Experiencia negativa: Editing my review from 8 months ago. Looks like the incompetent, lazy manager Greg is still there, getting this location horrid reviews and making people walk out! When is he going to be removed?!? Came here to complain about the horrific management and rude staff only to find out this is a common thing here. GREG is horrific and outright rude.

Experiencia negativa: @gym owner..Gave two star so this review gets read. Not gonna complain for myself whimsically when there is a reality. I understand gyms get packed especially when it has new equipment not just new but looks like the owner read some complaints of zip and delivered.. I remember complaining to zip when canceling memberships a couple times because I needed bigger dumbbells, and there was one squat rack this gym addressed all those issues maybe only thing with given amounted space would be add another red light if possible but it’s solid gym competitive pricing your gonna continue to get a crowd. With that said I use to work a job standing 8 or with it 12 hours. This can cause knee problems from fatiguing the supporting muscles. Take it for what it’s worth I know you want tentative employees delivering customer service and as a customer i do too. Maybe compromise a resolution and get a stool that’s tall enough so they can see over welcome desk. Then they can still be active and still be engaging with the customers. Just some constructive criticism. Other than that, thanks for buying out zip and good job on the revamping.

Experiencia positiva: The front desk staff is kind & the gym itself is fine, it has all the equipment you could need, but it is certainly not equipped for the volume of people that come in between 4:30-7pm. They hold classes in the studio & on the turf at the same time & the trainers typically don’t allow you on the turf or around the bars either. So basically no one can warm up anywhere until after maybe 6:30pm. Super inconvenient for all other paying members…

Experiencia positiva: This was and could be a great gym. Especially for the cost. One of the things I used to love is that the equipment was clean and working. Kind of a necessity. Now? A year later? Clearly not much cleaning of the machines happens and the constant broken machines for weeks on end is ridiculous. I really liked this place and most of my friends come here. But most of us are looking to switch because of the dirty machines and lack of working cardio. With the new years people coming soon, the 5 treadmills that anre anlways down are a necessity. I hope they get it together.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been coming to this gym for a few weeks now, I’ve so far had no issues with this location and I suggest people honestly take advantage of the fact that they are now 24 hours for decent prices and amenities! I also love the fact that there is always someone at the front desk to help with anything and they always keep the gym clean (whenever I’m there at least). Thanks to this location, this journey has made progress like crazy!

Experiencia negativa: I originally liked this place. Nice people, appeared great communication. I liked the machines and a few of the trainers. But, I originally signed what I had been told was a 1 month training contract. I was charged the 2nd month, told I signed a 3 month contract.( I was never emailed the contract!) Okay, 3 months it is!! Reluctantly I accepted it. Then I was charged month 4!! Talked to Greg the manager, said it would be refunded. It was, , after he actually charged it again so he could reverse it!! So never really refunded. The charge is still there! Month 5 charged again!!! I have called ( no answer) , talked to MANY, MANY people and told it was being handled. Ive sent emails, never answered. I personally do not have the money to just throw around!! Sent another message this morning!! We'll see what happens!!

Experiencia positiva: Not sure why so many people have been having bad experiences here. It is a great gym. I have the peak results membership and I go to get healthy and lose weight. I keep my headphones on and Im not really there to talk to people buthere are other members who will smile at you, or hold the door open for you. And it is a pretty diverse gym, and it's a no judgement zone. I will say it does tend to be understaffed, which would be why it seems less personable. They have weird sign up policy for classes which make it difficult to get into some of them. There are people who take a long time on equipment, but you just have to hover or switch up your routine and come back to it. The hydromassage is pretty nice and the red light therapy is amazing but the massage chair is not very comfortable. I haven't had issues bringing a guest before, but that doesn't discredit what others have gone through.

Experiencia positiva: Air quality is good. Clean. Lots of machines weights and accessories. Getting better at maintaining them. Basic amenities in locker room. Very friendly staff and clientele. Amazing prices and had helped me lose 60 lbs and keep it off.

From the equipment and machines to the staff and training team crunch is definitely the best. Experiencia negativa: Fix the men’s sauna. I’m tired of walking up to the front desk and asking you guys to turn it on. Ridiculous. Not to mention I’ve received attitude from the staff multiple times because they thought I was messing with the sauna when I ask them to turn it back on. One of them got really agitated when I asked him to turn it on. It was the Hispanic guy with black short hair and gold chains. If the sauna turning off repeatedly is an issue then have your staff repeatedly check on it to be sure it’s functioning properly. I shouldn’t have to ask you guys EVERY SINGLE TIME I go to the gym, to turn on the sauna. Jeez! Just be present and keep the sauna on! It’s actually not even that hard. I’ve seen you turn it on before. Takes less than a minute. Put up rules outside the sauna so people know not mess with any controls or add water to the sauna. This is just bad business practice. Step it up fr.

Experiencia fantástica: Clean gym, lots of equipment. Cardio, machines, cables, and freeweights. During peak hours it does get a little crammed and busy, but most of the time I can get in my workout with minimal delays. I also work out for around 2 hours at a time. Very good gym

Experiencia fantástica: Been going to this gym for over 3 months, at typically the busier parts of the day, and rarely do I have to wait for equipment. Even if busy, its not been overcrowded.
Experiencia fantástica: I went to this gym as a guest. I totally loved it! It had everything that you would need, including treadmills, other cardio machines, free weights, weight machines, and this really cool 30 minute circuit that had 13 different machines that targeted different muscle groups. It did not smell AT ALL like an icky gym in there, and it had a sauna in the very clean locker room. The members of the gym all were super good about wiping the machines down after use. The employees were friendly and helpful. If I lived around here, I would definitely join this gym! It's recently been renovated and would totally be worth the money!

Experiencia negativa: I was charged the annual gym fee twice and was told that I would have 2 free months due to the mistake to make up for it. I was given a fist bump which was weird in itself. The next month I still got charged and when I went in to see why this happened I was met with two managers, one who didn't have a clue what to do in this situation and the original manager that told me he would correct the issue. I was asked why I wasn't going to the gym for the last few weeks during this interaction. Not sure why that matters at all to them. I felt as though that was extremely unprofessional of him to ask. Overall it was a horrible experience being a member there. Bad customer service, lack of cleanliness and I actually signed up with Crunch Fitness due to the fact that it's a new, clean gym so this was extremely disappointing. And by the looks of it, it seems like there are others who also had the same bad experience as well.

Experiencia negativa: On Thursday, August 15, 2024, I contacted the Crunch Fitness location in Round Lake Beach due to being charged $49.99 annual fee. I just paid the annual fee on May 9th, so paying the annual fee again did not make sense. I spoke to a “manager”, and he said that he’d see if the charges could be reversed since I should not have been charged the annual fee again. Once he realized he could not reverse the charge, he stated that he would not charge my account the following months so that I could break even. He then stated that the next time I came into the gym to ask for him so he could explain the details. I asked him his name and he said it was Kevin. I was okay with that plan. About an hour later I went to the gym and asked for Kevin, so he could explain the details. He said, “Oh you’re good”. I told him, “You couldn’t tell me that over the phone? Why did I have to come in for you to tell me I was good?” (I also asked him that when we spoke on the phone). Then he said, “I told you; you didn’t have to come in today…we could have talked about this the next time you came in”. This annoyed me since I left work to ensure this issue was ironed out as no one wants to be overcharged! Again, I stated that this could have been discussed over the phone. Kevin then stated, “Look, do you want to argue about this or not?!”. I said, “We can absolutely argue about this! This is your error. I was overcharged”. He stated that this was not his error…I said it was the company’s error. To avoid causing a scene, I told him to learn customer service skills and walked out (without proof that this was taken care of). This guy clearly does not know what he is doing and lacks professionalism. You do not argue with a customer…you work together to find a solution. The situation was not that deep, but I will not tolerate disrespect from anyone. Also, I have no written proof that this was taken care of. Due to poor professionalism and playing with my money, I’m done at this gym…and they WILL reverse the annual fee or make the situation right. ***Update: This place is a joke. The staff turnover is ridiculous. Also, look at all the positive feedback they are receiving directly AFTER the “owner” replied to the previous bad feedback (Aug 15th, 2024 onwards). The timing of these comments is off and being manipulated. 8 positive comments in less than an hour after I spoke with the manager/owner in person and discuss their customer service. Cut it out!!! Glad I closed out my account.***

Experiencia negativa: One of the stairmasters was not tagged out as it should have been and when I attempted to start my work out the step gave out and I had to grab onto the rails and jump onto the side of the machine so I wouldn’t fall to the ground and hurt myself.

Experiencia positiva: I almost gave up on this place during the reno, but decided to renew for a year. I go almost every day in the summer and about 2 weeks ago I saw an hvac truck outside. Well, it’s still not fixed. The employees have a nice fan behind their desk, but sorry patrons! Nothing for you. They should warn patrons that the ac is out, especially for people with heart, heat and respiratory issues. The thermostat read 80 and with the humidity inside, it brutal. I feel like this is somewhat of a health concern.

Experiencia positiva: I have had this membership since January. I haven’t gone in to utilize my membership but went in today to use the treadmills as the heat outside is just too hot. I thought maybe going to the gym would be safer as I thought they would have working A/C but I was wrong! I felt like I was going to pass out. My husband has a heart condition and I just didn’t feel comfortable staying there without temperature control. I read a review from D Burns and apparently the a/c is not working. I agree with him and that the gym should at the very least let the members know about there not being working a/c instead of letting them potentially pass out! I won’t be going back until the a/c is repaired and if it does not get repaired, I will cancel my membership!

Experiencia negativa: I am a ex member of LA, I decided to change gyms, I went to Aira fitness and I didn't stay bc at the time of the tour I got horrible anxiety from seeing all the dirty machines, dust everywhere, etc. So I decided to come to crunch, everything looked very good the first week, new machines,place very clean,etc. I've been here for 4 months and the gym is getting so dirty this place is looking horrible day with day, all the treadmill are so dusty it really makes me anxious to see that they don't clean the machines, the mirrors are all dirty, the bathrooms are disgusting, the windows are all dirty, I never see anyone cleaning, no matter what time I come everything is always disgusting. Sinks and toilets never seem to be clean either. There are plenty of staff that they should be able to get these things done before closing or at the very least before opening. Sad to let a brand new facility look like this. I am really thinking to go back to LA at least they always try to keep the facility clean. Crunch is a good place but just seeing how dirty it is every single day get my anxiety so bad.

Not sure how the tampon disposal box in the bathroom stall is full before noon or that that are dust bunnies and hair all over the floor and tiles are filthy. Sinks and toilets never seem to be clean either. There is plenty of staff that they should be able to get these things done before closing or at the very least before opening. Sad to let a brand new facility look like this.as well as the sauna being out of service for days at a time on a regular basis
Experiencia negativa: Did the free trial and I’m pretty sure that’s where I’m gonna leave it. Went up to the check in and saw numerous people just walk right in. I know there’s different memberships to use the different services offered at these gyms, but all of them seemed like free access. If you pay for perks here… you’re doing yourself a disservice. Men’s locker room was a complete mess. Dirty clothes everywhere and what I assume was urine on the walls. Going after work hours gets you your normal crowded gym, not a lot of machines or racks open. But it definitely doesn’t help when people hog machines for a place to sit for dumbbell exercises. Great equipment, got a decent pump in, but too many red flags for me.
Thank you for your review. Our policy is that everyone checks in. In order to use the "Perks", check in is required. Unfortunately, a few patrons may not possess good gym etiquette, but we do have regular checks of the gym, including locker rooms. We do not leave them dirty. This is a brand new gym, brand new equipment, and we do our best to keep it clean. I will make sure to review your feedback with the staff. Wish you the best.

Experiencia negativa: Place is “new” which means expectations are high, as soon as you start your work out those expectations fall down to the ground. Weights are all over the place, plates aren’t organized nor put away after workouts. No floor personnel to help out, front desk detail is always away from their post.

Experiencia negativa: I signed up at this gym in December 2023. There was a remodeling going on but Anthony, I assume the manager, assured me that it would be over in a couple of weeks and I believed him. It is April now and the remodeling keeps going on. I went to the gym a few times and it was a bad experience, sawdust in the air, equipment out of order, the ones that worked made squeaky noises and were taped with duct tape, weird smell from paint and etc. Overall, it is not the most enjoyable workout one can have. So, naturally I decided to end my membership and find another gym. And surprise! They would charge me for another month of membership and the annual fee is not refundable, although I haven’t been there for a full year! Hello? Annual? A year! Not refunding a prorated annual fee refund and you’re charging me another month! My app says that I have been to the gym 0.08 times per week, on average. It is a broad daylight robbery how these people operate! I hope you made enough out of me for a new treadmill at least so the people who stay don’t have to suffer!

Experiencia negativa: I signed up and I canceled my membership after a couple of months. I did not like going anymore. But around the time that I went a lot of renovations going on. Not a lot of treadmills and the elliptical is like dangerous I thought I was going to be tipped over so wobbly. I don’t know I just didn’t like it. Most of the equipments need an upgrade. It is hard to cancel your membership if you are not there for a year and they charge more when you cancel.

Experiencia fantástica: Was in from out of Town called over to Crunch asking what a day pass cost and the lady told me they were under remodeling that if i could excuse the construction to come on over and enjoy the new equipment thats been setup already at no cost. Construction was happening all around but I can tell you this from what i saw this Crunch fitness location is going to be Awesome when they get it all finished. I didnt take any photos because it would be unfair to Crunch and the employees to show a building that is heavily under remodeling. Next time im in town im gonna stop by to see how great it all turned out. Congrats on your new location Crunch i wish you the greatest of luck. Cheers!

Experiencia positiva: Nice place, Anthony behind the desk is especially thoughtful and helpful. This is not an all things to all people. It specializes in machine work ( no track or pool ) but plenty of machines. A great place for serious work outs. New owners are promising new and additional equipment and hopefully will keep the present employees! Crunch is still in the process of redoing the gym which has resulted in a wait for some machines. And I suppose was inevitable they have announced an as yet specified price increase and some of the previous employees are no longer there replaced by somewhat less interested folks. I am starting to find a different gym.
Experiencia fantástica: I just got a membership back in July. Have been going 3 days a week since. I actually really like this gym. Yes, there is equipment that definitely needs to be replaced. I’ve had many issues on the treadmills. I like to do a speed walk on an incline and some of them, the incline doesn’t work. So I have to search for a treadmill that does work. Besides that, my only other complaints are people hogging up machines by sitting on their phones instead of working out. This is a huge problem at this gym. And I notice that a lot of people don’t wipe down the equipment when they are done. Gross! This gym has very convenient locations that have sanitary wipes for this reason. I always bring two with me. I wipe down the equipment before and after use. I’m hoping that staff will really enforce the cell phone/ and cleanliness rule. The overall equipment definitely needs updating but I know they are renovating so I’m being very patient with that. Staff is incredibly friendly! Never had a bad experience with the staff at all! Megan the instructor for the classes is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! She is so kind and looks out for everyone’s best interests! I’m a beginner with the yoga and Pilates, so I’m not at all experienced with that stuff. She’s very good at encouraging to push your limits but doesn’t want you to push beyond your means and I really like that! And I couldn’t ask for a better membership price! This gym will be AWESOME when it’s all done with the renovations! I’m excited!!

Experiencia negativa: It is another workout place with a lot of consistently bad reviews. For every Bad review, there are ten people who feel the same way but don’t bother to write anything. I am a reviewer with over 3million views and I read lots of reviews by others before I buy.
Experiencia positiva: Gym is great. There is no doubt. But there is few things need to consider by the management. 1- Have anyone noticed; one side of the power rack all in one has been out of ordered for last 3 weeks and still hasn’t fixed. 2- could have expand the free weights section little bit more. ( may be switch to core and abs section area, which is slightly bigger that free weight area I believe)
Experiencia positiva: Staff is very friendly and I was excited to see what they had done with Zip Fitness because I needed a gym and this is very close. I also used to be a member of Crunch when I lived in Massachusetts and it was my favorite gym. I looked at the website and it was not super clear where they were in the remodel process but I looked at the virtual tour and it looked promising. Besides the banner above the business everything is the same. I was a little disappointed because I love the energy and decor the typical Crunch gyms have and I was hoping to sign up today. Crunch gyms are usually fun, unique and lively. This gym currently still has all its the old equipment and decor. It is also very dark and drab inside. I did not notice any signs communicating when remodeling would begin but I wish I would have asked the staff. If you need something that is inexpensive and convenient then this may be right for you. I look forward to having another visit once the remodel is complete.
Experiencia positiva: This is a local gym that Crunch Fitness bought. Currently, equipment needs to be upgraded badly as it is worn and in some cases unsafe (wobbly decline bench, cracked bench padding, worn cables and handles, worn treadmills, and one Smith machine that freezes up). There are not as many squat racks as new crunches, but they do have 3 if you include smith presses. Facility floors could be cleaner in stretching area, but all the floors are worn though. Has an old school no frills gym vibe if you like that. The front desk was friendly, but my Crunch app would not scan in. They recognized the error and let me exercise. The bathrooms were reasonably clean and sufficient space, but none of the dryers in the women's worked. I was excited to see this area get a Crunch gym and hope that management upgrades the facility to meet Crunch standards.

Experiencia fantástica: I LOVE LOVE LOVE Zip Fitness in Round Lake Beach. I am a gold member, and can't say enough good things about it. I love the facility, and the staff is AMAZING. I cannot thank everyone enough for their motivation and support. I go 7 days a week, and I look forward to it daily. Thank you Zip for being so awesome :)
