Experiencia negativa: Today my disabled sister in law & cousin took my 4 year old & her 2 year old swimming during the day at the ymca where they’ve had memberships for literal decades. However, today, two of the pool attendants proceeded to harass my family while they swam repeatedly commenting on the two year old, who never ran off or was left unattended. The lifeguard TOLD my family several times “you need to give him water”, because like all of the kids I know, he kept drinking the pool water. Then when he was jumping into KIDS POOL they made 5+ comments every time the kid jumped into the pool, saying the two year old needed to LEAD WITH HIS FEET… yes, a two year old. Not sure how else he could have led, but the harassment went on for hours until they proceeded to turn the fans on to chase them out of the pool. Laughing and saying “the kids don’t seem to mind”… My four year old daughter who was trying to enjoy a local amenity that our family has paid for for the entire family for decades… now has walking pneumonia- a mere 12 hours later after not having any signs or symptoms of an illness. I’m not sure why they were targeting a disabled person and 2 year old, but whoever the two life guards were on 2/17/26- that harassed my daughters disabled aunt and her cousins grandmother the entire duration of their swim, that mean girl behavior brings immediate bad karma, especially when you decide to target some of the sweetest, most polite, loving, helpful, and giving people in your area. Oh yeah and the front desk, proceeded to ask my cousin if her two year old grandson had a membership… matter a fact- he does, since his grandmother has paid for one for her immediate family; all her grandkids, and cousins for DECADES. It’s a shame that these are the best new hires north canton could come up with. The snotty, mean girl, high school bullying mindset isn’t something that anyone thinks is cool, or acceptable in 2026. Whatever problems your having in your personal life shouldn’t be taken out on random strangers who were merely doing acts of kindness for their family. Me. My daughter, and the actual children that they spent the effort to entertain while their mothers work jobs servicing the community with INTEGRITY. I will be reaching out to the management of the local north canton YMCA, as well as the district/corporate managers until these employees are terminated. There is zero reason my innocent four year old should have pneumonia right now and I will make it my mission to ensure the removal of these unethical adult bullies that way something positive will come from all of the negativity they projected onto my family, and the trickle down effect their poor and impulsive actions had on my 4 year old.

Experiencia positiva: Love this facility. Clean and well maintained and wide variety of classes. Only complaint is it's always hot like a sauna every time I go in. Why they have heaters in front of the cardio equipment upstairs is beyond me. Hot air blowing on you while you're doing cardio is miserable. Heat rises so heaters are unnecessary upstairs.

Experiencia positiva: They dont control the kids, way to many of them goofing around on machines, its like a babysitting place, to many old guys talking by machines and not working out, go get coffee if you want to talk for an hr by a machine, I drive out if my way to go to green its nicer and they offer 24 hrs

Experiencia fantástica: Great place to work out. Though it normally attracts an older crowd this place has everything you need to workout. Including basketball and racket ball courts, an indoor track, a pool, a good youth area upstairs, a circuit training room, weight equipment and lots of cardio equipment. Saunas. Lots of events and good rates. Personal trainers don’t harass you , and space isn't always taken up by personal training classes 24/7..I have been to a lot of gyms in the Canton area and this is the best one by far. The only gripe I have is that it doesn't have a smoothie bar so you have to bring your own supplementation that and the Sunday hours kind of suck but that is to be expected for the Y. Overall great gym 5 stars

The sauna is located in a bizarre back hallway by the women’s locker room. It appears tiny and packed with unshowered men at all times. There’s carpet in the women’s locker area, and stinks of mildew. The showers stink of P. So much potential to be a great experience otherwise.

Experiencia negativa: If you are a man in the weight room at this YMCA: 1. Don't stare at women while we lift weights 2. Don't come up behind a woman working in the smith or the squat rack. You need to wait your turn a safe distance away 3. If you're just here to stand around and chat with your bros, please do it in the lobby or some other lounge area 4. Consider using less axe/cologne. Its toxic and gross Thanks I've used gyms in big cities all over the US and never had a problem with dudes. It is this gym. I've never seen any kind of monitoring by staff. The bros have no idea how to behave. But the staff is super underpaid so I can't totally blame them for not caring. Some more feedback for Y staff The Smith is way too close to the other racks it is not safe The steam room in wms locker room is disgusting and smells like mold. It needs to be cleaned every day, not twice a week Teacher/trainer pay is abysmal. I can't imagine teaching or coaching for $20/hour. I just joined a month ago and I'm already cancelling membership but hopefully my feedback helps other women who are trying to use the weight room.

Experiencia negativa: I'm sure I'm biased from a personal grudge at this point, but even prior to that I found this location wanting. In fact, this is the closest Y to me but when I signed up I signed up at another much nicer location. It has a ton of potential but seems quite bogged down by/in it's Frankenstein-ian existence. Multiple additions from different eras, but lacking in space and flow. Missing equipment. Odd customer base (not necessarily their fault though). Hardline rules despite the place being an incoherent mess. At this point, despite the huge convenience to me to go here, I avoid it at almost all costs to go to a further away Y. Gave two stars for potential and for two basketball courts....but good luck using them.

Experiencia fantástica: I appreciate that they’ve recently added some group fitness classes that aren’t at 5:30 in the morning! I wish there were a few more classes during the 7 or 8 a.m. hour, as well as on weekends (Sundays in particular), which they used to offer in past years. I was pleasantly surprised that the YMCA360 platform has undergone significant updates recently, and they have SO many virtual options now (both live and on-demand classes, although much more in the latter category). Because of this, I feel I get more out of my membership, especially on days when I cannot attend the Y in person and need to work out from home. Kudos to the North Canton Y for updating the parent/caregiver viewing area during swim lessons as well! As a parent, I also greatly appreciate the discount on childcare. I can only speak from our family’s experience, but we’ve found the staff who work with our child in sports and aftercare to be inclusive and welcoming. Is the facility dated in some places? Sure. Could it use some upgrades? Yes. However, I feel that overall, the staff makes the most of the equipment and resources they currently have, and that the Y is an asset to the North Canton community.

Experiencia negativa: Gym etiquette.*** Loud and stinky in the evenings. Weight room is old and compacted. Bikes on the first floor and certain machines have a sign up board. Which I was not made aware during my sign up. Found out when my husband was told to get off a machine during our cool down. I have trained and been a member in gyms across the country and I have never had to deal with a “equipment sign up board”. There were machines that were empty and the man still choose to kick us off. I made a formal complaint at the front desk. Just want people aware so you can plan your workout accordingly around a sign up sheet.

Experiencia fantástica: The Y North Canton is spacious and clean. The exercise studio can accommodate a large group and is well equipped. I attend the body pump and boot camp classes, and the instructors are excellent. The studio has recently had a new floor fitted, and this has made a great improvement to it. The wellness centre is well equipped and kept clean and hygiene measures applied. The equipment is well maintained and in good condition. There is a good supply of small towels for the members. I have enjoyed many hours of lap swimming in the indoor pool. The water is warm and so is the temperature outside the pool. My two year old grandson loves swimming in the small pool. It is warm inside and outside the pool. He enjoys talking to the friendly lifeguards. The staff are friendly and helpful. The members are also friendly and it is a pleasure to be a member of the Y North Canton. The Y provides so many activities, and they cater for all ages. The hours that it is open is excellent. The place is open on public holidays and normal classes are usually available. The Y provides a wonderful service to the community and at an affordable cost. I consider it a privilege to be a member of the YMCA North Canton. Cynthia Innes

Experiencia negativa: Employee at the front desk was extremely rude and sassy when asking the policy for out of state YMCA members. She didn’t offer support or care when we asked questions. Then when we were leaving the desk, her and her coworker began to talk poorly on us before we even exited the facility. Beware - this YMCA only allows members of this YMCA to enter. Making a place where everyone is to be welcomed an elitist and uncomfortable space. One of the worst YMCA experiences I’ve ever had in my 20+ years of being a member.

Experiencia positiva: It's a beautiful facility that has everything you could want in a YMCA. The only problem is, it's not the most comfortable environment for black people. It seems that some of the visitors and workers treat black people differently than their white guests. They watch you more, and nit pick about everything you do more if you are black than if you are of other ethnicities. I also had to break up a fight in the girls locker room today and I told a YMCA worker about it, and she didn't seem to care much.

Experiencia fantástica: I love the Y, and I love this Y too. I think this one is the swankiest one I've been to. I dropped Anytime Fitness and paid only $5 more for Stark County's Y. Anytime Fitness objectively doesn't have a pool, sauna, steam room, a gym, lessons for your kids, watch your kids, etc. The Y is the best gym membership you can get. You can play racquetball here if you want, probably set up pickleball somewhere. There is just so much and it's $5 more than AnyTime Fitness which is just a gym room with trainers. The staff is friendly, they call you back when you call, they genuinely seem happy and friendly. Never had a billing issue, and for Stark county, I do think this one is the gold standard. When you read bad reviews, they are a bit particular and even a bit petty. When you have services, all that I listed above and all that I am forgetting, and the price is reasonable, something is bound to be imperfect to someone.

The part I like it most is you wanna register your children for a sport,all you need to do is make a simple call, give the front receptionist phone number, email, your child’s name, 3 seconds, boo, your child is in. Don’t even bother ur wife.

Experiencia positiva: There are pros and cons to any gym/YMCA. For some reason they like to keep the locker rooms as freezing as possible. So much so that we had to stop swimming here as soon as summer ended. They can't seem to keep staff for the pool so we keep getting excuses as to why our son can't have a swim test done. Most people do not clean equipment after they are done with it. No one does anything about it. We do like the child watch staff. Our daughter enjoys going there. There are tons of cardio machines and little else unfortunately. It seems to be clean for the most part thankfully. It's definitely not the best one I have been to. For as much as you pay for a membership it's kinda not worth it. Especially with the pool situation.

The staff are professional, polite and always very attentive and helpful. The equipment is always in good condition and kept clean. I no longer live as close to this location and have one closer but still frequently visit because it just feels like home.

Experiencia negativa: There is a policy posted to wipe down equipment before and after use. This policy is not followed by at least 1/2 of the members. This policy is not being enforced by the staff, including a personal trainer. This personal trainer does not wipe the equipment nor does he have his client wipe it down after use. That facility continues to be dirty. There is no air movement in the wellness center. If the person beside you has bad body odor, it's hard to get your work out done. There is a treadmill broken for at least 9 months. The equipment is not properly maintained.

Experiencia negativa: Avoid this place like the plague - unless you are a north cantonian, have millions of dollars to donate, or if you expect any type of customer service at all, go somewhere else. Somebody needs to contact the nearest proctologist as there’re is an epidemic of telephone poles up the behinds of the front desk staff. Rude and condescending! Forgot to do my courtsy as I walked in I guess…cancelling my membership and going elsewhere!

Experiencia fantástica: The YMCA offers so many activities for people of all ages at reasonable prices! My kids have done lessons and sports and attended the child development center. As a member, I’ve enjoyed the fitness center and aquatic facility. The staff is friendly and always willing to help, and the facility is clean.

Experiencia fantástica: Tons of different fitness machines including multiple different types of treadmills, ellipticals. They also have concept 2 row erg and ski erg. There are a bunch of upright and recumbent bikes. There aren’t any peloton. Tons of weight machines are free weights. They have a kid pool (heated a few degrees warmer than main pool and shallower) as well as main adult pool. Somewhat limited open swim time. There’s a nice hot tub and sauna room. Locker rooms like the rest of the facility are well maintained.

Experiencia negativa: Would be nice to be able to watch my kid swim from the bleachers next to the pool. Never allowed to. I have to deal with my hormonal, pregnant wife complain for the next 45 minutes about how rude the lady is who forced us to go watch our kids from the overlook platform on a 32 inch; 720p tv, squished together with 12 other families while they cough all over us... Guess we're not signing up for swim class here ever again.

Experiencia positiva: This Y offers an amazing community. The staff is nice and the members are mostly friendly. There are many cardio and exercise machines and they're kept clean. Membership rates are very reasonable. However, it can get real crowded. The building is just not big enough during events and rush hours. If you can work around those times you'll enjoy coming here. Otherwise you'll need to spend an extra hour spent waiting to use the benches. The hot tub was not hot enough. Still love the community

The gym area looks amazing! Two levels of all kinds of different workout equipment. There's a nice pool area. All the staff I came across was very friendly and helpful. The building was well kept and tidy, even with all the festivities of Halloween!

Experiencia fantástica: The North Canton YMCA truly cares about the people they serve and their employees. I work for Trident Restoration, and we recently helped them with their water damage. Ben Wheeler and his team communicated so well and did whatever they could to accommodate us to ensure we could do our repair efficiently and appropriately! It was so impressive to see that they got creative while the building had to be closed and offered classes outside and in alternate locations to make sure their customers were taken care of! They offer a variety of exercise programs for everyone. They have personal trainers for a extra fee who provide one on one training. They also have a swimming pool, steam room and sauna. The pool is available now. However, the jacuzzi is not working yet. They offer child care for parents with young children. Members can rent a locker but many are free though. There is a basketball court with a padded walking track above it.

Experiencia positiva: This is a very nice YMCA. However, when I walked in, a few areas were closed due to a flood including the pool, spa and racquetball courts. Very bummed. Hope it reopens soon and I will come back. Staff is nice. But since I’m from Medina County and not Stark, I had to tell them I’m visiting from another county. Took a lot more time than expected. Heads up, if any of you guys go to a YMCA that isn’t your local YMCA, unfortunately you have to tell the front desk that you are visiting another YMCA from a different county. They have a different sign in screen on their computers for that. More positive things about this YMCA, the locker rooms and showers are extremely clean and huge. Changing rooms are clean and organized. The whole facility is well kept. Gymnasium is huge, restrooms are clean. They also have a game room which is huge and very fun. They also have a variety of both men and boys locker rooms which means, men’s locker rooms are for 18 years or older and the boys locker rooms would be for any boy under the age of 18. That’s cool. I just want to see the pool, spa, and racquetball courts reopened soon

Experiencia fantástica: I've been coming to this YMCA since my kids were in diapers. The child-watch was an excellent experience for them -- and after they outgrew it, they still loved the play areas available to them. I taught both my kids to swim in the pool, and now it's my regular workout place -- both for weights and often swimming. The massive wall of windows and the clearly posted hours (and the friendly lifeguarding staff) are my favorite aspects of this swimming pool. I think the temperature is a little warmer than I'd prefer, but not warm enough to keep me from swimming or to lower my rating below a "5."
