Fantastic experience: The staff and the classes are great! Chris is the best! Everyone is so friendly. The best gym I have ever belonged too!

Fantastic experience: I enjoy working out at this gym—the equipment is great, and the atmosphere is welcoming.

Positive experience: Convenient location with a hard to beat month-to-month membership. Can get pretty crowded during peak times, which is the only negative. Facility also kept pretty clean, and staff is great.

Fantastic experience: Excellent gym with a lot of machines and free weights and cardio rooms and stretching areas. A full track to walk or run, a pool and sauna. Everything you could want in a health club. It's clean and there are plenty of microfiber cloths for cleaning machines. Complete with free towels and coffee for members. Option to buy protein bars and energy drinks and electrolyte drinks at their little cafe. The only change I'd like to see is some vegan protein bar or drink options. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: I have been going here for about 3 years now and have not ever had a complaint. The staff is always professional and curious. The facility is consistently clean. The equipment is consistently working. There's many activities always happening. The atmosphere is fantastic. Overall I just haven't had a bad workout day here .

Negative experience: The worst gym I have been to in town! The gym is packed to the max I have to always wait around to use the equipment I want. The locker room and sauna is very dirty and overall the whole place could use a good cleaning. Tons of kids just sitting on their phones not doing anything and the staff won't do anything about it. They don't have enough equipment to start so it makes it pretty hard to get a good workout in, let alone how long it takes to find an empty spot to park. I will definitely be switching I tried to give them a chance but can't do it anymore.

Fantastic experience: Had never visited a Legacy Fitness but was in Ankeny for work and needed a gym. Trained twice at this facility and had a great experience. Chris went above and beyond to treat a visitor like an everyday friend/member. 10/10 recommend

Fantastic experience: This is the best gym in the area! I've been going there for 4 and a half months and I'll be there forever! The gym and the people that work there are amazing! I work with a trainer as well as being a member and it's so worth it! I couldn't get up and down off the floor without help and then I talked to Jon Bianchi!!! Now my life is completely different 4 months later. I have energy all day long and I don't need help with anything anymore plus I'm lifting weights too! It's been an incredible 4 months and Jon is the best trainer anyone could ask for! Do yourself a favor and check him and Legacy Fitness out!

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Modern equipment. Fast water bottle filling stations. Towel service! Could consider enforcing stronger hygiene standards from customers. Overwhelming body odor smells, leaving sweat covered seats, etc. Anyway, friendly staff, good customer service. Edit: gym management did a great job of addressing this particular seat very soon after my original review

Fantastic experience: I've been going to this gym 3-5x/week for over six months, and I love this place! The staff are always so efficient and kind, and the other gym members are courteous. I've not personally used the pool, but the rest of the gym I've seen/used has always been clean. I've had a wonderful experience with one of their personal trainers, Connor Westergaard, and I highly recommend him for anyone considering a trainer, especially someone who may be new to gyms, fitness, or resistance training in general.

Fantastic experience: Equipment is well maintained, the gym is always clean, it doesn’t feel crowded at all.

Fantastic experience: Starting to work out again after kids and finding a gym with a play facility was a must. My kids get so excited when I say we are going to the gym.

Positive experience: The gym itself is good. Plenty of equipment options and never too crowded. However, the locker room and sauna are always so disgusting it’s unsanitary. Don’t know if the sauna floor has ever been mopped with how black the floors are and the trash left behind.

Negative experience: Everyone knows some gyms are scummy about memberships but these people take the cake—they won't put their rates on their website (the "click here to learn more" button is a mailto: link like you're on a 90s geocities website) and they won't even tell their own staff what their rates are, you have to meet them in office or take a phone call from one of their membership people directly so they can try to manipulate you into buying one on the spot. Deeply unserious and unethical salescringe behavior and I dearly hope that they are out of business soon. EDIT: the saddest part about this owner's response to my review is that I thanked Al for his time and didn't say anything to him when he said he wasn't allowed to know what the membership rates are—which means the owner is either lying about what happened to try to to score sympathy points (likely) or that I am FAR from the only person who takes issue with this company's unethical behavior. Either way, it's obvious that they know they are in the wrong—they just don't care because they know they can make a little extra money by browbeating people into a membership.

Fantastic experience: Only been lifting here a few months but this place rocks, the staff are amazing and very helpful, this gym has been wonderful and much better then previous ones I’ve been to! Definitely recommend

You are welcomed when you walk in and reminded to have a great day when you leave. The daily interaction with the entire staff and trainers makes everyone feel right at home. Fantastic experience: By far my favorite gym membership I have had! The daycare is always clean and staffed, my daughter loves going to see her daycare “friends”. I can always trust she is in good hands! The gym is always clean and the staff is super friendly!

Fantastic experience: I've been coming to Legacy Fitness for the past couple of years. I mainly use the pool and attend several Aqua Fit classes. Chris, and all of the staff are always friendly and helpful. And they keep the facility clean. I've been a member at other fitness centers, but Legacy has them beat!

Fantastic experience: I have been a member for a year and half. The facilities are convenient and clean. Staff is great, polite and accommodating. The prices is fair. I have been in a number of fitness centers and this is the best. I have a great trainer (Braden Classon) who keeps me on track. I highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: This gym is amazing! It's very clean, the staff are amazing, they have state of the art equipment to workout with/on. Dont get me started on the amenities(pool, sauna, healthy snack shop, PT, daycare, etc). I dont plan on ever joining another gym. It's also very affordable!!

Fantastic experience: I have been a patron at legacy for over two years and it is by far one of the best gym in the metro. I lived in ankeny for a year and moved downtown and tried some of the gyms there but I always felt out of place or just like I didn't fit. Now I'm by no means a gym rat, but I typically visit 5-6 times a week. Even being a regular gym attendee, it just felt like people were judging me and stare weird. So I canceled my membership and went back to Legacy (a 30 min drive every night) to still be able to workout there. When I went on military leave, Chris gave me almost 3 months free while I was back visiting in additional to giving my brother and his wife, months free when they were looking for a gym. Any time I had concerns about the service, cleanliness, or equipment, Chris always responded personally and followed up with how they resolved the issue. Legacy is BY FAR one of the best in the metro and they will continue to have my service for years to come.

Fantastic experience: This is a great gym! The staff is friendly, helpful, and responsive. There is a nice variety of group fitness classes with skilled, encouraging instructors. The facility is clean and well-equipped.

Fantastic experience: Legacy fitness is the Michael Jordan of gyms (goat). It’s hands down the best gym in the area. Great equipment and always clean but most importantly a professional staff with customer service second to none. At Legacy fitness you’re not just a transaction like most gyms. After just a couple visits you’ll quickly see that they treat clients like family and get to know all of their members by name. Nick W, take this ratio and go work out at Planet Fitness with all your bro friends, bro.

Fantastic experience: Equipment is great. Gym is clean. But, most importantly, they treat you like family there. They truly care about their members. AND, they care about the member’s kids as well. Overall, just top-notch customer service. Al is my favorite there. Chris is another favorite, but still doesn’t come close to Al :).

I also love when Al greets me by name in the morning and thanks me for bringing in clean shoes! He also makes sure we all have fresh and hot coffee!!!

Fantastic experience: Legacy is a great gym! I have several chronic health conditions and the heated pool has been a lifesaver for me! My physicians are so pleased I’m a regular participant in the programs. The whole staff are so warm, courteous and helpful, but Al is the BEST example of professionalism!

It is super important to me that a local business supports the schools, Legacy sponsors MANY Ankeny Community School District teams, for athletes of all levels. Fantastic experience: Al is great! He greets me with a smile every morning he works. I have been to a lot of different gyms and this gym is definitely in my top 3. I really enjoy working out here. The sales people are very nice and understanding. The rates are reasonable and the personal trainers are great.

Fantastic experience: Have been a member for a year. I attend a water exercise class daily. Love the instructors and the other class participants. Pool is large and clean and I am very pleased that I can come at will to any class. My friends in other cities are not able to attend water exercise classes because classes are full with waiting lists. All staff have been great to me. I had no problems becoming a member. Met with a staff member who assessed my needs and offered a plan. Joining was the best decision that I have made in a long time.

Fantastic experience: We love Legacy fitness! I started out here being afraid to lift in a public setting but it didn’t take long at all before I felt comfortable and at home in this facility. From the warm greeting in the morning from Al at the front desk to the best childcare ladies, everyone here makes you feel like part of the Legacy family. Fantastic experience: My husband and I have enjoyed being members of Legacy Fitness for several years. We are always greeted coming and going by staff members (Al!) Or the owner(Chris!) I love the workouts in the pool, warm.or cool! And Tony appreciates the upstairs track and weight machines. It's a great gym!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member for almost 2 years. I absolutely love <3 Legacy Fitness! I frequently attend aquatics classes. The instructors are top notch and make it a fun workout. The members are friendly and we have a great time. There is much more than aquatics classes but those are my favorite. Give Legacy a try! You’ll be glad you did.

Fantastic experience: We have been members at Legacy since it opened. The facility is clean, well maintained and has everything I need for my fitness efforts. What really sets them apart is the staff, the front desk folks who make the effort to know your name and to greet you every time you walk through the door, the personal trainers who push you and encourage you to meet your fitness goals, to the VERY engaged individuals who lead the various group classes who make exercise fun (not easy to do!!). They are all extremely friendly, extremely helpful and they all do a great job. Thanks to each of you!!

Fantastic experience: This is Ric wife posting this post. There was a post by Nick W. that was about Legacy and how he mistreated Al. First, I have to say I am absolutely appalled how you treated Al and your behavior. He is the sweetest person ever and works really hard. Nick you need to apologize to him immediately. Who acts like this at all. Second, what Nick said about Legacy Fitness is not true at all. Obviously you do not understand how a business works. It is a wonderful gym and they do their best to keep it a nice place to work out, especially during the winter season. But I have to say people who go to the gym need to be more respectful and responsible when it comes to keeping the gym clean. Bring your second pair of shoes, change them before you walk upstairs, do not walk on the track with your wet shoes/boots to get to the window sill to change into your tennis shoes. When you try to walk on the track you have to dodge all the water on the floor. The employees have more to do than constantly mopping up after you. The gym belongs to all of its members, show the same respect and responsibility like you do in your own home. I hope when I go to the gym this winter I see a change in how our gym is treated.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Legacy for 4 years now and it is the best gym! The community of people there is incredible. The staff is incredible! I go super early in the morning and I am always greeted with a smiling happy face! The people at this gym genuinely care about my health and wellbeing. I consider them a family! If you are lucky enough to meet Al at the front desk he is the best!!!! I highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member at Legacy for 3 years now. It is the perfect gym for my family! My daughters love going to the childcare and family swim time. I typically go early in the morning to get my workout in, so I am one of the lucky ones who is greeted by Al every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. At 4:30 in the morning, he greets me with a smile and a warm welcome. The facility is well taken care of, clean, and all staff is extremely helpful and friendly.

Fantastic experience: Utilized this gym for the summer and it was excellent. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. They have enough equipment for their typical capacity, and they offer a 24 hour key for those who want to attend the gym after hours (which I appreciated a lot). They also have a pool, which is only 3 lanes, but is actually not used often and I never had trouble getting a lane.
