Experiencia fantástica: Water aerobics class is very nice and friendly instructors and classmates. The water is warm and refreshing. I enjoy the workout because it builds strength and gives ne a good start to my day. It also gives me energy to get through these winter days.

Experiencia fantástica: The childcare center here is unmatched. Ms Lauren, Ms. Chelsea, Ms. Marley, and Mr John take amazing care of the kids and you can tell they love it! They remember all my kids names and things they like etc. They make such effort to give mom's a break to exercise! The facility is a bit of a maze and not super modern and I wish there were windows bc there's none in most of the workout spaces. BUT I'd go here every time purely for the outstanding childcare.

As soon as you enter the front door, you're greeted with a smile and a hello.This Y has innovative kids' programming like cooking to teach invaluable life skills. They provide leadership and teamwork for children and young adults through a multitude of events and classes, not merely those focused on sports. I appreciate the wider range of offerings to engage children and adults.Facilities always clean and welcoming. The women's changing room could use some updating and more windows or sun lights would be welcome, though. The pool is great, the most brightly lit spot in the lower floor.

Experiencia negativa: Some of the lockers in the women's changing rooms were completely rusted inside. The showers don't have any curtains for privacy. Open swim was all lap lanes. Usually places have a couple lap lanes with a large are for "open swim". There also wasn't an indoor track like other locations. This location needs an update, it's kind of gross. Lifeguard was friendly..that's the only reason I gave one star.

Experiencia fantástica: During lockdown last year, the Y switched out their old exercise equipment for all new equipment. The machines are all Qcode accessible. Not crowded earlier in morn which is when I like to go. Wear a mask always and keep my distance from others. Hours are also good.

Experiencia fantástica: I really enjoy this location and the programs, staff, and facilities. I signed up for a pass in January. When I reviewed the policy there was mention of being able to bring guest, but no mention of fees associated with it. A major plus in my consideration to join. However, when I brought a guest to use the facilities with me I was asked to pay a fifteen dollar fee to allow my guest to join me. This will be the reason why I will cancel my membership after one month of use. I don’t like hidden fees and the fact that my guest have to pay when there is no mention of this fee on the website doesn’t sit well with me. Great ymca, however I don’t like being misled about my membership package. I will be cancelling as soon as the month ends.

Experiencia negativa: Their pool schedule is always a mess and not up to date. Recommend calling before you go swim to make sure the lap swim pool hours they posted are correct. I’ve attempted to swim here 4 times. 4/4 times the lap swim times have been different than what was posted on their website/ posted schedules. Very frustrating.

Experiencia fantástica: Everyone at the Birmingham Family YMCA is super nice and helpful. They know me by name and make an effort to say "hi" anytime I'm in. The classes that I go to, Barre with Danielle and Cycle with Teri are very well taught. Clean facility. Well maintained machines and weights. The weight room gets a little crowded sometimes, but there's always a treadmill free.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been a member of the Boll YMCA for years but recently left downtown Detroit. The Birmingham YMCA has been a welcome substitute. Although not as updated, the space is well maintained and clean! Equipment is readily available when I visit in the mornings.

It is great to workout again and I felt safe with social distancing equipment, everyone wearing a mask and plenty of sanitize spray bottles around. The Birmingham Family Y always was and will be my first choice to stay fit and healthy. Come see for yourself.

I like having the ability to reserve a swim lane, though it would be great if this could be done online rather than over the phone. I appreciate the masking, social distancing, and cleaning. I've only been a member for a few months, but I've really enjoyed it..

My children and I are always greeted by smiling faces, and the facilities are always kept tidy and well-maintained. When we have questions, they are answered thoroughly, and we are always encouraged to try out new classes and programs. We love our time here and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a stress-free place to move your body and be part of a great community!

Experiencia negativa: I joined over a year ago. The locker rooms were outdated at the time and overall the place seemed a bit gloomy. I did receive a message they were updating the locker rooms. The open swim hours were not work or family friendly. I attempted to cancel my membership but they did not allow cancellations over the phone. There is not a way to cancel electronically either, terrible! Parking is HORRIBLE which is the main reason I have not been able to cancel since I am often traveling with an infant.

Experiencia negativa: Not too bad, except for the pool. Consider there is no pool as you never know when you can swim. They only have a few hours in the week when it is really opened and it is in the middle of the morning on weekdays, how convenient!! Plus they sometimes change the schedule without notice. Very very bad Edit: pool schedule is still only for children or retired people, not people working during the day. All in all the $110 family membership is way overpriced for the service. Them being the only ones to have regular power shutdowns in the area regularly is also questionable. Will cancel membership.

Experiencia fantástica: I am currently a stay at home mom and love this place. All the staff members are super friendly especially those in the child care center. I have a association membership and can go to a few different locations but choose to go to Birmingham (even though Farmington is closer to me.) I highly recommend this place. I am able to workout while my son gets to socialize with others his age. Can't stress enough how great the staff is!

Experiencia positiva: I’ve been to this gym since I was a little kid. The staff are nice some of the employees and members basically know us, but there are improvements need to be made. For instance the adult locker room which you have to be 18 and up the same with the work out room (the lockers not all of them are rusted on the bottom, the carpet has a smell when it’s wet, when they put in the new carpet it did not last that long. The sauna needs an update for instance “completely fix the door so you don’t have to slam the door to close it”, the floor of the sauna is dirty pieces are missing. Most of the shower heads don’t work properly and some of the hooks are rusty. They do need to change the furniture in the woman’s locker room they are dirty and the TV is useless the picture is bad and there are no decent channels to watch when working out. A long time ago there were more choices of channels to watch. Now for the unnecessary changes to the work out room, like changing the weights and machines that were perfectly fine, for instance they got rid of 4 weights that I always used every time I came to the Y that was oftenly used. It’s also uncomfortable to change in the ladies locker room when there are underage kids that are supposed to use the kids locker room (excluding kids that can’t be left alone).

Experiencia positiva: Facility is older and needs updating and the layout is very strange. That being said, it has everything you need (treadmills, free weights, open gym time, lots of classes, pool, locker room). The staff is fantastic- very little turn over and I feel like we know most of them on a first name basis and vice versa. We love the child watch staff. As a women, I do not feel intimidated using the free weights. Judo instructors are world class (there are people that dive from Canada to train here). Yes, it is older but that probably keeps it less busy too.

Experiencia positiva: This YMCA has a friendly staff and a fair number of machines in the Wellness Center. The locker room is dated and the lockers are rusty. There is plenty of room to renovate as there is an unused space with a sofa and tv where no one ever sits. Locker rooms are downstairs and workout rooms are upstairs which is a little inconvenient.

Experiencia negativa: I had a very poor experience with them. Even we paid the fee for my daughter, who was on their Girls On the Run program. They kept calling us that we haven't paid the fee. We had to send them the copy of the paid check image twice. I wonder why they don't check with their own bank to verify who paid or not. It seems to me, their billing system is a mess, and very unprofessional. We don't want to deal with them again.
