The class is a great workout by itself but you can also stay and train after class for even more of a workout. I definitely improved my fitness level training here.

Experiencia fantástica: I never actually dreamed that I would learn any of the martial arts (I'm historically nonathletic and inherently clumsy), so they always seemed pretty much out of reach for me. However, over the past few years I've taken more responsibility for my health and life decisions in general, and the newest great life decision that I've made was signing on to train at Gracie Jiu Jitsu of the Upper Valley. Just like many others have said, Nick is patient and encouraging, but also knows when to push you, and the more experienced students that I have trained with are always ready to share what they know and work with you to improve your technique. I'm very thankful to have found this place, and I'm very excited to see where I'll be another few years down the road... ;)

Nick is patient and very knowledgeable, willing to take the time to ensure you are learning each move correctly. Experiencia fantástica: My son has never been into team sports and was the typical 9 year old who (admittedly my fault) was too "plugged in" to technology, since starting Jiu-jitsu he is a different kid. His first "go to" is no longer something electronic, now it's playing fooseball, swimming, making things, or practicing his "sprawls" on the exercise ball. My son has always been a kind hearted and honest kid but he has stepped up 10 fold with regard to responsibility. Experiencia fantástica: So I initially was going to the gym lifting when I was told that I should consider martial arts as another form of exercise while learning something valuable. After thinking on it for a couple days I decided I would try Jiu Jitsu, and was recommended Gracie Jiu-Jitsu of the Upper Valley. This was one of the best decisions I have ever made, Jiu Jitsu is extremely engaging, fun, and an awesome experience all around. Nick Bramlage is extremely well versed and has a vast knowledge of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. He is great to work with and is very patient when explaining how to execute techniques while also critiquing your form throughout the technique. The community and people that are apart of this establishment strengthen the already solid foundation and make you want to return. Anyone interested in either Jiu-Jitsu​ or just martial arts as a whole, I can wholeheartedly recommend this establishment and anyone involved!!!

I feel they do a awesome job training people of all ages. Nik is wonderful at helping the kids feel comfortable with their moves and know what is expected of them. Watching these two wrestle and use their moves with respect has also been a great experience in our home. They never lose control or get angry because of the respect and discipline that has been instilled in them through jiu jitsu. So grateful we have begun this process. We also had my sons 7 year old birthday party here. Everyone that attended said it was the best birthday party they have ever been to. My son couldn't have been more happy. It was a dream for him!

Experiencia fantástica: I began my Gracie BJJ journey with Head Sensei, Nick B. He's a compassionate, good-humored, positive, and badass instructor, who's the real deal. He's here to teach, to train, and to really see that his students solidly progress within the martial art. I've trained in Tae Kwon Do, previously, and played various sports, working with a wide variety of athletic coaches. In my personal experience, I've never worked with a man as good at teaching as Nick (both directly through lessons after warm-ups and indirectly during actual mat time). Check out the Academy. Don't be intimidated at first. It's all good.

Coach Nick is an incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and effective instructor. It is not like joining a health club or gym -- where you usually succeed or fail alone. Between Nick and the other students, it is much more like an extended family that you learn with. Proficiency in the Gracie Jiu Jitsu craft is a journey that takes a lot of dedication and humility, but there's no better place to do it than here. So yes, I recommend it.

Experiencia fantástica: Before moving to Vermont, we lived in Missouri for a short period of time. My then 7 year old was at a Boys and Girls Club for Summer Camp when a little boy about his age punched my son in the face. It all started with a misunderstanding that quickly escalated into a physical altercation. My son didn't know how to defend his self; I don't think anyone ever taught him how to ever punch. When we moved to Vermont, I searched for different martial arts/fighting classes not sure which would be the best and not familiar with any. But, truth be told, I remember watching several episodes of Dexter and finding out the character was trained in Jiu-Jitsu and I thought to Google it. My son is now 10 and has been attending anti-bullying classes for the last 1.5 years. My husband and I are pleased with the training he is receiving, the leadership and guidance he is under, the reputation of the program and how they make sure their students exhibit great respect and behavior even outside class. My son loves going and he's more gotten outside of his shell. Now, I feel confident he can defend his self but he's also taught to defuse similar situations so it never even reaches a physical level which is even better!
