The gym's structure is truly exceptional, featuring top-tier equipment, a highly motivating atmosphere, and an extremely professional and welcoming staff. I was also honored to witness the great Brazilian athletes Leandro Peres and Rafael Brandão, both Mr. Olympia competitors, training there — which only reinforces how well-equipped this gym is to support elite-level athletes. If a legend like Leandro and Rafael have chosen Powerhouse as his training ground, it's because they offer nothing but the best. Powerhouse Gym Pittsburgh is a true home for anyone serious about bodybuilding — from beginners to professionals.

Fantastic experience: Gym is great! The people are always super welcoming and friendly. Tons of equipment that feels smooth and great for bodybuilding. Men ship prices are extremely fair, and 24 hours is great. Can train powerlifting here as well, very inviting to training heavy and hard!

Also, for those of you looking to break a plateau like me, I’d gladly recommend looking at John Hornung’s testimonial portfolio and definitely check in with him. He’s super knowledgeable, has extensive experience trading beginner to professional athletes and an awesome dude. Service with a smile and surprisingly reasonable plans. You can’t miss. Negative experience: - Maybe 2 pairs of working clips in the whole building - Weights NEVER are put back / put in the correct spot. - I’ve had 1 conversation during my 2 months there! He complimented my squat! And then when I tried to talk to him, he put his hand up and headphones back on and walked away. - I have been stuck under 200 lbs on the bench twice <3 and nobody came to help me. This was after I tried to find someone to spot me, but nobody would acknowledge my existence. - The gym posted that they were looking for a front desk employee- I inquired! They left me on read, and then immediately blocked me from being able to tag them in my stories Do NOT go here if you are a powerlifter!!!! Or want to make friends! Or find any sort of community! Also FILTHY FACILITY!!! it’s maintained on a surface level, but the years of dirt and grime are still caked up

Fantastic experience: I was visiting the area and looking for a gym for the weekend and was recommended this gym and let me say this is hands down one of the best gyms i’ve ever been to!! The price for a day pass is MORE than reasonable. Older and newer equipment but everything was clean and well kept, the atmosphere and people really made the place as well. Definitely going to come back here whenever i’m in the area!

Fantastic experience: There is a REASON Powerhouse Pittsburgh is the best in the Burgh. The atmosphere once you walk in is incredible. Staff is so friendly and actually take the time to talk to you. Equipment is great, lots of great equipment for leg days. The gym is split into different sections depending what you're hitting. One area for legs, back, push, free weights, powerlifting cage area, AND posing room. They have Strive, Cybex, Icarian, Hammer Strength. I'd love to see Powerhouse get more Nautilus & Prime fitness equipment.

Fantastic experience: We came from out of town and heard good things about the gym. Me and my girlfriend are both national level competitive bodybuilders we both were happy and impressed by the gym. Everything you need.

Fantastic experience: Awesome gym. I was blown away with how well the up keep is and constant additions of new equipment. Helped take my own fitness to the next level! Owners and employees are extremely kind and personable same with fellow gym goers.

Fantastic experience: I don't know with all these negative reviews are talking about. I've been going to body tech since January of this year and have not encountered any of the aforementioned problems with it. I've never even spoken with the owners but the guy that works the desk named Scott is a cool guy who even remembers your name. There's an almost endless supply of dumbbells and a hefty amount of cardio equipment so there's something there for everyone. If you like going to a gym to just lift your 25 pound dumbbells and scoff at people bigger than you and call them roid heads then this gym is not for you in the first place. Go to Planet Fitness for pizza Mondays if that's what you're all about.

Fantastic experience: Bodytech has been my home gym now for 5 years, and i couldn't ask for a better place to train. I've recommended Bodytech to many of my friends and family over the years, and the majority of those people love it too. From the excellent free weight selection, to the unique power room in the back, this privately owned gym puts the commercial ones to shame.

Fantastic experience: I’m honestly sad I don’t live here to be able to come back to this gym. Was visiting for a bodybuilding competition and knew we needed to check out this gym. The place is incredible, so many amazing pieces of equipment, a highly motivating environment, and a super friendly front end staff member. Hubby and I each picked up a tshirt as a memento, we will never forget this place.

It was just miscommunication when I called to cancel my membership, I was told I wouldn't be charged anything in the month of January. Fantastic experience: I have never loved a gym so much. I’ve visited powerhouse gyms in other cities but can’t say I love them as much as Powerhouse Pittsburgh. The employees are very sweet and never forget to greet you. The equipment is great: there’s multiple of everything. Really feels like a family there!

I used to be a member at the gym when was old ownership and wad almost embarrassing to walk in so i would like to send a big thanks to the new owners for turning this place in to a reputable gym to come and workout again. Not only are the staff helpful and friendly but it now accommodates all people from young/old to beginners and heavy power lifters. They now have every type of equipment you can think of, all new and updated equipment and the place looks amazing and stays unbelievably clean. Thank you again to the new owners for everything they've done!!!!

Fantastic experience: So, as many people who read these posts about this gym may know, the gym has been bought by a local family from the north hills area a little over a year or so ago. The first week of ownership the entire gym was cleaned top to bottom and when I say cleaned I mean people on ladders cleaning the air ducts for better and cleaner air flow, all new paint and a complete update to the lobby. This gym incorporated some old equipment that some members cannot live without and a TON of brand new equipment. While yes some equipment is older, it was requested by numerous members to keep it, which as most gym goes know is harder to maintain as the specific equipment may not even be in production anymore. The owners have bent over backwards to clean and maintain these pieces of equipment to try to keep them in working order and safe. I have been a member of this gym for over 3 years and have been through both ownerships. This new family has brought so much to the gym experience that NO OTHER gym will be able to match. They have celebrities come to the gym, they give new products a place on their shelves that may not be the top brands but are newer companies, they allow members to bring their animals. Not only bring them but in most cases the owners wife watches the animals so that those members can work out. Another HUGE upside to this gym is that they are police supporters! They have a wall dedicated to anyone in law enforcement and patches from numerous departments all over the area. These owners are CONSTANTLY looking for new ways to get their members involved and to keep them happy! They love their members so much that they have placed what I would call "Pride Pictures" of members that have competed in numerous styles of body building competitions right in the lobby. If you can't call this dedication to the members then I don't know what to call it!

Fantastic experience: By far the best gym I have joined. Affordable and always clean with state of the art equipment. The renovations under new ownership have turned out well. In addition, Powerhouse gym is 24-7 which is also a major perk. Keep up the great work!

Fantastic experience: Where do I start? The gym is always being cleaned and very welcoming. Going to any gym can be intimidating at first but everyone Is welcoming, respectful and helpful. Owners are top notch and honestly it’s by far the best all around gym I’ve been to. If you want a great gym to train at that’ll welcome you. Look no further Powerhouse is where you want to be!

Pittsburgh has a very rich bodybuilding community, but the one thing that this city has lacked is a clear cut premier training facility, Powerhouse is now that facility. Matt and Lisa have done an amazing job taking an old rundown Bodytech and turning it into something special. They have upgraded almost everything in this gym including adding some very much needed Arsenal Strength equipment, which for those of you that don't know is the Cadillac of exercise equipment. Powerhouse has an amazing atmosphere full of like minded individuals who all have one thing in common....progress.

Fantastic experience: Moved out to West View a year ago and was still driving into the city to lift. Last Sunday, I went in with a current member for a lift and to check the place out, loved the gym and the atmosphere here. Immediately signed up and couldn’t be happier. Great mix of new equipment and some awesome old school machines as well. Love this gym, only regret is I wish I would have joined sooner!
