The staff was encouraging, fun, and made her feel both safe and confident as she learned new skills. She came home every day excited to share what she had accomplished, and by the end of the week, her confidence had grown tremendously. I would highly recommend this camp to anyone looking for adventure and growth for their child.

Experiencia fantástica: Amazing stay who are extremely knowledgeable and patient! It was my first time bouldering and I was with my grandkids. They loved every minute of it! It was nice to be able to play a game of chess and checkers while resting.

Experiencia fantástica: This place is fantastic. The gym is larger than expected and they change the routes every week. It also has a nice weights and cardio section. I can’t say enough good things about the staff! I signed both my kids up for classes and they were fantastic. Coach Colton was really good and had my son climbing hard lines in no time. My daughter was super shy and wouldn’t participate much during the first two sessions. Without being asked they brought in a second coach just for her. Big shout out to Couch Carter for his patience and getting my daughter comfort enough to participate.

Experiencia fantástica: My daughters and I are absolute beginners in climbing but we had a blast at Black Hills Basecamp. We were welcomed and given a tour by the friendly staff. The variety of routes and holds offers easy fun or something challenging, whatever you prefer! And they have a small wall for kids. I thought their weights and fitness equipment was really awesome as well. We will be back!

The folks setting were second to none, there was always the perfect climb for you each week. Every week I climbed, the desk crew greeted us with smiles and unmatched hospitality. Rapid City is lucky to have such an amazing gym.

Experiencia fantástica: Such an amazing gym!! I've never been a "regular" at a gym before, but I'm happy to call myself a regular at Basecamp even if it was only for 3 months! Laura and the rest of the crew were so friendly every single visit. I can only imagine how much effort they put into new routes every week, and the variety was insane! The grading system took a little getting used to, but it ultimately pushed me to try harder routes and helped me grow as a climber!

Our daughter has recently started kids club and just within the last couple months we have noticed a major shift in her self confidence and bravery thanks to coach Laura, coach Kolton, and coach Jupiter. We will continue to come back week after week not only to get in a killer workout but to see everyone’s smiling and welcoming faces.

Experiencia fantástica: Black Hills Basecamp has the best summer camp in Rapid City!! We signed our child up for the 1 week program and he had a blast! Every morning, we were greeted by the coaches who were always so kind and smiling to all of the kids. My son himself kept saying he liked how clean it is! Climbing shoes are covered in the cost, which was really great for my first time climber because we weren't really sure where to start with that. I also appreciate that safety while climbing are the very foundations of what they teach during the camp because my son was afraid of heights but because they focused so much on safety, he was able to conquer his fears and climb climb climb!!! Thank you to Coach Laura, Coach Kolton, and all of the other coaches for creating such a memorable summer experience. I know my child will be a lifelong climber from now on!

Experiencia fantástica: Black Hills Basecamp is an amazing place! There is indoor bouldering with professionally set boulders ranging from brand new beginners to elite climbers. In addition to the bouldering walls, there is ample warm up space with pull up bars. squat racks, treadmills, a row machine, and more! I highly recommend this as a place for simple recreation to serious training!

Experiencia fantástica: I took their movement series classes and it was worth it! I had planned on only taking one class but it was such a great learning environment so I took all four classes. I'm so glad I did because I learned to be a more thoughtful climber.and Kolton is such a great teacher! He takes the time to answer questions and explain things in a good way. Also want to say props to Alaska, Andrew and Laura for always saying hi to me when coming in and making it a warm and welcoming place! Come check this place out!!

Experiencia fantástica: Our family has fallen in love with the gym and the community. There are new routes set nearly every week, keeping us interested and coming back. Climbing has become a part of our fitness routine and I have seen all of my kids grow in strength, confidence, and technique. The staff is friendly, personable, attentive, and in my kids' words, "chill." The environment is very encouraging for beginners all the way to advanced. Everyone is respected and welcomed there. It truly is a gem in Rapid City! We have started trying to visit other gyms when we travel and are surprised at how cost efficient Basecamp is. Hands down it's the most affordable gym in the states while still offering a lot of space and options!

Experiencia fantástica: After only a couple visits I decided to become a member and after 4 months of membership I'm still excited for every opportunity I get to go climb. The variety of routes and difficulties keeps me, as well as my 9 and 14 year old nephew and niece, engaged and challenged. The staff is fabulous and all seem to strive to help climbers enjoy the sport and Basecamp's facility. The community of climbers is welcoming, helpful, and thoughtful. The gym, restrooms, showers, etc... are all in excellent condition. If you climb so much that you tire of the available routes before new weekly routes are put up, there's a light-up moon board and tension board with endless route configurations to choose from. So many good things to say. If you're considering checking it out, it's time to get up and go.

I still think that for being Rapid City the day pass rates are a little too pricey for the hours the gym is open to non members but I appreciate the willing to connect and listen.

Experiencia fantástica: My 12 year old daughter has participated in Base Camp's youth climbing club and I have seen her grow in confidence and make tremendous strides in her strength. For example, when she first started she could hardly top out the easiest routes, but this morning I watched with thankfulness as she easily topped out all the "easy" routes and started challenging herself on the "mediums." Props go to Laura and her team for running a great youth program!

Experiencia fantástica: BHBC is a great place to climb. New routes are set frequently with difficulties for all levels of climbers. The community among climbers is very strong and new people make friends easily with other climbers and with the staff.

Experiencia negativa: Overall it's a good concept and a good place to workout. However, it is very small and easy to be in one another's personal space. The atmosphere is also very awkward. A very elitist attitude amongst the attendees and members. A lot of out of staters/west coasters. I have spoken to 5 or 6 other members and they agree that the overall membership is unfriendly.

Experiencia fantástica: Basecamp is a great place to not only hang out on their greatly set boulders but to train as well. The set boulders can be challenging. There's both a tension, moon board, and a narrow spray wall. 3 sizes of campus rungs, 1, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, ..., to 10. Campus pinch blocks, slopers, and peg board. An assortment of hangboards. Treadwall. Barbell set. Dumbell set. Power-rack. Straight pull-up bars. Jumpropes. Foam rollers. Medicine balls. I could go on. A great place to train.

Experiencia fantástica: Great place to boulder, whether for fun or training. New problems are set every couple weeks so you don't have to climb the same stuff over and over. They have a MoonBoard, Tension Board, campus board, hangboards, treadwall, weight equipment, and pretty much everything you need to train hard. Being a member gives you 24/7 access and the staff is awesome! Really fun place to climb with a good community; I can't really recommend it enough.

With a wide variety of routes and styles each wall ranges from slab to 60 degrees overhanging. Each route is monochromatic so very easy to follow! The holds are all hand picked to help you improve in all styles of climbing. Basecamp also has a weight room, hang boards, and a tread wall! Also love how members have 24 hour access to the facility! Doesn’t matter if you’re training for bouldering, sport climbing, trad, etc. Basecamp has you covered with long winding routes and short burley boulders.
