Our comment from FitFit United States about Open Gym Premier:

Open Gym Premier in Anaheim is a spacious sports facility featuring nine well-maintained basketball courts. While the facility offers a clean environment and a café with a decent variety of food and drinks, including popular brands like Starbucks, several users have noted significant drawbacks that impact the overall experience.

Positive Aspects:

  • Large, well-kept facility with multiple courts for various sports.
  • Clean restrooms and snack areas are regularly maintained.
  • Good selection of food and drinks available for purchase.
  • Friendly and dedicated staff, along with professional coaches.
  • Provides a great atmosphere during tournaments, fostering community and support for young athletes.

Areas for Improvement:

  • Inadequate air conditioning and ventilation, resulting in an uncomfortably hot environment.
  • High entrance and parking fees that many find excessive, limiting accessibility for families.
  • Limited seating for spectators, often causing crowding and obstructed views of games.
  • Admission policies and pricing can feel exploitative, particularly regarding the frequency and duration of games scheduled during tournaments.

Overall, while Open Gym Premier offers a range of facilities for sports enthusiasts, it faces criticism over its pricing structure and comfort levels, which are essential for parents and players alike. Many customers have expressed a desire for improvements, particularly concerning air circulation and seating arrangements, to enhance the visitor experience.

Negative experience: Spectators, be prepared to pay $25 per person and $20 for parking and bring your own fan. We had a Labor Day 3 day weekend tournament and could not believe how this gym was charging so much without A/C!!! It was unbearably hot and concerning for our players. Only place to find relief was inside food area. Hope we never had to return to this place.

Sunny Wang 1 month ago

Negative experience: There are decent amount of parking spaces. A cafe located inside of the gym with AC and snacks/hot food. The biggest downside is other than the cafeteria there’s no AC. The whole gym is so hot and the air flow is bad when there are events going on packed with people.

Varsity RHC 1 month ago

Negative experience: This is a review for the EBC camp not the OGP facility. This is not an angry parent review, this is a high school varsity coach and program director review. EBC camp is a hype train that actually does very little for the attendees. Attending 3 of these camps in 2 different locations and seeing that there is no positive take away for 99% of the players attending. Camp focuses on talking about and brining up the "NBA talent" that has come through the camp.... Reality check those guys would have made the league without attending the camp. For that to be the focus rather than how to make an elite high school player is actually crazy. Because 97-98% of these camps athletes don't play past the 12th grade so to focus on a small number of "camp veterans" devalues the vast majority of the young athletes. Also no coaching, teaching, or training actually takes place at these camps. Evaluation.?.? Sure, maybe but an evaluation of the wrong things. There is no emphasis, teaching, or rewarding of/for playing the right way. It's a free for all at best. Spending 9 days at a combined 3 camps, walking the courts, listening to players, they really don't know what's important for the upcoming high school years. Hearing players say "give me the damn ball I'm trying to get 30," and watching the "elite" coaches watch, hear, allow, and not correct this is crazy. Shift focus to trying to build elite high school players instead of hoping that there is an NBA prospect in the building that you can attach your name to and run with it for years. As a coach I attended many events all over the place, to network, interact, and see what's out there. The pecking order of these camps for what the teach, emphasize, and build that ACTUALLY MATTERS FOR 98% of these players (building capable, knowledgeable, and well refined high school players and giving them a slight edge for beyond the 12th grade) - NBC - by far the best camp I personally have ever seen - Local to your area college camp, often available in 90% of areas, hosted by involved coaches, trainers, and current college players - TIE: MadeHoops & Under Armour - much much better than other big brand camps. - PGC this camp is often looked at as a marketing machine because they do market very well and carpet bomb you with material. But down to the bones of it, it is a very solid camp. - EBC dead last because outside of a hype train there isn't much to it. There are some other smaller scale camps that offer "exposure" that are growing and may become relevant in the coming years. But of what's out there do your research don't just sign up because someone is promising something "elite," or "exposure," or something that is in all honesty too good to be true. Also when EBC travels to cities and has their "Top 20" at the end of each camp. Those "Top 20" are the ones that are supposed to attend their big "regional top tier" events. Seeing players well outside that initial "Top 20" just so you can hit numbers is a bad look and waters your camp down significantly.

Negative experience: If your team isn’t from California the refs here will do their best to make sure you lose. We went 2 and 2, but the foul count was never in our favor (not even close) when we played California teams. The bias here is palpable. Player safety during games is also a major concern. At OGP facilities dirty, rough, and mean-spirited play is overlooked by the refs. At OGP basketball is basket-brawl. If you’re interested in your players getting injured this is the place for you. The facility is nice, but it is cramped. When players/fans are sitting on the benches, their feet are on the court (also a safety concern).

Mama Throck 2 months ago

Negative experience: Disappointed by this facility. I would expect the players safety to be considered which is clearly an afterthought for this gym. One court had the scorer table LITERALLY ON THE COURT. BUSH League!!!! Another court has the chair leg of the scorer keeper from the adjacent court on the neighboring court. Just unsafe!

Terry N 2 months ago

Negative experience: Terrible facility when score tables are on the court. Avoid this facility . Score keeper can’t seem to keep track and keeps flip flopping or don’t give the points, pay attentions stop being on your phone or chatting. Home is lighter color and dark is guest how hard is that to keep track of? (Seen this happened to multiple teams in one day so if it’s a close game- good luck!) You pay $20 for parking (you will need cash as we parked across at the swap meet as the parking is always full) and parents shouldn’t need to also keep score after paying for admissions fee. Facility is damn hot. Please stop using this facility in Anaheim. Not enough seating as they make one whole area for college coaches which I only see a couple at a time and what a waste of space for patrons to try and squeeze in in other areas

Gma Ren 2 months ago

Negative experience: We have been to several horrible basketball tournaments here. Teams play dirty, with the coaches encouragement, and the refs don't call fair games. The refs have told us they are intentionally not calling fouls or other calls. This last tournament, we had 5 games, and only 2 of them were legitimate basketball games, not brawlball. Of those 5 games, we only had 1 game with refs that called a fair game. It's frustrating to the players, spectators, and parents. Please do something to fix this fiasco.

Positive experience: We've played at several complexes now and while this one is clean and has lots of fancy banners and sponsorships on the walls, the snack bar has VERY little healthy options for food, but overall the food was decent. There is NO AC in the gym, no big roll up door or windows, very odd ventilation choices... like it doesn't get hot in OC The bathroom situation is my biggest complaint, the ladies line was literally out to the entrance door the entire day. If you charge $20 for parking AND $20 per person you should invest in enough facilities to support the amount of people you're hosting during a massive tournament. Rent a bathroom trailer or portapotties at least. The staff interactions were VERY pleasant, though, the parking attendant was hilarious

Nicholas French 4 months ago

Positive experience: Open Gym Premier in Anaheim is a solid facility with 9 basketball courts, making it a great venue for tournaments, practices, and training sessions. While the Anaheim location isn’t quite as upscale or polished as their Ladera Ranch facility, it still gets the job done and has everything needed for competitive play. The staff is organized and events run smoothly. There’s ample space for teams and spectators, and the energy in the gym is always high. Parking is usually manageable, and the central Anaheim location is convenient for teams coming from various areas. Overall, it’s a dependable spot for hoops — not fancy, but functional and well-managed.

Sam G 4 months ago

Negative experience: We had tournament this pass weekend. The gym was hot to the point that I was about to pass out, no AC or fans in site. They charged $20 for everyone over age 5 plus $20 to park. They also had a sign $5 for first aide with a tip jar. I was appalled by their greed. You are charging a player for a bag of ice or band-aid?? When our team paid $500 for tournament? Such a greedy organization!! At least have fans for God sake, do better!!

Chris H 5 months ago

Positive experience: It's a decent venue, but it's way overpriced to watch your loved one play.

David Flickinger 8 months ago

Negative experience: Not a serious volleyball gym. On several courts there is a substantial discrepancy (~10ft) in distance behind the serving line from one side versus the other. Not only that, but the short side is abnormally short, preventing usual jump or topspin serves. This obviously confers a clear advantage to the team on the longer side. Maybe fine for 12U and lower. Not a great venue for older athletes. Other amenities far below average when compared to other venues in the area. Cafe is massively undersized and impossibly slow - not equipped for the number of people who attend. Bathrooms are equally undersized and always have long lines. It’s always a disappointment when I see this facility on the schedule. I hope they invest some of the exorbitant entry and parking fees into the appropriate improvements. Food update: if you wait long enough, you will discover the advertised $9 chicken sandwich is literally a single heavily fried chicken tender, cut in half and stuffed between two pieces of toasted wonderbread. Could not be further from anything one might expect to receive when ordering a chicken sandwich…A true travesty in its own right.

Alex Amiri 1 year ago

Negative experience: Horrible Staff attitudes towards bringing fruit into the facilities. We brought apple and some watermelon to snack on between games and the stand would not allow into the arena because they wanted to sell their food in the cafeteria.

Tom Vartanian 1 year ago

Negative experience: We’ve played at nicer gyms. Cafe is nice, food is decent, but overpriced, but that’s expected. Worst part is there is no A/C inside the gym and it’s like a sauna. I kept having to step outside to get some clean air. Very stuffy and hot in the gym. For a large facility like this, I don’t understand why they don’t install an AC system. They charge enough in entry fee and parking to be able to install two full capacity units. Also, seating is very limited, so expect to stand. Horrible gym!!

Henry Kuo 1 year ago

Negative experience: Pros: Nice facilities with multiple courts; very clean and well maintained. They have a cafeteria which is great since there are not a lot of food options that's walkable. Cons: They overcharge at the door where other tournaments are a fraction of their door costs. What can be done in a two day tournament, they milk the door fee by extending the games out to 4 days (Labor Day Weekend) and doubling what they are making off spectators with entry and parking. Specatators drive all that way for one game a day for multiple days vs having multiple games over a weekend. I see what you are doing there OGP! Free registration for the team but they make more off door. Also, they trick parents to get that lamea$$ grassroots app. Email say its required if you are playing. Bunch of baloney...greedy fools.

Brett Olsen 1 year ago

Negative experience: How can you justify $25 to watch a youth basketball game that lasts 30min. This is just for a parent to watch a game. If I bring the grandparents and my wife we are $100. Oh but that doesn’t include parking . I can go to an Angeles game for cheaper!

Anna Gonzales 1 year ago

Negative experience: Pay for parking, pay for entrance, bring in Starbucks, but the guy tracked me down and took my oranges and granola bar that I brought in for my daughter who is playing volleyball here all day.

Tony Guerrero 1 year ago

Positive experience: Meh! The surrounding area for spectators is too small. People are constantly walking through you and impeading your view due to the lack of space around the courts.

Qais Noory 1 year ago

Negative experience: Switched teams last minutes our kids were told that the game won’t count played a high level team lost the game then they changed it to a win for them even though we were told by the referee that the team has forfeit

Candace Aiono 1 year ago

Negative experience: Too much!!!!!

momofuku33 1 year ago

Positive experience: The facility was clean and offered a cafe with food and snacks. The bathrooms were well maintained. The courts were crowded and at times balls interrupted nearby games. The entrance fee is exorbitant in my opinion at 20 dollars per adult plus the additional you will have to pay for parking.

Jennifer Evans 1 year ago

Negative experience: All about the money. Terribly run. Better basketball clubs out there for the price.

deagster 1 year ago

Negative experience: absolutely HORRIBLE, the owner is a idiot the facility is loathsome. Bathrooms are foul kitchen workers are contemptuous referees are a bunch of dim-witted volunteers. the only pro is the extremely kind janitors other than that the place is absolutely dire don't take your children here if I could do it this place would be 0 stars it'd almost unsafe

Will Holt 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Energy here at tourney time is amazing. It's a little tight but the fans have room. Snack options and bathrooms are good.

Chase Tifft 1 year ago

Negative experience: They lack adequate parking so the swamp meet across the street charges for parking and then the facility charges entry for youth sports (on top of team entry fees). Crowded courts and controlled chaos is how they handle everything since they can leverage their location. It could easily be much better but they prioritize having everything maxed out so you won't have room as a spectator but more importantly players don't have enough space. The courts were deteriorated in quality from water damage, nets were too close for older players trying to serve, and the crowds kept trying to cross courts during matches because there was no space provided.

Mithun Dutta 1 year ago

Negative experience: Poor facility. There is no air condition, no effective ventilation system, the main entrance is the only ventilation for 500 odd people. To make matter worst, they have very few fans. The facilty is extremely hot and suffocating. The gym must be closed until they ensure there is proper ventilation in place.

Negative experience: Please get some AC. These athletes are playing their hearts out and damn near passing out from the temp in here. We come here several times for basketball camps and every time, it's extremely hot. Please invest in air conditioning

Fantastic experience: A little pricey for parking but expected for volleyball tournaments. Great selection for drinks and food inside. Very clean establishment.

WetheHYPE 1 year ago

Negative experience: You can tell best interest is to make as much money, drain families and not make basketball a fan welcoming experience. Games are scheduled with 1 game on Friday, 1 on Saturday and 1 on Sunday. Entrance is $20 including little siblings who don't pay attention to the games and have to be there for parents to babysit. Every parent or family member I talk too want to support their kid playing but 1 game for $20, $60 all weekend and also $25 parking is another money grab, but it's not very affordable for most so most parents have to sacrifice 1 attend. Wish OGP thought about the family experience rather than take advantage of people who just wants to watch their kid play a basketball game.

Nelson Ocampo 1 year ago

Positive experience: Nice big facility with 9 basketball courts.. Flooring is noticably worn. Eating area has a television that shows games while you eeat. Food and drink prices are really high, but that's expected in a place like this. Like a movie theater. Watch your basketballs! My son had his stolen while he was in a game.

Positive experience: Cool gym. Gym parking lot is small, but for sports events like today’s Volleyball tournament, they also use the parking lot that is right in front, I believe that’s the inside swap meet’s parking lot. $20 per car. There only a few metal benches inside by each court, but it is not enough (and they are a bit uncomfortable lol), it is high recommended to bring your own chairs. They offer a snack shop and a equipment shop.

Open Gym Premier

Hello! Thank you for your review. The parking lot across the street is run by the swap meet, not us.

Kelly Haynes 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: The Open Gym Premier in Anaheim holds volleyball tournaments amongst other sports tournaments. This facility has sufficient parking available because they use the parking area across the street, as well. The facility itself is kept very clean and well-maintained, making it a pleasant place to play volleyball. In addition to the great facilities, the open gym also offers food for purchase, which is a great convenience for those who don't want to bring their own snacks. It's especially nice that they serve Starbuck's coffee, as it's a well-known and popular brand. All in all, if you're looking for a great place to play volleyball in Anaheim, this open gym is definitely worth considering. With reasonable parking, a clean facility, and food and coffee available for purchase, it's a great choice for both casual and serious volleyball players alike. ChatGPT Mar 14 Version. Free Res

Negative experience: Updated. Fairly clean is about all I can say about this place. Seating is limited an only available baseline to watch. There is virtually zero space to walk to different courts. This place will charge high entry and parking fees for a gym with inadequate seating. The temperature inside is unhealthy, the humidity and heat is dangerous. Players, scorekeepers, coaches are literally on the court. This place is popular because of its location, but it is an awful place to play.

Open Gym Premier

Hello! Thank you for reaching out. This seating arrangement is due to it being a live event and there has to be separated seating and walkways for college coaches.

Negative experience: Tournament in late June. Temps in the 90’s. NO BATHROOMS!!!!! Plumbing problem I guess. No A/C. The building has giant fans on the ceiling that were not being used. Staff was nice though.

Carrie 2 years ago

Negative experience: Gym has no a/c. We pay enough for our kids to play in a gym that should at least provide commercial fans. This gym had 2. The parents trying to cool down at tables with 1 fan, were let down when someone moved it to the simple little drink and chips snack bar. Our kids enjoy basketball, but please take parents into consideration.

Positive experience: Great gym and clean snack shop. Only drawback is lack of air circulation. For the amount paid for parking and entrance, expect ac or fans to keep indoors at a comfortable level (i.e Ladera Ranch gym). Also could use a bit more fan seating area on the edge courts.

Positive experience: I came here for my son's basketball tournament. It was $15 to get in which is a fairly typical price. Parking was expensive as it was $20 and the only reason I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5. The gym is clean and the seating was sufficient. There is a food court which was nice and clean. Overall a good, clean place. Just a bit expensive.

Fantastic experience: Our volleyball team recently had a tournament at the Open Gym Premier facility. The overall experience was positive. The staff did their best to be welcoming, friendly, courteous, and responsive toward attendees and families. With so many people, I must say the restrooms were cleaned constantly which was so nice to see. The snack bar area was large and open. Many teams were able to grab a meal, drink, or just sit in between matches. The food and drink prices were reasonable. I was shocked to not have to pay amusement park prices, so THANK YOU! Yes, the parking was a little tight on site, but attendees/families had parking options in the area too. I mean, this area is right down the street from Disneyland so it is what it is, but $15-$20 for all day parking was reasonable too. Our family really appreciated the experience at this location. I hope the Open Gym Premier team sees my feedback and I wish them much success.

Fantastic experience: Also just one thing of your refs ever say to step outside qfter the coaches are telling them about how aggressive the other team is and not calling fouls for both teams next time I will drag him out side with me us as parents and family who come to show our kids support. We dont expect to watch our kids get pushed around especially the younger kids I am not ok with younger kids who are still learning this game and still developing there style of play to get hurt . so to let other coaches and refs let some very blatant fouls go uncalled and then laugh when the coach calls him out on his play calling or being on his phone during a game so please check your refs and I have video of the game as well .
