Always plenty of machines and weights to work on for what I like to do and finally finish it off with a nice trip to the dry sauna to end the workout. Experiencia negativa: Employees need to take their job seriously and honor the hours they should be there to open the doors. Obvious scam to force you to pay $20 a month extra. They lock the doors whenever they feel like it.

Experiencia negativa: Some equipment could be updated, and some people could use a reminder of the no bags on the floor policy. Portal is easy to switch payment methods. Folks at the front desk on the weekends may want to stay off their phones when people are coming in, too. A couple of weekends, staff at the front desk who open the club show up late, preventing some gym members from being able to enter and workout. A couple of Sundays, staff haven’t shown up to unlock the door for those without 24-hour access (updated 4/28/24).

Experiencia fantástica: Me and my wife have not worked out since 2021. You know how it goes. We came in on 3/16 to finally cancel our membership. Zaine, met us as the door and asked us questions. He was so kind and talked about his life and built a connection with us. Gave us a few options and my wife and I decided to stay for another month to try it. We have been in twice already and ran into Zaine, he remembered us and came over and said hi and talked to us about our workouts and was so kind. 10/10 for that young man. Any normal employee would have just cancelled our membership and left it at that. But thanks to him we are staying and working out again. Huge kudos to Zaine. Give that man a raise.

Experiencia fantástica: Nicki is a FANTASTIC masseuse, she really listens to your issues and recommends the best course of action for what issues you are having. I highly recommend her! Book as soon as you are able.

Experiencia fantástica: I want to comment about Niki and the massages available at Aspen in Ankeny. Please go see Niki, she has helped me with releasing my shoulder impingement that my physical therapist had been working on for several months. Niki listens to what you need help with and gives you a personalized treatment to help you heal. Highly recommend a massage from Niki if you haven't had one at all or if you haven't received for a while.

Experiencia negativa: Facilities are fair, membership fees are fair. Business practices are to be weary of. Their cancellation process places an undue burden on members to provide documentation of their justification for canceling. Management ignored my several requests to cancel over the phone over the course of 2 weeks which conveniently risked me being charged for another month of membership. Their process requires proof of moving more than 25 miles away to escape your contracted membership. It’s difficult to demonstrate documentation of moving 25 miles away when you’re proactively canceling your membership as most people do. I was asked to provide proof of address in Colorado while sitting in their office in Iowa…

Experiencia negativa: While the quality of the equipment, and overall facility are good, I've paid less for a better gym. It should be easier to start a gym membership at Aspen than what I experienced, and easier to cancel. I was asked to come physically into the gym between 10:30am and 4pm to sign the cancellation form. I work during the day, as most do, and those are probably the most inconvenient times to try to make it in there to cancel a membership. It took speaking with a manager of some sort to use email for the cancellation process. There was also a '12 month contract' with the membership (that I was unaware of), which is pretty old fashioned in comparison to competitors. Additionally, the gym is extremely crowded and there is a wait for anything other than a treadmill. I wish I could write a better review, as I try to keep them positive, but unfortunately that wasn't the case this time with Aspen Clubs.

Experiencia negativa: We are fully aware the bags are not allowed on the gym floor, hence why we put it off to the side where it was not in anyone’s way. Feeling uncomfortable leaving our wallets unattended in the locker room, I am more comfortable with it where I can see it. However the manager of this establishment felt the need to move my bag from one spot to another saying she would just move it to this other wall. Not a problem so I started putting my bag in that spot instead. This previous time I was there to workout she felt it was okay to touch my Personal belongs again and put it behind the desk… even though I had it set where she replaced it last time. Needless to say extremely annoyed with the blonde haired manager, extremely unprofessional.

Experiencia negativa: Aspen was my 1st gym membership. I was pleased with the facility when I would come in. Staff was always friendly. The reason for giving them 2 stars is that back in March I asked them how do cancel my membership. The person I spoke with told me I just need to pop in some time before the end of April and sign a paper. Seemed simple enough. Today I stop by (4/29/22) to end my membership. I am told that I needed to cancel 10 days prior to the end of the month. This was not explained to me when I called a month ago. I feel like they are stealing a months payment from me. Beware when it gets close to the end of your membership.

Experiencia positiva: Phenomenal staff and loads of equipment. If there was one thing I’d change, it would be swapping out the cleaning rags with disposable wipes. 99/100 times, I grab a rag to wipe my equipment or bench and it’s sopping wet with cleaning solution and sweat. You can go up and get a clean one, but still, grabbing a wet rag isn’t the most pleasant solution. Otherwise, like stated, staff are tops and it has all the equipment you could ever need. Great locker rooms and spa! Plenty of aerobic equipment too.

Experiencia negativa: TL;DR easy to sign up but don't trust them when you cancel. Clearly there are far more reputable companies out there. We requested to terminate our month to month membership with them due to COVID safety concerns. At the time my wife signed the paperwork to end things and was told that it was good for the both of us. However they continued to charge me and when contacted refused to issue a refund. We have now involved the BBB and our credit card as a chargeback as that appears the only way to get proper resolution. To be fair their facilities are nice enough but like the hotel california, you can check out any time you like, just you can never leave!

Experiencia negativa: Be careful when you sign a yearly membership as it may automatically renew. Since we had not been attending, we forgot about the automatic renewal. In addition, the classes that we most often attended were not offered for most of this time. My wife and I had not attended this facility since March of 2020. As older adults were are in the high risk category for covid-19. This facility charged my credit card this month for memberships for both of us, as well as a charge for maintenance. A total of $146.18. I just cancelled today. So much for treating members fairly during a pandemic.

Experiencia positiva: So I was moving away from Ankeny and went in to see about cancelling my membership. I was told to just wait out the rest of my contract since it would cost less than paying the cancellation fee. So I did that and I stopped getting billed when the 12 months were up. However about 3 months later I was billed again and a month later I was billed $61. I opened a dispute with my bank and they took care of it and got my money back but it was pretty sketchy for them to randomly start billing me again with no email notice or anything. Otherwise the gym is awesome, you get all the equipment you could want for a super cheap membership.

It does get busy but the equipment, staff and price of the membership makes it worth it! We have the premium membership which is $30/month. Although it is a one person membership I get unlimited guest swipes. It works perfect because we work out together so we each only really pay $15 each month. I highly recommend this gym!

Experiencia negativa: I really loved to go into this gym as I had been a member for 3 years in that time I've never had any issues always have respected the staff and the staff has always respected me as I have done my same routines, During the 3 years this gym served As a Beacon for me especially when I had went homeless While Battle my inner Demons this was my outlet everything was great until new management (Darren) to be percise came along and unjustly canceled my membership With no warning or any prenotion he had a staff member that was a friend be the one to call me to tell me about it Darren wouldn't even talk to me because of Honestly I feel of an ego trip, I was told that he Made an executive decision to cancel my membership for improperly using the equipment when everyone in the gym knew my routines from being a 3 year faithful member I never damaged the equipment All I did was come to work out and express myself as free as I can be, no issues from anybody, Some of the other members in the gym even became like family!!! if you go to the gym a lot you know what that feeling is like when other people who support you In your fight just want to see your success arise all together, even when the staff member had to tell me A hug was exchanged Because They plainly said they just had to follow orders and they were sad to see me go, the staff at Aspen are the truth, Now this review is not to bash because again Aspen the gym and the community also staff are legit they want to see you win the gym should and was a place where you could go and really be free no one judged, it was a place where you could come as you are and be a accepted by the whole community A portion of that changed when DARREN came. An absolute joke...I guess you get what you pay for. Will be very surprised if it makes it one year under Darren's lack of business knowledge. One star is a stretch. Good luck clown.

But what was a big set back is that they hide the fact that it is a year contract and you can't cancel at anytime without paying an amount. So if you just wanting to try out the gym, don't become a member.

The very clean environment is motivating as the clientele as a whole is serious about making improvement with their fitness and, along with the staff, are encouraging and openly friendly. My experience with the personal trainers helped me push through a plateau in fitness and weight control. I appreciate the educational value for making balanced improvements and making exercise actually fun. The different levels of membership tailor fit programs and offerings so one doesn’t pay for things not deemed necessary or has availability to a full of array of amenities.

The staff are all super friendly, and knowledgeable and all willing to give recommendations on stretching, strength, etc. My personally favorite trainer is Lexi, and we have been training together for almost a year now. Members are very great at cleaning stuff off after they use it. You will be greeted every time coming into the club, and also told to have a wonderful day when leaving. The staff here is very friendly, and always welcoming! Blair at the front desk is always friendly in the mornings when we walk in and when we leave! The training staff is also very friendly and helpful. Prices are extremely fair to join this club, and I would recommend it to anyone. We drive clear from south ankeny to attend this gym. It’s a very nice place to work out at. We have never had any troubles with this facility!

I do CrossFit and didn't really understand the value of preventative maintenance like massage until I started getting them here. She's the best and I always walk out feeling soooo much better! Experiencia fantástica: This is the best gym in the Des Moines/Ankeny Metro. Eric has changed the way I think about health, nutrition and taking care of my body. He is really good at explaining why we are doing certain exercises and is even better and motivating me to do them. He has excellent people skills and knows how to personalize the health and fitness plan to meet your specific needs. Even if you aren't looking for a trainer, this gym is amazing by itself. The facilities are amazing and the prices are even better.

Experiencia fantástica: Great facility and extremely low membership pricing! Have been a member since the opening of this location. With a busy work schedule and a kid, I don’t have time to get there anymore. Staff was very friendly and understanding when I discontinued my membership today. Check this gym out if you’re looking for a new gym! You won’t believe how affordable the pricing is for what you get!
