Teagle Hall Fitness Center: Opinions
Positive experience: Small gym, not a big variety of equipment. The schedule can vary a lot depending on holidays, games and other stuff. Not the best experience.
Negative experience: Need to wait in a long line to get in to train. Waste of time as should be training, not standing in line
Positive experience: High proportion of Squat racks and deadlift platforms, which is good for me. Can be busy. Better music and aesthetic than some other campus fitness centres.
Fantastic experience: Fully equipped
Negative experience: Super small and crowded all the time. No variety and not enough equipments. Elbow to elbow from time to time.
Negative experience: Much regret over purchasing a CFC membership. Constantly and randomly changing hours. Frequently changing hours. Sma facilities that are crowded with long waits for equipment when open. Sub-par equipment. Will not renew beyond my 1st semester. Recommend Pallas Fitness or The Gym Ithaca.
Fantastic experience: Has 2 beautiful swimming pools! One is a 4ft pool and the other is a 4ft-12ft pool. I love how they decorated the inside with the names of every school in the Ivy League
Fantastic experience: Best fitness center!
Positive experience: The equipment is in good shape and there is plenty of variety. There is just generally not enough space.
Positive experience: Has all the equipment needed but gets too crowded easily.
Positive experience: Smells like a gym, gets busy fro. 4-7pm
Positive experience: Well....one thing you can say is that it's pretty old school.....they have updated the equipment and facilities but it's pretty small considering the size of the population and the lap swim times are limited and crowded
Positive experience: Teagle Hall has a gym and swimming pool that are open for students to use (and I believe the public as well). It is also used for a lot of the Cornell sports like swimming, gymnastics, and rowing. That can be a bit intimidating but the staff are really nice so I’d definitely recommend going to workout or swim. One thing that is annoying is that there is usually only one (sometimes 2) entrances open which is the one closest to the football field so if you’re walking from central campus you have to go all the way around the building.
Positive experience: Visited to gym. Crowded almost every time of the day. If you want to work out in quiet, this is not the place. Decent selection of machines and platforms with free weights, but almost everything was in use constantly.
Positive experience: Great place to work out on campus. Can use pool, free weights (including Olympic weights), machines for cardio or resistance training. Staff friendly, helpful, even provide clothes and towels to wellness members. Only downer is poor circulation and no a/c, so some rooms get pretty humid and gamey smelling, but you get used to it.
Positive experience: I prefer this gym to Helen Newman. The upstairs has treadmills and ellipticals, as well as free weights, cable machines, and various other machines. Downstairs has olympic-style lifting platforms. With that said, the summer hours of this gym are terrible: 7 am to 3 pm weekdays, closed on weekends. Who is the target demographic for a gym with hours like this? Retired people and unemployed folks I guess. It's a mystery to me why Helen Newman has better summer hours (6 am to 8:30 pm) given it's inconvenient location, tiny parking lot size, and lack of lifting platforms (and even the "no deadlifting allowed" rule).
