Experiencia negativa: I have been a member for less than a week and have had 3 disappointing interactions with the staff and honestly do not feel welcome here and wish I had never joined. The first staff did not know what they were talking about, the second staff acted as if me asking him questions was a bother to him even though it was 530 am and there was no other members at the desk and yesterday my daughter and I went to a yoga class for the first time and we asked where the class was located and the man at the desk said he did not know and he had never been downstairs. I find this hard to believe and would feel better if he would just say they are not really welcoming for everyone. I regret joining and will be looking into a way to cancel.

Experiencia fantástica: I absolutely love this place! Unlike other gyms we’ve been to that feel more like a business, this one truly feels like a community. We’ve been members for two months and have really enjoyed both the heated pool and the gym. Last night, we attended a fantastic cooking class taught by Errol, and it was such a great experience. I’m already looking forward to next month’s class!

Experiencia positiva: Its a fine gym, small but cleanly and taken care of. Welcoming culture for beginners. Only issue is their hours are very limited on most days theyre open, and they are closed many days for holidays and who knows for what else. For the price, i think they should be open much more often.

Experiencia fantástica: I have been a member for years but never really fully harnessed the opportunity. I picked it cuz it's near where I work two things really change the way I think about the JCC now. first is the fact that I signed up for a trainer. shout out to Dillon who kills me in a good way. I really see the progress and the encouragement. second, is the JCC invested in all new equipment. The prequel is much better than what they had before. the action is smooth and I really like it but even more important is that they got peloton bikes and rowing machines. I use the previous concept 2 rowers and they were okay and I would listen to music but I will confess I have become addicted to the peloton classes. the app is free and you can log in at the gym. truly well done.

Experiencia negativa: Editing after remodel: Don't like this gym anymore. Only one bench, less machines, a lot of wasted space in the layout with a too short to use short sled area, lost the straight angle Smith, basically only one machine per body part. Unfortunately it's the only gym in the area and it's still worth the 1-2x a month I go when I don't want to drive to Catalyst. I really enjoy this gym. It's very clean and the staff is friendly. Would be nice if it was a bit larger and they had more equipment & machines.

Experiencia fantástica: I love this place. Other gyms that we have belonged to felt more like a business. This place really does feel like a community. We have been members for 2 months. So far we have enjoyed the heated pool and the gym. Last night we attended a wonderful cooking class that was taught by Errol. I can't wait for next month's class.

Experiencia positiva: My friend introduced me to JCC& it's a great place where one can relax& learn about healthful living... and at YOUR pace. I have bought some of their merch. A jacket&book-niiiiice& helpful;exactly like the employees&the members. I do not work there-it's truly a great place2 consider. I ride my bike down Delaware&love that place.

Experiencia negativa: When I walked into the community gym, I was greeted by the front desk girl in a manner that was both rude and unprofessional. Her attitude was dismissive and unwelcoming, which left a negative impression on my visit. I believe in the importance of maintaining a positive and courteous environment, especially in a community space. I hope this matter can be addressed to ensure a better experience for all members in the future.

Experiencia fantástica: Joining a fitness center can be intimidating if you’re not in the best shape or don’t own the latest brand of activewear. Fortunately, that’s not the case at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Buffalo, which has one of the best gyms in Western New York. By “best,” I mean well-equipped, clean and well-organized, and reassuringly down-to-earth. Established in 1948, the JCC has two locations: the Benderson Family Building, about a 20- minute drive from Buffalo, and the Holland Family Building, a 5-minute drive to downtown. The Holland gym has a combination of cardio machines, including ellipticals, stationary bikes, treadmills, and rowing machines, as well as weight machines and free weights. There are also plenty of classes, though I haven’t taken advantage of one yet. The fitness staff are friendly and there to help and encourage you, not browbeat you. You might also experience a laidback camaraderie with your fellow exercisers—people of various ages and walks of life, sweating side-by-side in unspoken solidarity. Most of us aren’t training for the Olympics—we simply want to reclaim muscle tone, maintain a healthy weight, release stress, and maybe add a few years to our lives. If you want to take care of yourself, I encourage you to try the JCC. And if you’re a parent with young kids, check out the preschool. My daughter went through the preK program, and she thrived. She even learned how to swim in the JCC pool as a toddler.

Experiencia negativa: Was so excited to come tour the facility today and hopefully get a membership for my daughter & I, she loved the facility! However, they don’t offer one adult/one child. My husband owns a business and does not have the time to accompany us during the week. I asked if they could do anything and they said you have to get a family plan.. Which is $80 a month. I can’t suffice paying for an extra person for nothing. I am right around the corner in the preservation district and do a lot for my community. Thought this would have been a perfect fit. So bummed.

Experiencia negativa: I don't think I'm gonna come back here. Thankfully my membership is free with my insurance. Wi-fi is horrible, one of the employees said he would have the IT person contact me. He wasn't taking any notes, nevered asked for my name. I come in to the building. I'm ringing the bell, mind you people are at the dest doing nothing. A person happen to be coming out the door. Sucks! That's ain't cool!

Experiencia negativa: When I wanted to request that somebody consider buying more barbells since there are more benches/racks than there are bars, I couldn't for the life of me get anyone to acknowledge me or call me back. As far as I know, the Summer st location is still understocked, with squat racks going unused because theres not enough bars. When I tried to get in touch with someone about getting the free body scan that was advertised with my membership, I only succeeded in getting the run-around. "Oh, you have to call so-and-so" only for them to tell me "no you have to ask at the desk" If you want to buy personal training, you'll have no trouble getting somebody to acknowledge you. This place feels cold, impersonal, uncaring, and criminally understocked/unmaintained

Experiencia negativa: 1st, I had a tour the guy was nice and answer my questions, however, at the end of the tour the girl at the desk would rather talk to the tour guy than registering me as a potential customer, I aggressively jumped in the conversation to let her know I was interested, I ended up taking the form home, I am now debating if this is a place I want to join, customer service is very bad, and needs training, I can't believe that these people had any training

Experiencia positiva: I have had problems with rude staff and yet others are wonderful. The website needs to be updated, a calendar of when programs are available so I don't have to deal with the same rude woman every time...they emailed me a schedule...completely blurry. I love supporting city businesses, I'm even willing to pay extra to do so but when I continually am made to feel like a burden to the organization/company it makes it easier to go elsewhere.

Experiencia negativa: I have been a member of the JCC for 15 years. I like the place and love the staff. A recent interaction with their administration has left me quite disappointed. The facility was closed during the pandemic, and to budget better, I decided to give up my membership. The membership director reached out to me to see if I would consider putting a hold to my membership instead, to be reinstated as needed. This seemed like a good idea, since I planned to rejoin and I did not ask for a refund for the time remaining. I requested reinstating my membership at the beginning of the year. The membership director is asking for annual dues, and does not want to recognize time remaining on my membership. They are walking back from the very thing they themselves suggested. The amount is not much since there were only a couple of months remaining in my membership when it was put on hold. But this deceptive practice has left a bad taste, and makes me feel like I was taken advantage of. I will be looking elsewhere.

Experiencia fantástica: Big variety of classes offered all times during the day, cost is very reasonable!! I love the yoga classes, instructors very knowledgeable and friendly. I've belonged to different gyms in the areas and JCC is the gym i would recommend.

Experiencia negativa: I attended the water n motion classes for a few weeks... my experience was not good at all ... the Instructor did not greet u ...( not me anyway ) she conducted the class from the deck which I thought was strange I’ve never seen that before... the other staff lifeguards were quite Friendly...Camaraderie didn’t exist their were a few people who welcomed me I say 4 out of 20 which I did Appreciate thank u very much.... so it’s back to the YMCA where we knw how to welcome new comers and have no problem showing it...O by the way when i called to cancel my membership I was not even asked Y ... ‍♀️...

Is there an initial feel, am I required to pay for a month that I do not attend, and is the a contract that Im put into that disables me to cancel my membership without a cancellation fee? Experiencia fantástica: We were visiting from North Carolina where we are JCC members. The staff at Buffalo JCC was extremely friendly and welcoming. The fitness facilities had everything one would wish for and were especially well equipped in weight machine area. Overall great experience!

Experiencia negativa: I was saddened at the indifferent and almost rude treatment I received here. I had been searching for a gym for a few weeks and decided to take advantage of the free guest pass from JCC's website. I walked in, greeted the staff at the desk and pulled out my guest pass and ID. There were three folks at the front desk who were in a conversation, and one person looked up, saw me and then resumed talking with the others as though I did not exist. At least five full minutes passed before he finally acknowledged me, at which time I presented my ID and pass. He set both aside hastily and went back to his tasks, even making an offhand comment, "That ID isn't really a picture of you! LOL!!" I asked calmly where the weight room was, and he scoffed ("How can you not know where it is?") and pointed wordlessly in the general direction of the gym. Once inside the gym, everything was fine. The facilities were in good condition, clean and well-maintained. A variety of different machines and rooms. People were friendly, and one of the managers even came to chat with me about how I was enjoying everything so far. I had a great workout, but will never go back. The first impression of "Ugh. Why are you, like, even here right now?" was too hard to overcome or ignore. Needless to say, I chose to put my money and faith in another gym (Fierce Fitness on Ashland) which I truly enjoy and highly recommend.
