Auburn Valley YMCA

Positive experience: Really enjoy coming to ymca but I don't like some of the staff that work there as they are sometimes rude.

Negative experience: Called the police on me & served me trespassing paperwork because I REFUSED to let them take a PHOTO of me. I have a VALID membership & VALID DRIVERS LICENSE. Even offered to let them take a pic of my DL! I've been a ymca member for over 3 years straight in 3 different states! Shame on you!

Fantastic experience: This place is awesome. I first meet Meli here, such a wonderful, respectful woman with a big bright smile along side with other two great employees, Chanell and Benjamin, ya'll are so great with customer service attitude during the times I travel. I hope the owner sees my review of how great ya'll are and is very lucky to have ya'll as his/her employees. They have such fantastic customer service skills!! I hope ya'll get a raise or an employee pizza party/something with a great job may Jesus Christ bless your beautiful hearts!! GO TEAM Y.M.C.A!!

Fantastic experience: Great staff, clean facility

Positive experience: Place NEEDS to be remodeled however the customer service is alright. I mainly like the kids area because it’s great to send my kids there. Some staff are great and genuinely care for the kids but some look like they don’t want to be there. I like that one Asian girl with black hair and brown ends, she’s nice and checks my kids in fast so I can get my workout in. Overall the place isn’t bad but for your money’s worth go to the Kent one where the place looks nicer unless you like smaller YMCAs.

Negative experience: Ymca before and after school care is a complete joke. They offer financial assistance but only take 20-30 dollars off. Over 700 a month on longer months. You make a cancelation and they require 14 days notice!!! Who plans out when you can't afford/ move. STILL taking out funds from my account for 2 weeks! My child wont even be there at the school.Thank you for taking funds from MY child ymca so great ZERO STARS IF I COULD.

Fantastic experience: I love this YMCA because it offers so many opportunities for me and my family to exercise, learn, and have fun. The pool is one of the best features. It is surprisingly warm, clean, and well-maintained. The locker rooms and restrooms are also great. They have showers to use before getting in the water, and a family locker room and bathrooms for convenience. Outside the pool, there is a rock climbing and play area for the kids where the parents can relax outside next to a cozy fireplace and vending machines. The swimming lessons are great too. I’ve seen a lot of improvement in my child’s swimming skills and confidence. The only downside is that the slide is not always available, which can be disappointing for the kids. But overall, this is an amazing YMCA that I would highly recommend to anyone. 9.7/10 Amazing.

Positive experience: (Update) The basketball court has just been re-coated with finish so it is finally clean and no longer slippery. I come here to play basketball every single day and have been coming since the end of 2010, and it has definitely been a journey. The fitness room is also great, and has as good variety of machines for both cardio, and weight lifting. There's less staff since Covid and they no longer offer towels like before.

Positive experience: The Pros are: I really enjoy this gym, and people are very friendly there. I have no issue with anyone and I am there to workout. If you see a guy who sometimes wears a blue hat, that’s me. As mean as everyone looks or assumes you are, once you get to know people, they are good people to talk to and to ask questions about workouts. Like there was this one guy who came up to me last year showing me how to do deadlifts. I really appreciated that! He is a good guy! There’s also other recreational activities such as basketball and swimming which are pretty cool. I’m thinking of going swimming sometime next week. Cons: This gym seems like it getting more crowded everyday. 04 days ago, I had to wait almost an hour to use a machine that I wanted to use. The other issue is, the weights aren’t organized. I sometimes have really bad OCD and there are times where I just have to fix it. These are one of the times. One example is, a 10 LB weight is where the 35LB weight goes, the 35LB is where the 60LB goes, etc. There’s not enough room for all of the machines. A guy instructing weight classes had to use a machine that I was using, so I was kind of forced to get off the machine. Please make it better for people who actually go there to work out and not have people wait an hour on a machine. It isn’t as easy as last year going here. Way too many people. Anyways, yeah. I feel like I had to address that. This isn’t to call anyone out, it just to address the fact that it’s getting to tight of a space and that it needs to be sized up more.

Negative experience: This place is useless, I sign up for membership, but later my kids were not permitted in bigger 4 feet swimming pool or slide, although their height is over 5.5 feet. I cancelled it after a week. with this membership money you could buy swimming pools every month more deeper, cleaner and place it your yard.

Negative experience: They never answer the phone. Then when you try and sign up for swim lessons on the day the schedule is released every single class is full, I had alarms set and went to sign up at 6am. This is how it’s been the last two years. Absolutely ridiculous. 10/10 would not recommend wasting your time with auburn valley ymca.

Fantastic experience: You get out of it what you put into it. Been a member since 2001 in Alaska and Washington. The Auburn facility has a fantastic staff of dedicated individuals who are always there to help

Fantastic experience: I used the pool with my 10-yr-old during a weekend and was impressed by how clean and well-maintained the pool was. It had a good temperature, perfect visibility, and looked recently resurfaced on the bottom. Nice staff and attentive lifeguards too. Only downsides: soap dispenser in shower requires a lot of pumps (like 15) just to get a small dollop of soap. Also, some of the lockers were creaky. I didn't use any other services in the facility. (During covid, when Kent YMCA is closed, Auburn is open, and vice versa, so this isn't my regular YMCA.) Outside this YMCA there is a massive tower + ropes course that looks extremely fun.

Negative experience: The lifegards are so mean and ugly they are so strict they do not lat you have fun so BAD DO NOT GO THARE THE WORST PLAS ON EARTH.

Fantastic experience: Great place for family and meeting new people. Everyone that works there has been very professional and friendly. Even being a lot of younger staff. Auburn YMCA is and has hired great people. Facility is clean and I’m a happy customer. Thank you.

Positive experience: The child watch women and men YMCA workers are mature adults who love the children that attend the YMCA. The front desk is exceptional. I suggest the cycling classes and Zumba classes. The facility is clean, nonjudgmental, and the community is culturally diverse. My only wish is that it was more updated in the gym.

Negative experience: Would be great if the power hungry life guards would actually let the kids be kids. They talk to you and the children disrespectfully. If you need my kid to move out of the way so you can do a swim test on another swimmer just ask them to move out of the way. You don't have to yell or be mean. Will not be returning.

Fantastic experience: Really great place for families to exercise, get to know new persons and find new activities. The staff is great and the child watch is really good the have more than two persons looking the children. And the adventure zone takes care of the older children.

Negative experience: Was going to this Y for a while until my kid was accused by their employee of something he didn't do. I got the general manager involved he didn't do much not even apologized. I am not coming back to this location. This is the worst YMCA.

Negative experience: Worst discrimination happened spanish staff helping spanish .No family value my one child forgot to bring her Id they don,t let her go my one child wantd to go inside when one is sitting outside.

Negative experience: Unfriendly Staff And Poor building. To get to the pool you have to walk through the showers in the locker rooms. The staff expects you to have an arbitrary blue card that means nothing to enter if you do not have a membership.

Fantastic experience: Great place I was offered a 7 day trial but after a couple I went to monthly it's a great place staff are friendly an so are the people. Treat people how you want to be treated

Fantastic experience: Great place for family, daugther member of this swimming team ymca, son as well taking swimming class on this ymca. i am.not really member but i am.a guess on monday high intense aerobic on this place. Great people. Cant ask anything more.

Negative experience: THE WORST YMCA IN WASHINGTON! My wife and I have visited twice trying out the area and both times have had small items stolen, but the rating is actually for the TERRIBLE STAFF. It happens, you go to a new YMCA and your locker gets raided, but for us we only left our shoes in the locker and the worst experience we've ever had came from dealing with the staff after. The entire mentality of this location is reactive and they do not care about their customers. They ask this ridiculous question; "would you like to fill out an incident report?" Instead of - "let's get you an incident report filed, here's the contact information you need for the individuals who handles these issues, etc... LAZY, CARELESS AND THEY GENUINELY DO NOT CARE. DO NOT VISIT, IT'S A COIN TOSS IF YOU'LL EVEN GET GREETED ENTERING.

Fantastic experience: I've been doing water aerobics and love the place. It's fun, clean and the staff is really down to earth. I tried the S. Hill location ....totally different and not in a good way. Sorry to the person who lost stuff from a locker. I bring my own lock so haven't had the problem. Word.

Positive experience: I really like this place we come atleast once a week! I do however hear multiple people expressing that they feel the lifeguards are judgmental! laughing at people, making funof them or picking when to follow rules sometimes and that is why i scored a lower score... People shouldnt feel like that. I have heard it from 5 multiple families from going so much.... They do however keep the facility clean and always have family activities, which is great!!!

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and Instructors. We have been here for swimming lessons and I give the props to the instructors that teach toddlers. It’s like herding cats, but they keep everyone safe and provide knowledge to the kiddos.

Negative experience: If you want to swim laps at this pool, you are out of luck. The schedule is different every. Single. Day. The swim team and swim lessons take up the entire day mostly, so no after-work swimming. Pretty much wasted a lot of time and money trying to make this work.

Positive experience: The Auburn Valley YMCA has a gym large enough to play two full court basketball games at once. Decently-large pool big enough for several families to enjoy. Good workout room with almost every gym equipment available. Very helpful trainers and members who are always respectful. Employees are mostly pleasant and welcomes all visitors. The only problem is that the Auburn Valley YMCA reserves the basketball gym for Zumba classes far too often. This is a great disservice to a great majority of members who come to play basketball. It's even more offensive when there is a decent size dance studio available for the sessions and they decide to take up the entire basketball gym that withholds that large number of members to little or no time to play basketball . If size is a problem, the Auburn Valley YMCA should consider reconstructing the dance studio to a much larger size appropriate for Zumba, and Karate which usually have a large quantity of people per class.
