Baxter Close YMCA

Experiencia positiva: I have been very happy with this YMCA until today. Went there on a Sunday expecting them to open on time at 1pm. A crowd was gathered outside waiting for the doors to open punctually but no staff came. Another member and myself left after 20 minutes to try out the Springs Complex Y. While at the Springs Complex Y I threw my back out on the ancient gym equipment at this older YMCA which was no fun. I have a history of lower back problems and after working out in the Baxter Gym I got use to having my lower back isolated on their newer gym equipment to prevent any back injuries. I feel like this injury would not have happened had Baxter opened up on time. I understand that staff may need to call out from time to time but shouldn't the YMCA have back-up employees? This Baxter YMCA seems a little overstaffed so I don't see what the issue is with opening on time.

Experiencia fantástica: Today, 7-28-22, was my first visit to the Baxter Close YMCA. I can hardly express what a great experience I had. First of all, I found the grounds very clean and well manicured. Secondly, when I first entered the main entrance, I was greeted with a smile and given directions to the weight and cardio floor. The number of machines and cleanness of the floor were amazing. After my workout, I approached the main floor desk to find out more information about where other areas of the facility were located. Missy, warmly introduced herself as the membership director. She answered every question I had about the facility and even gave me some interesting information on the history of the facility. Both the first gentleman that greeted me and Missy are both an asset to the entire YMCA organization. This was my first time at the Baxtor Close YMCA, but it will not be my last. I will be spreading the news of how awesome the members are treated and how contemporary the facility is decorated and designed. -homer

Experiencia fantástica: Great YMCA. Facilities are great. I wish they opened earlier on Sunday, but otherwise the hours are great. I take my daughter to childwatch and she loves it. Great staff.

Experiencia fantástica: I and the kids visit regularly. Mostly for swim classes. The location have classes all year long and the instructor are great. Shout out to Max. He’s been helping me become a great swimmer ‍♀️.

Experiencia positiva: We joined Riverwalk for the Summer but will hit all the water parks we can. Only been once to Baxter so far. Really like the pool set up but one thing I thought was interesting and maybe it will change but the pool closes at 6pm. Seems pretty early for the Summer. With so many working families that probably get off at 5 it's pretty difficult for them to make it to the pool. I'm willing to bet you get MORE folks to sign up if the pool was open a little later. Would a small compromise work where the pool closes say at 7 a couple of days a week like a Tues or Wed? It's just 1 more hour for the staff who are already there but a good # of families could now make it to the pool a couple of times after work. The Y gets more members, lifeguards make a bit more $ and families get out together and enjoy that cool set up. A win win win for all parties.

Experiencia positiva: We used to get a summer membership to utilize the amazing outdoor pool. But this year they’ve increased the joining fee to $100. $210 For my kids to swim all summer long was some thing I was willing to pay. But adding this fee, when families are already struggling financially, is more like a kick in the shins. I was counting on bringing my kids to the pool all summer. Now I either have to pay a lot more that I didn’t budget, or find something entirely different to occupy my kids this summer. Thanks Y...

Experiencia fantástica: Great place, The employees are great and it’s a great place to go if you want to get back in shape and they support your rights and they won’t bother you if you don’t wear a mask

Experiencia fantástica: This is a fun YMCA location that is very large. The one thing that stands out is the game room that they have for kids. They also have nice racket ball courts. The yoga here is also amazing. Great staff too.

Experiencia fantástica: Great experience with swim classes here for my almost 4 year old. I absolutely love the staff and my girl has learned so much in a short time . Finally found a place where she is learning and making progress monthly !

Experiencia positiva: It's an older facility that needs lots of upgrades. Only use it for practicing scuba since they have a large pool.

Experiencia fantástica: Love this place!! I've been going now for two years and couldn't be happier. Yes it gets busy in the summer when kids are out of school but overall they have a friendly staff and will address any issues you have. Check them out I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Experiencia fantástica: We come from Ohio to visit my brother in Charlotte and love this place! We use the outside pool in the summer. This past summer we were offered an out of town family pass which was wonderful! The lifeguards and staff treat us like family.

Experiencia fantástica: I live this YMCA. Nice weight room, great outdoor water park and nice racquetball courts too. Great place and very nice people to be found here too.
