Fantastic experience: Chris from the South YMCA helped get me signed up. He was awesome and I'm so grateful for him reaching out and making my experience so good. But it doesn't stop there. I drove to the downtown location after our call and officially joined. The woman that works there was great and took the time to show me around. We shared a few laughs and she was really cool. The other two people working there were also really great. I now work out six days a week, lead a healthy lifestyle and I see and feel so many positive changes everyday. Thanks YMCA!

Fantastic experience: The YMCA buildings in Buncombe county are the best centers I’ve ever experienced. Great for camps, parents night out, swimming lessons, team sports. a climbing wall, and a few other awesome features. Everything is inclusive in the membership fee.

Fantastic experience: Update- changed from 1 star to 5 star. After having a terrible experience with two staff members harassing my fiancé, the management was extremely understanding and helpful. Within two days the policy was clarified and updated to more appropriately meet member needs and societal norms. Very satisfied with the immediate and helpful response. Original Post- Dress code is subjective and honestly discriminatory. If you’re a guy you can wear basically whatever you want, take your shirt off, have spaghetti straps, anything goes. But for girls the two older ladies working the desk have very subjective policies. They will randomly tell you you are not allowed in the gym unless you change, While letting other girls wearing the same outfit walk right in… The policy states that the dress code is up to the discretion of the employees, but their discretion varies from day to day. They should have a strictly defined dress code at least.

Fantastic experience: I loooove the Asheville YMCA. I've been a member for about 7 months now. My only regret is not taking any of the classes. However, i think that's a testament to how many amenities are already provided. The weight rack is great as I can get my lifts in. And there are more than enough treadmills and cardio machines to use. I love that there are machines for a variety of skill levels too. I think that is so helpful for people who are just beginning to get into fitness. While I don't use the pool too often, I love that it is there for me to use when I want to. My favorite amenity is definitely the racquetball court. I often begin my workout with a match with my boyfriend. It's a fun way to bond before doing our separate workouts. I love finishing off my workout with the sauna! And the friendly staff is an added bonus. I don't talk a lot or interact with others when I workout, but I love the friendly staff that smile and say Hi and Bye, it really tops off my experience.

Fantastic experience: My wife and enjoy the diversity of classes - Yoga, Zumba, Groove, and TRX that the Y offers. In our retirement we have come to appreciate how all forms of exercise improve our quality of life. I attend Y classes 5-6 times per week; my wife does classes 3 times a week and on most of those she also does weight machines.

Fantastic experience: The Asheville YMCA has a wonderful staff, great program offerings, and an ever-expanding array of group exercise classes. It’s great that there is a dedicated lap pool as well as a secondary pool for the lessons and independent exercise. The front desk team strives to get to know the membership base and give them the best experience possible.

Fantastic experience: The staff is always friendly and helpful. The dressing rooms are modern and comfortable. I love the hot tub at the YMCA in Black Mnt. Its always a pleasure going to the gym.

Fantastic experience: Great gym with modern equipment and everything you need for cardio and weight training. Very friendly staff. Lots of great classes, basketball gym, two pools, and studios. It’s also very affordable, especially when compared to other gyms. I love the Y.

Positive experience: My husband and I stopped at this YMCA while on our trip and it was a great experience. The front desk staff were friendly and got us checked in quickly, and the facilities were clean and well-maintained. The locker rooms were downstairs and a bit cramped, but they had showers and lockers. This YMCA had plenty of equipment, including racks with mats to drop weights on, a variety of machines, a pool and a basketball court. However, there was not much space to do abs or any other exercises without weights. All in all, we would definitely return here!

Fantastic experience: I love this place. I live in Florida and visit 3 or 4 times a year forv5 days to 2 weeks. I consider the downtown Y my home base. The staff is friendly and helpful. For those of you who want a bigger pool, MAKE A CONTRIBUTION. The Y is a not for profit organization. It is dependent on corporate, community and individual contributions. I have had to wait for a lane but seldom more than a few minutes. They have handled Covid as well as any organization. Of all the suggestions and complaints I see listed here, my one suggestion in get involved. Get involved. I travel a bit and use Y's in Philadelphia, Massachusetts and Florida. The Asheville serves the community as well as any of the others. Very well run and professional and friendly staff.

Fantastic experience: I've been a patron of this place for a long time and I'm always impressed by how friendly, open, and approachable it is. Furthermore, the prices are very reasonable and they even offer free classes.

Positive experience: The personnel have consistently been affable and willing to assist me. It is an inviting and secure atmosphere to hang out and exercise.

Fantastic experience: I love going to the YMCA on Woodfin. I could go free to other places because my insurance company supports Silver sneakers. But I would rather pay the monthly fee to get the excellent classes and teachers, and variety of available classes and times. I take Yoga 3x a week and step aerobics twice a week. I also work out in the weight room. It’s great!

Fantastic experience: Great Customer Service, My Brother and I was able to come in and get a membership in about 30 mins and was satisfied with the service and it was done in a timely manner.

Fantastic experience: Always very clean. Great child care, staff is helpful and attentive for the most part. Had one bad experience of asking for information about swim classes, one brochure was shoved in my face and the employee just looked the other way and didn't care to ask if I had any other questions. Other than that it's a great environment to be in and the good definitely outweighs the bad (I attend a few times a week).

Fantastic experience: I've been going to the downtown Y for 8 years now. The staff has always treated me like family. Unlike the other reviewer, I have never had to wait to use the pool. Not once. We play basketball on Tuesdays and Thursdays and I also come work out, run on a treadmill and swim. Being a Y member makes me feel connected to the community and I have made many friends there. I also feel invigorated and energized all day when I start the day off at the Y.
