotes a more chill environment and longer climbing sessions.
Fantastic experience: Very good rock climbing gym
Positive experience: Great gym. Could you guys keep the AC at 72 or lower? It’s so hot lately. It was 79 yesterday inside the gym. Thanks.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful bouldering gym with robust workout areas, exercise and yoga classes for climbers and non-climbers alike! Also in a very hip renewed area of north Dallas with checking out for restaurants and shops. Great staff - highly recommend!!!
Fantastic experience: This place is AWESOME. The rock climbing walls aren't very tall but they are a lot of fun. The sauna is relaxing. Whole place isn't crowded. Spacious locker room. Relaxed environment. Reasonably priced drinks at the front. Love it.
Negative experience: Puzzled by the front desk. A friend and I toured the facility a couple weeks ago, the front desk female told us the summer is $75 starting June 1. We asked if we could sign up and she told us not until June 1. We went today to sign up, 2 guys at the desk tell us we had to sign up BY June 1 They looked at us and said 'sorry'. Didn't offer us another plan, nothing. We walked out completely baffled that they did not try to sell us ANYTHING! And we were the only people in the lobby??? I guess they don't need members? Weird experience.
Fantastic experience: I have been a member for about 2 weeks now, this is the best gym in DFW no doubt. The people are awesome, the location is clean, modern and fun. I am so happy I decided to join!
Fantastic experience: Immaculate facility, beyond friendly staff, and a positive, welcoming atmosphere. I just got back into climbing and the routes are pretty fun! Now to tend to my shredded fingertips...
Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming here for a few months, great gym overall. The routes are challenging and changing frequently. Also, there is a fully equipped weight room, plus an entire workout area upstairs. Couldn’t ask for much more. (Including a photo dump of the place just before opening)
Fantastic experience: Positive: Communication , Professionalism , Quality , Value Superb bouldering and fitness space.
Fantastic experience: Superb bouldering and fitness space.
Fantastic experience: Great bouldering, and awesome clean gym. Glad to have more places to climb!
Hi Zac! Thanks for the kind words in your review, great bouldering and cleanliness are things we take pride in. We look forward to seeing you around the gym!
Fantastic experience: Rad gym! Check it out if you.re in the area
Hey Michael! Thanks so much for the review, we're glad to hear you enjoyed it! Looking forward to seeing you in the gym again soon.
Fantastic experience: everything is good.
Hey Owen! Thanks so much for stopping by, and taking the time to leave a review :) We're so glad you enjoyed Movement, and we look forward to seeing you in the gym again soon!
Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic gym. The setting is creative and just so good *chef's kiss". You can tell the setters have a good bit of experience. Facility is super clean of course and the location is really convenient being next to so many restaurants
Hi Tyler! Thanks so much for your kind words - we're so glad to hear that you enjoyed the gym. We're a huge fan of the setting too (we may or may not be bias..), the setters put in so much work to make it a fun and unique experience. Thanks again! We hope to see you soon.
Fantastic experience: This in inarguably the best gym in the DFW area. Starting at the friendliness of the staff when you walk in to the quality routes and impeccable training setup this gym is unsurpassed in quality. After thinking for a solid five minutes about anything I could complain about I could come up with nothing at all. Awesome place!
Hey James! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review, and for all of your kind words. We're so glad to hear that you had a great experience and enjoy it as much as we do. Hope to see you in the gym again soon!
Positive experience: Great place, awesome first set, as well as amazing people and environment. Only dislike about this place is hopefully going to be fixed soon- the lack of belts + chains for doing weighted pull ups + weighted dips, other training equipment like pinch blocks, as well as hand lotion. Keep up the great setting, guys!
Fantastic experience: Hands down the best bouldering gym in DFW. The sets flow and all grades feel similar to themselves, there's two workout areas and both are spacious, there's a lot of real estate for sets, the kilter board has angle controls by angle so there's no guess work, and it's located in a great shopping area. The one bad thing I can say is the parking will suck but that's not the gyms fault. The pricing is also pretty damn expensive but possibly worth it. The lockers provide towels, shampoo and body wash along with a sauna. It's like what all climbing gyms aspire to but fail to achieve it. If you want to rope this ain't it, that gym is being built still.
Hey Derek! Thanks so much for your kind words and for taking the time to leave a review. We're so glad to hear you enjoy the gym, and look forward to seeing you in the space again soon!
Fantastic experience: This gym is an absolute blast, and it’s way bigger than you would think. I took lots of pictures and uploaded them all in the photos section just to show how many bouldering sections they have, as well as their gym. I have been climbing for four years now, and am a long time summit member. I love this gym. The setting is solid, the vibe is solid, the walls are cheery and colorful and the gym is complete with most equipment that I would ever need. I would highly recommend at least trying the gym out two to three times to know how you feel about it.
Hi Mohit! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a genuine, thorough review, and for uploading those great photos. We're so glad to hear you had a great experience, and we look forward to seeing you around the gym again soon!
Fantastic experience: Great place! The staff was super friendly and the facility was extremely nice. The climbing routes are fun, technical, and plentiful. Ended up signing up for their membership and plan to go often! Also, shout out to the route planners for considering color placement. I'm red/green color blind and I didn't run into any routes of similar color. At other gyms I've come across red and orange routes overlapping which I'm unable to tell apart. 10/10 would recommend this place.
Hi Michael! Thank you so much for your kind words, and we're so excited to hear that you had a great experience. We look forward to seeing you in the gym soon!
Fantastic experience: Good use of the space.
Thanks so much, Scott! We look forward to seeing you in the space again soon.
Fantastic experience: Incredible gym! The boulder problems were very well thought out and creative. The grips were high quality and comfortable. The walls looked beautiful. The boulder problem were set so that they were not crowded yet there was still very high volume of problems. I appreciated the down climbing rungs as well. Also most of the cruxes of the boulders weren’t high on the wall so I never felt sketched out. Friendly staff as well. Phenomenal! Please expand to Lexington, Kentucky! We need a gym like this!
Hey Scott! Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review. We're so glad you enjoyed it, and enjoyed the set! We know the routesetters take a lot of pride in their work. We'll pass your kind words along, and hope to see you in the gym next time you're in town!
Fantastic experience: Gorgeous facility with more wall space than any other single gym in the area. Plenty of wall angles from overhang to slab, and the setting is fantastic. There are climbs that people with all ability levels can enjoy. Plus, the grading system here feels considerably harder than other gyms in the area, which is a good thing in my book! I've been climbing in DFW for 5 years and this is my new home gym.
Fantastic experience: Hey this place is pretty cool! No bias here :)! But for real though, it's awesome. I love all the staff and the people that come in. Route setters come up with interesting problems for all difficulty levels, and they do it often! Definitely come check it out if you're interested, and book a tour online if you can! Promise you won't be disappointed!
Hey Andrew! Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review (and unbiased, at that..) We're so glad you enjoy the space and we're lucky to have you as a part of our community. See you around the gym soon!
Positive experience: First impressions of this area are awesome. Cool little area with lots of spots to eat or drink or whatever. Could definitely hang out around here all day. The facility itself was absolutely amazing with a nice homey feel, plenty of places to lounge around and hang out with friends. The weightlifting/CrossFit/functional fitness/traditional gym areas were more than adequate, which is personally very refreshing for me coming from that background. Now, the real reason I’m making this review, and the reason I’m only allowing myself to give it three stars is the grading system. I am relatively new to climbing and have fallen completely in love with it. However, that being the case I still have a hard time knowing what route may or may not be too hard for me. I do also understand that every route grade has an acceptable range. That being the case though, i do not believe that a grade range should span 3-4 v grades. My current personal best is only a v5 and from what I’m coming to find out, is at a somewhat downgraded climbing facility. So the fact that a yellow route at Movement could be anywhere from a v2-v5 is not very conducive to my climbing experience, let alone my confidence. Which, may sound somewhat egotistical, but in a new sport, lack of intimidation and positive self confidence will go a long way in an individuals choice to continue, depending on your personality type. In addition, the grade ranges seemed to be completely off from what I’m used to. (Which I also understand is subjective) The blue routes being anywhere from a v0 to a v3 all seemed entirely too easy for me in a time where I’m currently warming up on a v2. Whereas a yellow route is supposed to start at v2, but could also be a v5, all seemed impossibly too hard. It was very discouraging and I ended up leaving that day frustrated. If I may make a suggestion I think it would be wise to not only use a color system in the grading of each route but to also assign a specific V grade to each route as well. I believe this would be helpful to the newcomers that may stop in like myself, and would create some definite membership opportunities. It’s my understanding that this gym just opened and it would be a shame to see such a large and all encompassing and downright impressive facility go under because it doesn’t actually invite and foster newcomers and instead seems to cater to veteran climbers.
Hey Mista! Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review, we really appreciate your feedback. We absolutely acknowledge our grading circuit is a little atypical, especially for DFW gyms. The inspiration for having such wide ranges in our circuit is to inspire climbers to try grades they may not have tried otherwise. For example, a v2 climber might not try a v3/4/5, but offering a circuit where these are all included, inspires the climber to try something maybe they wouldn't have tried otherwise. We understand it might not be for everyone, but we hope you will come back and give us another try. If you're ever curious *exactly* what a route is rated, you can use the KAYA app to distinguish grades within a circuit. Our routesetters update this weekly and offer a grade, so for example within the yellow circuit, you can see which ones they intended to be a v2 or v5, etc. Again, we appreciate your feedback! We hope to see you around the gym again soon.
Negative experience: Movement created a deal called $1/day, but had to rename it to $30 for 30 days for “unlimited climbing,” because they encountered people trying to pay for just 1 day of climbing when the (confusing) fine print indicated 30 days was the minimum. And the $30 for 30 days is not a membership. They don’t allow you a guest pass with this deal because “it’s not a membership.” They have poor communication with their advertisements and switch up their words on you to get you to pay more when you get to the front desk. They also did not clarify on the website or advertisements that you have to pay $6 to rent climbing shoes even if you have the $30 for 30 days They should have included a detail about “rental shoes are not included” with their “unlimited climbing” slogan. This is a very unfriendly tactic towards newcomers who would have to pay for rental shoes constantly during their 30 days, when they’re just newcomers in the sport. I can’t help but compare to other amazing local gyms that include rental shoes in their deals. I’m disappointed at the number of surprises I’ve encountered at this gym.
Hey Amanda! Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review, we appreciate your feedback. You are definitely right - things got lost in translation, and when we realized the language was confusing, we did our best to course-correct and clarify our intentions. We take your feedback to heart and will incorporate your suggestions into future promotions! Thanks again.
Hi Jacob! Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review - we appreciate your feedback! We're always looking for ways to improve and will take this feedback to the team. We have harnesses available at the front desk to be used to add/remove weight, feel free to swing by and borrow one! We're currently working on making pinch blocks available, hopefully we'll have these available soon. Hand lotion is available in the locker rooms at the sinks. Again, thank you so much for your feedback!
