Fantastic experience: I have been a student for a number of years. The U.S. Kuo Shu Academy has been a wonderful place to learn within a traditional martial arts system. The staff under the leadership of Grandmaster Huang are friendly, highly skilled and have a broad range of knowledge and experience.

Fantastic experience: US Kuoshu Academy is a wonderful martial arts school. The instructors are knowledgeable, and approachable. Within the group classes, there is also a lot of one-on-one instruction. The students are continually challenged to improve and are extremely supportive of each other.

Fantastic experience: My daughter has been a student at US Kuoshu since 2009. The instructors are all top notch and embody exactly what a martial artist should... discipline, character, knowledge, professionalism, etc. The standards are very high and well respected in the community. I highly recommend this school above all others.

Fantastic experience: My son attends US Kuoshu Academy and I love it! The instructors are all very knowledgeable and professional. Most importantly, they teach some of the world's best kung fu. I've seen their students competing at world championship levels. But that doesn't stop them from teaching traditional values like virtue and humility. They also teach Taichi there for adults and seniors. It's a a great place - 5 stars IMHO!

Fantastic experience: I have been at US Kuoshu Academy since 1999, when I came to study Taijiquan from my Shi Ye, Grandmaster Huang Chien Liang. The martial ethics he teaches and practices are evident throughout the school and the martial arts curriculum is deep and second to none. The atmosphere at USKA is collegial, supportive and family-friendly, but still very traditional. My step-son has also been at the school for 12 years and it continues to be help him grow in confidence, maturity, coordination, fitness, etc. If you are looking for an outstanding martial arts school. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Fantastic experience: I first started with this school back in 2000 and was very impressed. After a very long hiatus and living life I not only returned but brought two out of three kids so far to also join. Since joining my kids have thrived and I have lost over 50 lbs. If you push its an amazing work out and I am no spring chicken. The staff at this school are AWESOME! They work with the students to help them achieve growth and push them to strive for excellence. The environment at the school is very friendly and family oriented and I don't think I could have picked a better school.

Fantastic experience: I've been a Kung Fu student here for a little over a year and already feel like I've joined another family! The instructors are all so patient, talented, and dedicated to teaching a beautiful traditional style. It doesn't just feel like you're learning how to kick and punch, but you learn the real life application of these techniques, the history behind the Chinese names, and your learning is very self-paced. There's always fun events and special seminars to go to, new shirts or hoodies on sale, and their after school program is top notch. I feel like I've grown so much as a person and have found a way to relax, challenge myself, and partake in an exciting yet graceful martial arts form.

Fantastic experience: USKA is an awesome school for Chinese martial arts. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the teachers are humble, focused and committed to the students' success. The student population is very diverse. There's something for everybody. Whether you're interested in hard core kung fu for fitness or a more mellow flow like Tai Chi, they offer classes for it all. One of the best parts is that you can take private intro classes to see if you like it before you start going to classes. Check it out. It's definitely worth it!

Fantastic experience: In the summer of 2010 I had shoulder surgery. After several weeks of physical therapy I had more mobility but I wasn't satisfied. In September of 2010 I had several introductory sessions into Tai Chi with Master John Green. After my last session I joined the school and not one day do I regret it. Fantastic school, outstanding instructors.

Fantastic experience: I have been a student at U.S. KuoShu Academy for about 3 years. While there I enjoyed the dedication of the the teachers, at all levels, the patience and diligence of the school Masters and Grand Master. I have grown in my understanding of humility and true growth as a person. When I first started going to the school I thought I would get a black belt in one year, and I was sorely re educated to the understanding of what true Martial Arts is about. They taught me how to build a foundation, how to build on that foundation and always pushed me to strive for excellence in my understanding of Ten Shan Pai, how to demonstrate the style in fighting, and how to lead in the style, and how to be a leader of the style. They truely care about the preservation of the truth in Ten Shan Pai and are not motivated by monetary gains. They are motivated by the true growth of the student. Go check them out, find out if their martial truth is for you, I know it was and still is for me.

Fantastic experience: Excellent school. A very comprehensive curriculum (technical skills, joint locks, self-defense, sparring, empty-hand and weapons forms) for both children and adults. The traditional style teaching (a highly skilled instructor with support from more senior students) allows for a great teacher to student ratio where even in a large class one gets personalized instruction. This format works particularly well with the children. Highly recommended.

They hold themselves and their students to the highest standards in all regards, which is readily apparent when you see them demonstrate their skills and interact with them personally.

Fantastic experience: I have been doing Tai Chi at the USKA Koushu Academy for 2 years. Oh wow! My life has changed for the better. How, you may ask yourself. I have an increasing love for my self through the wonderful internal art. I see that I have an energy truly unbound by the body I am in and love that through Tai Chi I get deeper and deeper each day. Sure its slow and not Kick boom Pow!! Well a t least not at first to my surprise. I learned and continue to learn how Tai chi benefits every aspect of my life. Fantastic experience: I have studied martial arts since I was 13 off an on. Spent a lot of time trying to find the right fit for me. Until I found myself at US Kuo Shu Academy in Owings Mills one day. That one day turned into 8+ years and it has been great. Master Huang takes a complete approach to teaching martial arts. While training to be a black sash he makes sure that training your body is only PART of the process. Master Huang is also interested in developing character within each student. He wants to develop leaders not just black sashes. A side from learning martial arts I had a goal to be healthier and lose weight. During my time at the academy I have lost 70lbs along with increased mobility and flexibility. The academy has become an integral part of my life, it has such a family atmosphere it makes learning martial arts easier. I couldnt imagine not being apart of the academy.

I started in the Tai Chi program because I wanted something that is good for my health both physically and mentally and that I can do for many years to come. The school totally exceeded my expectations. The instructors are very friendly and committed to helping all students develop to their fullest potential. Fantastic experience: US Kuoshu Academy is a great place to be apart of and train, there are good people. They cheer you on when you feel like you want to give up. They way they use music to get you pumped up and going is one of the great things I love about it because, I love to dance so the music during the cardio exercise is my favorite thing to do even though it can be hard at times, but martial arts isn't supposed to be easy then everyone would be doing it the hard makes it fun.

Fantastic experience: I’m smiling right now as I think about the changes I’ve seen in my son. He just received his white with orange stripe sash at US KUO SHO. Let me give you some context. The word awesome comes to mind and then gratitude and then development and so much more. I looked for a place that had marshall arts and took students that are on the autism spectrum . Why is that important? For me it was because we wanted to ensure the difference in learning would not lead to frustration. We wanted him to thrive and that’s what he did. We went in with the goal of him having more physical balance (for his gait), self confidence and strength. It has been almost 3 months and we have seen things that have moved me to tears. His balance has improved where he is not longer waddling. He works on his character development everyday - thx to the sheets from the school. The teachers here are amazing and they are actively involved in my sons development with himself, at home, at school and in the community. I’m so thankful and invite you as a parent to try them out — you WILL NOT be disappointed❤️.

Fantastic experience: I have been traveling to MD annually since 1999 to take part in the International Kuoshu tournament which is hosted by the U.S Kuo Shu Academy. The reason I make this trip each year is due to the quality of the tournament, the people and the martial arts. Fantastic experience: I've been studying at U.S. Kuo Shu Academy for about six years now, and I am so impressed by the depth of knowledge that the instructors at this school have. This is truly a traditional Chinese martial arts school. I have been learning Tai Ji Quan from this school, and it's exactly the type of Tai Ji I was looking for. Not just the basic stuff you learn from a community center or gym, but true in-depth knowledge of the martial aspects of tai chi and how it builds the inner energy, the chi. There's meditation, Qi Gong and weapons work, too! Everyone at the school is so supportive of the students and of one another. And you not only learn martial arts, you learn ways to become the best version of yourself.

I have been to many of his seminars and tournaments that he has hosted, and am grateful for the high class events and learning opportunities that he has provided for so many decades now. Fantastic experience: I started at US Kuo Shu back in 2015 as therapy after being hit by a car. USKSA was instrumental in my physical recovery, and did a lot for my mental health as immediately following my accident, I was not able to do a lot of the physical activity that I was used to doing. Participating in this school restored faith in myself as well as my physical ability; I have actually exceeded my own expectations of my physical ability by learning a variety of weapons, jumping kicks, and competitive sparring. Even as I started kung fu in my mid 30s, I have to say I am actually in better shape now than I was in my 20s. USKSA also does a good job of presenting a program that nearly anyone can do. There are definitely some competitive aspects to the school, but the school has a program that welcomes people of all ages and with all ranges of physical capacity. The school has also been a fountain of youth for me and helps me to retain my vitality despite decades of sports injuries and wear and tear. A good program overall and an excellent extracurricular activity for all ages.

Fantastic experience: I have been a student of Grandmaster Huang for more than three decades. Now Master Huang, his son, is teaching me! Grandmaster still teaches the advanced students. For anyone interested in Martial Arts I can assure you this is the REAL DEAL. Everything they teach is proven by numerous International and National Champions. The school encourages objectively beneficial behavior as well as general physical improvement. The school also does what a lot of Gong Fu schools won’t in teaching extensively how techniques may differ in a variety of practical applications. No snake oil, just martial arts and personal growth along with it. Highly recommended.

After numerous attempts and failures over the past ten years, I decided to make a commitment to learning and joined the US Kuo Shu Academy. There is something for everyone of all ages! Group classes allow students to learn traditional martial arts while meeting new people and forming friendships, and private lessons with the skilled instructors allow students to refine their techniques. My years spent here truly shaped me into the person I am today.I would definitely recommend the US Kuo Shu Academy to those looking to challenge themselves and grow as both a martial artist and a person.

Fantastic experience: My daughter started coming here at the beginning of the 2018/2019 school year and when I say that I have seen a miraculous change in my child I am not kidding you! The staff has worked with my child who has been an introvert from birth now much more out going and looks forward to coming every week. I am now in the process of convincing my brother to allow two of his children to stay with me so that they can start. I recommend them to anyone with children. The decision that me and my daughter made in back to school night to come for the free lesson was the best decision that we have made. Kudos to all the staff!

Fantastic experience: US Kuo Shu Academy is a great place for my son to get out all of his energy! He is one of the smallest/youngest ones in the class and the instructors are great with him- very patient. Not to mention that I am extremely impressed with Master Huang, Mr. Harris, Dr. Thomas and Mr. Shannon !!! Easy to find location (with a new location in Marriottsville). Friendly kids. I have seen results in our past year here. We will be here for another year. This area does not have much for our kids to participate in, so come check this place out. -R. Douglas

Fantastic experience: In January, I started martial arts here after a (rougly) 19 year hiatus. I immediately felt welcomed. The instructors are compassionate, patient, and extremely knowledgable. The content is comprehensive, and the classes day by day and week by week are wonderfully structured. If you want to get back into the arts, or even start for the 1st time, I highly reccomend US Kuo Shu academy.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a student at USKSA for two years and have truly enjoyed learning traditional Chinese martial arts here. I learnt Kungfu during my childhood in Hong Kong, and am really glad to have found a Kungfu school in the states that has such a comprehensive curriculum. All of the instructors are super knowledgeable, friendly and supportive. Everyone gets to define their own path here. I have seen the positive impacts, both physically and mentally, that training at USKSA has had on me! Proud to be part of the USKSA family!

Si no que verdaderamente se interesan por el bienestar y avance de cada uno; los maestros son extraordinarios. Es como una gran familia. Aparte de todos los beneficios que el a tenido en cuanto a disciplina, enfoque, mi hijo es un poco tímido, y esto le a ayudado a tener una mejor auto estima. La recomiendo 100%. No se van arrepentir.

Fantastic experience: My son has been coming to this academy for about a year, and our experience here has been excellent, the attention they have for each kid is incredible, they also know each kid by name which makes me feel like aren’t just come other client.they truly are really interested in the well being and advancement of each child, the teachers are extraordinary and everyone is like a big family there. Besides that my son has gotten some great benefits with discipline and focus. My kid is very shy and this has helped him a lot with his self-esteem, I recommend this academy 100%, you won’t regret it.
