Experiencia negativa: Love how when you take 3 summer classes that cost thousands of dollars, you don’t get free access to the gym....makes so much sense :) No thank you on purchasing a summer pass when I’m already ridiculously overpaying for both summer sessions. And for what? I have no idea.

Experiencia fantástica: McComas was the site for a great Health and Wellness fair. The setup was well done and a ton of folks showed up. The Hokie Shop appreciates all your hard work!

Experiencia positiva: I've gone to mcomas and lived right next to it for years. It is a large facility with new equipment for the most part. The entrance is a little confusing because you have to walk through a massive hallway before you even scan your card. If your a vt student, which you probably are, make sure you go onto the star rez website and sign up for gym access. It gets VERY crowded during peak hours, 430-8, especially during the first weeks of each semester. So I usually try to avoid the crowd and go earlier or later. There is a ton of stuff to do there like spinclass or basketball. There is almost always someone looking for players for a pickup basketball game which is fun. Unfortunately it can get really crowded, to the point where it is hard to even find an open machine without waiting in line after two people. Vt needs to make war gym better so the crown is more evenly distributed. It does okay when compared to other college gyms. Also great place to meet friends.

Experiencia positiva: Ridiculously busy (not enough benches/machines for everyone crammed into the space) at almost every single time during the day except the hour after they open. I expect it will only get worse with War closing for renovations. Unfortunately waking up at 5am when I take night classes is too much of a stretch so I’ll be looking for off-campus workout options. The facility itself is quite nice but, as with most things on campus this year, can’t handle the sheer number of students.
