Fantastic experience: Great place to learn how to boulder. I may be biased since I haven't gone climbing anywhere else. Courses change weekly. They also have workout equipment and fitness classes not to mention clean changing rooms and a sauna.

Fantastic experience: Really nice gym near 99ranch!

Fantastic experience: Good bouldering gym. Friendly staff. Surprisingly good free weight gym and cardio equipment. Good prices. Now if only my 6yr old would want to climb rocks with me more...

Fantastic experience: Had a great time at the intro to bouldering class! I was asked if I needed shoes and chalk (I did), our instructor was thorough, and I left confident enough to try a few different climbs on my own. Definitely would recommend

Fantastic experience: I loved climbing here! I'm just exploring the gyms in the area and this has been the best so far! Nice location close to the BART, super friendly staff, and really hard problems to challenge the climbers Facilities were nice and clean, they just need to fix the faucet and the hand dryer. I like the creative setting, though it was a bit reachy (understandable though, I'm a 5'4 climber with a -3 span so this is a common issue for me across many gyms). Slab problems were really nice, I just wish there were more slab problems to try before running out

Fantastic experience: Cute small climbing gym with a great variety of wall features and fun problems. Didn't try cardio area, but saw they have Kaiser bikes. The weights section is small in space but well equipped. Will be going back and recommend to those into bouldering. The cave section is nice.

Fantastic experience: This gym has great route setting and variety for all levels of climbers. The cardio, weight and training equipment is a nice bonus, and yoga and other classes are included with a membership. The members are very friendly and helpful.

Fantastic experience: First time here, good selection of problems on a variety of walls, overhung to slabby. They seem like they have a good selection of classes (yoga, boxing etc).

Positive experience: The staff members were friendly and welcoming, and I loved the routes we climbed! As a newer climber (and first time to this gym), I would have appreciated a little tour and explanation of which routes I could top out on and which ones should be down climbed.

Fantastic experience: I don't have a membership at any climbing gym, but I found that the day use price was more affordable than other places I've been. The gym was clean and the climbing routes were good for novice climbers like myself, but also challenging for the more experienced climbers that I went with. The woman at the counter was kind and professional!

Fantastic experience: Positive: Communication , Professionalism , Quality Great gym, been climbing for about a year there. Really solid diversity of routes and the routesetters are often there to talk to. Only request, even MORE DYNOS please!

Fantastic experience: The gym is nice, but it's a shame there are no lead climbing or top rope options. The facilities for endurance training are good, with clean changing rooms. It's also adjacent to Ranch 99 for cheap food, so all in all it's a good location to climb, ignoring the lack of rope climbing options.

Fantastic experience: Nice cozy place for bouldering. I'm used to larger spaces with lots of people. Our Sunday morning session was incredible and we were able to spend as much time as we wanted on each route. Will be going back for sure.

Fantastic experience: First time going bouldering. The guy at the front desk was really nice and did a little teach to the group about falling. The place isn’t that large, but there was plenty of puzzles to try and retry. Their covid policy made it so it wasn’t just packed full of people so it was easy to have space from other groups of people. Would totally go again.

Fantastic experience: I love this gym. The routes are graded fairly and updated regularly. The staff is amazingly helpful and encouraging. The facilities have everything one needs to stay fit. Best bouldering gym around!

Fantastic experience: Positive: Communication , Quality I had a great experience for my first time ever inside a climbing gym. I did an intro course, the instructor took his time with my and made me feel comfortable and confident in my ability to start climbing on my own.

Fantastic experience: The gym built three stand alone walls (15°, 30°, and 45°) that are really good. There aren't too many people when you reserve even if all the spots are taken. The manager, Kenneth, is friendly and remembers your name and asks what you are working on and is really supportive. Definitely go if you are in town.

Fantastic experience: Was able to get a indoor session in. Masking, and covid protocols enforced. They also have a outdoor climbing area.

Fantastic experience: We tried the family bouldering session yesterday for the first time with my two grandkids; 6 and 8 years old. Kenneth was amazing! He was professional, polite and thorough. Even connected with my grandson after he had a hard time giving the wall a try for the first time. We will definitely be back. An exceptional local business! Thank you, Kenneth.

Fantastic experience: Positive: Professionalism , Quality I brought my kids here on a Saturday afternoon. The young man at the front desk was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and professional. The gym was great, the restrooms clean, and most importantly my kids had fun! Thank you!

Fantastic experience: A very homey bouldering gym. Really good setting, although it is definitely on the reachier side, with some problems being near-impossible if you’re shorter than 5’5” or so. A small, but sufficient workout space. Especially good slab problems on their smooth wooden walls, which are a lot more interesting than those at most gyms due to smearing being difficult on the smooth wall.

Fantastic experience: Great climbing gym. Was in the area visiting family, and signed up for a month. Reasonable price, and the routes were varied and fun. The variety in difficulties and types of problems would have been great for a larger gym, but were even more impressive for a gym this size. Staff was warm and friendly, and it felt like a very welcoming place. Definitely will return when in the area.

Positive experience: I would give this place a 4 out of 5. The staff were great and it was fun, but some areas were closed off.

Fantastic experience: Great rock gym! While it does have a small footprint, the route setters definitely maximize the space they have. Currently there are 70+ routes that are up. Staff is friendly and there gym has a chill and supportive vibe

Fantastic experience: The place has showers free lockers and a sauna. They also have a cafe/lounge area and with outlets lto plug in your electronics. The problems are plenty, diverse and we'll set. The entire facility is well maintained and clean. The staff is friendly, and the yoga classes are geared specifically for climbers, not just the average Bay area watered up version. Altogether this is an amazing place with reasonable prices and pretty much everything you can ask for from a bouldering gym.

Fantastic experience: The best local bouldering gym in El Cerrito. I started rock climbing a few months ago and discovered this hidden gem through a friend. I now go here every weekend after trying it out for a couple weeks. They change their routes every 2-3 weeks to freshen things up, and I can literally spend up to 2 hours just climbing. After spending about 2 months climbing before I injured my finger, I was able to progress to V4. As I mentioned earlier, they have a nice gym here too which comes with standard gym equipment as well some tires and a sled. There are also a ton of pull up bars with varying grip formations, which I like to hit after climbing.

Fantastic experience: Great vibe and gym space as well as good bouldering. The showers have really nice products in them too. A little out of the way. Definitely cheaper and more laid back than touchstone gyms so a great choice if you just want to boulder.

Fantastic experience: Always impressed with the quality and cleanliness at this gym. I had planned on going to Iron Works, but remembered this place was closer to an appointment I had and switched my plans last minute. Very glad I did. I almost exclusively boulder, so this place automatically appeals to me. The expansion that includes a huge workout area surprised me. I’ll definitely be making a return trip in the near future.

Fantastic experience: Has a great time at the intro to bouldering class. Benny was an awesome instructor. Love the vibes of this place. Less crowded than other climbing gyms in the area, more room to spread out and do your own thing without having to wait and take turns. Good mix of serious climbers and normal people/families, so it's not as intimidating.

Fantastic experience: We had a lot of fun with the kids! A great spot, especially for a rainy day.

Fantastic experience: Bridges is that place every town and city wants. It's like that classic community boxing gym you see in the movies, where everybody knows (or is getting to know) everybody. The staff are super helpful and present with adults and kids alike, new climbers and seasoned vets. If you've never been to bridges, give them a try. Also, they just updated the weigh room to be geared far more toward climbers. They have yoga, slack, and martial arts classes too, but I'm not as familiar with those. Shout out to Benny and Kennith who've always been super warm and gracious.

Fantastic experience: This has been my favorite place to climb at. So much to choose from and do at Bridges..rock climbing, bags for kickboxing, calisthenics equipment, weights, cardio, slackline, weights, lounge, sauna, classes, etc.. . I take my family and friends here every chance I can. The staff is awesome and friendly. Something happened with my groupon and the staff really helped me out especially Cyrus! I recommend this place to anyone

Nicole Ulakovic 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: I don't have any other rock gyms to compare it to, but the experience as a beginner was amazing. There are easy problems to try out, harder stuff for when you get a little better, some insane-looking ones I haven't attempted but that look really fun for more advanced climbers, plus fingerboards to build grip strength, a slackline, a cardio area, and a weight room. I loved my experience and will absolutely be going back.

Fantastic experience: Had a great time at Bridges for their local USA Climbing Bouldering comp. Was reallly impressed with the diversity of terrain and setting. Seems like a really fun place year-round. Warning: it is very cold in the morning there.

Fantastic experience: First time visit at the request of my 12 year old grand-daughter and her 8 year old brother. Staff was supportive, welcoming and instructing both clearly. Kids had a great afternoon and I was able to watch/supervise from a comfortable seated position. They will return w/parents. I highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Nice clean gym, with helpful staff, lots of community activity, good locker room with Sauna and really nice smelling toiletries. Lockers with keys are available too! The rock climbing walls are regularly updated and maintained, the new extended hours are great too. I do wish the shoes and closed toe shoes policies we're enforced

Fantastic experience: Kids enjoyed a wonderful week of camp at bridges. Counselors were incredibly warm, friendly and inviting to my kids who had no prior climbing experience. Each of my kids achieved something special over the course of the week which made them feel stronger and more capable. Will certainly return!

Fantastic experience: Really nice staff and fun place to climb. Ive never been in the regular gym area but it looks decently well stocked. They have student discount nights ever friday which is nice too.

Fantastic experience: All around great staff and service. I’m fairly new to bouldering, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I arrived at 9am on a Saturday and was greeted by friendly staff. Even the members there were quite helpful with pointing out tips. It’s a bouldering gym, with plenty of problems for all levels. Easy parking as well.

Jesus Romo (Zeus) 5 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great rock gym with essential training features and classes. Genuine routes set to more classic and diverse styles than more trendy gyms, still quiet and not as much clout as larger gyms, and you can feel a deep sense of community among it’s members.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, friendly staff. Relatively high walls with the possibility of topping out on all of them will help you work on some of your mental issues ;) Just one downside: a lot of the holds were pretty polished, but that didn't really keep me from enjoying my time there. Overall everything was really great.

Fantastic experience: Took my 5 and 7 year old over here to try climbing. They had a blast, especially my 7 year old who really is amazing to watch. She is a real natural. The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and warm and friendly. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic experience: We're new to rock climbing and came to Bridges Rock Gym to try it out with our 9-year-old daughter. We couldn't have had a better experience! The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. The facilities were safe and we were all well challenged to try new skills!

Fantastic experience: I am writing this on behalf of my son who is attending the spring break camp and has also participated in the afterschool program when it was still drop in. I am so impressed with the instructors, especially Ernesto, for his enthusiasm, quality of interaction with the kids and easy, clear communication with parents. The gym is just big enough not to feel small and small enough to feel like a community. I appriate the atmosphere when it is on the quieter side during daytime hours. If I lived closer, we would certainly be active members and I look forward to signing my son up for more camps and classes. This is a great resource. Very comfortable and friendly staff.

Fantastic experience: Jason was our coach for our session. It was a small group of first time climbers so that worked well. He was great at explaining different techniques, what different boulders are called and how to use them. I had a fun time. I fell a few times and made it over the wall a few times. It is definitely a work out and was a really nice experience for it being my first time. Tip one, don't wear rings. My hands were a little sore and swollen after the climb, the shoes are really tight, you typically need about a size bigger than your normal size and even then they are supposed to be tight. The shoes smell really bad. Other than that- great time!!

Fantastic experience: Visited Bridges yesterday with my 6 year old. We had a great time, the staff was friendly, informative and patient. The bathrooms were super clean and had everything you'd need like showers, sauna, lockers, mirrors, tampons, blow dryer...and obviously toilets. We left happy and can't wait to visit again.

Fantastic experience: Bridges is one of the best bouldering gyms I've ever been to. I can't say that I am the most experienced; however, I've been to a handful of gyms now. Bridges definitely stands out. They offer a wide variety of climbs, and a good spread of difficulty levels. The crash pads look worn, but they're ready to take your fall. You can climb confidently! The climbs are fun, too, because they encourage you to climb over the top, and then reward you with easy, ladder like installations from which you may then climb down. If I had to say anything negative about Bridges, I would say that some of their handholds are worn to the point of being smooth (but not entirely, of course). This is frustrating to someone like me; however, I also have to say that this was different from what I'm used to, and in that spirit it was good for me to try to keep my grip on smoother handholds. Bonus: They have slack lines, and I pluralize to indicate that there are a variety of slack lines. If you're like me, and had only ever been on a gibbon classic or surfer, then you're in for a treat. All I all I would say that this is my in my top two favorite gyms, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Fantastic experience: It was great exactly what I was looking for. I had an insanely fun day with my friend bouldering. The only thing I didn't think of was how sore I would be after 6 hours of bouldering. The answer is... EXTREMELY SORE A way to lessen it though (for first time climbers), that I did not do is to stretch out your forearms, wrists, and fingers before you climbed. After you climb definitely try and take a bath.

Daniel Howe 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: Very cool. Bouldering for adults, kids can rope up for the 5.3’s in the corner. I especially like the walk off at the top. Brings a different sensation to gym climbing that typically only is experienced outdoors. Will come here again!

Laura Peters 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: My daughter and I have been looking for an indoor climbing gym where I, a beginner, and she, a more advanced climber, could both find routes to climb. Bridges exceeds our expectations. Great climbing for both, full gym, sauna, and great showers. Helpful, friendly staff. We will become members. Also, the price is reasonable!

Mike T 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: Excellent bouldering gym with plenty of nice walls with different features and grades and you can top out everywhere! The staff are helpful and friendly. It's also reasonably priced.

Steven Chang 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: Definitely one of my favorite climbing gyms. The workers are very friendly and nice. They do change up the bouldering courses every so often! Slacklining is available as well as belaying! There's a good amount of work out machines and free weights as well! Great for those who live closeby since they offer classes as well such as yoga.
