Experiencia fantástica: I waited until I was a member for six months to write this review. As someone who just starting taking weightlifting seriously fairly recently, I can confidently say that I have no amibition to lift elsewhere. The facility is clean, full of extra amenities like a snack machine, water station, and storage in the entry way, and a locker room for men and women with the ability to rent a locker for an extended period for a fee. There are plenty of options for equipment. Three cages, plenty of benches, two sets of free weights, kettlebells, cardio equipment, and plenty of machines. The owners still continue to add equipment as well. The owner, Zane, takes fitness and his memberships very seriously and you can see advertisements for free clinics for compound lifts put on by him for members and non-members absolutely free. He also is available to book personal one-on-one sessions and also offers the ability to coach utilizing an app. You are also able to get a hold of the owner at any given time and he's always attentive. I apologize, I am unsure if Claire (usually at the front desk) is an owner, but she is also attentive to needs via email/Facebook message as well. Working out here has invigorated a passion for fitness in me and I have the owner and this facility to thank. If you are looking for a gym at a fair price with a welcoming community and ownership, as well as 24 hour access, look no further than Zen. I will continue to be a member.

Experiencia fantástica: Finally found a place to work out that has all the weights and equipment I need for a great workout. The people there seem like real people instead of people pretending to care while only viewing you as a dollar sign.

Experiencia fantástica: You have access to this gym 24/7 once you get a membership during management hours. I absolutely love it here!! The equipment is high quality, and everyone is friendly! They even added a vending machine, how cool! My only and one compliant would consist of the space of the building. Other than that 10/10

Experiencia fantástica: I have been a member at Zen for about 3 1/2 years now. Couldn't ask for better owner's! Zane and Claire are kind, helpful and caring! The gym is filled with friendly people who are all there for the same purpose. Which leads to compliments, helpful instruction, a willingness to give you a "spot" to help you obtain your goals or even just a friendly chat! It's a place where "monsters" and people new to the gym experience, come together almost like family!

Experiencia positiva: No frills, great workout environment. Owner's very knowledgeable. I would like to see more doubling of equipment. There's one good bench every one prefers, need to get more of it. So minor tweeks.

Experiencia fantástica: I was in the area for a couple of weeks and needed somewhere other than my dinky hotel gym to work out and the owners were so accommodating and even gave me a two week pass at a prorated price. The equipment was all excellent and in great condition…it was a very small but uncluttered gym and never felt crowded or lacking. It had exactly what I needed! Any time I’m back in the area I’ll be stopping back by and I’ll absolutely be recommending it to anyone I know who travels to the area for work.

Experiencia fantástica: Zen is an amazing gym with top of the line gym equipment and I’ve worked in many gyms across the country. The owners do a great job of keeping it clean and making sure everyone is happy and welcome. I would definitely recommend it!

Experiencia fantástica: Zen is the only 24-hour gym in Alpena. For that reason alone, I would pay for a membership. However, Zen Fitness has some awesome bonuses like an excessive amount of bumper plates, three squat/bench racks, two deadlift platforms, and your basic necessary cables and dumbbells. The only downside is Zen's limited space means they are unable to pack in a lot of machines. It's true, Zen is a small gym, but the community and the owners have big hearts. There's also a lot of potential for them to grow. Consider supporting a small (swole) local business!

Experiencia fantástica: I wife and I love Zen 24 hour fitness! The owners are incredibly personable, the equipment is always being updated and they have everything that you could want in a gym. And there’s no debating that the fact that it is open 24 hours is amazing! Nobody else in Alpena offers that. The community that Zen offers is great too, everyone is helpful in answering questions and spotting if necessary....overall, I’d say this is the best gym in Alpena, by far!

Experiencia fantástica: Haven’t been in the fitness realm since early college. This establishment is clean and has just about everything you need for a complete routine. 24 hour gym with management hours makes it convenient for me to pop in for a quick 15 minute workout whenever I find the time. We’ve seen body builder types, fitness beginners, and elderly working out in here - it’s perfect for everyone. Much consideration has gone into this small establishment - everything from waters to earbuds are available at a small price during management hours, and the ladies’ locker room is stocker with items we might have left at home (hair ties, Bobby pins, etc). As simple as the place looks, it’s these little details that make me feel welcomed. I’ve never had an issue accessing the building or other members using the gym. There are also personal trainers available if you need help getting on your feet. I’m glad I was finally talked into trying a membership here - I’ve worked out more in the first month than I have in years!

For a full body workout, I work swing shifts so the RFID 24/7 access is amazing, wether I'm on midnights, afternoons, or mornings I can find a way to get in at least a few days a week.

Experiencia negativa: Not a good gym if you are just starting down your fitness path. Full of body builders who give you dirty looks when you don't know how to use equipment. If you are already adept at using athletic equipment and are comfortable with the gym this is probably the place for you.
