Experiencia fantástica: Great gym for all ages or levels of experience. Busy times are like most gyms. Gym etiquette is practiced by most. I’ve been able to workout without noting any issues from crowd or equipment. Price seems fair for what they offer, equipment/gym upkeep, and their great staff.

Experiencia positiva: I love the pool and sauna but the only problem is that everyone in the sauna room is naked and not covering themselves with towels

Experiencia fantástica: I have been a HealthSPORT member for 6 years. The tldr; Great gym. Excellent weight room, plenty of cardio options. Wonderful classes for all types of members from young to old. Energetic personal trainers, friendly staff and accommodating to member requests. There is a real sense of community between the members and management. They listen to their membership, trying to modernize the equipment and making the gym accessible to more people. Doug and Joe are both easily accessible to questions and concerns. As managers of the gym; they're both tremendously selfless with their work, you can see their integrity towards improving the gym and cultivating a positive environment for the staff and members. My nephew really enjoyed and learned alot through the swim program. Sita has done an amazing job bringing in talented swim instructors. Lastly their recent 12 Days of The Holidays was a nice way of bringing in friends and family in for free, and that 50% off start up was a great touch for the new year.

Experiencia negativa: Very greedy gym. I know they are not charity but they should put some effort on helping people who are low income or don't have any jobs. Just saying.

Experiencia fantástica: A clean, welcoming environment. I love the pool and the hot tub and the many classes that come with the membership, and I’m even starting to feel healthier after going on the treadmill almost every day, thank you healthsport :)

Experiencia positiva: The facility is great with all the equipment needed for a great workout. I stopped in here while traveling and was easily able to grab a day pass for the gym. The pass is $25 which is quite steep, but it was hassle-free and the desk was staffed so I didn’t have to worry about calling or asking someone with a key tag for entry.

Experiencia positiva: It's a great gym complex for exercise of various types including classes and pool. There's a good massage therapist too.

Experiencia positiva: I nice place to work out without feeling self conscious. There are many different types of classes you can choose from. I didn't give it 5 stars because it could be cleaner overall.

Experiencia positiva: I really like this gym but for $70 a month I wish they were open later. Also weekends they are open 9 am to 5pm, kinda the time most of us are at work.

Experiencia negativa: This is a place that will listen to the squeaky wheel. So if you want to have a bunch of old Karen's dictate how a gym should be run sign up here. Your clientele will die soon good luck after that.

Experiencia negativa: $25 to drop in and use the facility is a ridiculously high day use fee. This is designed to force people to sign up and pay for a monthly membership/startup fee/yearly maintenance fee. This practice excludes members of the community who want to prioritize their fitness but cannot because they can't afford it, their schedule doesn't allow for regular attendance to justify the expense, etc.

Experiencia fantástica: I don’t understand how anyone could leave a 1-star review on this place. Extremely well equipped gym, huge free weights area, pool and sauna, open lockers all the time AND the staff is very friendly and willing to work with you. It’s not dirty, it’s not a homeless encampment, and it’s very reasonable at $53/mo. 9am weekend opening isn’t great but it’s Arcata, you get what you get.

Experiencia fantástica: I love the low price relaxed vibe, not the most boujie, but with basic classes included it's a great deal. After a car accident my membership there with access to yoga, pilates, and the hot tub really helped me heal faster

Even if I gave them the benefit of the doubt since they have all of 2 employees, I’ve watched the staff walk past maskless people MULTIPLE times and say nothing. I’ve complained. No change. I see people in mesh see through masks. Y’all let them in like that for real??? Beyond me how management lets their employees just ignore county health guidelines in the way they do. It’s not okay. If someone isn’t wearing their mask right, kick them out. If someone was stationed in the weight room making sure everybody kept their masks on I would feel much more comfortable, but I’m actually thinking about cancelling my membership because of the Covid exposure. It’s also dirty as hellll! This one I do attribute to their incredible lack of staffing. The locker rooms are NOT clean. Seriously, I’m scared in there…they need to hire like 10 more people and then this might be a a pretty good gym. It seriously feels like they hire the extreme bare minimum amount of people, and then tell those people that they don’t really have to do their jobs. But as of now I started going to the eureka location. It’s a million times better. Always empty too. The staff isn’t great about enforcing masks there either but it’s better. The locker rooms are a lot nicer and I don’t have to wipe down the surfaces myself. Overall, if you are an immune compromised person I wouldn’t recommend this place. Even if you’re just a person with basic hygiene and health standards. Avoid this branch…

Experiencia fantástica: Gym and facilities are amazing! However, the hours open are too short. Closing 8pm is really early.

Experiencia fantástica: You definitely have to extend the working hours. Closing at 8pm is not fare at all, is 745 and gym is still super bussy. Other than that, amazing gym facility loaded with lots of machines, sauna, steam room and amazing staff.

Experiencia positiva: The Arcata location of HealthSPORT impressed me by their awareness and thorough check-in process regarding COVID procedures. I'm extremely pleased with the cleanliness in general and the attention to detail - specifically in the locker room areas. It made me feel secure that I would be safe. To be honest - I came in to cancel my membership due to my safety concerns, however, the staff members there assured me and made me feel comfortable enough to come back and give it a try. And I'm so happy I did. Experiencia negativa: My whole household [most of which are unemployed due to the pandemic, but still obligated to pay rent] is still being charged a "freeze fee" [for about six months] while the gym has been closed, despite my roommate [the main account holder] emailing and calling HealthSport multiple times, for months, asking to cancel our memberships. At this point it's valid to say they've stolen hundreds of dollars from us. Presumably they're also doing this to others. Still trying to get our money back. And now they're reopening [now that cases in the county have *just* begun spiking beyond any previous levels]. It's absolutely insane.

Experiencia negativa: I was paying for a membership here for about 3 months. I honestly loved it until i saw a woman "riding the jet" in the hot tub at arcata healthsport hot tub. I told staff...they informed me it was a known problem. Membership cancelled. Gross.

Experiencia positiva: The pool was comfortably warm enough for childran. We had a good time. They do NOT have any lifeguards. Sad.

Experiencia positiva: Dropped in while visiting from out of town. Fair price, large, plenty of cardio equipment including bikes, treadmills, and rowers. The weight room had high traffic, so you have to be patient. Rowers are appreciated. The pool room is very nice. The hot tub is very large and accommodating.

Experiencia negativa: Worst customer service got double charged for a massage because I didn’t give them a 24 hour notice which I understand but explained to them it was an emergency situation why I couldnt make it and still didn’t give me the full refund. I get you lost money by me not showing up but my personal opinion is losing Customers from word of mouth is going to be worse than the little bit of money you could of just refunded. Wouldn’t recommend anyone. Switched to calcourts and they are awesome so far!!

Experiencia negativa: I called to potentially sign up for a membership and spoke to two people in sales. Their attitude made it clear that they are only interested in wealthy clientele and don't want riff raff who can't afford personal training or massages. I was even told that "maybe this isn't the right club for you" after I told them that I was trying to find a way to afford a gym on a part-time salary. In a way I am glad that they were so condescending. They made it clear what they stand for and in researching alternatives I found a non-profit organization who cares about the health of the entire community -- no matter what their income. The Arcata Community Pool gives discounts for people on Medi-Cal and CalFresh and they have fitness equipment as well as a sauna and hot tub. I will happily give my money to an organization that doesn't treat me like a second-class citizen.

Experiencia fantástica: Great staff, attentive and kind. Great equipment. There are obviously times that are favored and crowded, as with any other gym. I use the weights, cardiovascular machines, stretch room, and pool. I love it. It feels like a family gym and I like that. Could use a bit more attentiveness with locker room clean up, but that is my only reaervation.

Experiencia positiva: Healthsport has all the weight equipment you would need as well as cardio. It can be expensive to join however if you join during the holidays, the fee is half off. Healthsport is the only gym around that has a good sauna and steam room. It can get busy at certain times.

Experiencia positiva: Even if a guy only used it for showers, it is still cheaper than non-gym alternatives. The crew seems righteous. The amenities are fine. I would like to see them change the pool system over to salt water... And lower the monthly rate by ten dollars.

Experiencia positiva: Great gym with wide variety of group classes, plenty of cardio machines and knowledgeable staff. I really don't enjoy mothers bringing their school age sons into the women's locker room. The gym allows boys up to age 5, but I came out of the shower to a naked 5th grader this week. I get that mom's don't want their boys alone in the men's locker room, but there's a rinse-off shower and unisex bathroom by the pool. Use it! Also, the boys 5 & under are too often running around rough housing. Truly unacceptable--keep your kids with you, or don't bring them into the locker room.

Experiencia fantástica: This is one of the most community oriented gyms that I have ever worked out in. If you are ever looking to get in better shape or lose some weight this is the place, go sign your self up as soon as you can would recommend.
