Experiencia negativa: The gym is solid and has almost everything you need. The exception... its small and has one machine of each type. Groups of kids usually hog certain machines or "reserve" them by putting their stuff on them. Working out here feels like a game of musical chairs and a 45 min workout turns into an hour and a half because you spend most of your time waiting for a machine or equipment to be free. It sucks because the other locations are further away from where I live.

Experiencia positiva: I visited for a 3 day trial in 2021 and was unimpressed back then as several pieces of equipment and other parts of the facility itself were in a state of disrepair. I did another trial visit this past week and felt that my overall experience this time was much better. I only noticed one cable machine that was broken. I did a warm up jog on a treadmill and observed that all or most of the other treadmills and ellipticals were running. The same improvement could be said for any other cable machines and equipment I came across by the free weight section. It appeared there was only one staff member working that evening who I interacted with. He was welcoming, professional and handsome. I felt I had great service from him as he provided a tour and answered any questions I had. The only issue I had on this visit may be with some of the clientele and hygeine. There was a very strong body odor smell lingering in the free weight section. As if people came to exercise in dirty clothes, got sweaty and did not clean up after themselves. I would also love if this location got a roman chair or similar equipment for exercises involving the core.

Experiencia fantástica: Exactly what you are looking for when considering a gym. Clean and modern equipment. Nice spacious, well lit environment. The hydromassage chair is a must try. They even have tanning booths, well booth since only 1 works I guess... I have personally seen people of all ages and body types there so it is a comfortable place to get the blood pumping

Experiencia positiva: I like this gym a lot. Everytime I come it’s never to busy. The only thing I would like to see is MORE/NEW equipment. The other crunch locations have newer equipment like hack squats, booty builder machines, etc. I think this location should definitely upgrade too. I know this gym is smaller compared to the other two locations nearby, but if they swapped some of the old machines out.. it could work. I know I can’t be the only one thinking it lol but other than that, the gym is great.

Experiencia negativa: SCAM GYM! DONT SIGN UP... Equipment is low quality and falling apart. I had a friend visit the facility as a guest for one day. I had trouble using my guest privileges because the "bouncer" (or "coach" as cruch calls it) forcibly made them sign up for a membership as we checked in together, after, they proceeded to get injured while using the equipment because the treadmill broke. I wasn't happy with the quality of the machines too (weight cords were snapping, pads are worn down into the foam, treadmill tread is so loose it detaches from the machine, ect) :c NOPE WE AINT DONE YET THO! After we both decided to take business elsewhere, crunch, won't cancel the membership. Both my friends and I had to cancel our cards and call our banks to get this situated. Because even after emailing, and getting called 3 times with someone threating us not to cancel our membership they are still charging us. But instead of regular $25, nope they've been charging that, plus, the cancelation fee on top since we canceled $85 total for about 3 months now. So now after 3 month of not going to this gym we spent $255 each. Thanks for reading. If you are a customer try to go elsewhere. It's way cheaper in the longrun and most gyms will maintain their equipment more regularly for the same price or even cheaper.

Experiencia fantástica: I contracted hand, foot, and mouth from Planet Fitness on Maple because they never fill their paper towels and no one was cleaning their machines as a result. I called and they told me "it's not their sole job to be checking the paper towels." and that the customers should be bringing it to their attention. I should not have to tell someone about paper towels every time I go. I even went back two months later and walked right back out because the paper towels were STILL empty. So I canceled my membership with them and signed on with Crunch. Literally my first day here and a worker (I'm assuming a manager or possibly the owner) was literally cleaning down the treadmills! I was so impressed. Every time I have gone someone is doing some kind of cleaning and I love that. I also love that they use regular towels for wiping down the machines because then you know towels will always be available. It's also not as crowded as PF which is nice. I feel like the workers here actually care. I will definitely be using Crunch as my gym from now on

I’ve been a member in gyms for years and the staff at Crunch Amherst is unmatched. They are so friendly and the whole gym gives a community/neighborhood feel. Shout out to management they are so understanding and always are there to listen and help in anyway they can:)

I go at all different times and it’s never overly crowded. I’m so glad that they stayed open otherwise I’d be lost without them!

Experiencia fantástica: This location specifically is the only one to go to. From the cleanliness down to the awesome manager Renee, I wouldn’t go anywhere else to work out! She makes women feel comfortable, will answer any questions without being too busy, and is CONSTANTLY seen by patrons cleaning and interacting. I am so happy to have joined this gym! It’s important to feel welcomed and wanted, not just a nameless member. Keep up the amazing work!

Experiencia fantástica: Love this gym! They have made so many improvements in the last year and the manager Renee is wonderful. The gym is always clean as well as the bathrooms…new rags out regularly and staff vacuuming/cleaning which is so important for a gym. Her staff are all very nice and helpful. So sad to see this location close and hopefully Renee and her team go to the tonawanda location!

Experiencia negativa: Lately there’s been a lot of construction, blocking all of the machines I wanted to use. There isn’t a notice of when they would be done with this construction, it seems to come out of the blue. If you need to use the squat stands or cardio machines, I would recommend going to the one in Tonawanda.

The staff is very friendly and welcoming, and they keep their social media updated re: classes, closing, etc. I don't feel judged by other members here, either. Everyone seems to mind their own workout and shares/wipes down equipment.

Experiencia fantástica: If you're reading reviews to decided whether or not to check out Crunch Amherst, focus on the ones written since January 2022 and after! This gym is under new ownership since then, and the new owners have made every effort to improve the facility. They have also added/upgraded equipment. One of the owners, Mike, is awesome! You'll often find him at the front desk, in the morning, greeting members, chatting with his employees, vacuuming, mopping ...... you can tell he really loves that place! I've been going to this gym since 2018. I did personal training for a while, and now I go to the group fitness classes, which I love! The instructors are awesome, and so are the members ❤️

Experiencia fantástica: As the first gym I decided to go to, I absolutely love it. The people and the staff are super chill and approachable! I come her 5/7 times a week. Since this is a "smaller gym" it never feels overcrowded. I love it!

The gym is always clean and they always have staff members checking to make spray bottles are full and the equipment is working properly. They are under new local ownership and you can just tell that they are very passionate about making this gym an awesome place to workout. I would highly recommend this Crunch to anyone looking for a gym! Best value around.

Called and was told I either had to stop in or mail a letter, which isn’t a big deal. But why couldn’t they have told me this in email before continuing to charge me? They won’t refund me, either. They also only have 1 squat rack.

Experiencia negativa: I tried canceling my membership well before they reopened due to COVID. It took almost until re-opening day for the manager to get back to me and all they said was " I will take care of it sir". Now I received a bill for September. Can't get anyone to call back because supposedly no manager is on duty at Amherst branch, ever!

Experiencia negativa: 75% of the treadmills are broken, every day brings a new fatality of one or two machines. Everything is dirty especially the locker rooms. Only redeeming thing is the price.

Experiencia negativa: Yesterday I left Crunch Fitness a message about a fraudulent account opened in my name. A few days before, I called the number on my bank statement only to be left on hold for 49 minutes while they “try to figure it out” then said they’d call me back within a day (they didn’t). The team on FB gave me an email to contact (as it’s “the easiest way to get in touch with our team!”) which will soon be going on 24 hours with no response. When your credit card number is stolen and used for their benefit don’t expect them to do anything about it. Now I’ll be filing a police report for whoever did this and leaving a review where ever I can about my experience with Crunch trying to get this fixed.

Experiencia positiva: Not a bad gym. Only has one squat rack, and no DL platforms. Sometimes stuff is out of order & it takes awhile to get fixed. It's kinda chilly, too, even for a gym. Has lots of resistance & cardio machines if you're into that. It's clean and well lit. Has a good mix of customers: young, old, fat & fit. Priced for what it is.

Experiencia negativa: There are 3 Crunch facilities in the area. This one is by far THE WORST. The equipment pictured on the website is NOT at this location. Poorly maintained. Basic equipment that is broke alot. Always out of paper towels. They can't even keep the clocks running correctly. Way better gyms elsewhere.

Experiencia negativa: This place is the worst. My daughter was a faithful customer. She went off to college and tried to cancel her membership. They refused to cancel unless she came into the gym. She was home this weekend and finally got into the gym to cancel and they told her she had to pay almost $100 and they wouldn't cancel until she did. Biggest scam ever! She had not been to the gym in 3 months and they refused to cancel on the phone. Don't waste your time with a place that takes advantage of young college students. There are plenty of better gyms in the area!

The customer rep said that my account was cancelled but it was just frozen and I got charged. I had to spend 1 hour just trying to get get them to understand, and I had to cancel again. Dont go there

Experiencia negativa: Tried to cancel multiple times but still charges me, much better off with la fitness. Easy to cancel, access to pool and heavy bags. Even if it’s a little more I’d rather spend money with people who do good business.

Experiencia positiva: Small. Nice gym but they have ONE SQUAT RACK. Just one. ITS NEVER EMPTY. I’ll be ending my contract only because of that. Whoever wants nice quads you won’t get them from this gym with only one squat rack and 2 Smith machines like who uses those take those out!!

Experiencia positiva: Nice gym. It's clean and relatively big.. but they need to invest into another squat rack. There is absolutely no need to have 2 smith machines and 1 regular squat rack. Every time I have been here, that rack is taken so I have not been able to perform squats or barbell overhead press in weeks. Their barbells suck as well, very slippery and uncomfortable to hold during row work

I constantly see people who obviously need help and it would be nice if a trainer offered a free tip so they don't hurt themselves. The "free training session" is a joke and not taken seriously by the trainer. These people need your help!

Experiencia fantástica: Love Crunch!! Have been a member for over a year and wouldn't switch. It's laid back and friendly. Only annoyance is sometimes the music is too loud when there's a class but other than that I'm completely satisfied. REVISED AFTER ANOTHER YEAR: I joined Crunch over 2 years ago and am still going strong. I have body issues and this is the only gym I've ever been too where I don't feel like I'm being judged by other participants. It's a good place to go and sweat. I just use the machines and for $10 a month it is worth the price. The managers are nice as are the staff. Sometimes the college kids who work there may be too interested in their phone to talk to you, but to be honest, I don't care. I'm there to work out and nothing less. Crunch is what I want from a gym.
