The Perfect Sidekick Queer Gym: Opinions

Fantastic experience: All the coaches are absolutely amazing! I love coach Robs energy n music choice, coach Chloe is a yoga master that your body will crave for, n coach Pallis really gets you sweating. You will feel each n every class! I feel like I’m exercising with my best friends! Their support is amazing. N my personal coach Liv is the sweetest and so helpful. Her wisdom and knowledge is greatly appreciated. They changed my life
Fantastic experience: This community is something special! I have always had difficulty losing weight and staying motivated with regular gyms. This gym not only provides work out, they provide a community! If you are looking to change your life and get healthy (whatever that means for you) I would encourage you to join The Queer Gym! I have been with the QG since April 2022 and I have lost about 50lbs and gained muscle mass throughout my body!
Fantastic experience: This gym is the first- and honestly just might be the ONLY gym I’ll ever join. The absolutely lovely team guiding everyone in each workout (and lifestyle classes!!) are so attentive, caring, and professional to the T. When it comes to big leaps, they’ve got the right attitude to keep me keeping up with my goals- even through big hurdles and obstacles. It’s all on the accountability- which they definitely pull through on. Shout out to Coach Rob for hearing me out through the thick and thin, and remembering the things I don’t! I’ve lost 10 pounds since I joined back in March and plan to keep leaning down, bulking up on the wonderful community both in their app and on Discord. Thank you Queer Gym!!!
Fantastic experience: I have had an amazing experience with Queer Gym. I love the workouts, and how personalized everything is. You get amazing support, and it’s just such a welcoming community.
Fantastic experience: So much more than a gym! From the first interaction I had with a member of this queer fitness community I felt seen and valid as my whole self. The coaches are encouraging, motivating and aspirations themselves! You will be smilin and sweatin for real, so worth it! Shoutouts to coaches Lisa, Slater and Chris, y’all are the best!
Fantastic experience: The Queer Gym has already made such a difference in my workout mindset. The community is filled to bursting with people like me. It's comforting and welcoming, and they will definitely push for accountability when necessary! We truly are all in this together. Thank you to Coach Rob for already being such a fantastic leader for me!
Fantastic experience: This is an awesome gym! I juggle 3 kids and a busy schedule, tons of stress, and every class I take I leave feeling better then when I logged in. The coaches are amazing and they community is even better. Worth the investment in myself in more ways then one.
Fantastic experience: If you’re in need of some queer community, this is where you will find it! Classes are fun and coaches easily modify workouts to fit individual needs. The program is pricey, but if you remember that your money is going to support the queer community, it doesn’t sting as bad :p
Fantastic experience: This has been a great program. Love the coaches and classes. My favorite class has been Tender Gender Yoga. It stretches everything and I felt amazing and ready for all of the other classes for the week
Fantastic experience: Well Well WELL! So you are wondering if the queer gym is any good? Let me tell you Queer Gym is the best! Coach Nat did a great job building this community over the years and you can really see how much growth, excitement, and adaptability Queer Gym creates. This is a supportive kick-butt community has your back, your biceps, your abs, and a bunch of muscles you didn't even know existed! Special shout out to Coach Slater for consistently rocking my socks right off. Listen, you will be stinky! you will be sweaty! But gosh dang it you will be sexy! xoxo, Gossip Pharrell JK its Tina
Fantastic experience: #QueerGym is the best place! As a virtual gym I meet queer people all over the country and feel very supported by coaches and peers alike. Highly recommend. :)
Fantastic experience: The Queer Gym is a mix of what I knew I needed and more. What I knew I needed was exercise. What I got was that, queer community, support from coaches and members alike, and confidence. My biggest takeaway so far is to just show up. It sounds cliche, but the ability to easily show up (no shoes, bra, or even socks needed) has helped me turn my "I can't"s into "I crushed it!" I have already accomplished a major goal of mine. Exercising 3 times a week. (Soon to be four) How? They allow me to just come. Camera on or off. There are times I'm still in bed 15 minutes before class, then surprise myself with how hard I've worked. Other times, I am already exhausted and can only lazily make it through half. Whether lazy for half class, or full in an entire class, it's more than the nothing I would have done without the the support of this community. I recommend the Queer Gym. Where you can be a human, flaws and all, on this journey with other humans working to better themselves. We work together to be stronger physically, mentally and as a the LGBTQIA+ Community! ~ Shay R.
Fantastic experience: I wish I had found this group during the pandemic! The entire community is incredibly supportive and it really feels like the coaches are in your corner and keeping me accountable!
Fantastic experience: I love this gym! I love the coaches and the community! I've become more healthy and happy since joining!
Fantastic experience: Absolutely the best place to workout, cuz it’s your own choice, virtually, plus, the coaches are so flippin awesome!!
Fantastic experience: I have never felt so accepted , supported and loved at a gym, I love and hate that it’s virtual because there are so many people I would actually love to be friends with in person. It’s not too expensive either, this is such a great place to be, I love it here ️
Fantastic experience: The Queer Gym is the best place for the LGBT community. All the coaches are motivating and encouraging. If you’re uncomfortable in a regular gym. The queer gym is the best place for you.
Fantastic experience: This gym is it! The gym classes will push you to your limits (but you're always encouraged to go at your own pace), and they have super fun names for a nice touch -- Anti-Fascist fight club is my personal favorite! The Adulting classes are also incredibly helpful that spans subjects about time/money management to meal prepping, and other things that anyone could find something valuable in. They're really great. The meal plan is explained in simple terms and even people like myself who have been on a ton of diets or "nutrition kicks" will still learn something about how you should be interacting with food. The coaches are awesome and very supportive no matter where you are in your fitness journey. Big shoutouts to Coach List, Coach Chloe, and of course, Coach Nat! So much to love about this gym experience!
Fantastic experience: The community is absolutely fantastic and the workouts are great. Always end a session drenched in sweat and the coaches are always right there to give you a modification if you can’t do a move. Class is always a combo of laughs, sweat, and encouragement!
Fantastic experience: My past experience with gyms and trainers was so negative. Working out was like a punishment, so I was hesitant to be a part of another gym. But after the first call with Coach Nat, I was SO IN! The classes and coaches completely honor you with where you’re at in your fitness journey. It’s a safe place for LGBTQA+ and they’ve built an amazing community that supports each other. Exercise is win, a time of enjoyment, and each class leaves me in a sweat and with a full heart!
Fantastic experience: I joined the queer gym a few months ago to get some workouts in, improve my food choices, physical fitness and better my cholesterol. Coaches Slater and Lisa have both done a great job pushing me toward my potential, they don't just demonstrate how to do exercises but they workout with us which makes the classes so much more interactive and effective. My cholesterol numbers improved and I lost more than 10 pounds, so I appreciate the support getting there!
Fantastic experience: I love coach slater they gets me pumped to start my day and is understanding that I have my child with me and their playlist rocks I definitely am guilty of looking for their name when I sign up for classes
Fantastic experience: I joined this gym in early February and have been enjoying it ever since! Coach Wagon is extremely positive and encouraging, every class with him feels like a party. Coach Lisa is super creative with the routines she brings to the workouts and that variety of movement keeps me motivated. Coach Nat is a knowledgeable mentor and I look forward to the meetings I have with her to ask questions. The community aspect of this gym is also out of this world, you never feel alone in your workout struggles or wins here! Would 100% recommend to anyone looking to join a new exercise community!
Fantastic experience: Working out with the Queer Gym, I have found that this has been the most supportive gym community I have been part of. The inclusivity that Coach Nat, Coach Rob, and Coach Wagon bring to each of their workouts honestly makes me feel like I'm part of a community. The accountability and nutrition guides really helped me better understand how to take care of my body in a simple and comprehensive way. This is truly the first time I have consistently worked out for a long period of time and I can feel the results from the ease I have found progressively through improving my push ups, sit ups, and even the occasional burpee ;)
Fantastic experience: Been with the queer gym just shy of 3 weeks. So far I've had amazing help, support, and coaching. Coach Nat has been amazing. The community and environment they've built around fitness is great. I've always avoided gyms for fear of judgement, but the inclusiveness of all the classes rocks!
Fantastic experience: If you have ever found yourself uncomfortable in traditional gym environments, you will find yourself at home here. The community is bangin, the workouts are killer, and not only are we getting in amazing shape, I have so much fun doing it.
Fantastic experience: This place has changed my life. The coaches are so passionate and considerate. The classes are lively and energetic. Everyone is in it together and it rocks my f*ckin' socks!! The nutrition plan works, the workouts are brutal in the best way possible (looking at you Coach Lisa). I'm so happy I found this place. Such a wonderful place to be myself and not be ashamed of who I am. If I could, I'd give it 10 stars!!
Fantastic experience: I have only been with The Queer Gym for about 3 weeks now, but I have truly enjoyed my experience. I love that all the coaches I have encountered are so friendly and helpful, I LOVE their energy and enthusiasm. And I really like that everyone else working out with me seem to be friendly and accepting as well. I appreciate the time the coaches take to help us in whatever ways they can, whether that be with different ways to do our workouts or asking us how we are as a person not just as a class or even the one on one when they message or video you to make sure your workout went well. They are human too and have lives as well, but they treat me with respect and acknowledge my health and Queer journey, which is a lot for me. I’d like to personally thank them all for their kindness they’ve shown me so far.
Fantastic experience: I’m three weeks in to the Academy program. It is absolutely wonderful! The coach’s are high energy and really supportive. Coach Rob is a sweetheart, so encouraging and really helpful with helping figuring out how achieve your goals. Coach Lisa is also amazing and so knowledgeable about the body and how to modify exercises so I can do them. In just three weeks I’m seeing results. I’m getting stronger, my stamina in getting better, I’m able to walk farther. I was worried about working out online but they make it fun and community of people are super supportive and will cheer you on. I highly recommend Queer Gym. It’s very Accepting place in all ways. I have a lot medical issues and they have helped me come up with routine of exercise I can do safety and successfully. You truly will not be judged here. You can bring yourself in whatever shape your in and they can help.
Fantastic experience: I have had the time of my LIFE getting back in touch with my body with this incredible community of stellar coaches and wonderful members. The classes are the highlights of my day!!
Fantastic experience: I’ve been with Queer Gym for the past two months now, and it’s been the best time! I usually get really insecure with not knowing what to do with the equipment at the gyms, but with having all the workouts be over zoom, it helps with not only connecting to other queers across the country, but also helps build a sense of community with completing your workout and feeling satisfied!
Fantastic experience: I'm so thankful for The Queer Gym! I genuinely look forward to classes for the workouts, the members, and the coaches. I'm about five weeks into my program and really impressed with the results (pics attached, be nice!!). I like that my program is nuanced for my specific goals and that Coach Nat is helping me realize that the scale isn't the only indicator of progress. I can currently do like 5 pushups with good form now - couldn't even do one before I started with TQG. Progress! lol I'm also learning about nutrition, sleep hygiene, and a whole slew of things that contribute to the healthy lifestyle I'm trying to achieve. It's a good bang for your buck, but I can see how people think it's pricey if they're not taking full advantage of all TQG offers. I love that the classes are all different fitness levels (coaches provide alternatives to most exercises, encourage you to push yourself but listen to your body, and also invite you to keep your camera on, but respect boundaries if you keep it off). I've met some awesome people and really like the use of Discord to create community. The community is as motivating to me as seeing progress in my own body. Also it's fun to work out?? I don't ever want to say I'm glad for the pandemic - bc I'm absolutely not - BUT I am glad that this gym moved online so I can access it from the East Coast.
Fantastic experience: Positive: Communication , Professionalism , Quality The Queer Gym is a fun environment with awesome coaches and inclusive exercises and modifications as needed. I'm still figuring out my nutritional needs but I think their assistance in nutrition has helped me out so much thus far!
Fantastic experience: I love the Queer gym. I was skeptical at first as I've been (or wanted to be!) an active person all my life, but have never loved working out. Or being making any changes to what I eat. However, after sitting around for the first month of quarantine, I finally realized it was time to make a change to be the healthiest version of me possible and gave it a shot. The accountability coaching, fun programming and 100% online classes have worked wonders for me. I love being a part of an open, welcoming, fabulous queer community, especially right now since we can't get together in person. Just stop hesitating, sign up.
Fantastic experience: Joined this gym to help with my LONELY SAD MONOTONE life during shelter in place. Now I regularly get a burst of endorphins by doing (modified) pushup competitions with my queer family, while blasting RuPauls the Realness. It’s pricy- but I’m paying for quality and access to the healthy queer love of this SAFE space for all bodies- trans, non-binary, butch, femme, fat or skinny. ♂️ Even my kitten approves of my new energy and joy. Gym has switched to an all-online format due to the silliness of paying rent during the pandemic paradigm. Basically it means no commute! Also my cats are entertained.
Fantastic experience: The queer gym has offered me a place to workout where I have felt supported both in class and outside of it within the community. I haven't felt safe to be my full queer self in this kind of fitness setting before and I think it's a huge reason why I'm (finally!) motivated to work out consistently and with any amount of enthusiasm. The coaches are positive, firm and totally engaged.
Fantastic experience: This gym has been a life-saver for me during the pandemic. The coaches and owners are all queer and mostly POC. They worked with me to make the gym accessible financially, and most importantly, the sense of community and camaraderie has been a godsend for my mental health. The Queer Gym is such a good community and such a good way to take care of yourself. I recommend starting with one of the challenges and going from there! Coach KJ is the literal best. <3
Fantastic experience: This gym is incredible. I have felt welcomed from my very first workout! The workouts are challenging for folks at all levels. The coaches are there to answer any questions and guide you, and are completely present and attentive throughout every workout. They also have customized nutrition plans which have considerably expedited my results! And finally, there is mega accountability throughout every step of the way. The motivation never stops with the queer gym! I am so thankful to be a part of this gym and recommend it to anyone looking for a gym that respects you for you, while also pushing you to be better!
Fantastic experience: The staff is super kind and helpful, will keep you accountable and do their best to help you out. Highly recommend if you are trans or queer and haven’t felt comfortable in gyms before. I’ve learned how to love and care for myself more. Classes are relatively small, ranging from a few people to less than 20, and it all seems very manageable. The members are all super great, and it brings a nice social aspect and comradery to the virtual gym room setting. Love the coaches, even if you want to strangle them sometimes. It’s the best kind of love.
Fantastic experience: Its so amazing to finally have a space that feels safe and inclusive for the Queer community. The coaches are great, and tailor workouts to individual ability, which is great due to numerous injuries. This place is truly a community, and I feel the support of the other members and coaches, which is super motivating when working out. I feel inspired to workout for fun, not due to the need to "fix" any part of me. Any place that encourages me to bring my whole self to their space has a high rating in my book :)
Fantastic experience: I joined the gym after following them on Instagram for about two months. I thoroughly went thru their social media and decided to join for the Homebody Challenge after doing research. From the first call with Coach JoJo I knew this was a place for me. The coaches are amazing, they all have great energy and gave us amazing workouts. I have arthritis on my spine and gastrointestinal issues as well. Getting coached by the amazing Coach KJ was an incredible experience. I was working with a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist that was very invalidating and would not listen to my requests that I needed to stay on a vegetarian diet due to the GI issues and the arthritis. Coach KJ was so much more helpful than the RDN with providing nutritional guidance and validating what I was experiencing. I did blood work right before starting the challenge and again this morning and the inflammation markers have gone down significantly!! It takes a village and I certainly know that with the nutrition piece together with the workouts I have been able to improve my health overall. My main goal was to be stronger, not necessarily to lose weight. I asked for modifications to the exercises when I needed it and that was also very helpful. I joined to help my body deal with the arthritis and I have been accomplishing that. I feel so much better, my physical therapist even cleared me today so I don't have to see her anymore. She recommended I just continue with my workouts through the gym. :) Lastly, I will add that the community piece helps a ton. I found the space where I am accepted for who I am, I can't really do that ilin many spaces in my daily life, a place that doesn't involve alcohol. Everyone is so friendly, encouraging and amazing. All the coaches are amazing at what they do. We held each other up and cheered each other on. It's been overall a pretty awesome experience.
Fantastic experience: I have been to countless gyms, in many different cities, trying to find the perfect one where it just doesn't feel weird. Somewhere I can actually workout without feeling like I'm being judged. The queer gym was definitely the answer and then some, being trans FTM, they understand what it's like, and so are your fellow gym members. There's no judgements, and your coach is right there making sure you're doing what you're supposed to be doing. I haven't ever been in such a great environment where I feel like it's actually fun to workout and have a good time getting to know everyone. The workouts are awesome, the coaches are even more cool, and it's a welcoming environment. What more could anyone ask for?
Fantastic experience: First i should say that i am not the “gym type” i just don’t usually workout in the way The Queer Gym hosts their program. I started out with a 4 week academy and i have to say this program really did change my life. It showed me something that i never knew about myself and that is that i really can do it! The coaching program is great. The accountability and the meal planning really kept me on track. The workouts were hard, but the trainers are really accommodating. Every class starts with a little group activity of getting names and pronouns and then answering a question. The coaches worked really well with helping me to strengthen after an injury. Wish i could have stayed longer unfortunately this was a treat to myself and the pricing was a little out of my reach. Overall this program is incredible and if i could give them all my money and live here i would!
Fantastic experience: The Queer Gym is full of really great people - both the coaches and other gym members. The coaches are attentive to everyone's needs, accommodating of injuries, and they really push you to sweat and surpass your goals in an unobnoxious, supportive way. I was having a really hard time with not being able to go to the gym during the pandemic lockdown, and the boredom and repetition of just going on nightly runs in my own neighborhood was starting to get to me. I did the 28 day challenge, and it really helped to kick start my fitness program and keep me accountable while giving me new workouts each week to fight the tedium. After the challenge I continued on with classes and coaching and am seeing consistent results in terms of increased strength and overall fitness. Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic experience: I've worked out at so many different gyms in so many different cities...Cross Fit, Kaia Fit, Krav Maga, Crunch, Planet Fitness, Plyometrics--literally I will try anything to convince me to work out. Queer Gym is different. They are SERIOUS about you feeling good not only about the workouts they provide, but also about yourself WHILE YOU'RE WORKING OUT! That is HUGE! And amazing for motivation to keep pushing and showing up :) Plus, the workouts are KILLER. In the best way. Even when I get nervous looking at a workout, it always ends up being a blast. The sheer feeling of community at Queer Gym is definitely what sets them apart. First time showing up I felt welcomed for exactly who I am and what my goals are. It's such a good feeling, since working out (especially when you are feeling not in shape) can be so intimidating--not here! Every single coach (and member for that matter) wants to see you succeed. Everyone is committed to your success. But what about COVID? Very little has changed with the structure of workouts too, which really helps normalized working out during lockdown. Add in the fact that these coaches are always working to find safe and healthy ways for all us Homies to socialize and foster community--seriously what more could you ask for?? If you're looking for a gym that is going to not only push you to achieve your fitness goals, but also care about your mental health and overall well-being, there is literally no place better. I am in a much happier place mentally since joining the Queer Gym, and I am getting more and more comfortable with my body everyday as all of the QG coaches work to push me to my personal best.
Fantastic experience: I joined this gym during quarantine and honestly it's been by far my best gym experience ever. I enjoy interacting with all the coaches in different classes. The online classes actually feel more personal than a regular gym class (which i used to hate) and now i look forward to my 3 or 4 classes a week. It's been such an amazing experience I'm planning to stay on for forever. Getting fit and having fun.
Fantastic experience: The coaches at the Queer Gym are absolutely fantastic!! Each one brings a different element to the workouts and provide excellent support! The programs they run are spectacular, they communicate with you to ensure you're getting what you need, and they make sure to hold you accountable to your goals! The workouts are hard and challenge you to push yourself, and it isn't easy, but it's extremely worth it! I've been working with this gym for only two weeks and I already feel so much better! I highly recommend giving this place a try, especially since they also offer complete workouts entirely online!
Fantastic experience: Awesome experience! Coaches are friendly and offer different variations to workouts depending on your needs from day to day. The energy is positive ad the vibe is super chill. I also felt like a welcomed member of the community even though I was working virtually at home. Everyone gave it their all and encouraged each other during the sessions. Thanks for keeping it upbeat and making me want to push myself further than I thought I could. I would definitely recommend the 30 Day Challenge to anyone, regardless of skill-level. If you want options for various workouts multiple times a day, and if you need positive encouragement and a great group to journey with, this is the place!
Fantastic experience: LOVE the queer gym. It's not just a gym, it's a community. I took the 4 week challenge and it has been amazing to jumpstart better eating and becoming active again. Coach KJ was incredible and I highly recommend her classes and she did a killer job helping me stay accountable. She constantly checked in on what I needed for better support and she seemed to step in and give me a boost right exactly when I needed it. My only wish is that there were more classes at varied times, but I'm sure that could come as the gym expands. THANK YOU!
Fantastic experience: Wow! I'm so so glad I found Queer Gym! I needed a safe, loving place to get back into the practice of working out and energizing my body and I found it here! What a beautiful community of humans! It's wonderful to workout online with people that look like me who bring the same energy. I have coach Nat as my coach for the homobody challenge and she is just the best. Kind and supportive while being direct and straight up about facts and information. The rest of the coaches are awesome too! They have great attention to detail and bring a lively "you got this" attitude to every class. The last thing I want in a workout is an instructor that is grumpy or rude. Everyone at the Queer Gym is considerate, kind, inclusive and helpful. I look forward to many more classes!
Fantastic experience: This gym is such a special place. It is a safe environment that truly cares about helping you meet your goals, planning how to achieve them and HAVE FUN along the way! The coaches are all incredibly engaging and the atmosphere is truly special. In the setting of this pandemic, like water filling any shape it finds itself in, the gym transitioned online and somehow managed to make the experience even more amazing. I cannot recommend enough!
